"Along with some of the most ornate and painstakingly decorated cookies around, this Lower Mills sweet spot serves up frothy lattes and drinkable desserts. Sweet Life also does the simple things well — the drip coffee and café au lait are exemplary, and perfect for dunking cookies. For those who like their coffee with a kick, Sweet Life also offers Irish coffee, which consists of cold brew, Irish whiskey, a touch of Guinness, Bailey’s, and cinnamon, and is served cold or hot. Sweet Life is open for indoor dining (limited seating) and takeout by calling the restaurant directly." - Nathan Tavares

Very nice place, the best eggs and hash I've tried in a long time. Place was very clean and had very friendly service. Made me feel very welcome and my cups never went empty. It's very bright and a little noisy, but it's expected with such a crowd. I would be happy to dine there again.

I really enjoyed breakfast at Sweet Life! Such a festive and home-like feel to this bakery cafe! It was my first time trying this place, but it has been on my radar and wish list for some time. No wait time. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a cappuccino - yum! I love that they have silver dollar pancakes on the menu - perfect size for something a little sweet with mixed berries, the real syrup, and side of bacon! They had breakfast and lunch menu so I'll be back to try more! Wait staff were friendly and despite some of these other reviews I didn't experience slow service. I left happy and so did my tummy :)

This Cafe is pretty great. I really love the ambiance. Very relaxing and quiet. Nice looking and cozy. The service was really good. Very good Staff. The food was good, not the best food I've tasted but definitely good. Decent parking in the area and the prices aren't bad at all. Check it out.

Google
I go here frequently. The smoothies are excellent. The hash is delicious. I appreciate the fact that you can get a half order of hash and a small side of fruit. Occasionally I get the cookies or brownies and they are outstanding. Everyone is always friendly.

Cute local spot with good food! Service was pretty slow but we weren’t in a hurry so it was ok. Most memorable part of the meal was the yummy breakfast potatoes!

Google
They had me at Valrhona Hot Chocolate! The food was great, decent portions, and full of flavor. Honestly...it's in the name...just such a sweet place to eat. Great to enjoy with friends, family or a date.

A bit loud but high ceilings, modern decoration. Street parking only. My over easy eggs were on point and they got me in and out relatively fast.

If you don't know about the corned beef hash and eggs here yet, you are missing out. We love it for takeout during Sunday football. Always very busy on the weekend, seems like they are working out a few kinks. Best is to order at the counter, rather than over the phone for takeout. Power sandwich is delicious but wished they toasted the bread consistently. Restaurant is clean and lively.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time yesterday. Even though I lived in Boston for a number of years and even worked down the street from here, I passed by here many times without stopping inside. My friend suggested we eat here for brunch, and so we got here a little after 10. It was easy to get seating and we got to choose where we wanted to sit which was nice. I had previewed the menu beforehand, and was fixed on their fried chicken sandwich. When I went to order, I was told that they were out of fried chicken so I wasn't able to order that. I was a little disappointed, but settled on their turkey sandwich. It had Brie, apricot jam, and green apples on it. I got it on brioche and it was soooo good! I never had this combination before, and would never think to add jam or apples to my sandwich, but my oh my, was that the combination that I needed. The apples were crisp and refreshing in the sandwich, and the apricot jam added an unexpected but welcome sweetness to the roll. They weren't skimp with the turkey, and overall the sandwich was a solid ten in my book. I definitely would order it again, and even try to recreate it. My friend had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and she enjoyed it. She also said that other menu options there are very good, so I know I need to go back to try. Our server was also very friendly, and attentive so that's a plus!

Yelp
The food is always cooked to perfection. Dorchester's hidden gem. The food is always cooked to perfection. Dorchester's hidden gem.

Yelp
Came this morning and it was a packed house! Ms Eileen was there to greet us as usual and told us it would be a little wait/ which we had no problem with. (Ended up only being maybe 5-7 minutes) We ordered with Emma who was amazing, and had a great smile! She made us feel welcomed and was very thorough I wanted the apple crumb pie and I got the last piece thanks to Emma ! Woohoo, made my day. I ordered a BLT with Turkey and it was perfect ! I added a side of bacon because I am greedy. I got the fries & onion rings (soooooooo good) definitely ordering again The steak tip omelet was amazing as usual (only available fri-sun) Got it with an English muffin because they're always soft and buttery Tom Brady to drink because, duh.

