Love the food. Hate the service. The girl with the pink hair was coarse. I ordered a bagel with egg and bacon $12.00 yikes. No prices on the menu board. She should have told me before I gave her my card. Nothing on the card reader either. I seemed to have bothered her. The guy in there is super friendly and accommodating. I will still keep going there. Please update your menu board with prices. P.S. the bagel was awesome.

I've been enjoying biscuits and gravy for about 60 years and this was by FAR the best of any I've ever had! It was so good that I wanted to call the bakery and tell him how good it was but I couldn't stop eating. I did eventually call them after I was stuffed. Absolutely delicious. Really nice people and I'm just beginning to eat all the sweets I got. So good. So good!

On holiday and was passing through Akron. Had heard many good things about Sweet Mary’s so popped in. Every review was absolutely spot on! Now, let me tell you, I am no stranger to a good cookie. These were just superb! The staff were so helpful. They asked if my wife and I had any specific needs, gluten free etc. we’re happy to talk us through the range of cookies. We left very happy. An absolute must visit if you are road tripping as we were.

Google
A great bakery! My family and I love coming here for a quick treat every once in a while. My mom ordered their cinnamon buns for Christmas and they were delightful. Love a place that stands up for the rights of the people, too. ❤️ Mary’s cookies, pies, pastries, biscuits, quiches, all of the above are amazing! If anything, the store can get a little cramped when it’s busy, but the lack of personal space is worth it every time and the wait time is not bad.

Google
I cannot recommend this bakery enough! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a display case full of treats that are almost too gorgeous to eat. Every pastry is a literal work of art, showing a level of detail and craft that is hard to find. Beyond the food, the staff here is truly special. They are incredibly empathetic and take the time to make every customer feel seen and heard, which creates such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. What I find most impressive, however, is how they use their immense talent to express their First Amendment rights. It is so refreshing and inspiring to see a local business use their platform and their craft to take a stand and share their voice. It’s rare to find a place that feeds both your soul and your community spirit. Do yourself a favor and stop by!

Google
This bakery has been one of my absolute favorites during my six-month stay in Akron! I loved it so much that I went three times a week! I honestly wish I could have gone even more often. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu, and every single item was delicious but the vanilla cruller is hands-down my favorite! The staff are incredibly kind, and they serve the best crullers in the world. Thanks to this place, my time in Akron was even sweeter. I highly recommend it! If I ever come back to Akron, this will be one of my first stops!!! no question. + October 15, 2025 After finishing my internship in Akron, I went back to Korea and now I finally came back to visit again after 5 months! Visiting Sweet Mary’s is always one of my must-dos whenever I’m in town🥹 My favorite (and super sweet!) staff recognized me right away! She always called me sweetheart, and still does!💛 The cruller is still absolutely delicious, and I’ll definitely come back a few more times before I leave!

Google
I have never had more beautiful, delicious cookies in my life. The owner even gave all of my kids a free cookie because they helped an elderly couple struggling to get their Great Dane into a Mini Cooper!!! They each picked out a cookie while I ordered 18 dozen for a local event we were hosting on storytelling.

Katie S.

Google
My favorite bakery! They have gluten free options and I am celiac. The best oatmeal raisin cookies! Also, they stand up for social justice and the owner is amazing!! Cannot recommend enough

Alexander C.

Yelp
I ate a bunch of food in here and got terrible diarrhea. I got it all over the floor and on the displays of cookies. I asked them to bake 6 million star-shaped cookies. They said it'd take too long. The management of the store didn't even clean up the place after I had explosive diarrhea.
google avatar

Roxy F.

Yelp
Beyond rude but the worst thing was the hair in my daughter's food! When I kindly brought to the owners attention she yelld at me! Needless to say words were exchanged I got my cup full of ICE and left!!!! It's a shithole!
google avatar

Don N.

Yelp
Exceptional staff and service! If you're in Akron you should definitely hit them up!!
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
One good improvement would be to not politicize your business. When you start doing that, you polarize yourself from many people who would otherwise want to do business with you, and perhaps have done so in the past. your food should not contain political messages. The ambience is satisfactory. It's what I would expect going into a bakery Oh
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
Horrible business located in Akron, Ohio. They choose to bake in hate rather than serve their community. Vulgar writing F the police cookies. So many other good baker's in the area to support.
google avatar

Sheila L.

Yelp
This bakery is advertising and recommending cookies decorated with F*CK ICE written on them in frosting. If you're a law enforcement officer or military veteran or respect and observe the laws of the United States, you will BOYCOTT this radical Leftist owned business and spend your hard earned money at businesses who value Americans over illegal alien child rapists, murderers and foreign drug cartel members.
google avatar

Pamela H.

