I’m so happy Sweet Tomatoes is back! We finally had the opportunity to stop by again and had the greatest experience! The salad bar was fresh and well stocked. There was a lot of different options to build your own. I am vegan so I really appreciate everything clearly labeled. I enjoyed the vegetable soup, potatoes, and sourdough bread. We left completely full and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Tucson.

Ah Sweet Tomatoes, how I missed you. Me and some friends loaded up the car to drive to Tuscon from Phoenix and it was totally worth it! It hasn't changed a bit. Nice people, clean big restaurant. Love making a big ol' salad and chowing down. Grab some soup, bread, pasta and mousse for dessert. Really hoping they bring it back to Phoenix!!!

Google
This was my first time at sweet Tomatoes, my wife and I didn't know what to expect, from a salad bar bar buffet! We were pleasantly surprised on how good it was and we actually got full from not just salad but from all kinds of different types of food on there menus like pasta, macaroni, and different types of assorted muffins and cakes. They even had ice cream with sprinkles! Lol. But our overall experience was very good and I will go back.

Google
Literally just as I remember it and then some! Amazing service from the crew all around. The sugar free chocolate mousse and Clam Chowder were to DIE for. So good. I drove 2 hours here ate and drove the 2hours back. 100% worth it.

Came here with my wife and a friend while on vacation. My wife was super excited as she hadn't been to one since before Covid, and I was excited because I had never been to one 😁 We arrived and were greeted by nice staff. I think it's really neat that you can get a salad right off the bat. Mine was the turkey one, and I got some cottage cheese and that tuna pasta salad. Everything was delicious, what shocked me the most was how good the tuna pasta salad was! Then I got another plate and some smaller plates of stuff. I love how they make the pasta right in front of you, and when its right out of the pan it is fire πŸ”₯ My favorite is the mac and cheese that's so good I don't know how it's vegan, I said what I said πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‹ Their chili was good too πŸ‘πŸ» And of course what is a buffet without ice cream? So I got that for dessert. I was very happy to go here with my wife for the first time, and it was very cute seeing how giddy she was 😊

Google
Could never go to a Sweet Tomatoes after they closed in Phoenix. Glad to come about a hundred miles to Tuscon and had the change to come. It's a bit of time to go through the beginning salad bar. And there aren't many beverages and the ice cream taste a bit weird but all the other foods are great Pizza and Penne pasta πŸ˜‹. Jk they're a bit basic and all the soups are very delicious

Google
I have traveled many miles to visit this Sweet Tomatoes multiple times. It's just about the same as the good days of having many locations. Fresh salads, soups, breads, and noodle dishes! A true treat to visit! The staff is nice and friendly. If you're in or even out of the area, I highly recommend making the journey to visit the only Sweet Tomatoes.

Google
Flew down from California and it was absolutely worthwhile. Exactly as I remember it! I just hope they continue their comeback and spread across the country again.

Yelp
Of course I am going to give Sweet Tomatoes 5 stars....it's Souplantation with a different name. I miss Souplantation so much and was so excited to get a chance to eat at Sweet Tomatoes while in town vising Saguaro National Park. The ranch is creamy and rich, the salad bar fresh with all of the perfect topping choices, and the soups hot. I was happy to see that hard boiled eggs were still an option for salads and there were even some new savory foods from the hot bar. They didn't have my favorite soup, broccoli and cheddar, but they did have a chicken pot pie soup that I tried, and it was very flavorful. Please open in San Diego!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place for a long time. I finally had a chance to go with a friend. Nothing has changed. Same food, friendly wait staff, and cleanliness. The clam chowder had HUGE chunks of clam, the salads were spot on. We were really happy with the consistency of what Sweet Tomatoes was and still is. Great job! Now, if you'd just buy a few more of the closed Sweet Tomatoes and get this great chain back in business, you'd have a lot of happy people!

Yelp
Love me some Sweet tomatoes! We use to go almost weekly before the pandemic. Now we had to drive to Tucson for it. Everything is just as it has always been- fresh salads, fresh ingredients and all the toppings!! Great pizza, pasta and of course the soups! Cream of mushroom is my favorite and it did not disappoint! Only negative- the tapioca pudding was the color of butterscotch and tasted like root beer.. too off... We need one in Phoenix!!
google avatar

Jodi W.