Yelp
I will recommend this place forever. Excellent hours for families (open for breakfast before 9 AM!) and the menu choices are expansive, including homemade corned beef hash (yum) with perfectly poached eggs, omelettes, quiche of the day, avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches, waffles and pancakes! Lunch options, too. If you wait until 10:30, you're asking for a line since this is the start of prime time brunch. Brunch cocktails, check! All the dairy and non-dairy options, check! And sourdough. Can't go wrong with sourdough. The glutton in me wishes they were open through dinner hours as another option to grab an evening drink, but there are definitely great alternatives nearby. Parking can be tricky, but there's a number of street spots on Richmond Street. If you're in the mood for ice cream after noon, walk up to the Ice Creamsmith for a treat!

Sanjana K.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite brunch spot in the greater Boston area!! The menu is expansive, including cocktails, coffee options, and smoothies/milkshakes. On Fridays-Sundays, they also serve pie, and their apple pie is the best I've ever had! My fiancé and I frequently hike at Blue Hills (15 min drive away), then stop here afterwards for brunch, and the espresso milkshake is such a good treat after a hike/run! There can be a wait on the weekends, but the line moves fast, and the food is 100% worth the wait.

Donna R.

Yelp
Long wait as usual but worth it! Service is pleasant and helpful and the food is great. Once you are seated you feel privacy.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Over the last few years, I always stop into Sweet Life when I'm in town ! Sweet life is my go to brunch /breakfast spot! My mother lives close by in Milton! I know the place will always be buzzing and the food will delicious and filling. I stopped in yesterday with my mother for pre Mother's Day brunch. We arrived a little before 930. I started with a mimosa which was big! I then ordered the new life special. I opted for the egg whites, with bacon, wheat toast, and a waffle topped with strawberries. It was so much food , I could not finish it all . Everyone is always friendly and you know you are going to hear a Boston /New England accent lol I only wish you you could make reservations online. So, it's really first-come first serve aka put your name on the list. You gotta try it!

Maria F.

Yelp
10/10 breakfast spot, the staff were very welcoming and the ambiance and good were great overall

Sam D.

Yelp
Updated review: I hyped this place up way too much in my previous review. I came back with some family because I thought this was a good brunch place but I was mistaken. The service was subpar and the food was as well. Currently looking for brunch spots with bomb food in Boston. We ordered French toast, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, and drinks. None of the people in the party would return and order those same items again. The potatoes were soggy. There was no flavorful taste that smacked in any entree. Will not be recommending or bringing people here.

Lauren J.

Yelp
4.5 stars. Went on a Sunday morning at around 10 AM. The place was pretty packed! We had to wait a couple of minutes, but then got one of the last available tables. The hostess was super friendly as was the waitress. Our waitress was a bit slower than the one who helped a couple of tables near us. We came in and got seated first, but both of the tables with the other waitress got to order before us. No biggie. We weren't in a rush. I ordered the mango mimosa and he got the bloody. I liked my mimosa, but he was not impressed by the bloody mary. I tried it (I've recently gotten into "good" bloodies) and I didn't think it was that bad. It definitely wasn't just V8 and vodka. There was some spice there, but I think the boy has been ruined by other bloodies recently that have been phenomenal. Decent drinks so far in my opinion. He got the hash and I got an omelette. Nothing too fancy. He really liked his hash (he'll get hash every.single.time it's on a menu). My omelette was good (ham, american, tomato & mushrooms) and I liked that you can build your own without it ending up costing more than ones that they create. My omelette came with toast and I chose the english muffin. It was delicious! I ate the whole thing and left part of my omelette. Ha. It also came with potatoes that were decent, but could have used more seasoning/spice. 5 stars for the vibe. I've only lived in Dorchester for a month, but I have been to many places on the block that aren't really "diversified" despite the location. Sweet Life was such a good mix of people - black, white, asian, hispanic, young, old. Everyone having a good time on a Sunday morning. I was so happy to just soak it in. This place is a 3 minute walk from my house, so it could be my new regular brunch spot!