Yelp
Terrible service and the cookies were disappointing. I found out they are politicizing their items after I left when I seen some people outside. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Kat P.

Yelp
Disgusting place!!!! Definitely wouldn't recommend it. I wish I could leave zero star. One star is too much for this place.
google avatar

Stacy Z.

Yelp
The most delicious bakery in Akron - fresh, high-quality ingredients and terrific service! Pairs perfectly with a political message that speaks humanity!
google avatar

Marge B.

Yelp
The bakery was dirty inside and the food was grose. Dont waste your time nor money. I have little time to waste on going back when it was that bad...there are other bakeries in area

Stacy V.

Yelp
Would not recommend this bakery. They need to keep their political views to themselves and stop making vulgar cookies

Ella J.

Yelp
Why do people like you willingly destroy your business by pushing some stupid political agenda just to score points and show just how "hip" you are? But I guess you're OK with illegal criminals ie: rapists, sex offenders, pedos, murderers, domestic batterers, and Tren de Agura gang members being in our country. Thanks for letting us know.

Deborah G.

Yelp
Don't support this bakery. They choose a message of hate and have no respect for law enforcement.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Overpriced and owner is full of hate. Should just close down and learn to bake better

P J J.

Yelp
I don't care about your political views. All I want is some cookies. Not interested in your political views. Enough already.

Brendan M.

Yelp
Everything, especially their cookies, cakes and stand against fascism. Couldn't recommend highly enough!
google avatar

William F.

Yelp
The best pecan sticky bun I've ever consumed! It's a tiny little place with giant deliciousness. Service was moderately paced but worth waiting for. Great coffee!
google avatar

Alicia M.

Yelp
The treats are the best in town. The vegetarian quiche was full of veggies and cheese and was very filling. The macaroon with salted caramel had the perfect ratio of salty sweetness. The macaroon was both crisp on the outside with just the right amount of chewy.
google avatar

Cay B.

Yelp
Rude staff and dry pastries. Won't be returning here. This is not the only bakery in the area

L. H.

Yelp
I absolutely love the blackberry ginger scones and the blueberry mascarpone crumble cake! I also really love the Americanos. Overall, the service is my favorite - I love the warm and positive greeting I receive when I enter.
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
A classic Akron bakery. Varieties of macaroons, rotations of new croissant specials, and recently addition of coffee refreshments. I love how passionate this group of bakers are, involved in their community and supporting local movements. It's only fair that we return the favor and support their local business. The staff is so cute, making sure to update their followers on Instagram on all the latest specials. Overall, I love how involved and inclusive this whole staff and establishment is.

Yelp
We live in Cleveland, and don't get down Akron way very often. I was really looking forward to trying this from all the reviews. I found it meh. The cheese danish was cinnamony (not a plus for me) and the cheese wasn't very cheesy. The vanilla cruller was also cinnamony. My wife liked the two scones (lemon/blueberry and butter pecan) and the cinnamon roll. The next day the leftovers were hard like rocks, even though we put them in plastic baggies. I wanted to try some cheesecake, but we didn't see any out. We waited about 20 minutes in line. We won't be back.
google avatar

Rick H.

Yelp
Very nice small place...i stop by on occasion for coffee and pastry and to bring one home for my partner. Always greeted nicely and given descriptions of all the yummy baked goods... Haven't tried the savory treats but based on the line out the door I think they are just fine.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Sweet Mary's for over a year since I began following them on social. They reopened last weekend and I was so excited to finally check them out this morning. I'm very sad to say I'm seriously let down. To begin, I'll say it is not first timer friendly. The menu is vague, nothing is described, and cases were sparse, at 9:30am (they open at 9). Items in the cases were not labeled so I really had no idea what was what. They offer coffee, but there is no coffee menu to be found. We opted for lattes which were good, but I'm not sure what else they offer. Now for the pastries--we ordered 5 macarons, which are delicious. My husband got the "meat stuffed croissant" no idea what meat it's stuffed with, but we were surprised to receive it cold. Had to warm up at home. I ordered an Asiago bagel and spicy pimento spread. Our experience took about 20 minutes, there were 3 ahead of us in line so be prepared for a bit of a wait. Happy to see another locally owned small business coming out the other side post COVID closures but I'd love to see a few improvements to their menu board before I hurry back.

Yelp
Love this bakery - every thing has always tasted good and I love their spirit too! My favorite is the sugar cookies and their social justice stands.

Yelp
Visited here for the first time today. Loved it! Very positive vibe! Excellent selection of baked goods, macarons, and beverages. Appreciated the fact that gluten free items were also available and in a separate case. Also tried the black blueberry tea and it was amazing! The staff person working at the counter was friendly and helpful. The tea was great! Loved the flavor and it was refreshing! Ate the gluten free zucchini bar with a cream cheese filling. So good! Will definitely stop here again the next time I'm in downtown Akron!

