Super cute bakery with one of the best selection of vegan treats I’ve seen. My friend got the doughnuts (plural), which were excellent, and I tried the BLT biscuit and pineapple loaf. The consistency of the bread was perfect, and the biscuits rivaled the best I’ve had in Nashville. The place is cozy, where standing in line 2 strangers and I found ourselves in conversation about which to choose, even though one person had been coming here for fifteen years. And the old Bundt cake tins brought back memories of my grandmother. My recommendation (and that of the fifteen year visitor) is that you can’t go wrong with the loafs, or the biscuits. Thank you!

05JUL25 we got a cinnamon streusel coffee cake n a lemon poppy strawberry jam cupcake that cinnamon streusel had that nice blend of cinnamon n sugar. after i ate some in the car i wish i had some coffee w it bc oh man, that would’ve hit. i recommend eating half now n the other half later, that way you have some later n the lemon poppy strawberry jam cupcake was the perfect size, we ate it otw to our next destination. bro that lemon flavor was exactly what we wanted, not overpowering, just right

Had the absolute best experience! Visiting from out of town with Celiac disease I was so happy to find sweet theory and sure enough the reviews did not disappoint! One of those baked goods you bit into and think “wait a minute are we sure this is safe!” But yep absolutely amazing and no issues.

This is one place where I can go to get safe gluten-free pastries and was really disappointed with my last experience. My wife and I went into the shop on 6/28 which is my birthday for me to get a few birthday treats. We were at the bakery counter while the worker was checking out a male customer. The male customer left and two women entered. My wife and I had been waiting at the counter where all the pastries are to order and so the other two women stood on the right hand side of us, closer to the door. The worker with purple hair proceeded to completely disregarded my wife and I and smiled, spoke and attempting to help the two women who had came in after only for them to tell the worker we were they first which the worker already knew and they proceeds to say “oh yes they were” and then comes over to us. This was so off putting and I really appreciate those two women who spoke up. That encounter really shifted the vibe of my day and I will not be returning. Also, the quality of the cupcakes were so poor, they had hardened. There’s no way they were fresh. To the worker, do better. Don’t make people feel small in a place where they are expecting equality. Thank you.

I catered Sweet Theory for my graduation party and we got so many compliments on the cake and cupcakes! I have never had such a DELICIOUS gluten-free cake in my life! Thank you so much to the Sweet Theory team for their attentive customer service and wonderful baking :) I absolutely will be a repeat customer!

If you are a vegan or gluten free, this place is a must try! Everything here is vegan and a majority of the baked goods are gluten free. All employees are always super knowledgeable of allergies and able to educate you on what products are safe for you. My best tip is beware this place stays very busy. I don't remember the last time I went when there on a Saturday and there wasn't a line out the door. Also keep in mind they are closed on Sunday and Monday!

Yes! My Club Chick was on point and a perfect way to start the morning. Customers were ordering a little bit of everything today and the Yoga pants cupcake is my favorite for sure - but I chose to be good today. The line was to the door per usual but the service was still swift. Honestly, It's like they kept bringing endless goodies from the back and it was just too early for me to binge sweets . I love that they are quick and efficient and the staff will take the time to answer all dietary questions. This a great sweet treat place for my vegan or even non-vegan counterparts. The atmosphere is inviting and pleasantly quaint. You just gotta try them to understand the hype. They are known to sell out early so just come in at a decent hour to secure the goods. lol

Fantastic baked goods for any occasion. This is a wonderful bakery and cafe that has an array of goodies that cater to gluten free and vegan. I tried their Homer Donut and it was so delicious. You can taste notes of strawberry (I think?) and the texture of the donut was cakey just how I like it. The cinnamon roll was for my husband but I pretty much stole it from him. It was one of the best cinnamon rolls I ever had! Sooo warm, soft and delicious. I love this place so much. They do offer coffee as well but I was a little underwhelmed by their cold brew, it was watery and the flavor was lacking. I think I will stick with getting my sweet fix. I hope to try some of their savory foods as well. The biscuit sandwiches sound great.

