Being vegan I usually have to travel to certain areas that have more vegan options but Sweet Retreat is just a seven minute walk from where I am. They have fantastic high quality vegan donuts that come in a variety of flavors. Hibiscus is my favorite. They also make vegan cakes. Early is better because they will sell out. There is a sitting area surrounded by lots of plants and the area nice and clean. Customer service is excellent and welcoming. They have specials on half a dozen and dozen boxes. There's coffee, tea and other food items. All reasonable. Sometimes there is a wait but worth it. They don't rush any orders. I highly recommend.

Everything was so nice!! The owners were wonderful. The vibe is very relaxing. Some very delicious donuts, but my tip would be to try the wings!! Cambodian dirt wings were crispy on the outside but very moist interior, very tangy lemon flavor like salt and vinegar chips!! We loved them! Also their fries are just incredible!! Cannot recommend enough. Very friendly family that owns the business. Make you feel like old friends as soon as you meet them. Thank you for your delicious food and hospitality!!

My kids' favorite donut shop. The people are nice and friendly. The donuts and drinks are good. If you have a request, they are willing to accommodate you right then and there. I went in one time and my daughter wanted strawberries and cream so they made a donut with cream filled strawberries for her. Sometimes, I come in a later later in the afternoon to get a Boston cream filled donut and they ran out. They would put cream in the long bar donuts! So nice of them and keeps my kids happy. They are now open on Mondays which is good news for my kids but bad for my wallet. They do have a pretty good selection of vegan donuts but I haven't tried time. I'm too busy snacking on the donut holes.

My first time here and I love it! I had no idea it was here but I’m so glad I know now! Amazing service!!! Thank you Srei (I hope I spelled that right) you made my first experience an amazing one! I’m sold! The coffee is so much better than Starbucks. I got the butterscotch with oat milk :)

Recently moved to LB and I've been here every weekend for the last month.. The vegan raised donuts (Fri-Sun only) are the best I've ever had! It's almost a bad thing.. but at least I've stopped trying to find something comparable in other parts of LA or Orange county, anywhere else is a disappointment now; these put the bougie place by my work in Irvine to shame. The service is fantastic, but don't be surprised if there's a line out the door in the morning; it moves quick though and definitely worth the short wait. I can't do dairy anymore so my options usually feel limited; I'm so SO happy to have something affordable that doesn't taste like a compromise. Thank you Sweet Retreat Donuts!!

Highly recommend this donut shop! They were extremely accommodating, kind and most importantly the donuts were delicious!! They created custom donuts for our gender reveal that were so yummy and cute! They have tons of options so make sure to look through pictures in reviews for ideas! Also.. they customized donuts for us based on flavor requests same day right in the shop! So impressed! We loved the lemon pistachio and bacon maple.

Sweet Retreat has, BY FAR, the best vegan blueberry apple fritter on the planet! Don't sleep on this one....it's only available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays...and they sell out fast! Oh, and forgot to mention... I'm not even vegan...

Before I picked up my good sis, had to find a nearby donut shop by her place and this spot popped up. Super cute inside. Loved their wall of art. The sweet lady behind the counter was nice and she was just putting out some fresh donuts. Inside is small but not packed. She was just finishing up with a customer before me. I got the dozen box. After our morning walk I couldn't wait to try the red velvet glaze donut, so good!! I definitely saved this spot anytime I'm in the area. Happy yelping!

Love this place. They have regular donuts and vegan donuts. They have some great special donuts as well. It's always my go to when I'm in Long Beach! If you haven't went you should!

