Seen reviews thought we’d give this place a try. Quaint little place.. former residential place turned into this cafe bistro. Chef is onsite! 🫶🏽 Baked savories and sweets is part of their menu. Friendly local staff and generous serving of help if you have any questions. Ordered the meatballs with provolone - meaty morsels and that melted cheese, Turkey BLT on a super tasty focaccia that is yummy with every bite plus the ground mustard just compliments this sandwich so well. What’s better on a hot Texas summer day than iced tea- peach or blackberry. Every table has a different set of salt and pepper shakers.. adds to the charm of this place. They offer back patio seating.. it’s quaint but enough to transport you back to your Grammy’s shaded back porch for a glass of iced tea and a bite to eat feeling If we’re not in hurry next time, plan to try their amazing looking cookies and mini Key lime pies or flourless chocolate baked goods.

We stopped by for a late lunch while driving across west Texas. I'm so glad we chose to go off the beaten path and give this place a chance. It's so charming! The customer service was outstanding-helpful, friendly, and attentive. The locale/property is very nice. We opted to eat outside and it was very comfortable. The food was good and reasonably priced. There are 2-3 vegetarian options here. We drive through Abilene a few times a year and we'll definitely be back.

There was a line since a seminar just let out at the hotel so they couldn’t control that. Chicken salad sandwich was delicious! I also ordered the cinnamon roll bread pudding, which was just ok. I was definitely missing a pinch of salt to round out the flavors. But overall we enjoyed the food.

Google
My husband and I came here to escape the scorching hot sun, and to our surprise found a cute little spot that filled our little tummies. Just be aware if you get the tea it is not sweet. The workers were sweet and nice and the blonde waitress was quick to assist people and quick on her feet. Would definitely recommend!!

Google
Absolutely fantastic! We are from Dallas and loved this place. The food was so fresh and delicious. The blt pasta salad was so good and refreshing, and the cinnamon roll was chef's kiss! 10 out of 10 will recommend to all my local family about this place. Service was amazing as well, very friendly and super helpful with finding food for my daughter!

Google
Amazing place! My mom just had brain surgery recently and is on a strict healthy diet and this place met all accommodations and needs and were very friendly and welcoming. Amazing food and drink options and homey atmosphere with grass courtyard outside for our dog to run around. We got salads and their lentil soup which were exactly what we needed. Misty and Joshua were very friendly and great to talk to and made sure we were taken care of!

Yelp
Cozy and quaint yet such a popular spot! For a good reason too! The food is genuinely fresh, yummy! Feels like going to your grandmother's house! You'll receive a warm smile when you walk in and when they drop your food off at your table. Fresh bread, veggies, fruit! It felt so peaceful in there. Genuinely such a gem. Quality and quantity of the food was perfect. Open on Saturdays as well so it's perfect for a lunch in between thrifting or checking out local shops. I will say there is a similar concept down the street, but I must emphasize that STK won me over. Will happily be back soon!

Yelp
Only saving grace of this is the meatball pocket, soup lacked substance and flavor, and the bread pudding was on the bland side and an unpleasant spongy texture. I say this with confidence I could make a better soup and Bread Pudding

Yelp
Nice quaint little place. Great coffee, helpful staff - limited breakfast menu. Lunch menu looked really good with more options.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! Misty was a sweetheart that went above and beyond to accommodate. From the warm welcoming to the super fresh healthy food! So nice to eat good wholesome food. I just had brain surgery and have dietary restrictions like no sugar or caffeine and they had wonderful options. I'm grateful when places out there have accommodating healthy options for folks with health concerns/restrictions. Super clean and cute ambiance. Nice courtyard to eat on picnic benches if you have a fur baby too! I had lentil vegetable soup and it was delicious! health is wealth y'all!

Yelp
Visiting my old hometown and wanted lunch before hitting the road. Found this place when our 1st option fell through. Arguably the friendliest staff I've encountered in a while. I ordered a club sandwich, my wife ordered the pear salad. Sandwich was fine, nothing special, but she loved her salad. Got the praline scone for dessert, highlight of the meal. Food was very good, but not amazing (menu is limited, but thats standard for small bistros), staff was exceptional.

Yelp
From beginning to end, great experience. Super creative and dynamic menu, with magical words such as "from scratch", "local produce" and "freshly cooked". Chrissy was an awesome ambassador of culture and art in Abilene, giving us great tips as new comers. Delightfully decorated, the place is a historic treasure, even the bathroom transported me to a little chateaux in France. Will be coming back!