I have officially found my favorite place on EARTH!! Oh my goodness this place is divine. The service was wonderful, even with a long line out the door they were quick, helpful & smiling always! Stopped here this morning for breakfast! The cinnamon bun was one of the best I've had! Service was friendly! The café was clean. There are only a few tables for sitting. We sat outside and it was nice. Definitely recommend their cinnamon bun and I give it 5 stars.

I asked the crunchy moms group where to go for gluten free and allergy friendly baked goods and this place had an overwhelming amount of positive responses. Drove up today and I fell in love. The spot is adorable. Rustic, classic feeling. Reminded me of a penny candy store. The desserts- I asked what was gluten free and he said everything in the dome and I about died of happiness. I ordered 6 cupcakes because I was so excited to try what I could without going a little overboard lol They were delicious. All of them. So fudging good is so fudging good! This is my new favorite gf spot and I can't wait to go back!!

This place is amazing! I went with my fiancée and we ordered a variety of baked goods. For reference I am vegan and he's not. But he loved everything just as much as I did. The donuts were amazing. I've been looking for good vegan donuts for years and these are the best I've ever had. The cupcakes were delicious as well. The service was great and it wasn't too pricey. The inside was small but it's great to take to go! We will be back many more times :)

Everything I got here was AMAZING . I really loved their gluten free loaf and their glazed donut . My mom had the cinnamon roll and it was glorious . Everything was so tasty . I'm a vegan baker and wow their stuff blew me out the water especially that French toast loaf that was gluten free I was like wow . The moistness it was just delicious . The staff was helpful and sweet . And the place is very retro and cuteeeee . When I visit Jax again will def be back here

We had a 1st birthday party for my youngest, a few of the families attending have celiac disease, so to make sure all the kids could enjoy the birthday party I ordered from Sweet Theory. It was super easy as I was able to place an order online after reviewing their menu. I received a quote in a timely manner and scheduled a pick up date. I paid for the order in full a few days before the scheduled pick up date. When I arrived the staff had the order ready to go for me and helped me walk everything to the car. I ordered a variety of flavors from: lemon/lavender, vanilla birthday cake, lemon, & chocolate w/ salt Carmel. I was only able to try the smash cake as the cupcakes went so fast!!! Everyone talked about how delicious the cupcakes were. I LOVED the lavender cake, I will definitely order that again. Now I am interested in trying their other baked goods I always see on Instagram! Definitely a MUST try

I am recommending this spot to my friends who want a sugar fix in Jax! All their products are vegan and free of many common allergens (with many gluten free options). Their bestsellers are their lemon cake, coffee cake, cookie sandwiches, chocolate fudge cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, and donuts. I couldn't buy the whole store so I just got the coffee cake and a matcha rose cookie sandwich ($9 total). The cookie sandwich was amazingly soft but not messy to eat, while the coffee cake slice was rich with flavor. Probably some of the best vegan baked goods I've had in awhile!

Someone brought Sweet Theory cupcakes and donuts to work last week. They were delicious. So I decided to go on Saturday to get some for my family. Sat they open at 9am, I arrived around 10am. Bought 2 donuts and 2 cinnamon rolls and they were all dry and seemed stale. Seems like I paid full price ($17+) for at least day-old goods. Gross. Layout & service was also not efficient. I won't be a returning customer and cannot recommend them.

Line starts forming 15-20 mins before they open. One cashier and one person fulfilling the orders. Aroma in the shop is amazing. Wish they had a sign to let customers know what item they have before they are about to order. Slow service but worth the wait

I had never heard of Sweet Theory until last weekend. One of my friends insisted we go in after hanging out next door. I've been on a health kick so I stayed outside while they went in. They brought out their goodies and let me have a bite of each and I was hooked! I decided to go in and made two purchases. My first purchase was a small chocolate cupcake with a dabble of salted caramel on top. So moist and delicious! Gone in two seconds. My second purchase was a donut topped with cookie crumbles. The texture of the donut was not as soft as a glazed but not as thick as a cake donut. It was somewhere in the middle. And let me tell you the middle is where it's at LOL! I enjoyed this delightful pastry so much. Honestly I'll probably not go back for a while because I am on a weight loss journey. But I will go back at some point in the future!

