Sweet P's Uptown Corner

I was looking for a good diner along my route and this shop was the only one that suited my criteria. It was a great choice. A local diner with home made goodness. The dining area was nicely appointed and very clean. The hostess and waitress were super friendly and welcoming. My waitress clearly and thoroughly answers all of my questions. There were a few vague items in the menu. Anyhow, the meal items were prepared and served up promptly. I enjoyed it all. The fried green tomatoes were especially good, I have not had those in years. Come on in and enjoy. The parking lot is a bit small and was quite crowded. There were many patrons in the bar area. It appears to be a local favorite. Whole the lot was full, there were still many great seats inside so don’t let that discourage you.

First time at this location. The parking lot was almost full BUT we got right in and no wait to be seated. Our server Madison answered all of our questions. She was very pleasant and animated when we asked what her menu favorites were. She seems to like working here. Huge menu on Sunday so we expected a wait BUT Food came out SO quickly. Everything was delicious. Super clean restaurant—even the restrooms!! Delicious ribs for my choosy husband and yummy pulled pork for me. Excellent mashed potatoes and gravy!

Love the pulled chicken really tasty & tender the lighter texture vinegar based bbq sauce Is excellent! Mac n cheese- chunky coleslaw 👍- pinto beans & cornbread all very good as well! First time to try we will order again !

First visit and we loved it! Tuesday special is meatloaf or half off ribs dinner. Ribs were amazing! Love the choice of sides (you can even get banana pudding as a side) 100% recommend.

Thur July 3 I came here alone. The food was good as usual. Unfortunately the corbread was dry. It's usually moist. I remember that I did come here a few weeks ago. The cornbread was ok but not sweet as usual. I hope that the quality of this establishment does not go down. Thur Feb 13, 2025 Again the food was delicious. Again I had the Smoke and Soul chicken (white meat) with coleslaw and fries but this time with the cornbread. Oh my it was so soft and moist especially with a touch of butter. I took a slice home and my husband said 2 to take home, lol... Wed Aug 14, 2024 We came here before on July 7 and I did put a review but it seems it disappeared. I had given it a 5 star. Like last time I had the Smoke and Soul chicken (white meat) with coleslaw and fries with potato bun. They have 3 sauces (thick, thin and hot). I prefer the thick sauce. For dessert I had a special peach cobbler to go. I had a taste before bringing it home. It was good. When I got home I put the caramel sauce and ice cream that came with it and oh so good. I don't know if this dessert is served on Wednesdays and any day. My husband had the Smoke and Soul but dark meat with green beans and mac and cheese with cornbread. All in all it was yummy.

Quiet, unassuming little place with really good food at fair prices. We got here a little before dinner hour and it was almost empty. Mac and cheese with creamy and hot, green beans did not have any bacon in them, which is good for me, cornbread is not sweet and a little bit salty but quite moist. And they have real butter. Chicken is cooked perfectly. Several good barbecue sauces to try in addition to hot sauce, ketchup, they'll bring you mayo or lemon slices. Feb 2025 - Still fabulous, but they did sweeten the cornbread. It is still wonderful.

Love Sweet P's so so much. We ordered a bunch of takeout to share with family the last 2 Sundays. Both times the people who answered the phone and rang us up were very nice and professional. So delicious, like 3 grannies got together to cook but nobody has to get exhausted and sweaty cooking and cleaning. This past Sunday they forgot to give us any barbecue sauce at all. I guess it is on us to check our to go orders. This has never happened to us before at Sweet P's. Other than that, food consistently awesome.

The food was cold when it was delivered. We ordered the ribs and brisket plate, and both were dry and totally flavorless(not even any bark) as was the potato salad. The cornbread was so dry it crumbled by shaking the plate. And sides were missing from the rib plate. Great big Nope for the price they charge

Cheese dip: 12/10 Pork cracklings: 11/10 Chili: 7/10 (but he doesn't do spice) Brisket (i had mine be fatty) without sauce: 6/10 WITH sauce 10/10. All in all, pleasurable and would dine again, and order 2 orders of pork crackling and cheese dip! Also the restroom was spectacularly clean, like if someone forced me to eat my meal in it, I wouldn't be mad.

