My nephews are gaining confidence and skills in their classes, thanks to the exceptional trainers and coaches who are second to none. A cut above the rest. I just attended the women’s self-defense class and man, did it feel empowering from the very start. This experience was grounding, and genuinely impactful. Coach Efrain was so knowledgeable, intentional, and clearly deeply passionate about what he does. You can feel that this wasn’t just instruction, but purpose. Every moment felt thoughtful and empowering, and it was clear how much care goes into creating a space and a class where women feel strong and capable. This gym is truly a cut above the rest. It feels less like a business and more like a calling — built on passion, purpose, and community. I’m so grateful I found it, and I can’t wait to go back.

I’ve been training with coach Vaughn for a little over a year and he has taught me well and a lot. Everyone in this gym is super friendly. If you are thinking about joining this gym I recommend you to do so.

My 15 year old son recently joined the gym. He is improving rapidly and he thinks the staff at the gym are very knowledgeable and have been teaching and pushing him to do more. Great vibe in the gym.

What went well, you ask? Just about everything so far. I boxed a little as a teenager and wanted to get back to it. So in 2018 I popped in one morning and have been coming ever since. Whether you want to get fit, fight competitively or just learn something new, you can get all that here and more. It's a real boxing gym so you're training alongside pros and amateurs. The gym has great hours so if you're an early riser Coach Juan will greet you as early as 5am! And if I'm not mistaken they have classes into the evening as late as 7p. I've learned things from all of the great coaches here working with all of them over the years. Currently I'm working with Coach Bryan, a professional with an undefeated record! They have great kids classes too which my son has participated in and enjoyed! It's affordable, and they adjusted my membership to fit with my schedule. They have two rings, plenty of bags, and a freeweight area. Oh and also a large MMA room. I most enjoy the camaraderie, respect and equality amongst everyone there. Boxing is an international sport and that is evident here as I've met people from all over the world here. I've made new friends working out with and sharing the ring with. We have FUN! So come on down and learn the sweet science.

My son just joined 3 weeks ago. He is 15 and is enjoying it very much. He says trainers are good and workout environment is excellent. We look forward to seeing improvement.

I've been comm g to this gym for over a year and a half now. It's been transformational for my body and mind. The owners are there all the time knowing each member personally. The coaches are also top notch raising champs of all ages.

Sweet Science is a incredible boxing gym. They have excellent coaches (real boxing coaches who know their stuff), they train all kinds of people, including kids, amateur competitors, and pro fighters, and they have a women's boxing class. It's fun to train there and watch people with a high skill level and work ethic. At the same time, it's not an intimidating space -- it's more of a community. The gym is clean and all the coaches, staff, and other people training at Sweet Science are respectful and nice to be around. There is also free parking in the front and in the back of the gym.

Beautiful Gym but the owner Marco was a total Jerk so I didn't sign up my kids. Maybe he was having a bad day but he needs to calm down with that BS for sure. Lots of Boxing gyms around and cheaper ones with really good trainers, don't believe the hype & go somewhere that isn't run by an owner like this guy.

You want to be part of this world! One of Hawthorne's hidden gems with, fun, knowledgeable and friendly staff that stays up to date with the boxing world. My kids and I love all the classes and instructors here. 10year daughter takes jujitsu and my 12 year old is in boxing after school before soccer practice. They are both much stronger and motivated after joining here.

Love this gym I trained here when I was younger back in 2013-2014 , stopped because I became a dad now that my son is older he trains at this gym and so does my little brother who's 18 . We all have had nothing but good experiences love the coaches all cool people . Also shout out to Marcos the owner who hooked me and my son up with some Boxing fight tickets in Carson . I trained in this gym for over a year around 2019 and 2020 and stop going because of the pandemic. I'm to old now but had great experience. Now it's about time to take my kids . Coach chopas de best

Excellent Boxing Gym! We joined up about a year ago and my 13 year old son just loves it! He has grown alot since beginning! Coaches & Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere in the facility is excellent! Gym is well organized and clean! Hours are excellent!! We are very happy to have found this spot! Old school style Boxing gym!!

Was looking to find a place to box and get back in shape. Found this place via Yelp and it was about 2 miles from my place. The staff instantly made me feel comfortable. The classes are offered at times which it make it convenient for my schedule. The trainers run excellent classes and after you leave you feel the workout. Look forward to coming to more classes.

The free Saturday classes at 9am for one hour is fun and a hell of a work out. Instructor knows his boxing technique. If you want to come and get a good sweat then this is your place.