Sweet Retreat Donuts is a Long Beach gem. My husband and I mainly came here for the vegan donut selection and we were not disappointed. So many options to choose from! We shared the vegan tiger tail, vegan chocolate raised donut, and 6 donut holes. Often times vegan alternatives don't have the same taste and texture as the original, but we didn't notice any difference as we unapologetically scarfed them down. The vegan tiger tail was our absolute favorite - a glazed twisted donut with a chocolate and cinnamon swirl. The chocolate raised donut was simply perfect. As far as the vegan donut holes go - I could eat 1 million of those and still be craving them. We also thoroughly enjoyed our iced Vietnamese coffee and iced mocha. The service was great and quick and the interior seating was cute and cozy for a little morning date. I am from out of town but I will purposefully put myself in the Long Beach area to be able to enjoy THE BEST vegan donuts again!

Everyone is so nice and donuts are delicious. Unique flavors like Hibiscus and Passion Fruit were bomb! The blueberry and apple fritter were also delicious.

Just left the ladies working we're really nice. Donut was soft and fresh and the business was clean and nicely decorated.

Awesome donuts! I'm not vegan, but if you are they have a great vegan selection. I ended up going with the Halloween ones. I got the coco one which was pistachio glazed and a red velvet cake ghost one. The person that helped me at the counter was extremely friendly and helpful! I'd definitely come back again. The decor was really cute, the place was really clean and they have little areas for you to sit and eat your donuts if you don't want to take them to go

The donuts were DELICIOUS ! I saw this donut shop on Yelp. I was craving a vegan donut ! I brought some for myself and my coworkers ! EVERYONE thought they were EXTRAORDINARY !! The passion fruit and fruit medley donuts are the ones I tried. The donuts have a balanced donut to frosting ratio and not too sweet. The cashier was very kind and her service was EXCELLENT. I loved the music in the background. It added to the ambiance. I'm DEFINITELY going back !!

Such great service. The lady acknowledged me and was so friendly. I ordered the flaming hot Cheeto donut. It was surprisingly delicious I even had to share it with my friend so she can experience the flavors. She was also so surprised and had to tell her friends. It's a nice place to drink and eat and relax.

I would say prices are good, environment is a vibe and definitely great service, the Pretty Woman that attended us was very informative and super nice, loved her

Cute, cute, cute. Quaint sized, or should I say bite sized, yes, but the floor plan really makes the most of its size. The food smells great, tastes great. Alternative milk options are available, which is great. Service was good. Polite, quick, nice, et all. This spot has actually been on my To-Try List for a few years, due to its early opening time, but I actually only got to stop by because I was originally picking up something for my brother. Glad I did and finally got to confirm it's good.

Best vegan donuts in Long Beach! (and regular donuts too) the vegan tiger tails or the lemon pistachio are irresistible. Cute little shop with very friendly and helpful staff. Such a neighborhood gem!

While there weren't any cake donuts left, still several vegan options. Best vegan donut holes I've had. Not too dense and perfectly glazed. Parking a little because there are several businesses there. Went around noon so will have to try earlier next time.

We came to try their vegan donuts and they were the best vegan donuts we've had anywhere! Not only that but so many places overprice the vegan donuts so much it makes it hard to buy many at a time and here the prices are actually good. Amazing. We tried a lot but my favorites were the cinnamon roll donut and the tiger tail. Their donut holes were really good too. We also tried some drinks and got a strawberry mango blended with chamoy and some strawberry bits as well as a hibiscus tea with strawberry and chia seeds. The drinks were really really good and the worker was super helpful in deciding what to get and the options on drinks are almost unlimited. They're really willing to make any combination of things you want and there are a lot of vegan options even for the Vietnamese coffee with condensed "milk". The interior is cute and has lots of seating and and a friendly fun atmosphere. Parking was super easy. This place is so great will definitely be coming back! They will sell out of vegan stuff pretty early so make sure to get there early or order ahead.

