Sweet Spot

I would choose this ice cream shop over the others in the area. They have around 50 flavors (some are seasonal), and they make waffle cones daily. I asked where they get their ice cream and an employee told me that they make most of their flavors there, that's why they are creamier and specialty flavors. They also have taffy, jelly belly, and so many packaged candies. They have chocolates and truffles in a case. The staff were very friendly and very polite.

Only place I will eat ice cream! I wait all year to eat ice cream here! Huckleberry is the best! Can't wait until next year's visit! If you get the cup of chocolate covered strawberries watch it they will fly out of your cup if you try to pry them out!!! 🤣

Sweet Spot never disappoints! My husband and I came to Mackinaw City for our honeymoon and we went here, not kidding, every day… sometimes for breakfast lol! I would 1000/10 recommend! Plus the staff is super friendly!

Decent ice cream while in town. The staff didn’t know much about the flavors. I asked what was in a certain flavor… they pulled the tag and held it over the counter. Didn’t know what kind of nut was in a flavor. Tourist town ice cream shop.

Every time I go into an ice cream shop, I look for bubblegum ice cream. I can never find it. Until now!! They actually have it here, (among many other great flavors ) Which absolutely thrilled me! I’ve never seen so many flavors in one place. Everyone who works there is so kind and the ice cream is amazing!! If you’re in Mackinaw City, looking for something yummy, Choose them. They’re the best.

This is the SPOT… if you want the best creamy, tasty ice cream this is the spot. We went to another spot first but my daughter wanted mint and they didn’t have any so they sent me there. This is where they get their ice cream. And I. Am so happy to have had to go there I would walk again because I had the key lime pie and it was so delicious.. it was a hard choice because of all 76 flavors. My daughter was just saying I wish they would mix moose tracks with mint chip and. They had that she was one happy😊 young lady.. this is a must stop .. worth every penny and calorie 😆

The staff is very nice and accommodating, the store is very clean. They have 76 flavors of homemade ice cream - it’s almost too many! We got waffle cones with chocolate peanut butter and mackinaw peanut butter fudge. We got a single and double scoop, they were both generous sized. The ice cream was smooth and creamy with abundant amounts of peanut butter, chocolate and fudge in our flavor choices The two cones were a little over $13.00 which seemed reasonable when compared to the other ice cream prices. We would definitely get ice cream here again.

We went in to "town" to shop last Monday before we departed Tuesday morning. As the ladies finished up shopping they made comment of everyone walking by w ice cream.... then spied a sign that they gleefully read aloud "76 flavors!!" I opted for a cup of the delicious Ultimate Peanut Butter Brownie!! It came w a small waffle cone piece on top. The ice cream flavors are so unique that it's not too overwhelming. I didn't shop around but I'm pretty sure I was in candy heaven! I didn't peruse the taffy wall, just enough to see there were dozens of flavors for $11.99/pound. There are several candy/fudge stores almond this main artery that I didn't check out so I'm not sure how Sweet Spot stacks up, all I know is that the four of us left satisfied. Thanks Sweet Spot for the sweet treat!

Wow, just Wow! I have no idea how someone would give this place any thing less than 5 stars. Selection- off the charts, so many options of ice cream, cones or cups. Taste - explosion! There's people eating outside the door, don't let that hinder you. Go in! Oh then walk off all the calories!

My wife went in to get some Fudge, while the fam, German Shep (Mando) and I waited outside. (I didn't check to see if it was pet friendly, I just automatically believe a food-service place wouldn't appreciate a 90 pound dog blowing his coat in the store!) A very nice guy came out and asked a few questions about Mando and showed some affection. Then asked if he could get Mando some ice cream. (I showed him my wife and said she would need to answer as she's a vet tech.) Next thing I know, here comes this exceptional man with a med bowl of vanilla for my pooch. Free. (The Fudge my wife bought was also exceptional!)

The horrible service is a great distraction from how gross the fudge tastes. Highlights here include: being blatantly ignored for no less than five minutes while employees chat with their friends and being condescended to when asking what the difference was between two flavors. "There's like 50 flavors and you think I know what they all are?" is not an appropriate answer especially when most of those flavors are as as difficult to understand as Dark Chocolate and Mint Chocolate. The fudge is not made in house; it's the same crap they sell in many of the shops. And the non-chocolate base tastes like playdoh with vanilla extract.