Yelp
My husband and I tried this bistro for the first time today. The food was super delicious! I got the turkey focaccia sandwich. It was sliced turkey, lettuce, tomato, avocado and honey mustard on homemade focaccia. The bread, although thick, was super flavorful. They make everything from scratch, which is super impressive! I also had a cup of the soup of the day and it was good. My husband had the turkey caprese sandwich (not photographed). He wasn't a fan of how thick the bread was but I thought his sandwich was delicious. We shared the cinnamon roll and I believe it had cream cheese icing. In any case, it wasn't overly sweet. We paid $26.95 for 2 sandwiches, 1 cup of soup, 1 tea, 2 bags of chips. And then 3.79 for for the cinnamon roll. Moderate pricing

Yelp
5 star reviews have a downside. I tell y'all how GREAT this place is, then it gets busy and I can't get in! But that's ok, yelpers are a very sharing people, and spreading the word helps keep these places in business. My first time here. It's a house, turned bakery and Bistro. Pardon me, I meant GREAT bakery and cafe. Sandwiches and salads on the menu. Quiche, frittatas, and baked goods in the case up front. We had the avocado turkey sandwich on focaccia and the STK club sandwich, both with side salads. Everything was fantastic! Right down to the homemade ranch dressing. And they make really good tea. The owner, Missy I think, came out and talked to us. Super nice and a great person. She said don't forget dessert! And that's when things got crazy. We were full, so dessert was to go. We took home German chocolate cake, key lime pie, cinnamon rolls, and some quiche. With a great big smile, she gave us free cookies! Score! We definitely enjoyed our visit here, and will be back for sure. Thanks STK!

Yelp
Lovely place for a nice lunch. Passing through on a road-trip. Looking for local fare (and avoiding chains). Great find. Key Lime pie may require another road-trip!!!

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful experience. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was so good! I ordered the potato leek soup, my daughter the quiche and we split the turkey pesto sandwich- so much flavor!! We even got a pastry to go - highly recommend the cinnamon roll. We will certainly be back, next time with a book- such a comfortable environment.

Yelp
We found this on a fluke, and what a find it was! Fantastic food, and the desserts are AMAZING!! We had Caesar Salad, Grownup Grilled Cheese, Potato-Leek Soup, BLT Pasta Salad, Turkey Caprese Salad and the Watermelon Salad. Y'all! Every bite of the food was full of flavor and seasoned well. We were too full for dessert, but we got some anyway . We had a Tres Leches cupcake, a Lemon Whoopie Pie, and the Cherry Almond Cheesecake. We all tasted the desserts, and they were just insanely good! Go try this place - it's worth it!!

Yelp
Very good food cheap and know on a first name basis for repeat customers. The pecan praline is to die for

Yelp
Cute restaurant with nice soups, salads and sandwiches. Very friendly customer service.

Yelp
Great food!!! Well prepared! Great location and and ambiance! But the best part are the people! Very nice and friendly folks. I had the quiche and soup for lunch. Picked up 2 key lime individual pies to go with a berry fried pie and 2 mile high chocolate chip cookies. The food is delicious! The cookies are probably the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever eaten! The team here takes pride in their food and it shows. Get over to 6th and Hickory for a really yummy lunch. If you check their Facebook on Tuesday, they offer Friday night suppers for pickup. You have to order by Wednesday for Friday or Saturday pickup. The meal changes weekly! Enjoy! I sure did. I will be back!

Yelp
There are those of us who consider food an essential experience. We enjoy varied, interesting, and complex flavors that work together in new and unexpected ways. We've learned that food is something that you can touch, feel, smell, hear, and obviously taste. Sweet Thyme Kitchen, is for everyone but it is a haven for people who enjoy experiencing food. The things that set sweet time apart are the time, care, and thought that they put into their food. I find myself impressed by the list of things that they won't do. They won't use a delivery service because they cannot guarantee that the experience that they mean for you to have won't be interrupted or ruined by poor delivery or the time that it takes to get to you. They don't purchase from gigantic corporate food service providers but instead buy fresh, local ingredients every single day. Their food isn't just nutrients for your body to process. It is art. Their care and attention to detail and the joy that exists inside of this little cafe is something that has to be experienced to really understand what makes Sweet Thyme Kitchen the best restaurant in Abilene.

Yelp
i got the turkey on focaccia (mayo instead of honey mustard) and it's so tasty!! this is only my second visit but it's so good, you'll wish you had more. the first time i got the lou's cold brew, and as someone who isn't a huge cold brew fan, it was so yummy. this time they didn't have any so they made me a vanilla latte and it was just as delicious!! i didn't catch the name of the lady that took my order (pink/purple hair), but she was super sweet and helpful! aside from the amazing food and great staff, it's such a cozy and welcoming place and i can't recommend this place enough!

Sally J.

Yelp
Found this spot on Apple maps when we got hungry while driving through the area. It was like going home to mom's house for an amazing quiche. Clean, cozy, comfy, sweet, loving, etc etc. such nice vibes.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and baked goods. There is always something fresh rotating through the menu. Great friendly staff that is very personable. The chocolate chip cookies are HUGE and DELICIOUS! Key lime pie is amazing also! They are always keeping the menu fresh with daily specials. I would highly recommend!

