Sweet Peas Country Diner

Very good diner and fair prices. We stopped there for a quick dinner with our grandson. We had a good tasting soup, freshly made salads with grilled chicken and a deluded children burger. Lemonades were freshly made and a delicious strawberry dessert made by owner’s mother. Everything was very clean. My grandson recommends this place 😊and liked the waitress He says “They were super Duper Duper nice.”

My partner and I stopped in for breakfast after camping nearby. We were seated and served immediately on a Sunday morning. I got iced coffee and had his side of potatoes, and he got a breakfast platter that he enjoyed. We loved the classic diner feel.

Have eaten there many, many times over the past two years, and have brought friends there for dinner too. The food has always been consistently delicious, no matter what day of the week we've eaten there...another words you don't have to wonder whose doing the cooking on any night/day. The blu-cheese dressing alone OUGHT to win contests, and blue-ribbons! FANTASTIC. Service is good. The prices are fair (and worth every penny)...Hard to believe this kind of food comes out of a small Diner. Absolute perfection, imho.

Looking for a simple place for a quick lunch on a Saturday between 2 gardens my mom and I were visiting, this place fit the bill. The paintings on the entry doors were a nice touch. The booths around the perimeter were all taken, so we sat at a table in the center. My Classic Reuben was fresh, and the French fries were delicious. My mother's Grilled Portabella Sandwich was also good. Their menu had a nice selection of things to choose from, and it was obvious by the number of people there that this is a popular local eatery.

Was an amazing dinner experience. A bit slower because they make most everything from scratch, but it made me miss the old diner days and I never even lived through them. Our server Jynx was nice and helped us out with everything. The ice cream wasn't made in house but it was definitely better than most of what you normally find. Highly recommend it

We put off eating here because we assumed the menu would be egg whites and tofu ( based on name and appearance) NOT the case. The food is great diner food. We have been for breakfast multiple times as well as dinner. Other family members have now gone and loved it as well. Service is great. The place has a really homey type vibe. The booths are sectioned off so it gives you a sense of being a bit more private. The coffee is excellent ( as well as the waitresses who have been on top of refills every single time, without asking).

The food is good and so is the value. The portions are generous. I regret to take away a star, because the restaurant itself truly needs a deep cleaning, 🙏🏼.

Love this place. Good food, extremely friendly service, and big portions for an affordable price. For anyone who thinks restaurant prices have become super inflated come here. I ordered a meatloaf dinner for $14 that included 3 slices of meatloaf, a very generous portion of California blend veggies, one big scoop of mash potatoes and a full sized dinner salad. The other dishes people ordered were just as big and reasonably priced. On Tuesdays, they have taco Tuesday and the loaded nachos ($12) were great with pulled pork. The waitstaff was so friendly; they pushed together 2 tables to accommodate our party of 8 and even turned off the fan because we were too cold. Service was efficient. Highly recommended.

Sweet Pea's Hillsdale Country Diner took over O's Hillsdale Country Diner in July 2022, under new ownership. This casual homey country diner serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner at fair prices. The breakfast offerings include eggs, omelets, egg sandwiches & wraps, pancakes, Texas French toast, Belgian waffles, hash, bagels and breakfast sides. The lunch & dinner offerings include sandwiches, burgers, salads, soup, appetizers, tacos, quesadillas, comfort food entrees, fried seafood, steak, shakes, and desserts. I stopped by for a late lunch recently. They usually close at 3pm on Sundays, so I pull in around 2:40 pm and I could sit any table. The place has booths with plexiglass dividers, tables, and stools up at the counter. I was given both breakfast and lunch/dinner menus and informed that I needed to place my order by 2:45 or they do only takeout up until close. I quickly ordered the Hillsdale Burger ($14 plus tax) served with fries, dill pickle, and slaw and an ice water. My food was served to me in about 7 minutes. The burger was served open face, a big thick beef burger with lettuce, tomato slices, caramelized onions, melted Swiss cheese and grilled ham on a thick soft bun. The crisp fries had a slight salty taste and the slaw was sweet and wet. I was presented the check after I was done eating, which was $15.12 with tax and before tip. The staff was putting away the chairs onto the tables at 3pm sharp. I settled up and headed out on the road. Overall, my thick burger was very good. I would like to try out some of their other offerings and specials next time I'm driving through town.

To start off, we had a not so sweet pea server this morning (4/8/24). She was not warm and friendly, no smile, barely responded when we asked for something, which wasn't a lot, and had the coffee pot in her hand and passed right by us without asking if we'd like a refill. Since I did not get the offer or another refill, I kindly asked if I could have a to go cup. She did not tell me it'd be a $2 charge. I saw other's come in and she conversed with them just fine, so I'm assuming when you're an out of town-er, you don't receive kind or equal treatment. Either way, the food is basic diner food, eggs were cooked as ordered, potatoes were pretty good, and the blueberry pancakes were decent. Friendlier service would help this place a lot.

Hmmm, landed here only because nothing else was open! It wasn't busy at all, we sat right down and waitress came right over for our drink order. They came quickly so we ordered, one mixed greens salad and one chef salad.....we waited quite a while, at least 40 minutes, remember it wasn't busy, and these are pretty basic salads. My friend gave her basic salad a 1 1/2!! It was so basic. I had the chef's salad, and it was overloaded with the meat. It was ok. Very disappointed with service and food. We don't recommend!

Little hidden gem off the beaten path. Food was excellent. Affordable. Large quantity.

New owners, great food. My favorite is breakfast, but the rice pudding is the best I have ever had! Burgers and fries are good too.

Hits the spot when in the area. Good, hearty meal and appreciate that it felt like a loved locale.

Good, solid, fresh food - reasonable prices. Good range of choices. Excellent, fresh green salad with blue cheese dressing. Very generous roast beef dinner main course. VERY pleasant and attentive service! We will be back!

Highly recommend! My neighbor and I had not been here for years. but heard there were new owners, so we checked it out. So glad we did! The menu has lots of comfort food, options for vegetarians, and everything was fresh and delicious. We ordered a panini and fries, and a combo platter of side dishes that was especially good. Got pepper steak to go with home fries too! Prices were reasonable, the service was excellent and friendly. The diner still has the beautiful artwork, and it is clean and bright. So glad we have a new positive in Hillsdale!

Don't order the fish and chips. The fish is a breaded cutlet, soggy, horrible, gave it to the dog.

no even good for a diner. ordered a panini and got a soaking wet sandwich with weird chewy fries. even my kid wouldn't eat her grilled cheese which also managed to be gross. coffee is burnt. horrible.

We had dinner at Sweet Pea's on Italian night. The chicken piccata and salmon puttanesca were delicious! We had breakfast here the next morning. Really good omelette and scrumptious potatoes! Everything is made with fresh ingredients. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive. It had a lovely hometown feel with beautiful cabin-type decor. A++

Had lunch @Sweetpeas on Mother's day. It was a sweet surprise. The staff, and the food were both fantastic! I had a simple Turkey club..it came with fries, and coleslaw....and because it was Mother's day I was given a flower, and wished a happy day. Now, I understand a Turkey club isn't a big deal, but I've been to plenty of places that couldn't get it right, bad presentation, little or no filling, OR taste. It was nicely plated, and very tasty. Coffee was very good, and we bought 2 of their Mugs to take home. Bought some local artists painting too. Very beautiful! All in all it was great to feel at home in a place with a really good staff, and owner. I wish for them, GREAT SUCCESS! We'll be returning some day soon for dinner. Thank you Sweetpeas!