Yelp
How does one not live what used to be soup plantation? All the sweet tomatoes in the country closed during pandemic and Tucson was lucky enough to get them back first. Everything is amazing. The food is fresh, the chili recipe is the same. The place is card only but bring a few bucks to tip the people who walk around and bus the tables. They deserve it. Inside it's been busy and full each time I've gone. Not too noisy not a long line. I highly recommend going.

Yelp
Everything I miss and love about Sweet Tomatoes is still going strong here in Tucson AZ. The only staple item I didn't find was the honey butter for the amazing muffins but then again it could just be seasonal or no longer offered. Honestly barely worth the complaint. We need these back nationwide stat.

Yelp
What's not to like? Buffets do make me slightly nervous from a hygiene standpoint, but I wash my hands/ sanitize after every trip to a station before eating and have never had an issue eating here. The produce is always fresh, cold, crisp as it should be and there are so many options at the salad bar to please everyone. We also enjoy the soups which rotate, baked regular and sweet potatoes with toppings, pastas and little flatbreads, and dessert options including pastries/ muffins, soft serve ice cream and toppings, sugar-free mousse and puddings, and fresh fruit. The prices are reasonable, especially for lunch, and we always leave feeling satisfied. The staff works hard to keep things clean and organized, clear plates quickly, etc.

Yelp
I can see why this place went out of business not long after covid started. The entire business model is based on buffet style eating and during those days no one wanted others to be around their food Since it reopened they have better covid safety precautions in place but the general buffet vibe remains. Having never been it reminds me like if Dennys were a buffet. The food is average. You start with a make your own salad bar and then they have soups, breads, and pasta available at their hot stations. They also have a full ice cream service bar. I think for the salad lovers you will love coming here. If you're looking for a something more substantial then go elsewhere. We will be back eventually as everything is fairly cheaper.
google avatar

Krysta W.

Yelp
Yup we went and it was everything I removed and better!!! Very clean and both side of the buffet were open and the staff was super attentive getting us a place to sit. Drove down from chandler and definitely will do it again! Melinda our server was amazing... give that girl a raise because she was a 15/10 awesome. The food was so much better than I remember except it didn't have loaded potato soup but the potatoes were perfect

Yelp
I haven't been to a sweet tomatoes in ages as they've closed down other than this location so was excited to try it. We went during dinner time and it was busy. The line went quickly which was nice. I filed up on salad, pasta, bread, soup and dessert. Hands down best items were the tomato soup, pizza slice to dip, gluten free coconut muffin and sweet potato. Overall a great time. The ambiance was homey.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm really happy they reopened this place. We really love a good soup and salad once in a while and it just hits the spot. There are other options too, pizza and pasta, etc, so there a little something for everyone. Will return.

Yelp
Crazy how going into a Sweet Tomatoes is now considered a throwback moment. But here we are, experiencing a great throwback moment. From walking through the front doors, all of the good memories come rushing back. I love how everything is exactly as I remember. The same layout, the same good salads, the same good pastas, soups, and breads. The same good desserts. Service is solid, just as I remembered, quickly and efficiently clearing used plates and trays out of the way. I hope this place continues to go strong. As the last remaining Sweet Tomatoes in the whole United States, this place should be cemented as a good landmark at this point :)

Yelp
I recently visited with some friends that used to love sweet tomatoes, and we all had a great experience! According to my friends, not much has changed, which is great! It was my first time there and I was pretty impressed, the food tasted great and they were constantly putting out food! My biggest tip is that you shouldn't move on from the salad bar until you are positive you're 100% done with it, the salad is the hardest one to come back to! Service was great, they were constantly making their rounds and clearing our table! Forgetting the exact price, but for 1 person (fountain drink and buffet) it was around $15.
google avatar

Yelp
The food just wasn't good. It's buffet the salad that I got seem to have had water in it but over all the quality of the good was poor.

Yelp
I flew here from California. I'm in a state of ecstasy. Please bring all of the Sweet Tomatoes back. I will do anything. The mac, schmack. The focaccia, fuckatcha. The soup, not poop. Absolutely bussin, all across the board. Had to unbutton my jeans just so I could fit more focaccia in my pockets. The service was also great, and I felt God was with me in the restaurant. See you next thyme Sweet Tomatoes.