Natalia G.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot. Breakfast food is really good. Mimosa and Irish coffee were strong. The interior is so cute. Good place for a catch up with friends. They also do takeout orders. Two thumbs up.

Joy H.

Yelp
Thanks Sweet Life for a great early morning breakfast! Belgian waffles with blueberries and "to die for" made from scratch hash. Will definitely return when I'm next in town.

Alissa D.

Yelp
A little funny but we were actually meaning to go to the Bowery but stepped in here instead. It wasn't until we got the bill with Sweet Life Bakery on it that we realized we ate at the wrong place. When we stepped in it was half a cute bakery and half restaurant. The hostess was nice and we were able to be seated at the bar. Our waiter took our drink order and then came back to tell us that the kitchen was backed up and he would wait to take our order. In a way it was nice to have time to chat, but I was happy I had eaten a snack before we left because it was at least a half hour if not more before our order was even taken. My food was average (poached eggs, toast and home fries). Mimosa was really good and other cocktail was decent that my husband had. My husband loved his egg wrap and said it was super flavorful and delicious. Overall a nice morning out despite thinking we were at a different restaurant!

Taylor K.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place. First, let me say the food is delicious! Like, very very tasty. The menu is smaller, but I think the selection is impeccable. My only suggestion would be adding a side if you order a sandwich. The is smaller (but sooo delicious) and I think a majority of people would need a little extra. I do wish there was a true appetizer selection, but only because the service is slow. Don't get me wrong, the servers were great. We weren't checked on much, but that's fine with me. However, we waited an hour for a table after being told it's be quick (10-15 minutes). The hostess cannot control that, but what was frustrating is apparently she was calling my parties name but none of us heard it. Which was hard to hear because we were in the main area waiting patiently (and quietly literally next to where she was). The system in place was chaotic and other parties were having the same issues. After being sat, the wait for our order was long but again it happens. Overall, great place and just phenomenal food! But be ready to wait. It's definitely a 5-star place, but the waiting system chaos takes a star down for me personally.

Yelp
Best place for breakfast/lunch!!! The food is amazing ESPECIALLY the grilled cheese and the Tom Brady mImosa! Me and my boyfriend love coming here as much as we can! We're lucky to live around the corner. The staff is amazing they take the time to get to know you and are amazing at their jobs!!! If you don't try sweet life you're missing out!

Mi M.

Yelp
Brunch anytime... yes please! Nice neighborhood place with familiar faces, happy families and friendly staff. 'Hair of the dog' drinks are spot on - HALL-LE-LU. Just what I need. I'm omelette obsessed, hubby is a pancake purveyor and seriously consistent good food. Can't go too wrong with breakfast ... does that make me a basic brunch bia? Oh well - owning it.

Mike P.

Yelp
Great food and service, they accommodated our group of 7 at the last minute. Had the crab Benedict, it was great. They also have great drinks. The host and owner was so nice and welcoming. Definitely recommend!

Richard T.

Yelp
Nice breakfast and lunch. It seems a waste to have the bar and outdoor searing but then to close at 3PM. We would come regularly for dinner, if it were available.

Deirdre F.

Yelp
The food here is amazing, but the service is even better. It starts with Eileen when you walk in the door. She always makes sure everyone is taken care of and seated promptly. We always sit at the counter and have a great experience!

Joshua R.

Yelp
So my fiancé and I are foodies and we eat out quite a bit. We move quite a bit also because we are tattoo artists. So I'm at the pleasure of experiencing food from all around the United States and breakfast places are usually a dime a dozen. But occasionally you come across these hidden gems is a little places that have everything and anything you could expect a gourmet restaurant in downtown Las Vegas to have. This place is is really really good. I don't believe that any other breakfast place I've eaten out within 15 miles of 20 miles of this area even closely compares. The lunch menu is cool the sandwiches last everything on them is super fresh. it's reasonably priced. The menu is not enormous, but there's definitely enough choices for you to be happy and they are happy to make adjustments for you. What they do there they do very well. They also have a bar with servers who are experienced enough to make you a drink properly, and everybody was very nice and pleasant. I watched the crowd for the length of the time that I was there and everybody seems happy with what they had going on. It was refreshing.