The food was just OK nothing to write home about. The brisket was dry and didn't have much flavor to it other than drenching it with barbecue sauce. The service was really good and the ambience was quiet for a Sunday.

Our server, Jacob, was great! Very friendly, efficient/attentive and helpful, during our first visit here. The chopped pork, pulled chicken, barbecue sauces, mac & cheese, okra, greens, slaw, and most everything else was really good! The brisket wasn't great, a little dry without a ton of flavor, but maybe we just hit it on an off night. An enjoyable visit, and we'll be back next time we're in the area!

I've been here several times for bbq (always great) but this was my first time trying Burger Friday. Our sever was awesome. I had the vegetarian Smoked Red Bean Burger... so, so, so, so good. No wonder it's the most expensive burger on the burger menu. I'm getting it again next time. I also had cowboy something vanilla brown ale. Loved it. Sweet P's never disappoints but today was my favorite. I can't wait to get back for another Burger Friday and that smoked red bean burger!

Started with a warm welcome soon as we hit the door. Leila greeted us at entry, was thoughtful about where she sat us given our needs, was friendly and attentive. I have a dairy allergy and always appreciate a restaurant providing me with a dairy free menu. Since they had some new items, she took the time to vet them with the kitchen staff to confirm whether I could eat them. Partner ordered the Tuesday special, andouille sausage. Ordered corn bread, smashed potato salad and fries. Not a lick of sausage left and no more than a few bites of the rest. The sausage was good - rare treat for us to be able to order it as the centerpiece and it held its own. Cornbread was traditional and moist! I asked Leila to help me choose. Ordered the BBQ plate. Leila brought me half and half chicken and pork - so moist and just the right amount of smoke, smashed potato salad - yum! - and Cole slaw which complimented everything with a fresh rush of flavor and crisp veggies. Can't say enough about the attention and care we received from our server, Leila. Beautiful interior, full bar, comfortable and varied seating options. Once again - came in too hungry and failed to take pics! Shame! The sauces - hot, sweet or spicy and all good. We came for lunch and will definitely swing in again next time we are in town. Thank you!!

Sweet P's is my favorite bbq in Knoxville, and we treat ourselves to their takeout frequently. It tastes great without the sauce, and the sides (esp. the greens and things, tater salad, and mac and cheese) are winners. Always had fast and friendly service, and this place always seems to be hopping.

This barbecue place is pretty good. They've got great meat but the only thing that I didn't like as much as the sauce, but that's just my preference. I'm gonna still give this a five star

Have had better bbq at fast food bbq joints. We won't be back. Service was okay. Pricing a bit high for what you get.

Not a bad spot for barbecue in Knoxville! Staff was super friendly, and the place is really cool and in a great location! The highlights were the sides and the ribs. I made judge a little too hard on brisket being from Texas... lol! Definitely worth a comeback!

Way better than when I first tried it in the food department. I had the ribs and the prices were insanely affordable for the quality. The service and ambience are solid too.

We had a large party (over 15) and the waiter was outstanding! I was disappointed that they had friend green tomatoes on the menu, but don't serve anymore ‍

I want to give this place five stars because they had the sense of community to leave the signage for the drug store that used to live here exposed for everyone to enjoy. And their historical images on display throughout the restaurant are a joy to be sure. But the food. Well, the food was pretty good but not worth a special stop or trip. So if you are in the area for another reason, stop by, but don't go out of your way. But Sweet P--please don't change your space, just broaden the menu a little and increase your portion size and five stars is what you'll be!

Bbq burrito is really good, I was happy with the amount of pulled pork they put in it. Fries have a great dry rub. Their hot and thick bbq sauces were good, I did not try the thin sauce. Decent selection of beers on tap. Everyone has always been nice both times I've dined here. Should definitely be rated higher than 3.5 stars.

They say you can't beat my meat!! Well, that might be true but atleast they try. Honestly, the food is good (they don't miss), the atmosphere is great (hit up the bar), and well the music is mid (sounds like a dude who is 60+ and needs a women is the DJ) I would suggest besides music.

This is a new barbecue restaurant in Fountain City. There is also a location Downtown. My husband and I shared the dish. We thought the portions would be bigger for the price, but it was just enough for us to get full. The food was good and my faves were the ribs and the mac & cheese. If you like a good cocktail or beer with your barbecue, this place is for you. Other barbecue restaurants in the area don't serve alcohol.