This little local bakery is to die for! Everything is Vegan and they have a lot of gluten free options! I ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches and a Pineapple Carrot loaf and it was one of the best breakfasts I'd had in all of Jacksonville. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the staff is very welcoming. 10/10

When it's National Donut Day....we eat donuts!! maple & "bacon" and a biscoff donut.. always very good, all vegan and some gluten free options. They have donuts, cupcakes, brownies, sandwiches, cakes. Go in early because they do sell out. I'll say my absolute favorite is the cinnamon roll!!

Cute little bakery. Came upon this place on accident. It's a few doors down from the Riverside liquor store that my husband stopped at. Being a home baker myself, I just had to check it out. They have a variety of pastries and the names are cute. The ladies who greeted us were friendly and helped us choose items to bring home to the fam. We went with a slice of the coffee cake, lemon loaf, a stretchy pants cupcake, and a yoga pants cupcake. It all looked and smelled delicious. The family was happy!

I love this place! You cannot tell it's vegan and gluten free - specially the brownie bites and the berry coffee cake! They are my favorites and very delicious!

I love baked goods and Sweet Theory is a name I have heard and read- so when it popped up as the closest bakery when John was craving a cookie (or something sweet)- I clicked directions and found my way over. Now, we both read the sign out front that says vegan-gluten free.... but when you are not vegan, it really doesn't register what the implications are. As my other half found out when he grabbed the last maple-bacon donut. I opted for the lemon-lavender cake (which I was saddened the label was wrong- as it read lemon-blueberry) and the strawberry-lavender cake. Before we arrived I had mentioned that we should grab something for John's parents- since we were going to dinner there later- but nothing jumped out at me as something either of them would like. Now- I enjoyed the lemon-lavender cake, but could only eat 2 bites because it was so dense. I was guzzling my iced tea trying to find the moisture the cake had sucked from my entire throat. And even this morning- with my coffee- I am struggling to eat the cake because of how dense it is. John, on the other hand, realized his mistake after taking a bite of his not bacon- maple-bacon donut. OooOOhhhh- it's vegan. It was laughable. In fact- I did laugh. He said he was looking for that sweet to salty ratio and that it was missing with the fake bacon. I suggested an alternative- but he insisted he was good now. He also assumed I didn't like my cake because I only took a couple bites and put it back in the box. I corrected him, but our choices from the bakery leave me feeling this is "ok" instead of great. IF you are vegan or in need of gluten free then I am sure you will rave about this place. For me it was a miss- but I've seen so much love for this bakery, so I know my opinion won't make a dent in their stellar reputation! Maybe it will be a warning for the randoms like me who only like but don't love vegan. ;)

I drove 35 min from my house to try their amazing cinnamon buns! I must say the drive was so worth it. A friend posted a picture of the pastries she purchased on Facebook and it made me want to give it a try. When I arrived, they had a ton of Covid safety measures by restricting how many people were inside and where they waited. All employees social distance md wear masks and gloves. I purchased 2 cinnamon buns and 2 donuts, a homer and a maple bacon. They were all freshly baked, soft and delicious. I was so excited and the fact that it vegan made with wholesome ingredients. I highly recommend. Tastes amazing! I will return for more cinnamon buns.

Sweet Theory has the best vegan donuts, cinnamon buns, and cupcakes! It's easy to get lost in the sweet stuff. Don't forget to try their biscuits. My favorite is the sausage biscuit on the black pepper biscuit. It's made from white beans and is delicious! There is usually a line but the service is always fantastic. Grab a coffee and one of the two tables outside for a peaceful morning in riverside.