YUMMY!!!! First time coming here and it's super cute inside, you wouldn't expect it from looking on the outside. They have a wide variety of selections for donuts and drinks like coffee, teas, smoothies & milk teas, I didn't know how to decide We chose to get a half dozen based off what looked most appetizing in the glass. We chose a taro milk tea to pair and ordered a ham and cheese for something savory. The drinks are made to order and while we were waiting, we decided to sit down and try a bite of every donut we got with our little ones. Everything was so tasty! The donuts have a perfect texture. We got all raised donuts and they were nice and chewy. The toppings and glazes were a nice texture. We were so busy tasting our donuts we walked out the door and realized we forgot our ham and cheese haha (that's why it's not pictured in the photo) Definitely don't skip on the ham and cheese! My kids and I basically inhaled it once we got into the car. The croissant was crispy, flaky, chewy and the inside was warm and gooey! The staff was really sweet. We will definitely be back. This was a great way to start our morning.

What a gem hidden in Long Beach! Plenty of choices and there are even some vegan donuts too! I've visited a number of times and have purchased vegan donuts for a few people. Nobody was able to tell they were vegan and were praising how delicious the donuts & frosting were! My absolute favorite here are their old fashioneds - crispy outside and fluffy on the inside. The only bummer is 3 out of 5 times I visit, they don't have any for sale! :( Also can't skip out on their ham & cheese croissaints! Flakey croissant on the outside, gooey cheese and some deli meat in the middle. It's so simple, but such a great reminder of the simpler times in my childhood. Definitely worth a shot to visit and grab a variety of their donuts to try. All the employees there are super nice and patient, so if you don't know what you want, just ask for suggestions! =)

I waited to come on a Friday specifically to try the vegan raised donut. I'm a purist and believe in a simple donut to really prove the best of the best. Bought one glazed and one cinnamon sugar vegan raised (yeast) donut and paid $4.50. Some of the Yelp pics are old bc they are $2.25 each now for the simple ones. Non-vegan are like $1.25. Decent, not the best I've ever had. The parking lot was super tricky to get out of, but that was just bad timing.

If you are someone who loves donuts, smoothies, milk tea, & boba but everywhere you go isn't that good then this is the place for you. This was my second time coming with my best friend and we love it. The employees are very nice and patient, the prices are affordable, the inside is very aesthetic, and overall the whole donut shop has a great vibe. I had the cereal donut and milk tea which was really good. The milk tea actually tasted like honeydew. Some places I go to and get milk tea all I could really taste is just mainly milk but not this one and the donut had just the right amount of sweetness...10/10. My best friend and I shared the Oreo one, it was a little to chocolatey for us but other than that it was okay. And they do have Vegan Donuts!! Stop by whenever your in the Long Beach area looking for something sweet.

The owner is always so sweet, and the staff are super friendly! They have BOMB Vietnamese Iced coffee, yummy specialty donuts, and special sandwiches. Super affordable. Great to being for a staff meeting or to cheer someone up.

Nice little shop in Long Beach. I had a crew working the weekend so I popped in for a dozen. They were all very tasty and reasonably priced. There is a pretty good selection of vegan donuts that look like regular donuts (though I did not get any), so if you are vegan, or inclined that way, here is an option for you.

I go out of my way to go here for their tai tea. The donuts are delicious too. I go for the plain donuts but my kids like their creative assortments.

I've been going to this donut shop for several years. This place has seen me through two significant relationships, some friendships and many life milestones. Despite a few people having come and gone from my life, these donuts have stood the test of time. The taste, quality and texture are bar none. I've tried many of the flavors, but our faves are the Taro and Blueberry. Amazingly, their donuts do not get stale as quickly as those from other places. I have tried these on Day 3 and they still taste delicious and fresh! For a theme birthday party a few years ago, I ordered custom-made golden glaze donuts. They not only looked spectacular, they were so yummy! The owners are very friendly. Please support this small business. Their products and service are top notch.