Really great service and cute space, but the food was only okay and the portions were small. Also interesting that it's different from the other location.

Not a really good barbecue place... Definitely wasn't worth the cost.. I should have known when we were in the parking lot and you couldn't smell the food....

I ordered their specials buy one get one free through UberEats and they canceled the order. I'm not sure if it's because I ordered multiple buy one get one free items or if it's because they were busy but don't offer the deals if you're not going to honor them. You have just lost a customer.

Walked in and instantly was not expecting anything great. The servers were all wearing clothes that resembled pajamas. There was no consistency. The waitress had no knowledge of the menu or anything and had to ask someone else about literally everything. The food all had a bbq taste even the brunch so I was no impressed and have no intent on going back. This experience could have been so much better.

The most delicious and memorable thing I enjoyed here was the BBQ Wings. It was so good that I stayed an extra day so I can revisit the restaurant to eat my fill of this delicious wings.

Cute place with a nice bar area and atmosphere. Staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The parking lot is a little odd shaped, but luckily we were able to find a spot. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice and approachable. I had the dry rub wings (6), very good flavor! I did two sides - Lima beans - which I normally love but these were definitely out of a can and left didn't not meet my expectations. The Mac and Cheese had good flavor and texture (not overdone). My husband had the ribs which were a dry rub as well. They are not baby back ribs so you definitely had a different quality. They were very tender and good flavor, you did need their bbq sauce on them, just a lot of gristle. Coleslaw was good. Beets were reasonably priced, we walked out paying around $65+ tip for all of it. Overall good flavors will try them again and something else on the menu.

Solid 5 for the food and drinks but the service we had was not great for sure. They were steady and the waiter never checked on us again, to get another drink I had to go straight to the bar, the bartender was awesome. She had some of the best drinks I have had in a long time. They are local so I am sure I will be back, even if they are a bit pricey.

This review is long overdue. I can't express how wonderful the staff at Sweet P's is to deal with. We used Sweet P's to cater my son's rehearsal dinner on June 2nd. The guests loved the food! I'm still getting compliments on how much they enjoyed the food. I cannot express how polite, helpful and wonderful the 2 ladies were that helped the night of the dinner. Being the mother of the groom and the host they recognized that I was a bit anxious. Being the professionals they are they were constantly working hard and going way and beyond helping with anything needed. They were a true blessing to me. Thank you to Kira who I worked with in the catering division. You made the process painless. I'll be back for a meal when we come back to Knoxville to visit my son and now daughter-in-law!

My family and I are loving the uptown corner! We had a great food experience but it was SO HOT. They need to fix their AC soon! It's hot outside and sweltering inside! I'm sure my family will return when they have fixed their air conditioning.

Disappointed that me and my wife ordered brisket plate for $18.00 each and you get two slices of brisket that barely weighs an ounce. We will not be back for that reason. I feel thats outrageously priced to to thin pieces The food is good and service is great but pricey

Went to grab a couple plates to go and was told they weren't doing to go orders and I would have to sit down to eat. I don't understand why they can't toss the same food I would eat sitting down, into a box for me to take home. Made no sense and there is no posting indicating that they don't allow to go orders past a certain time anywhere. Will not go back.

I had not been to Sweet P's since it was way out in South Knoxville and absolutely loved that location, so I thought I would try the Fountain City location since the reopen...I was not impressed in the least. I will start off with the positive. The hostess was super friendly and the bar staff, where I made my to go order were really nice. They had a decent selection of beers, so I had a couple while waiting on my to go order. The atmosphere seemed pleasant enough, but it was quite loud, not just in the bar area where that is expected but throughout the restaurant and it wasn't even full. The food was REALLY disappointing. As I said, it was a take out and before ordering the sampler platter I asked if it would feed two and was assured that it was plenty for two. I upgraded the ribs to a half rack and just to be safe we ordered another chicken platter as well. Upon getting the food back home it, the sampler platter, was enough to feed one and two of the three sides were wrong and the extra piece of bread that I had to pay for wasn't there. The quality of the food was WAY below par. The Barbecue was decent at best. The ribs were tough. The brisket had more fat than meat on it. The potato salad was SO bland. The macaroni and cheese was WAY over cooked with no taste. The pinto beans were chewy...yes chewy. I was SUPPOSED to have got Cole Slaw, but was given green beans instead...which I didn't eat. The greens and "things" were absolutely vile, as if ANY of the ingredients weren't cooked properly. I think that when you pay over $30 a person that the food should be cooked correctly, that you should get what you ordered and that you shouldn't be hungry after you have finished eating. I have to say "skip" this place, save your money and go to Buddy's BBQ or some place other than here.