I wish I would have taken more pictures but I was so eager to eat my cupcake.... If you want something sweet and you're lucky enough to be in the area while they are open you should do yourself the favor and stop for a treat because you will NOT be disappointed. Everything I've ever had from here is amazing! I got the "so fudgin good cupcake" and it was so fudgin good I wish I had another words don't describe.... The chocolate cupcake and the icing was RICH! It was just pure goodness melt in your mouth. If I could give this place more stars I would. The decor inside was too cute the blast from the past typewriter and old school phones was thrilling but again I was so excited to eat no photos were taken. I told them not to even put my cupcake in a box I ate it walking out the door it was amazing lol wheeew make sure you pay sweet theory a visit!

Sweet Theory was such a pleasant surprise! We visited a couple weeks back and the store had protocols and measures in store to keep staff and customers safe during the pandemic. Even with a mask on the staff was friendly and smiling. You can tell in the eyes. The store itself still has a nice atmosphere even with the seats stacked and instructions for where to stand six feet apart. My wife and I ordered a donut each, a double down biscuit sandwich (Biscuit with White Bean Sausage, Earth Balance and Coconut Bacon), and an iced coffee. Each item was superb! My biscuit was very tasty and I couldn't tell and didn't care that it was vegan. My donut, a simple chocolate glaze, was amazing. I made sure to try and slow down while eating it because I wanted it to last. Some items may seem a little pricey, but the quality is so high that you will understand after the first bite. I highly suggest a visit to anyone who has a sweet tooth or a hunkering for a nice indulgence. This place is special!

My wife has talked this place up for years and we finally had the opportunity to head up to Riverside Jax to try Sweet Theory. Well this was the best bakery I have had in a long time. I am a donut crazed person and their glazed donut and chocolate donut was absolutely amazing. You wouldn't even know they are a vegan bakery. I ended up getting a massive cinnamon roll for at home that evening since we live an hour away. If I could I would make the drive every weekend for their baked goods. If you're in Riverside Jax please stop by and try the donuts or cupcakes.

Absolutely delicious sweets and a great variety of unique flavors. There is always a line so be prepared for that, you can order ahead if you want to claim your treats before they run out. The place is tiny, only a couple spots inside to sit and a bit outside, whenever I go by the line is usually out the door.

Delicious pastries! We are so lucky to have this wonderful sweet shop in our city. The doughnuts are luscious and tasty. The maple bacon was off the charts good! The cinnamon roles looked so good but by our turn they were gone bye bye. They had a lemony roll and it was a great choice. I had to get a chocolate whoopie cake, a brownie (yum) and strawberry lavender cake. Everything is fresh, homemade and will sell out!

Mouthwatering donuts you would never guess were vegan! I love my meat and cheese but this about the best darn donut I've ever had. Absolutely must try the "Homer" donut: it.is.incredible! They also sell phenomenal brownies and other baked goods in addition to splendid and uniquely crafted biscuits/sandwiches. DON'T PASS SWEET THEORY UP! You'll regret it!

This is the best bakery I have ever been - hands down for vegan baking. Unbelievable "hostess" type cupcakes, coffee cake, and even cinnamon rolls. Wish we could order in NJ - but no such luck. Absolute must go-to in Jacksonville.

Omg the chocolate chip cookie sandwich though?! Need I say more?? A friend/neighbor of mine told me she dreams of Sweet Theory and is basically obsessed with the place so when we were in the area I knew we had to finally check it out for ourselves! It didn't disappoint! Lots of great options, including items for dietary restrictions/sensitivities but you'd never know because these delicious treats are packed with a punch full of sweet and savory goodness. Today the loads (raspberry especially) were drawing our eye, also the chocolate chip cookie sandwich (omgggg), cinnamon donut muffin, sea salt brownie bite and cupcakes! They also had biscuits, brownies, coffee cake and various coffees. I would venture to say their is definitely something for everyone to enjoy at Sweet Theory!

Delicious food and customer service as always. We were happy to see they had the outdoor tables back, and we enjoyed our meal "al fresco".