Carol F.

Yelp
My husband and I have breakfast at Sweet Life almost every Saturday. We always have great service, attentive, friendly and efficient. We usually have something like the hash and eggs (excellent) or the eggs Bennie. We like to sit at the bar and chat with local treasure, Steve who knows what we want and delivers our coffee before we even have to ask for it. The other servers are equally nice as well. We run into many of our neighbors when eating at Sweet Life so it makes our neighborhood feel more like a small town. They serve cocktails now which is nice. My husband enjoys a bloody with brunch occasionally. Today they had a valentines special, red velvet pancakes which were excellent! Fast forward 4 years. Still awesome! We love Sweet Life

Angel X.

Yelp
Great Sandwiches I've had their treats and don't get me wrong they have fire pastries and baked goods On the other hand if you're stopping by for a quick bite for lunch, you can't go wrong with the turkey swiss bacon sandwich. No matter the choice of bread, it is sure to make your day, I'm not sure if the bread is made in house but I'll tell you right now the bread alone is worth the trip over and the chips that accompany your order polish the order nicely the restaurant has a gread ambiance and makes a sitdown lunch well worth the time spent

Peggy S.

Yelp
Wonderful staff and good food. Several days a week I have my breakfast there.

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast and everything was incredible. They have a full liquor bar if you want alcohol with brunch or lunch, they have to go coffee and pastries, and the space has indoor and outdoor seating. The oatmeal with home fries and toast was so so good. I've also had the big one breakfast sandwich which is amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant

Mia B.

Yelp
Y'all know I love brunch, and this place had just the right amount of magic to set off our girl's weekend, appropriately called #BostonTeaParty (all tea, ALL shade lol). Located on a quaint strip of small restaurants and cafes, we were surprised to walk into this bustling cafe that quickly accommodated our large group! Our servers were all so sweet, and the beautiful decor and sweet goodies made everything just right! When food arrived, everyone loved the great flavors and accompaniments that set off breakfast and brunch favorites- The perfect berry compost for my friend's brioche French toast and the savory Irish bacon that was included on my burger. We could barely make it through our meal quick enough because our hearts were so set on getting to the baked goodies! At exit, I snagged a few house-made macaroons (YUM at the Blueberry Pie one!) and some petite cookies that I really didn't want to share (sigh... but I did lol). Sweet life will definitely be at the top of my list once I make it back to this lovely city!

Haja F.

Yelp
This is my second time here and I was not disappointed. Had a great experience both times. The staff is really friendly and the service is great. I ordered the crab cake burger with fries. It was really delicious. I finished everything on my plate. For drinks the house red sangria is a great choice, refreshing and tasty. Also tried their drink special of the day Tully's sippy cup, not my absolute favorite but it is alright. Has a bit of a bitter after taste that's brief. Some people might not mind it. I'll recommend trying this place if you are looking for something reasonably priced and delicious.

Catherine A.

Yelp
I love Sweet Life! It's been open for a little while , and it's definitely a gem in lower mills. I love coming here for brunch with friends and family. Their ham, egg, and cheese sandwich is my favorite! Fluffy scrambled eggs, gooey cheese , and a creamy honey mustard sauce . The best! They also have delicious French toast and pancakes. But one thing I want to make sure to highlight in this review are the hands of the baker here.....Oh. My. Gooooossshh!!! Everything she bakes is perfection! From the cupcakes to the macaroons, to the giant cookies! delicious! I decided to order a cake from sweet life for my sisters birthday because I loved their desserts so much . I got a purple unicorn chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and it was GORGEOUS! Everything I imagined and more ! And when we cut it it was the best chocolate cake I've ever had !! Everyone was raving about how good it was ! They are amazing! Unfortunately they aren't taking anymore cake orders at the moment. I was really hoping to order one for my birthday . In the meantime I'll continue to stop by for my brunch and macaroon fix

Lisa C.