Best vegan donuts hands down in Long Beach. I love a good fancy donut but sometimes you just need a classic. They had a vegan bear claw, cinnamon roll, donut holes, raised and cake donuts. The place is family owned and run, they are always friendly and welcoming. The only downside is that the vegan donuts cost more that the regular ones. This is commonplace but unfortunate since the ingredients are no more expensive. Also, the vegan donuts are only available on the weekends? Fri to Sunday I think for the raised ones. I called one day mid week and they said they only had the vegan cake donuts. It would be great to have the vegan options all week. I would highly recommend this place none the less. The donuts are perfectly fluffy and the variety is great.

Best donuts in LB, hands down! The cake donuts are super fresh and not too dense, perfect consistency. All the flavors are amazing but the blueberry crumb is a must get whenever I go. The lemon frosted blueberry donut with fresh berries is another favorite. I also love seeing which donuts they will have iced with a variety of seasonal, fruity flavors- I've had passion fruit, taro, guava and more over the many times I've visited. Plenty of other varieties to chose from as well as vegan options. They have a small parking lot or depending on time of day, I sometimes just park on MLK alongside poly high and walk around to avoid the lot. The service is always quick and friendly. Prices are super fair for what they offer and overall cheaper than most donut shops that offer similar styles and varieties. Cute small shop with a few inside tables and a mural painted on the wall. Always one of my recommendations for anyone asking for sweets in LB!

Vegan donuts!!! So good!!! So great that they have vegan cake donuts everyday and raised every Friday-Sunday! They're made so well and feel gourmet :) The cake donuts are nice and soft and not dry at all! I live for yeasted donuts and their yeasted donuts are delicious!! Not too dense! I was recommended this place by a friend, and I love small business donut shops. It's a childhood treat that resonates with me since my family grew up owning a shop, so eating a fresh handmade donut is something I can just pick up on. Initially I came for the Vietnamese Ice Coffee, but after trying some of their other items I'm glad that I did come here. The Vietnamese iced is one of the best I've had, good balance of sweetness to help complement the dark nutty profiles from the coffee. The coffee itself is made perfectly, it's smooth, rich, and has been bloomed properly. I've been coming here for months and I've never had the acidic aftertaste from typical coffees. It's an amazing balance of creamy and nutty. The donuts are great as well, and I'm typically reluctant on vegan variants of any sort of food but I'm always willing to try it. I can honestly say that the vegan donuts are a nice bite, although it doesn't have that distinct elasticity that eggs give for pastries, it still maintains the overall integrity of a donut. To a normal person, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference but it doesn't change that they're tasty. Consistency has been never been an issue and I'm happy that it's a local shop down the street. The ambience is also quite friendly, although the inside is small they have a lot of decorations and designs that spruces up the aesthetic. It's a place that feels welcoming when I come in, and I hope that many others can try this place out.

Anyone listen to Sporkful podcast? Well, this woman does. She also saves a recommendations like this doughnut shop on Yelp after listening to an episode on the history of doughnuts in America over a year ago. I arrive around 2 pm on Friday. There aren't many options left. The only cake options are blueberry filling. Everything else is cake and if you're a true doughnut connoisseur, you know which one is legit. I'm not vegan, but do eat vegan doughnuts. Since there were more vegan yeast options, I went that route and choose the hibiscus. The icing was flavorful with a hint of tartness. Delicious. They have daily drink specials. Friday is milk tea. I opted for it with boba, which needed a few more minutes as it was a bit too hard. It's made with fresh tea, so the ice does help in cooling it down.

Had a great experience at this donut shop on a Saturday morning. Tried the regular glazed donut, a bit on the sweeter side but super fresh and fluffy. Also tried the banana cake donut, also sweet but probably the best cake donut consiI've ever had. Did not try the vegan donuts this trip but they looked great. Also tried the sea salt iced coffee which was tasty, but for $5.25 would probably just get donuts here. Really cute and comfortable shop, will return. Also the parking was easy, small lot but spots were open. Friendly service, offered to help with any questions.