Yelp
This place is located on a busy street. I got lucky I found parking right in front. But they were closed. Hours on the internet didn't match the hours the employees were there. Very disappointed in this fact. I can only give a review based on these facts.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. They cater to dietary needs. They have regular pastries along with gluten free. There is even dairy free options for beverages. I got a gluten free blueberry scone that was good.

Salil C.

Yelp
AMAZING FOOD!! must visit this bakery if you are in town. Loved their cheesecake, cinnamon roll, and macrons!!

Yelp
I've been hearing good things and I always love supporting a local business. They provided cookies for an event I attended a couple years ago and I enjoyed them. While I'm not sure it quite lived up to all the hype when I visited on my own, it was still a sweet little shop. The employees were friendly and it wasn't crowded on a Friday afternoon. However, there is very little selection and I am sure it's best to come closer to when they open. I selected a couple iced sugar cookies and a cinnamon roll. They were good, but likely had been sitting in the display case for awhile. Maybe a little less fresh than they had been several hours ago, but not bad by any stretch. I would try again earlier in the day and maybe order one of the savory pastries. Also- The cinnamon roll would have tasted better heated up. I was surprised they didn't offer that option. Over all- nice little urban bakery downtown Akron.

Tim O.

Yelp
Not good and the service was horrible! You will get better cookies and desserts at giant eagle and served with a smile not a attitude

Yelp
Holy (Sweet) Mary, mother of Gawd, this place is fantastic. Unpretentious yet super fab quality + unique treats. I went in for the first time thinking I would happily grab a coffee + simple pastry... and instead I took home two incredible breakfasts, two pastries, a delicious iced coffee drink for $35. The breakfast sandwich was to die for, and I might have just snuck a bite of tmrw's breaky (the flakiest chive, bacon, cheese biscuit w/ a side of sausage gravy) in the car, for research's sake! Just moved back to hometown of Akron and I can't wait to go here on the regular.

Kate S.

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent service. I have a gluten allergy and it was accommodated well. The GF biscuits and gravy are the best I've ever had.

Yelp
Dear World, In September, I visited Ohio to attend Nine Inch Nails' "Fan Day" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland -- and then catch the band's subsequent concert near Akron, where I was staying. Just before leaving Akron for Cleveland, I saw Sweet Mary's Bakery across the street. I knew the best way to say "thank you" to the band and staff for staging such an awesome event was by providing top-notch baked goods. Every true NIN fan is aware of two things: 1) When Trent Reznor sings "I wanna feel you from the inside," he's speaking to, and about, a chocolate chip cookie, and 2) Trent really, really loves rainbows. I asked the friendly staff at Mary's for a dozen assorted cookies -- and, if possible, one with the band's logo customized with frosting on top. Could they do that in, say, 15 minutes? Ohio's cookie experts were up for what I clearly didn't understand was an insane request. That customized cookie (pictured) replicated the logo exactly. Like the others purchased, it almost certainly achieved the perfect balance of sweetness and softness -- or at least that's what I assume, based off the smile of the band's staff photographer/social media person. Later, I approached fans/RRHOF staff with a few leftovers. Many used words like "fantastic" and "delicious," or simply asked where the bakery was located. Some more memorable comments (though my recollection is a little foggy, so these may not be the actual events): "Need you. Dream you. Find you. Taste you," one fan said, munching on and muttering to his cookie. "Love you." "I WANT A LITTLE BIT! I WANT A TASTE OF IT!" another yelled, unable to control himself. "BITE! CHEW!" Though I was slightly afraid the man would bite the hand that fed him, I offered the box anyway; he politely took a treat, ate it, and smiled. "Now doesn't that make you feel better?" I asked. He nodded and said he could finally sleep soundly -- that everything was all right. Though I had a race the next day, I finally tried a cookie myself -- and realized I had stumbled upon the best bakery in all of Ohio. "This is the only time I really feel alive," I said to no one in particular.

Yelp
Adorable bakery tucked in downtown Akron. Heard such fantastic things about Mary's and they were all true. I of course was extremely indecisive since EVERYTHING in the display looked delectable so I decided to get a small sampling of sweets. As pictured I tried a chocolate croissant, vanilla cruller, and a slice of s'mores pie. While all were delicious, the cruller was my favorite of the three! Such a classic pastry to indulge with. Can't wait to return!
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Top-notch baked goods, right here in Akron. None of that frosting-drowned stuff you find at other bakeries. Flavorful, well-considered, well-executed recipes every dang time they open those doors. The quiche is amazing, especially with the bacon jam. We've also gotten a bunch of sweet stuff -- beautifully flaky, buttery goodness, sweet, but never over-sweet. Vague menu descriptions and wonky hours are par for the course in my (limited) experience with higher-end bakeries. Not sure why -- maybe something about eccentric genius. Can't be easy running a business in downtown Akron right now, but they're making really great stuff, and I'm praying they survive the ghost town that downtown has become.
google avatar

Patty M.