I really like the downtown location so I was super excited to see them open a location right by my office. I must admit that I was really disappointed when I stopped in there for dinner... The service was absolutely horrible - it was super disorganized and took forever to get a waitress to stop by after I was seated. I don't know if it was just the new staff or poor management but I was disappointed to say the least. The food was ok - you could tell it had been sitting. I am a big fan of the downtown location and have eaten there a lot but here not so much.

This is a very good place to eat I definitely recommend everything I didn't really like the mac & cheese though it was bland but the customer service was great and I really love the design of the place it made it really unique and For how good the food tasted I'm ok with paying $70 plus tip!

Went here for lunch today, and was not disappointed. The environment was nice and the waitress friendly. She definitely was on top of refills and making sure we were taken care of. I tried the pulled chicken sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich, which my brother & I both really enjoyed. The Mac and cheese was also extremely good, probably one of my favorite restaurant mac & cheese to date. I recommend for a comfy bbq joint with a southern feel & will definitely be back to try the ribs!

Great restaurant, service was great and the food to, favorite so far is the meatloaf patty melt with the biscuits in gravy, BBQ sauce is good but would recommend bringing your own Hot Sauce, stuff they got is little mild

Great new spot for fountain city. The renovation is great. Bar area has many TVs for sports and all the great food to expect from Sweet P's. Can't ever go wrong with a pork sandwich and banana pudding.

My daughter wanted to go here for her birthday. We show up to open seats in the restaurant, but they would not seat us without a 30 minute wait. They clearly are not ran well by their manager. Sad for my daughter and won't be back again

First time dining here. We ordered the sampler so we could try all the BBQ meats. It was excellent. Great service too! Love the atmosphere in the bar area! Great addition to Fountain City!

This place was the best barbecue restaurant I've ever been to honestly, the food was phenomenal, and very reasonably priced. My boyfriend and I got the sampler plate to share and it was more than enough for both of us! It was only $28 and it came with a pulled pork or pulled chicken sandwich, whichever you choose, 2 big pieces of beef brisket, a half rack of ribs, and 3 sides. It was delicious, and also you can choose banana pudding as one of the sides if you choose to. I loved this idea because I got dessert included in the meal, so that's a win win for everybody for only $28 if you ask me!!! I definitely would recommend this place to anybody first for barbecue places in Knoxville! 10/10 from me!!!!

This is a really nice addition to Fountain City. The inside is cute and table turnover appears to be pretty quick. The food was good and came out fast. The menu is in many ways similar to downtown but with some welcome additions. Our waitress was very attentive and we didn't want for anything. I hope they do well!

The worst service ever. I ordered three orders of fried pickles and all three orders were placed in one container. When I asked the server if all three orders were in the same package she responded yes. She never offered to separate the order. I also ordered a Dr Pepper which I never received. I called and spoke to the manager who told me I would be credited my money back. Months later I still have not received the credit.

The best! Everything from their burritos to the BBQ Brisket Hash and Eggs brunch special is outstanding! Outstanding food and great atmosphere, desserts are amazing.

Disappointed in our meal. $60.00 for 2. Got the sausage and cheese appetizer. Came with commercial smoked cheddar, packaged captains wafers and sausage that was saturated with beer. Sampler platter split with pulled pork(it was ok) 2 slices of brisket (soaked in beer) and 3 ribs to dry to eat. Sides smashed potato salad(ok) Mac and cheese (good) and banana pudding (delicious). Service was great.

Clean and cute environment. The food and service was great. Highly recommend the fried pickles, Mac and cheese, banana pudding. Honestly all of the food is amazing. Love it here!