Delectable donuts, a pleasant employee, and a cute little storefront tucked in a super tiny plaza. I just wish the employee would've mentioned the discount on purchasing 6 donuts (I purchased 4 and don't know if it's seasonal) before I checked out -- I definitely would've purchased more. Sweet Retreat Donuts went above and beyond in creating one of a kind personalized donuts for a sweet 16th birthday who is a fan of A New Hope. I gave Srey artist freedom and the results made us so happy! She did the coolest-cutest way to spell AVI The photos do no justice to the art! Leia's buns were chocolates! Cheweee was maple flavored and the cutest droid was glittered!! Amazed with the creativity and thoughtfulness and time put into these! Thank you again for making Avi's 16th so special Srey.

This is the best small business ran donut shop in Los Angeles. The love and detail that goes into each donut is felt with each sweet and pillowy bite. They have unique flavors, like their passion fruit donut (my absolute favorite) hibiscus, golden rose, hot Cheetos cream cheese glaze... just to name a few as well as their classic donuts like a maple bar. Besides their amazing flavors, another thing that separates them from all the other donut shops are their vegan donuts! They're perfect for when I go through my vegan phases (and for vegans of course!). They also make really delicious croissants with cheese and ham or jalapeño, cheese, and ham that are perfect for breakfast. I've tried many of their drinks, and they've all been delicious. One of my favorites is the taro milk tea with boba. The owners are also very sweet and humble people who I always enjoy talking to. I like to think of them as, "The Bob's Burger" of donut shops if you're familiar with that show, because of the amount of love, passion, thought, and detail that goes into the creation of each flavor. Sweet Retreat is a must try!

Sweet Retreat is the one thing that makes doing my laundry less of a chore. I prefer their ham & cheese croissants over every other donut shop's in Long Beach. But like others that go here, it's also one of those business that make me scratch my head. I never know when they will actually be open! Seldom have they opened on time when laundry day came. They could literally change their business hours to "whenever the **** we want" and I'm sure there will always be a small crowd waiting anxiously at the door every morning for them to open. I'm also stunned to learn from other reviewers that there is a bigger selection throughout the day-just that they're really late at making them. I only come at opening since I do laundry early to beat the crowd. I just assumed they prefer not to sell much. Hopefully they can someday open at posted business hours and have their true inventory available too. Or update the signage to, "whenever the **** we want." Lol At least it'd be honest then.

Ok so, I am super late with this review. I have been visiting Sweet Retreat for about a year now. The customer service is outstanding. Everyone who works here is super kind, friendly, and helpful. The donuts ohhhhhhh the donuts OMG, should I even tell everyone on Yelp how amazing these donuts are? or keep it to myself ? I don't want them to run out of donuts when I get there late. Let me tell you something, these are indeed some of the best donuts in LB. Not only are they tasty, they are meticulously decorated. My favorite is the berry donut which has a hint of refreshing lemon in the icing. I always go for 2 donuts and end up leaving with 6. In addition to regular donuts, they have a variety of mouth-watering vegan donuts. I love having this option. There is ample parking in the parking lot. Thank you Sweet Retreat!

I bought a few dozen regular donuts (glazed and cake) and four vegan donuts (glazed and cake). They were all so fresh and fluffy and smelled amazing. According to everyone they were all wonderful. Everyone loved them and said they were one of the best donuts that they had ever had. The lady that helped me at the store was very friendly and helpful. This will now be my go-to for donuts in Long Beach. I would definitely recommend this shop.

I was looking for treats for my sister who's vegan and I'm so glad I found this place because they have such a great variety of donuts vegan and regular! Not to mention that the vegan donuts are so delicious even if you aren't vegan! My favorite was the passion fruit, I never knew a donut could have that fresh fruity flavor, yum. But ill definitely be back for more because they have alot more options!

Amazing donuts! We are not vegan and we love love their vegan donuts. We get them regularly. Also, I buy them for my clients as a treat and they agree on how delicious they are. Super fresh! And the service is always very nice and friendly. A Long Beach favorite!
