Sweet Southern

Several weeks ago went to the Cobb County Fair. I was warm day so when we left we wanted ice cream so we went to Sweet Southern for the first time. No one was in shop when we first we in . My son and I ordered ice cream while my wife wanted a flavor they were out of and she wanted no other flavor. Staff was professional.

I honestly wanted to like it… yet the Thai tea was powdered. The pearl tapioca was hardened! The atmosphere was nice and quite in the inside yet behind the counter it was a little messy and dirty for one’s safety concerns! A great little sweets shop in Powder Springs/ Marietta, just needs some tidying up! Also the service was easy just not as enthusiastic as a sweet shop should be! A little more energy.

This is a great small intown restaurant with a calm relaxed atmosphere. I got the Coconut Milk and enjoyed taking great pictures on their back patio with their beautiful back drop. I really like this place. Come enjoy bring your friends and family 😍

So, how about a Hong Kong Waffle Sundae in Douglasville, Georgia? Why not?! I was so surprised to see such a spacious ice cream establishment in this part of Georgia while visiting a friend. This is a great place to go to for some ice cream, chat with friends, and play some games that they have in their space. Their service is friendly and patient with helping you decide what you should get. It may take a little bit of time to get one of their more exquisite treats such as the Hong Kong Sundae, but will be worth your time! The Hong Kong Sundae comes with two scoops of ice cream of your choice, a whole brownie or cheesecake, and three toppings of your choice all on top of a 'bubble waffle' that will keep you on a sugar high for days! Definitely great to share with another person for sure! It's a little bit far from Atlanta (~30 minutes), but if you do venture out here I recommend hitting up Gumbeaux's Cajun Cafe for some of the best Cajun cooking I have ever had and then come over here for a sweet ending.

Outstanding service and selection. You can concoct almost anything you want from a sundae perspective (with cheesecake, with brownies, with cookies, with toppings, with different flavors of ice cream). We had DESSERT FOR LUNCH and it was awesome.

By far the best ice cream place we have ever been to. The family atmosphere is welcoming and the outside patio is super nice. Love how it's right next to the park as well.

The Oreo brown sugar tea was tasty, my companion and I both agreed! Jazzy provided excellent service for us! I can't wait to return.

Today was our first visit, but it definitely won't be the last! The man behind the counter was super helpful and friendly, the prices are good, the location is clean and open, and the ice cream is so yummy!! They even have fun and games for the kids (when we were there we had no wait, but it would be great for entertaining kids during busy times)! All in all, I have no complaints & I plan to come back soon!

I came here with my nephews on a weekday afternoon. It was crowded and we were served right away. We were able to taste a few flavors then we played the games in the shop. Parking is free and located conveniently behind the shop. And there is indoor seating plus plenty of outdoor seating. It was a very nice visit and I will definitely return. I recommend it.

Bae and I both truly enjoyed ourselves while we were there and I got a chance to meet Kenny, who is actually the owner. Bae got the Vegan Cookies & Creme Ice Cream and I got the make your own boba tea. I chose Matcha, Vanilla Ice Cream and Tapioca Pearls boba tea. Sweet Southerns have a wide variety of ice cream, cupcakes, cakes, coffee and teas. It's a one stop shop cafe.