Yelp
Where else do you have to pay for syrup when you order French toast? And once someone brought our food we never saw the waiter until he brought the check, and No it was not busy.

Melissa K.

Yelp
Sweet Life is my staple breakfast spot in Dorchester. This is a very cute light and bright space, but you're not coming here for frills. You come here for very reasonably priced, delicious food and the local treatment. The chatty staff has the Boston accent to boot. My favorite order is either the power breakfast sandwich or a custom omelette with feta mushrooms and spinach. You won't leave hungry or broke. The portions are huge and the food is super tasty. Not to mention the coffee and iced coffee is strong and good.

Kristine A.

Yelp
Yes it's busy for brunch, so expect to wait. Just make sure you get your name in & figure out who's doing what. As some people are waiting for take out orders, others waiting to be seated so there is plenty of confusion when you walk in. After you get through all that & finally get seated, the counter is a pretty tight space, so tables are better. The food & service were both good though.

Kelsey J.

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches and subs!!!!! I got a Cesar salad wrap and my boyfriend got the turkey swiss sandwich. Excellent!

Jessica P.

Yelp
I went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The hostess was very welcoming and helpful with getting my baby seating at the table. I ordered the corn beef hash and it was really flavorful. I also ordered kid pancake. My waitress was attentive and service was fast. The establishment was clean. The environment was family oriented.

Ellen C.

Yelp
I went here for brunch on a Sunday morning and was surprised by how good it was. I got the half portion of the corned beef hash and eggs. For a half portion, it was still a good amount of food and I left feeling very satisfied. The corned beef hash itself was one of the best I've ever had with the perfect combination: strings of corned beef, onions, and potatoes. It was all washed down with a cup of hot black coffee- nice and strong, not watered down at all. In terms of service, I had a great experience. We were seated right away and promptly got our orders taken. The food came out quickly even though tables were beginning to fill up. I will definitely be back soon.

Mark D.

Yelp
My first visit. Long wait, pretty much for everything. They were nice though. They seemed to be understaffed. The best grits I've had in a restaurant in a very long time!

Diana D.

Yelp
Steve let me order a bacon cheeseburger on a Greek salad - which wasn't on the menu. Served perfectly. I was on my own and the hostess came over to chat and was super hospitable and engaging. Great vibe, great food, great service.

Rhea B.

Yelp
Great service (Eileen, and the other servers), and a perfect place for COVID as it's large and airy. Nice breakfast sandwiches, and drinks. We also bought some bakery items, including a passionfruit bonbon. Yum! Want to return to try other items on the menu.

Phil C.

Yelp
For the price you pay at this bakery, Sweet Life isn't that bad. In fact, I like coming here. I generally come just for the bread, and like the Irish brown bread and brioche the most. The brown bread is rustic and very hearty. A slice of that will keep you filled. The brioche, while could use a bit more butter and egg, is a good value. A small brioche a tete for 50 cents is bargain (two are good for a light breakfast). The brioche comes in different sizes, and they're pretty well-priced as well. The pain de mie is standard bread...nothing special. I've had the apricot and raspberry cookies and both are good filling, while having a moist cookie. The cupcakes are fine, though aren't really my favorites. For lunch, I did enjoy the chicken salad on brioche. The chicken salad was simple and didn't have all the fanciness that a Waldorf has, which is fine with me. Apples, grapes, and walnuts should not be in a chicken salad. The chicken and dumplings soup was warm, hearty, full of chicken and dumplings, along with vegetables. Table service is good, while counter service for baked goods is inconsistent. One day, you'll have prompt service at the counter, the next you'll be waiting 5 minutes even though there is no one in front of you. You'll be wondering if everyone disappeared into the bread abyss. I'll try brunch sometime when I get the chance. Underrated bakery...but needs a website.

Cayce T.

Yelp
Found this place after a late lunch in the city. It is very very very amazing. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. My friend and I were greeted by Mark the lovely gentleman at the bar. We came in when no one else was in the building and he was so kind to us. My friend wanted a frozen drink and although they don't make them here Mark improvised and made her an alcoholic milkshake. What a refreshing gesture. When a restaurant makes whatever a customer requests as long as they have it on hand, even when it's not on the menu... that my friends deserves 10 stars. Shane and Mark were so pleasant to us the entire time we sat at the bar. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place! Don't delay come in today hahah! So last but not least we came in for dessert and drinks which were great and my friend and I got the peach macaroon on recommendation from Mark and it was incredible!!!