Yelp
We routed our road trip from Austin, Texas to Las Vegas, Nevada to go to Sweet tomatoes in Tucson, Arizona. If you weren't a fan before, then you might not understand the nostalgia of this restaurant. In May 2020 all Sweet Tomatoes closed due to COVID. They never reopened but thanks to social media getting the word out, we saw one and only one spot say it was open April 2024. We did so much research to make sure that this place was actually open and not a hoax. In June 2025, one of our road trip spots was Tucson, Arizona strictly to go to Sweet Tomatoes. Our hotel was even chosen to be close. When we arrived at the parking lot my son and I both got really excited and nervous at the same time. How can this be the same? Can it be as good? Are we kidding ourselves to think we can go back to that pre-Covid restaurant we love so much? But the minute you walk in it's all the same. You are flashed back to that time and that smell!!! The trays still boast sweet tomato logo. You still get those red orange and yellow plates. You walk your tray and plate down the line getting either the premade incredibly and tastefully designed salads or you make your own with a boost of so many options. Like I said, the rundown is incredible. You have carrots, cucumbers, olives, sweet pickles, regular pickles, chickpeas, peas, beets, Romain, lettuce, spring mix, sunflower, seeds, croutons, few options of cold pasta salads, broccoli salad, & cheeses, etc. As you arrived to the end of the bar you purchase your salad bar and drink cups. We paid $.50 extra to have a to go cup. The price is still super reasonable and they even have a rewards set up for people who regularly get to go. Unfortunately we live too far away to go regularly. I did ask if they honored sweet tomatoes previous gift cards and they don't. That was OK because I was happy to be there anyway. We sat down in the dining area. They had booths and tables and all was still the sweet sweet design that we loved and remembered from all of the original restaurants. They even have the cute little notes on your table that say "be ripe back" or "see you next thyme" so you can place them on your table so your weight staff knows whether or not you're coming back to your table. Even the drinks were still the same. There was this lovely herbal iced tea (I'm so sorry I can't remember exactly what it was, some kind of hibiscus blend) and they still had it. They also had strawberry lemonade, lemonade, sodas, and regular iced tea. They still have their hot bar with two different kinds of focaccia cheesy bread, pastas and delicious mac and cheese, muffins, cornbread, gluten free options, 5 seasonal and changing soups (we got chili, & broccoli cheese, cream of mushroom), baked potatoes, sweet potatoes and all the fixings, a honey butter for muffins, desserts like banana pudding, fruit, cookies, chocolate lava cake, and soft serve ice cream. There is so much here. I love that. There's something for everybody's taste bud and they don't skimp on anything. Everything tasted phenomenal, fresh and clean. The service was great. We were greeted as we walked in the door and the girl attending the salads was super friendly and told us how busy they can get and how luckily we were that they weren't as busy today and we didn't have to wait in line. I've seen that this place can get really busy even before Covid so I can only imagine how nuts this place gets being the only one open. Trust me people do travel here from other states to go here. Be patient and kind to all the employees. We want this place to stay forever. They don't take reservations so be patient if you get there and have to wait. They do only accept card for payment so please make sure you bring cash for a tip. For a buffet salad bar this is way more than five stars. The staff, the quality, the taste, the cleanliness, all make this top of the line.

Yelp
I missed this place so much! So happy to see the Tucson location thriving. Food was amazing. The pozole was my favorite. A must stop for lunch!

Yelp
Legend. Wait for it. Dairy. Oh and they have Vegan options too. Look, I can't really review this place other than this AYCE Soup + Salad bar is highly coveted, especially to those in California who lost all their locations during COVID. Sweet Tomatoes/Soup Plantation is not only a great deal, it's decent tasting too. It won't win any awards, but it will always hit the spot. The Bussers are polite, and the environment is clean. I will always stop in when I'm in Arizona. Please come back to California. I dream about strawberry lemonade and those muffins.
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
I'm going to give it 5 stars because it does what it does well. If you liked it in the past, you'll like it now. The setup is the same as it was before. Start with the salad bar, drink station right after, then hot items on the left. It's like it never closed. The salad bar was clean, fresh, and presentable. Free refills on sodas is always a bonus. The hot items included 3 pastas, muffins, baked potatoes (with topping bar), cheese bread, and a half dozen soups. For dessert they have ice cream (probably frozen yogurt?), butterscotch pudding, banana pudding, chocolate mouse, fruit, etc. The ice cream bar has toppings as well. The service was great. Lots of attention and very friendly staff. Something to remember: They don't take cash so if you're a tipper bring a few singles with you. I asked the staff to make change for me ($20) which she did and I tipped. I arrived at around 11:40 AM and the place was half full. By noon it was about 75% full, but it's so big there were still plenty of seats. I think the days of the long wait lines are over. One bad point: parking. The lot fills up and I had to park further west in front of another store. There's still plenty but you might need a minute to hunt for it. Is it the world's best food? No. Is it better than a regular buffet? Yes. There's something about the mix of items they have which makes this place stand out. Will return.
google avatar