They only offer 1 sample per person here even with no people in the store. The ice cream was decent but not worth the cost either.

This seemed to be the go to place for tourists and visitors for locally made ice cream in the area, and wow, they offered so many different flavors - from classic flavors to local or Michigan specific ones. Judging from the amount of ice cream left at the shop, it looked like 'Superman' was the number one most popular flavor. I decided to go double with that flavor and 'Blue Moon', both of which were quite delicious - sugary and most definitely with very fun colors. The blue in 'Superman' was actually 'Blue Moon' though, just FYI. The red was cherry and the yellow was just vanilla. I had to have it cause this flavor screamed the most Michigan. I think a double cup was $4.99 if I recall correctly fly. The shop sold far more stuff than just ice cream, just so you know; it was basically a fusion of an ice cream shop and a candy store, so you'd find some fudge in here as well.

Candy Playdough ice cream in a Vanilla-Chocolate Cone. Don't bother with anything else because this fresh nutmeg tasting blue moon dream with sugar cookie bits is perfection. Lord almighty. I'm not a huge ice cream person but I could literally eat this as every meal.

This place has four cases of about twenty different flavors of ice cream. It could be bad if you're indecisive... but you'll definitely find at least one flavor to love! They had blue moon, plus "blue play dough" -- a unique combo of blue moon with sugar cookie pieces. PLUS a Superman waffle cone to put it in!? SO COOL. We will definitely be stopping by here every time we are near the area HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

OMG! You have to go here and see the huge selection of ice cream!!! It was delicious! I had bear claw. Dark chocolate with caramel and chocolate covered cashews!! They also have a large selection of fudge and taffy and candy

Fresh made ice cream's and walls of candy! Sweet Spot is conveniently located in the shopping and dining plaza So it's a perfect place to stop after dinner. There is lots of free parking available as well. They had so many flavors to choose from in the fresh made ice cream's as well as a large selection of cone options. I loved all of the specialty waffle cones. Definitely I G eats. I went with a Michigan favorite, superman ice cream and a superman waffle cone. Both the ice cream and waffles were fresh and delicious!

For ice cream: great selection of flavors, great portions, great value. Much better than our visit to Mickey's a couple nights before.

Stopped in here to try their ice cream during my trip to mackinaw. What really made me choose this place over the dozen other shops was the flavored cones! I ordered a chocolate cone with Amerreto Cherry & Superman ice cream. The cherry was reaaally good. The service was ok, definitely far from friendly. If the service was better I'd give a higher rating. They also had sweets popcorn and fudge. It's like a one stop shop, but I'd rather get all that from stores dedicated to popcorn, fudge, etc. I'd say give this place a go. I will try other mackinaw ice cream then leave a review to this! Also, any true Michigander would laugh at the "'Michigan Pot Hole" flavor!!!

Delicious great service and good pricing for value & portion size. I had Mackinac Peanut Butter Fudge and my hubs had Armaretto Cherry. Both in waffle cones upside down in a bowl. One scoop is plenty

This place was a pretty nice surprise. They have a TON of varieties of fudge. We didn't buy ours from here, but they had flavors that I've never seen at the other ones- like Superman and Cheesecake. The slices are prewrapped and look a little thin and soft, but I can't speak to that from experience. What we DID buy here is popcorn. There's a whole wall of it. We got some sort of special combination package pricing that was like four bags for $30 and it came with a tote bag. We got a large bacon cheddar, a large ranch, and a small banana split, plus a large of plain ole buttered popcorn. The flavor on the bacon cheddar one was explosive, and well worth the money. The banana split one is (obviously) super sweet, but definitely tastes like banana. I want to come back to try the Mountain Dew flavor.

This place was great. Lots of treats and they kept giving me samples!!!! With that said, I had to get some ice cream (before dinner) and picked up five bags of popcorn. Very cute and fun place. So much so that we went back and sampled MORE then had to try a new flavor of their homemade ice cream. I think their popcorn here was a tinch above the rest as each place has their own unique styles of making it. They also have candy and truffles. I had to try a couple of the raspberry chocolates. The raspberry truffle was much better than the raspberry jelly filled chocolate. If you're in mackinaw city this is a must do...fun little place with delicious treats.