Yelp
The food was outstanding not to mention top notch customer service. The decor is beautiful, i ordered a frittata with a side salad. Best meal I've had in a long while.

Yelp

Yelp
The best lunch option in Abilene. Everything is fresh and made from scratch! Everyone is incredibly kind, and the food is consistently great. Be sure to check out the pastries too!

Yelp
Great food, friendly service. We had a ciabatta turkey caprese sandwich, pear salad, bow tie chicken and cheese special, a mini key lime pie and mini kahlua chocolate cake. All delicious.

Yelp
We were staying in an Airbnb that was right next to this gem of a place. But we had no idea till we were out in the front yard and the owners came out to say hi. They were so incredibly kind and told us to come check it out. We went a tad crazy but it was well worth it. We ended up getting the pot pies which I was told by my bf was one of the best pot pies he's had. The potato soup I was told was great as well. The meatball Sandwhich that I ordered was very delicious, good flavor and had a kick or spice that was unique. We got two types of quiche, the pea one which I'm not a fan of peas so wasn't for me but it's presentation was nice. I did love the bacon, ham and cheese quiche though. The giant cinnamon roll was fantastic and much enjoyed by the kids. The Black Forest cake and key lime pie were to die for! Honestly this place was impressive. The food was fresh and had that special handmade touch I love. The venue itself is super charming and well utilized.

Yelp
LOVE their food! Everything is amazing. Both my husband & I enjoy their food & it's our go to for a weekly lunch date. Their chicken caesar salad is my favorite! My husband likes all their sandwiches which are made on their homemade breads especially the meatball sandwich. Appreciate how they have a gluten free pastry each time. Employees & owners are friendly & thankful you are there supporting their business. Great place for lunch & catering.

Yelp
Favorite new lunch spot. Everything I've had has been incredibly good. Location is great and food is even better! Staff is super friendly and the owners are very kind! Abilene is lucky to have a restaurant like this!!!

Yelp
Awesome place to eat and or just have coffee! The owners are very nice and love people. Have been here almost weekly for last 2 months and it's always. Make

Yelp
What a great addition to Abilene! Delicious and affordable food options for breakfast and lunch! I got the poached pear salad with the soup of the day (tomato) and both were large portions and scrumptious! I meant to take some pictures but dig in and ate it all before I remembered, lol. The ambiance is great too- light and airy in a house setting! Check 'em our!

Yelp
This place is a diamond in the ruff! Me and my wife love coming here for a light but fulfilling breakfast. You can tell the food is thoughtfully made and it is shown in the taste. The cinnamon rolls was amazing as well! I have nothing bad to say about this place. Very clean and welcoming feel with lots of seating. Was very pleased with our entire experience and we will be coming back a lot for this place, but we expect it to be packed soon enough! Highly recommend

David L.

Yelp
I don't usually do reviews for Yelp, but I could not help responding to Sarah M's opinions on the Sweet Thyme Kitchen (June, 2019). The soup she refers to is chicken ginger. I have had it - it is delicious. The chicken salad sandwiches are one of their most popular items. Likewise, I have tried them and found them to be excellent. We have eaten many of the items on the Sweet Thyme menu and found all of them to be outstanding. Their breakfast items are always fresh and delicious, and their deserts are wonderful. This review was so far out of line with all the other Yelp reviews I wonder if it was not a scam! David

Annie C.

Yelp
Favorite place in Abilene I will be stopping everyone I come through town. The springpea and asparagus frittata was the best I've ever had

Sarah M.

Yelp
If I could give you a rating of minus 1,000, I would. One got the soup of the day which was some kind of ginger and some other spice. It was dark, thin, tasteless and had almost black pieces of disgusting, limp, slimy romaine in it. Also got the Caesar salad and it was even worse. Very dark and slimy romaine with not much else in it. The person who expected a nice lunch said he had eaten that salad all around the world and that this one was the worst, by far, of any he had ever had anywhere. The other person had the chicken salad on your homemade roll. Nothing special at all about the little chicken salad that was on the high, tough, hard roll. Could hardly bite or chew it and it had no special taste at all, the roll I mean, but that also goes for the salad. We had the tea which was not sweet and three packs of sugar in each one did nothing to stem the bitterness. I told the other to not eat any more than the couple of bites already taken, because I was sure it would be stomach churning at best for the rest of the day. Took my chicken salad in case I wanted a snack later, and we left, almost $25 poorer. Went to a Mexican restaurant and paid almost another $25 to finally have a meal. Did put that bit of chicken salad on one piece of bread in the evening. Could have and should have made it myself in five minutes in my own kitchen and actually put some extra good things in it. Restaurants in Abilene are not really known for quality or quantity, but this one is beyond the pale. How you stayed in the catering business in Austin for all those years is beyond us. Even with our learned low expectations here, we doubt you will make it beyond a few months. Anyone want a $20,000 vent hood--cheap?