When I found this place, I had zero interest in boxing. Since I'm a petite female Asian, I was really looking for a martial arts class but couldn't find anything that suited my schedule or location. Then I started looking for an MMA class and found this place, only to find out they only do boxing. But I don't care about that anymore, this place is awesome! I picked this place because it's the only fighting style workout place that has a class at 5PM, I'm usually the only adult there with 15+ kids, but it's convenient for me and I still get a hell of a work out. I started out trying through Groupon, and when checking in the first day I was able to buy gloves and hand wraps. The class warms up with jump rope followed by boxing stance exercise. Then we either work on the bags, and take turns hitting boxing mitts with coach Juan and or coach Marco or do boxing drills. Then ends with usual workout stuff, burpees, sit-ups and push-ups. And I my ignorant self was worried I wouldn't really get a lower body workout at a boxing gym, but my sore quads and calves proved me wrong. If you have any interest, or even no interest in boxing but want a good hour workout I highly recommend this place. The coaches are tough but encouraging, the workouts are difficult but entertaining. I haven't looked forward to working out since I was playing sports in high school 10+ years ago. Plus, I lost weight by just going 2 times a week, without changing my crappy diet. But I enjoy working out here so much I'm trying to get to the gym more often. I was looking for an activity that I would enjoy and get in shape while doing it and I found it here! Check it out!! TLDR: It doesn't matter if you're into boxing, if you need a good workout and want to hit things, give this place a shot!! Great for all ages, male or female.

I absolutely love this place !!! It's a real boxing gym ! I seen some posts about not getting a call back but .. this is an old school gym . You want to talk to someone go in there, and you won't regret it. The trainers have so much knowledge on techniques and these new cardio boxing classes are making me sweat my ass off !! This is a really great gym highly recommend the boxing class gets you a great work out the brand new jit jitsu classes are the best my instructor Luis is the best!!!!!!! You should come try it out!!!! For the GI there is a SALEEEE!!!!!!! And the gloves are on SALEEE too!!!!!!!! The people at the gym are my family and they will become your family too!!!!!!! Come by and you will enjoy it!!!!!!!

I take my 2 boys (10 & 12) to train on Saturday mornings. It has a great atmosphere and is operated by the nicest family. The daily rate is reasonable, and the coach is helpful and generous with his time. They also sell boxing gloves, hand wraps, shoes, and t-shirts, which is great when you forget (or lose) your stuff. I highly recommend, it's like Mickey's Gym in Rocky!

My cousin brought me into Sweet Science for a Saturday morning workout. I have 0 boxing experience and was only doing the workout to get a good sweat in. Oh boy did I sweat! Haha it was an incredible workout and the staff was super nice and helpful! I highly recommend checking out Sweet Science if you want to get a good workout and learn about boxing.

What I like: Instructor Sitting area while waiting The way the instructor conducts the classes Plenty of parking What I don't like: There's no sanitizer There's no AC ( it gets hot in there) It doesn't look like anyone cares to dust/sanitize the place or the equipment Pricing- a little on the expensive side

This review is based on MY personal experience when my son & I were clients here in 2014. Original date posted 1/21/15: You will definently get a workout here, but there were some days of inconsistency and that's not what I signed up for. There were days when the Coach Darnell, was late or didn't show up, so there would be someone to fill in. The training wouldn't be the same and some of the kids were being 'kids' so they were out-of-control and not following instructions. That's not what I signed my son and I up for. Then when trying to talk to Coach Darnell about it he was let's say, 'not pleasant to talk to'. So I recommend you do your research before deciding to sign up here. Look for something more stable and professional.

Woman boxing class Friday's 6am. Great time. Meeting cool people. Great workout. Learning a lot. Great environment. Must bring plenty of water with you. I know I do.

Great gym for real boxing. They also have Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu. Solid equipment and trainers are legit.

Started with the Saturday 9am free boxing boot camp class and it was the best experience. Coaches were very helpful and knowledgeable during the boot camp session. I have started doing one on one personal training sessions with Coach Juan, he is great and very patient during each session. I would highly recommend Sweet Science Boxing if you are interested in learning boxing techniques.

I tried the cardio kickboxing class with coach Nikki who kicked my butt in a good way. I was lucky enough to have the 1:1 session with her for the class. I left the class feeling good about myself. I am trying to get back into working out and knowing some self defense moves so this class is totally worth it. The workout is great and would recommend this place along with coach NikkI!

With all the gyms popped up it's nice to find a real boxing gym- solid instructors - perfect for anyone looking to compete or to just learn proper boxing in the classes for a kickass workout. All kinds of toys :) speed bags, slip bags, uppercut bags, double end bags, all size punching bags, a ring and plenty of sparring if you're looking for it. Love this place.

This Gym is beautiful and the instructors are The nicest. They keep the spaces Clean and the structure of the classes are good for professionals and beginners.