Yelp
Best bakery in town! We ordered spinach and feta croissants, lemon blueberry lemon scone and Quiche Loraine. It's super yummy! We really enjoy every bite of it! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
AMAZING goods, especially when they have the gluten free brownie bars. I can't remember the name of them but they are SOOOO GOOD. The croissants are amazing, cheesecake... whatever they have it's absolutely delicious. They cater to their community which I LOVE being an Akronite. A great small business with friendly service. I wish they were open more but they are technically a micro bakery. Get there fast! I got a hilarious peanut butter pie for Valentine's Day. They do it all!!! Very clean. You have to watch their social media to see specials or just ask what they have sometimes. I think it's super fun to try new things like that!
google avatar

Tami B.

Yelp
The best European pastries on this side of the pond. Sweet and/or savory, these are delicious. Pistachio rose scones, rhubarb croissant, mango coconut twist, ham and cheese, spinach and feta, and the cherry tomato cheese were amazing. Don't get me started on the macarrons!!
google avatar

Aisha P.

Yelp
This place was incredible. Delicious food and great service. Everyone was so polite. The little bakery is warm and inviting and feels cozy. Definitely plan on returning soon.

Yelp
just great must try it staff are amazing You can't find anything wrong to complain about

Yelp
Going to Sweet Mary's is my favorite treat! Everything is delicious - sometimes I order gluten free just because the coffee cake is so tasty!
google avatar

Yelp
this is my favorite bakery . It is well worth the money and the workers are very nice .

Yelp
This bakery is packed with a lot of love. I love businesses that you can tell put a lot of time and energy into their product and shop. Parking is available on the street and behind the shop in a small parking lot for free. I didn't have a problem finding a spot in the afternoon on a weekday. The bakery has a big seating area for patrons to hang out in- at least 10 or so tables. Their menu/specials for the day are written on a chalkboard. To be honest, I was really overwhelmed. Everything in the bakery looked delicious. I was set on coming here to try the macarons, but I just had to leave with a slice of chocolate peanut butter pie. The macarons were delicious- I had to pace myself eating them because they were some of the best I've ever had. Creamy, melt-in-your-mouth, not too sugary, and adorable. The chocolate peanut butter pie was also delicious - more peanut butter than chocolate, but whipped to perfection. I can't wait to come back to Sweet Mary's and pick out more macarons and try more of their desserts!

Lauren L.

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing staff! Only complaint is I wish they were open more! I highly recommend the BLT, a sugar cookie or any of the super yummy cheesecakes. Anything you get will be good though!

Kat F.

Yelp
I can't express how wonderful this bakery is; they have an amazing and wide range of pastries, drinks, cheese cakes and macros to select from with flavors changing along with the seasons. Personally I enjoy the roll of the dice going at different times to see what's left in the pastry case. The employees are always the sweetest and most helpful group of people. The bakery itself feels like a comfy, warm, and safe place to be, I recommend this place to literally anyone I can.
google avatar

Kimberly D.

Yelp
I came to try out the pączki on Pączki Day. Picked up a half dozen assorted flavors. They were a huge hit. Will definitely stop back to try more baked goods!
google avatar

Lorena G.

Yelp
They mostly have breakfast and small lunch items like soups and quiches. I had the chili and it was delicious, not too spicy but very hearty. I also had a slice of apple pie which tasted great, the only part I did not like it that they put granulated sugar on the pie top. Their bakery case it really small, they had three pie, cookies and cinnamon rolls. As I was sitting and eating they brought out red velvet cupcakes, so I'm guessing that as they make more dessert they put them out on display.
google avatar

Yelp
Let me tell you about this place! Holyyyy bakery. I'm always someone who loves to hit a bakery when I'm on a vacation to like New York, Chicago, Orlando, or Los Angeles. And you know when you get that omg thing that you just wish you could find at home? This is it. Absolutely remarkable products. Cookies, cakes, pies, tiramisu, PERFECT FRENCH MACARONS, biscuits, etc. All from scratch and made with love. Supplies are limited though as everything is FRESH, but its worth getting up a little earlier OR just place an order. I haven't had a bad experience yet even when I step outside my comfort zone. Oh and don't forget the discount bins. They always have reduced still amazing goodies. You gotta check this place out! PLUS ITS A LOCAL BUSINESS! Literally no cons ;)