Yelp
We drove to Tucson to eat at Sweet Tomatoes. How I missed this place. The staff to us, that it is an independent owner not a chain. They been open for a year now. For the salad bar was exactly the same, the unlimited choices of toppings. There are vegeterian soups, chili and the famous chicken noodle soup. I've noticed the use dark meat instead of white meat. The corn bread, and muffins are warm right out from the oven. There is a person, who cooks the pasta and refills the bowls. The buffet and lobby has the same feel. For all of us it brings back memories.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
I have to say, as a vegan I am pretty disappointed in this place. I haven't been back since I went vegan and I definitely will not be back again. For starters, the only option for the salad is either spinach or iceberg lettuce. There was no spring mix, or other options. The toppings were numerous, lots of options but the salad dressings were seriously lacking. I saw two options out of a sea of non-vegan options. Both were pretty unique, one was a Greek vinaigrette and the other was a raspberry vinaigrette. The website also lists the plain croutons as vegan, and the seasoned croutons as non-vegan. When I got to that option, neither were listed at all. I didn't know which one was vegan, and I didn't know which one was seasoned. There were other toppings that I also saw that weren't listed as all, not even a name for what they were. It's like they gave up in the end. I checked out the hot food section, and there was a miso broth soup. I did not try it. I looked at everything else, I did not see vegan listed on anything else. Including a pasta that the website list is vegan, so I was very confused by that. I did not see any vegan desserts, it was pretty time-consuming looking for the vegan label. It blends in and the vegetarian labeled makes it even more confusing to differentiate between the two. I really wanted this to be a homecoming, I loved this place when I was not a vegan and I figured it would be a great place for vegan but sadly it's not true. For the price, and the limited options I would not recommend this place if you are a vegan. As to the staff, they were very friendly and helpful and attentive.
google avatar

Abigal E.

Yelp
10/10 Always loved sweet tomatoes when I was younger, for an all you can eat it's not that expensive like others! The salad and pasta bar is very good. For dessert they have good options like ice cream and toppings, along with cookies and brownies. Overall very good and would visit again.
google avatar

Jaime T.

Yelp
Parking: Easy and free -- no issues at all. I'm not going to claim this place serves the best clam chowder or chicken noodle soup you'll ever have, but it's solid and satisfying. The salad bar offers a good variety -- both prepared salads like Caesar, broccoli, and spinach, and a build-your-own option with fresh toppings. One thing I noticed: boiled eggs weren't available as a topping. I'm not sure if they were ever offered here, but Souplantation used to include them, so I missed that touch. The soups were genuinely tasty. I was pleasantly surprised by the clam chowder -- creamy with soft potatoes and actual chunks of clam. The mushroom soup had been creatively repurposed into a pasta dish, which I really enjoyed alongside the mac and cheese. The blueberry muffins with butter were a nostalgic hit -- soft, sweet, and comforting. If you miss Souplantation or just want to get more fiber into your diet, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. All in all, I'll be back!

Yelp
Every single item our family tasted was good. The staff was very attentive and all seemed genuinely happy to be working there. Nice and clean restaurant too.

Yelp
I recently had the chance to time-travel back to 2020, which was the last time that I was at a Sweet Tomatoes restaurant. I was THRILLED to be able to return to one of my all-time favorite restaurants when we made a quick trip to Tucson. The parking lot is a mess because there is a building under construction just steps away from Sweet Tomatoes. We went on a Saturday for lunch. There were a few people going in the door in front of us, but the line kept moving. There was a greeter at the front door who answered questions for the newbies (or those who have forgotten what Sweet Tomatoes is all about). The salad bar was clean and continually re-stocked. The vegetarian salads were marked as such, which I appreciated. After you pay, there is another staff member there to show you to an empty table. The restaurant was packed when we were there, but she took us to a booth right near the action (where I like to be!). The beverage station continually had a line. I think they need to add a 2nd beverage station. The staff member who was clearing plates from the tables offered to get drink refills as well. Be sure to bring some cash to tip that person. They work really hard and are generally very friendly and helpful. The pizza, corn bread, and soups were delicious. My favorite part of the meal was the chocolate muffin, which I covered in chocolate and caramel sauce and topped with sprinkles. It was my non-dairy sundae. They do offer frozen yogurt as well, which seemed to be very popular. The hot apple crisp dessert rocked my world as well. I can't wait to return to Sweet Tomatoes on my next trip to Tucson! It was just as good as I remembered.