Cute little establishment. Actually wandered in thinking it was a side entrance to Nibbles. Not sure if the gentleman I met was the owner - lol - but he was very friendly. They have Mayfield Dairy ice cream - which oddly enough - I've never actually had (aside from their ice cream sandwiches). I'm not sure (I was still a bit foggy because this is the time of day I'm typically asleep), but I think he asked me if I wanted to sample any of the ice cream flavors. The appear to have lots of dessert coffees. They also sell cake, cupcakes, muffins, milkshakes and boba tea. They only had pumpkin spice and blueberry muffins - and they were out of cupcakes for J, so I got a huge slice of traditional pound cake. I took one bite so far and it was very good. Dense with a firm, crumbly exterior. A little sweeter than I expected. (Update - I cut the cake into cubes - gave one cube to Gizmo for his birthday. After dinner, I dished up a huge bowl of vanilla ice cream, topped it with the pound cake cubes and drizzled with caramel brandy and plopped it down in front of J. It wasn't HIS birthday and now he keeps looking at me all side-eye because he can't figure out why he got a 'special, fancy dessert' last night. Lol. Ladies - I highly recommend doing this from time to time. Keeps 'em on their toes. Lol. Today, he went to the grocery store to refill my 5 gallon Glacier water bottles and came back with a lovely bouquet of flowers.) Business seems very kid-friendly. Back in the day I was always on the lookout for non-chain coffee spots because they're great for short client meetings when your office is home-based. I don't think this is a spot for quick meetings because the tables are few, small and spaced fairly close together - but I think it's a great spot for parents with young kids or quick take-away orders. They also have a small outdoor area.

Came hear a few times and while I will say it's not the fastest service, the ability to customize your order, the portion and friendliness of the service was exactly what brought me back each time. Another plus was that it was black owned, had a fun and friendly environment (games for my nephews any time we stopped by), and just a general great atmosphere that was perfect during those hot summer months... Thanks to COVID, my family and I hadn't stopped by much this year compared to last year. Then I drove by the location recently and noticed that it looked empty, so I called the store and spoke to the owner a few days later and learned that they had to shut down due to COVID-19 and have relocated to Powder Springs. So now yet another business gone from downtown Douglasville. PS isn't known to keep businesses long either though, so let's hope that they miss Douglasville so much that they decide to come back lol Kidding (kinda). Good luck to the owners, they'll definitely be missed.

My daughter and I randomly stopped by on a Monday morning. I ordered the white chocolate macchiato and my daughter ordered the caramel latte. You can tell that the owner genuinely takes pride in his coffee. It was delicious. My daughter ordered a piece of caramel cake to go and ate it in the car and said it was the best piece of cake she had ever had. The vibe is also really chill and laid back. We didn't order ice cream but the variety was amazing. It's the ideal place to sit and do work or read a book. We will definitely be back.

Literally had the most amazing banana pudding and butter pecan ice cream here. Haven't stopped thinking about it since I had it and will be back all spring and summer to get more!!

The boba tea needs more work. Its sloppy at the top with the cream. It needs more bubble in it. I liked my time at the Sweer Southern but i also wanted to enjoy some boba tea. and the boba tea there was not the best. but it also wasnt the worst. The Sweet and Southern community was very amazing and i believe they are very nice people. Everything else is good. I will be coming back. But this is one thing that should be fixed. then this resturant will be the best.

I really enjoyed the bubble tea. I now don't have to drive 20 mins to get my boba craving!

We stopped in for ice cream while in downtown Douglasville. The location is in a wonderful, historic building and has unique artwork on the walls and great games for kids. Sweet Southern serves generous ports of delicious ice cream and have a wide variety of toppings so you can customize your perfect ice cream experience.

Such a cute little southern small town ice cream shop! We got a scoop (very generous portion!) and root beer float. Everything was fresh and delicious and very reasonably priced. Happy to support this great small business!

Stopped by after dinner at Gabe's on a date night. Wonderful gentleman running the company and we had a lovely conversation. I ordered the chocolate peanut butter cookie dough ice cream and it was delicious! I love seeing locally owned companies care about their community and their customers. Would recommend this place for both large groups and sweet date nights. Too cute with the cow decor.

Just moved to the area stubbled across this beauty waiting for dinner.. absolutely love the location very kid friendly the owner was super cool and I'll definitely pass Brusters and Cold Stone just to visit your place again!

Great place to stop for an ice cream or float ! Very nice place. Got the cookies n cream and my son got the strawberry , tasted great , will be back soon with family or friends!