Gale force winds on a ridiculously blustery fall afternoon could not keep us away. The winds were actually blowing the door open if left ajar at all. We could see the waves crashing at the ferry dock down the block, but we still wanted ice cream. It did not disappoint! We each chose some sort of "Mackinac Island" flavor (how could we NOT based on where we were), one chocolate based on one peanut butter based. They were both fantastic and the portions were very generous. We ran to the car to seek refuge from the crazy winds. But, we're looking forward to returning to Sweet Spot when we'll actually have to be concerned about our ice cream actually melting if we don't eat it quickly enough!

They have 76 flavors (that's what the sign says I didn't count it but there were ALOT of flavors inside). My husband loves licorice and they actually have a licorice ice cream. He loved it. I had the black cherry dark chocolate chunk. You can sample the flavors before buying. Besides ice cream and sorbert and yogurt they have popcorns and other snacks.

The employee who helped us was EXTREMELY RUDE. The popcorn and taffy were both horrible and tasted old. There's so many better candy shops to choose from.

if i could give this place zero stars i totally would. staff was incredibly rude when i was ordering ice cream. i asked to try one sample and the tall guy in glasses refused to serve me and told me to leave immediately. i will not be back to this establishment and will certainly not recommend it to my worst enemy. there are much better options for sweets around town.

On a trip to Mackinac Island we stopped by this ice cream place in Mackinaw City. They make their own flavored cones which are delicious. My friend got a blue raspberry cone with candy play dough ice cream and she enjoyed it. I got the Michigan Pot Hole ice cream in a chocolate cone and it was so creamy and chocolatey. Overall, very good ice cream and lots of variety.

Awful fudge! Go to the authentic fudge shops. When we asked to try different flavors the girl gave up pieces the size of eraser heads. She seemed bothered by our request. They offered the best deal on buying fudge, but it wasn't worth it. The fudge was oily and soft even after being refrigerate. We had the same experience with the taffy we purchased (half the taffy was stuck to the wrapper and super gooey). We asked if we could have a refund considering we thought it was a bad batch, but the worker said there was nothing she could do otherwise her manager would make her pay for the refund. . When we told Kilwins about it while we were buying REAL fudge, they told us sweet spot has their fudge & taffy shipped from China. Moral of the story, stick to the authentic places and don't go for the best deal at a random place.

This place is amazing! It looks so cute and very inviting from the outside. The minute you walk in you feel like you're in ice cream heaven. I don't think there's any flavor they don't have. The portion are huge and the waffles delicious...I only had one scoop and my waffle broke, haha it could've been my grip, so much excitement to taste it...haha. Well, they gave me another one. This could've been one of the best ice creams I've ever had. I wish they had some vegan options. Well, it was worth the cheat ;P

Average ice cream, terrible service. If you enjoy hostile treatment, this is your place. Otherwise, take your business elsewhere.

Mom found two hairs in her ice cream, both actually embedded in the stuff, and asked for a refund. Manager didn't believe her, was extremely rude, and even threatened to call the police. Eventually got a partial refund, but obviously not under ideal circumstances. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!

This place was pretty awesome! They have different flavor waffle cones including a superman one!! I got the chocolate with brownie batter ice cream! Tons of different flavor ice creams! There are also more flavors of popcorn that I've ever seen in one place including the classics such as caramel corn, cheddar, etc. There are also fun flavors like beer, and again superman! I didn't buy any popcorn though because the girls behind the popcorn counter were kind of rude (the reason for the 4 stars rather than 5). The ice cream people were super friendly and helpful! We're going back one more time today before going back home!

So many flavors!! I had the cotton candy with a cotton candy cone, so yummy! Service was great, too!

Were looking for a local ice cream place, and this one came up often. But I have to say we were disappointed. There is a lot of variety, but we got attitude asking for more than one sample. There also seemed to be a language barrier. I asked which flavors they were known for and/or were the most popular and she couldn't give me an answer. Thought the ice cream was fine, but not something we would eat again. Too many other places to try. Probably the most disappointing part, though, is that even though the place is large, they have no seating. The entire back part is dedicated to toys and other money grabs. It was raining, so we ended up eating our ice cream huddled in a neighboring doorway with others who also couldn't believe they had not one table. I'm sure their neighbors love finding ice cream remnants in their doorways each morning.