Yelp
So excited to be at the reopened Sweet Tomatoes!! I actually visited back in July 2024 (all the way from L.A.!) and am only doing my review now! Sorry~ Was so excited to come here, I made it a point to stay in Tucson during my family road trip to TX just so that we could eat here. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about an hour, but turned out to be closer to 15 minutes since many people didn't want to wait and left. Prices for dinner was reasonable - $13.75 for adults, $8.99 for kids 10-12. The staff has you wait outside until a table is ready, then they allow your party to go inside and start filling your tray with all the goods. They have all the usual Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes offerings, and I was so excited to try everything that I used to get: the salads, the breads, the soups, the soft serve...they even have ice cream cones for your soft serve!!! They still use the trays from before (I'm assuming since they look like they were older than 3 months - how long the restaurant was open when I visited). Food was good, but not as good as I remember. The self serve a la carte items are fine - I mean carrots and celery are what they are. But in regards to the pre-made items, they were ok. Something about the food was different. I felt the Asian chicken salad wasn't as tasty as it used to be - perhaps they have a different dressing recipe? Soups were ok, but not as flavorful, they could use more seasonings. Overall the food was ok, the quality just wasn't as great as I remember, and didn't wow me like it used to. The copy cat version, Soup N' Fresh, in Rancho Cucamonga, CA was actually better IMO, even though they offer less options than Sweet Tomatoes.

Arielle W.

Yelp
We had a party of five that came for lunch on a weekday. There was not a line to get in around 11:30 which was very nice. The salad bar was fully stocked and fresh, I missed it so much! All of the food was amazing that we had. I'm so glad that the cream of mushroom soup tastes the same. I also really enjoyed the muffins. And the baked potato bar of course, is a fan favor.
google avatar

Lyndsey E.

Yelp
Was so excited to visit Sweet Tomatoes as many others have mentioned, but it didn't live up to my experience many years ago. The biggest red flag is cleanliness, the salad bar was full of dirty plates in the clean pile and our water cups were dirty, there were flies all around the restaurant, and one look into the kitchen as their team was bussing plates and there was trash all on the floor. Overall, pretty gross. If we had noticed all of these issues right away, probably wouldn't have eaten there. Our salads were surprisingly good all things considered, but everything else was not. The chicken noodle soup was basically all broth and dark meat, the pizza was inedible, and there were way fewer hot bar options than before. The only options are a few bland breads with cheese, flavorless pastas, and mediocre soups. Overall, unless you want a salad and to risk eating off dirty plates, not worth it.

Yelp
Love sweet tomatoes!! I was nostalgic for the Phoenix location. They have very efficient service to get everyone in and out quickly. Very clean and staff is nice. Super affordable as well.
google avatar

Shannon Z.

Yelp
Eating here was so nostalgic!! I miss souplantation after COVID hit and was so happy I got to have it again here in Tucson. It's an overall great price for the buffet. The salad mixes are all delicious and there's so many options for the salad topping and dressings. The muffins were great, especially the chocolate chip muffin, so much gooey chocolate chip goodness. Favorite soup was the chicken noodle soup and creamy tomato soups but was able to try most of them!
google avatar

Kiki L.

Yelp
Like everyone says - I missed sweet tomatoes blah blah - I ate here 3-5 times a week sometimes twice a day. We drove in from Phoenix - and I got all my usual things and it was just okay. The salad was wilted and brown the other ingredients look like they were sliced up on Tuesday and now it's Friday so they are wilted.. The Greek dressing is a little different but still good. The ranch is just okay. Biggest disappointment is the cheesey bread that is now made with yellow cheddar cheese instead of white mozzarella cheese. Still hoping they open one in the valley.
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
This was everything I wanted it to be. All the nostalgic feelings came flooding back as soon as I stepped into Sweet Tomatoes; It smelled exactly like the Souplantations I used to go to in CA. They even have the same soup bowls with the little handle (that lets you hold two in each hand), and the same swirly soft serve bowls. The salad bar was just as I remembered, and the Ranch dressing tasted exactly the same. The only difference I noticed was that the bacon bits are "Bacos" (the fake soy version) instead of real bacon. However that also makes the broccoli madness salad vegetarian! The soups, breads, and desserts were all what we were craving. Highlights are always the pizza (when it's fresh), and the warm chocolate chip cookie bars. The wait staff was super attentive, and cleared our plates and trays right away. Bring cash if you want to tip them! (They don't accept cash as payment for your meal though, so they won't be able to make change.) If you're in the area, and you loved Souplantation once upon a time, you have to stop here! At $13.75 for all you can eat for dinner, it's also a great deal. Hope they open more locations!