One of my favorite bakeries EVER! Forget the best gluten-free/vegan cupcakes, they have the best cupcakes period. We've used Sweet Theory for a few party cakes and everyone is always shocked that they're vegan! I love that they change what they have every day so you'll always be surprised by what they have each time! They post their daily menu on Instagram when they open in the mornings so be sure to check before you head over. Anything chocolate is my suggestion, especially the brownie bites. Their seasonal selections are always amazing.

Dear Sweet Theory, I discovered your sweet yumminess in 2014 and it was Love at First Bite. Unfortunately, you are located far away from my home, so I have to figure out reasons to come downtown for your phenomenal donuts. A doctors appointment downtown gets rewarded with your S'mores donut that reminds me of camping with my grandparents. I rush through Christmas in the South to sink my teeth into thick glazed yeastiness the day after Thanksgiving. I would walk to the ends of the earth for any of your baked goods!

Absolutely love this little bakery! They sell vegan baked goods and treats and I wanted to try some. So glad I did. Best donuts ever!!!! They don't skim on the toppings and the dough to icing ratio was on point. They are dog friendly but you can't bring your dog inside unless it's a service animal. I have a service dog and they were super nice about me bringing him in, even though he was a little hyper that day haha. I ordered the matcha lemon, blueberry french toast, homer, and maple bacon donuts.The "bacon" on top of the maple donut was actually smoked coconut chips! Totally got me fooled. I thought it tasted like turkey bacon! Matcha lemon- tastes lemon-y with a hint of matcha flavor. Was refreshing and delightful Blueberry french toast-tasted exactly like how it sounds! Could use more blueberry flavor but it was still tasty Homer-classic Simpsons donut with strawberry icing and sprinkles. I loved it! Maple bacon- my favorite! I loved the sweet taste of maple syrup and the smokiness and saltiness of the "bacon" was a great combination. I had the iced vanilla latte with rice milk. It was a little on the unsweet side but I still enjoyed it. My first time trying rice milk. These donuts are huge for the price! Each donut was packed and bursting with flavor. I cannot wait to try other flavors.

Sweet Theory is my favorite dessert shop! They have any kind of pastry you could ever imagine with choices of gluten free! I think everybody should give them a chance!

We stood in line for 40 minutes with the Covid protocols but well worth the wait and appreciate the attention to keeping everyone safe. I figured if we stood in line that long, there is no way I am walking out without at least a couple boxes of goodies. I am a doughnut freak so picked up some classic glazed, chocolate, berry jams, sweet potato biscoff, and a maple "bacon" (everything's vegan so its coconut) As much as I doughnuts, the creme de la creme is the make your mouth water cinnamon roll. They are on a whole other level. Prices are a bit high( 28.00 for a dozen doughnuts) but the quality and service are top notch.

Okay, my family might have been throwing some serious shade when they saw all the baked goods I just ate. Haven't I had enough? Umm, no! Besides, Sweet Theory is an all-vegan bakery (which as I always say, it's probably healthy...just don't show me the label!). This place could easily be at home in Los Angeles with its hipster vibe and vegan, cruelty-free baked goods. There was no doubt, that we'd be making a stop here during my last visit to see my family in Jacksonville. We ordered some vegan brownies (amazing), but my sister got the best baked good... Their classic dough-muff. It is pretty much what it sounds like -- a donut in a muffin form. Move over cronut, there's a new mash-up pastry in town! Make sure you grab one (or three) and enjoy it on the cozy couch inside below the Mr. T framed photo.... and a bike (that I'm not sure is decor or for riding). Who knows, but we're still thinking of that dough-muff!

Yum yum yum! Satisfied my sweet tooth and boy are their portions more than enough! From their loafs to their coffee bread, cupcakes to Whoopi pies... they made my gluten free belly so flips (in the best way possible). Very happy ans very satisfied with what I got. I suggest the pineapple carrot loaf and the coffee cake!