Rauny B.

Yelp
Just discovered this gem for brunch in Dorchester Lower Mills. Food and drinks were great and the service was excellent. Eileen was a great hostess! Try the baked goods and coffee too. Will definitely visit again soon.

Alisha B.

Yelp
Best macarons! My coffee today was perfect to help my migraine. My mini me had her first macaron today and she loves it.

Alexandra W.

Yelp
I came here for breakfast with my parents. Pros: The hostess was extremely friendly and so was our waitress. The fruit bowl served with my meal was great. The location and ambiance inside the restaurant is very welcoming. Cons: The service was a bit slow considering there weren't a lot of people there. The food was not great for the price. I wouldn't recommend getting any form of coffee there. The home fries seemed like they were store bought and warmed for serving and the turkey sausage was rubbery. I'm not likely to come back for breakfast. Perhaps lunch is better.

Danessa D.

Yelp
This is the perfect brunch spot situated in a quaint neighborhood. I don't like to brunch on the weekends because it's usually crowded but this place wasn't too busy. We got seated right away. The host I can't remember her name was super sweet, showered us with compliments all the way to our table, lol. I literally wanted to eat everything on the menu, everything look soooo good! I really liked the mushroom quiche. The service was great, decor homely modern feel... you just can't go wrong with this cafe.

Hal M.

Yelp
This place is great for a weekend brunch. We usually sit at the counter and the waitstaff is always attentive and friendly. Food is enjoyable, prices are great, and they are always consistent with quality. A lovely neighborhood place with a casual ambiance. Lower Mills and the surrounding area is lucky to have Sweet Life down the street.

Alex G.

Yelp
Decent brunch. Overall great location and staff. The food was ok. My eggs were cold and bit over cooked. The english muffin was great and the service was amazing. The coffee was meh for the price. The cookies were excellent however.

Kettlynn P.

Yelp
I just moved to Dorchester and I already want to come here every weekend! The atmosphere is friendly and warm. The space is open and inviting. The food is delicious. What I love most is the service! Everyone is super nice and accommodating. This is true today! Emma is a great server and she is in form with all who work there. I really needed a pleasant morning with strong and tasty coffee . I came alone and I felt super seen and valued. Keep it up .

Symone A.

Yelp
I love this place ! Food is amazing , customer service is great ! Get the Tom Brady or Gronkowsi drink when you go !

Jason H.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast! Hostess Irene did a great job directing traffic as guests arrived on a Sunday morning. Perfect for kids - crayons, plastic kids cups w straws, crayons, plastic fireman's hats for each kid. Mom and dad had eggs benedict (one with corned beef hash), and blueberry silver dollar pancakes for kids. All delicious.

Charlie S.

Yelp
Very cute classic breakfast fare. The large marble counter has feel of a classic diner but also has a full bar. Service is fast and efficient even when busy Food is good. Typical breakfast menu with a large selection of Bennies and an Irish breakfast if you are into that. Can't go wrong.

David P.

Yelp
Sweet Life is making a good effort, but it falls somewhat short. Everything is "okay," except for the coffee, which is pretty disappointing. They could definitely make some adjustments and improve significantly. The main problem is that they are charging close to Boston prices for food that is only SLIGHTLY better than your totally generic small town breakfast spot, Examples include breakfast potatoes that are undercooked and lacking all crips, and served lukewarm. Hollandaise on the benedicts that isn't quite right. Smoked salmon on things where the salmon has too much of the brown parts that you'd normally not serve. Willing to come back and would love for the place to improve with some small tweaks.

J. G.

Yelp
I love the community vibe and feel this place offers! A true neighborhood gem if you happen to be in the Lower Mills area looking for a cafe to work or brunch. Make sure to ask for Eileen. Her warmth and humor brings so much value to this establishment. She's like the really awesome auntie who everyone loves. Every cafe needs and Eileen! :)