I'm 35yo, and I have never boxed before. I came to this gym upon a friend's recommendation. It was fun and challenging. Fair pricing. Very welcoming. I got a great workout and learned a lot of technique. I will be attending on a regular basis in the future. Coach PJ had me sucking wind the whole time. Great energy in the place. I walked out feeling like a man.

Love this place. My fiancé and I never boxed a day in our lives but we decided to try it out through the ClassPass app. We both loved it and Von was really helpful, attentive, patient, and understanding. This beats going to an open gym since you work out every part of your body.

I had my 3 kids here for a while.. I need to update my review on how things fell off with coach Marco based on my experience.. All I can say is that I'm so disappointed with him and how things end, I will not talk bad about him like he did about us to the gym and to ppl there.. The kids class is great I have no complaints with that.. I do recommend the kids class to parents who want to get there kids fit, teach them self defense and confidence..

It's been two weeks since I called to try to get more info. Especially for the Saturday class, after that it would've determined if I stayed or not. Which would've been most likely since I love boxing. It's ridiculous that these people don't answer their phones or emails. 2 weeks?! Really? How are y'all in business? I would NOT recommend going here. But hey, you probably have better luck than I do.

I searched all LA for a good boxing gym for several months, I was looking for an affordable gym where I could come in at later times that came with a good atmosphere. Went to many of them, most closed too early for my schedule, some were too expensive, some just had too many egos roaming around. after all the search I did, I believe that I found what I was looking for here at Sweet Science!. Their prices are very reasonable, especially for what they offer compared to others. They offer several classes at no extra charge. They keep the students engaged with special monthly challenges and with special boxing events. Their hours are insane! a Boxing gym that closes after 12:00pm on Saturday is unheard of!. At Sweet Science, they pretty much close until u get your workout fix!. Last weekend I left the gym at almost 5pm on a Sat!. I've been going there for six months and so far I don't have any complaints. I have lost a lot of weight and gained a lot of energy! All in all - Give it a try, stay committed and you will see results!! Pros: Lots of parking on back, Great Boxing and MMA classes for beginners and advanced students, No initiation fees just a flat monthly rate. Great coaches committed to helping students reach their goals(I'm not kidding when I say that they sometimes go beyond to help you). Cons: its a bit small but it's never been an excuse for me not to get my work out.

Sweet Science is the absolute best place to learn how to box. Coach Juan shows patience, and always preaches the basics. Everyday I spend there is a challenge physically, but also fun. I look forward to every training session I have at Sweet Science. I highly recommend them as a business and gym!

It's been three months since my son started at this gym, and I have to say that it was a great decision we took, Marco and juan are a greg teaching and leading the kids to become better my son loves it here and that's what it really matters for me that he doesn't feel intimidated, this is our boxing gym now on, I strongly recommend patentes to bring their kids here an plus there are alway good deal on prices and plus first class is free!

I really enjoy this place. I am a beginner and I've made quick progress because of the help of the staff. Everyone is very motivating and supportive. Just signed up with my 14 yr old son this place is straight forward no hidden fees the prices are posted on the wall. Unlike there competitors across the street they didn't want to talk price until we went in for a class. They really work you out if you are looking to train defiantly check this place out!

I've been coming here for two years. It's an old school boxing gym so if you are serious about training, this is the place to go. The workouts are tough so it's also good if you're just trying to get in shape. All of the coaches have been great and give different techniques so you can hone your skills. Marco is also great with setting up sparring with other gyms so you can get good experience sparring before setting up a fight. Definitely the best gym in the area.

I've been to my share of boxing gyms all across LA and have never been to one like this. From the moment I walked through the door and pleasantly greeted and made to feel very comfortable. The coaches and fighters treat you like family and welcome you with open arms. A lot of gyms will say they are a family but are divided amongst themselves between the coaches mainly. At sweet science everyone works as a team to make each other better. The work outs all have their unique styles based on the coaches. Whether you were looking to get into shape or become a world champion, they will push you passed what you thought your limits were to achieve your goals. All around the best boxing gym in LA.

This place is the worst of any and all gyms in existence. I've experienced lemonade stands that were run more professionally. The manager, Marco is not fit to cut your grass, let alone run this dive. Zero stars.

I came to the boxing gym not to work out but to buy sweet science boxing apparel. I bought a hooded sweater from Marco, who is a trainer and owner. I must say he is a very nice guy. In conversation with him, it was clear to me why this gym is so successful and are able to bring in talented fighters. You can tell Marco has a passion for the sport and clearly cares about his fighters and his gym. Back to talking about the reason I came to gym, which was to buy a sweater. Check out their apparel online, they got nice looking stuff.