We stopped here for ice cream while vacationing in the Mackinaw city area enticed by the amount of flavors they had. We were not disappointed! The ice cream is excellent. The only hard part is choosing a flavor. Looking forward to visiting again on my next trip up north. I also bought a few bags of popcorn. The popcorn is also delicious with a lot of variety to choose from. Great place to stop in Mackinaw City for some sweet treats

Best place for ice cream in Mackinaw City. No matter how crowded it is there is never a long wait. A lot of flavors to choose from.

We got 2 different flavors of ice cream, orange pineapple and sea salt caramel and both were delicious! There were so many different flavors that it was hard to choose what to get! They also make their waffle cones from scratch here and have a couple different kinds so I would recommend trying those!

I saw the fudges here but didn't get any because O bought too many from the other shops. I had to have the ice cream for dessert tho.. Amazing. I didn't know u can have so many flavours in popcorn till I got here. Love the design and the shop. Super girly ;) The service was great too.

Excellent ice cream shop. There's tons of interesting flavors, toppings, and waffle cones. Fair prices, friendly service. I'd highly recommend it over other places serving mass produced ice cream in fewer flavors.

My family and I came here and it is a sweet tooth's paradise. I got the summer celebration ice cream cone. It was vanilla ice cream with raspberry and blueberry sorbet. So so good! I love the combination of types!

Sometimes, you just need ice cream. And the Sweet Spot filled that void. With over 45 flavors of ice cream and 7 different types of cones, this place is a real winner in my book. I got banana foster and another variety of ice cream full of candy chunks in it. The ice cream here is a premium brand, which I recognized immediately because of the unique flavor names from previous work at an ice cream shop. I can attest the workers at the Sweet Spot give you serious bang for your buck. I.e. a large amount of ice cream.

Best ice cream in the entire Mackinac area! So many flavors and unique combinations to choose from. We had Key Lime Pie, Blackberry Dark Chocolate, Mint Cookie, and Ultimate Peanut Butter Cookie. So good!

I don't know how anyone could review this place with less than 5 stars!! The have over 60 homemade ice cream flavors!! And not just ice cream, also sherbet and frozen yogurt. I'm almost certain they have a dairy free option. Some of the flavors were nana's banana pudding, Eskimo kiss, candy play dough, blue moon, cinnamon crumble cake, and 3 types of cheese cake flavors. And of course almost every other traditional or common flavor. The store also had souvenirs and candy. Here even the waffle cones are colorful!! You can pick from about 10 waffle cone flavors. Including: traditional, cotton candy, Superman, blue raspberry, banana split, and a seasonal cone!! Behind all that sugary goodness is even more sugar, a wall of toppings for you delicious ice cream All this ice cream is $6 for a waffle cone size. Which may seem a little pricey for a ice cream but totally worth it! If your in mackinaw or Saint Ignace (across the bridge) definitely stop here!

We visited the store and bought two fudge specials at 17.99. The fudge had a gooey consistancy and oily taste. The fudge had soybean oils and other ingredients that were inconsistent with great tasting fudge. Honestly the worst tasting fudge we have ever had. The samples were the size of an eraser head so very hard to taste. The employee was not very friendly and went back the next morning for a refund and she denied it!!! The taffy was also very oily and sticky. Super bummed considering we spent almost fifty dollars. Amy

We grabbed ice cream from this place and it was amazing. I ordered two scoops of ice cream (cookie dough and a peanut butter flavor) in a S'mores waffle cone and it was absolutely divine. The scoops were fairly large and wasn't missing cookie dough or peanut butter cups. The waffle cone did not taste exactly like S'mores but it was close, next time I'll just get a regular waffle. My better half enjoyed hers as well. I'd come back here for ice cream in a heartbeat.

Pretty good! Many flavors, some I have never even heard of. I went with my friends and I ended up getting the campfire s'more, it was good, very creamy and ended up not eating all of it due to it just being too much. It was a little overpriced and that is why I gave 3 stars.

Do NOT buy fudge from here! I thought I was getting a good deal...but it was horrible! Got 4 different kinds...none of them were good. Most were not the right consistency (way too soft and "melty" even at low temps like 70) and one even tasted like the nuts or something in it was rancid. Ick! Would've given it a 1 based on the fudge. But the flavored popcorn was alright (cookies and cream, really sweet...but it's a candy shop so what do you expect, I guess.) The taffy was good...especially loved the Superman flavor.

Excellent selection of homemade ice cream. The counter girl was very pleasant. The store was clean and shiny. If it wasn't so far away I would go more often.