Yelp
First time coming back since the great closing and it was as good as I remembered! Great price, really fresh salad bar and the hot food was delicious. It hit almost full capacity while we were there and the staff was still so attentive and friendly and kept everything clean. I really appreciated the attention to cleanliness at such a busy buffet
google avatar

Brooke P.

Yelp
The location is very nice and clean inside. Lots of places to eat and the service was great. The salad bar was so fresh and lots of options to really make your own custom salad. There are other options like soups, pastas and desserts. Really great price for an all you can eat buffet.
google avatar

Kristin Q.

Yelp
I love sweet tomatoes. The ambiance is nothing special because it's a buffet but the staff is always really welcoming and helpful and the food is good. My favorite thing is the salad, the soups (chicken noodle and chicken enchilada) and the desserts! Also, their corn bread and butter is some of the best I've ever had in my life.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my most favorite restaurants in Tucson, Arizona. It's always busy especially from about 11:30 - 1:00. The food is buffet style. The salad bar has different lettuces, premade salads, several toppings, dressings along with raisins cheeses, and seeds. The pasta side of the restaurant is in constant motion due to the chefs incorporating dish after dish. There are at least five different soups for both vegetarian and meat lovers. The dessert area was lacking somewhat today. I waited awhile to see if the cookies and cobbler would be dispensed again. Both however, were nearly empty even after sometime. Overall, the servers and waitstaff were attentive. I was pleased and will be back. However, I would love to see another Sweet Tomato's in Vail or toward Cochise County. I believe people being more health conscious could use another choice in southern Arizona.

Yelp
My best friend and I go for lunch once a month . I love the atmosphere they always decorate for the current holiday..very festive. Many salad choices, soups, pizza and desserts . The workers are very courteous and make sure we are happy.

Yelp
Great experience. Almost like it used to be. When we arrived around 7pm of Friday there was a line outside of about 15 people. A hostess came out a greeted us and quickly ushered the group inside. Salad bar was plentiful and fresh. Pricing was reasonable. Seems like a few of the dressings were missing from the old sweet tomatoes. The focaccia was great. Pastas were freshly made and the dessert bar was delicious. The soups seemed to be lacking. The pork posole had very little in it and I could find no pork. The strawberry lemonade was very watered down. Service was soooo good. All and all it was a good experience and we will be back when down from phoenix.

This is My favorite place, I came here as a kid ever week and they haven't changed a thing! 10/10 I came to Tucson just for this

Yelp
4.5/5 Hooray for the reemergence of Sweet Tomatoes! There was a line when we got here around 3:45 but we didn't have to wait too long. The employee keeping track of the line mentioned that this was the first location to open back up because it was the highest performing one. Makes sense! He also mentioned that they brought back the manager from before the pandemic. It's always a good sign when former management wants to go back to work for you! The selections are pretty much the same as before. Gotta love some wonton (sans chicken) salad and tuna tarragon. The only things I noticed about the premade salad selections were that the sauces were a little more watery and more sweet than I remember. I think this caused some of the premade salads to get a little soggy. I also think the beets they use in the make your own salad area are regular canned beet vs the pickled beets they used to offer before closing down. Moving onto the hot foods, I thoroughly enjoyed the soup selections. I even venture to say I like the chicken noodle soup better than the version they offered pre-pandemic! The noodles were a little thinner and had a better texture to me. The soup selections from when we went were minestrone, cream of mushroom, chili, clam chowder, French onion and chicken noodle soup. I also enjoyed the pastas, especially the mac n cheese. The baked potato was great as always with the kettle chili, green onion and shredded cheese, They also have sweet potatoes, cornbread and you can't go wrong with a delicious blueberry mini muffin. They still offer the pizza and focaccia pieces and I obviously had to get one of each. I pretty much got almost everything offered at this buffet. I was so stuffed but I regret nothing! Desserts consisted of vanilla and/or chocolate soft serve, brownies, chocolate chip cookie pieces and lava cake. The soft serve area has a counter with chocolate, caramel sauce, crushed Oreos, sprinkles and marshmallows. I liked the smooth creamy consistency of the soft serve and one of my favorite things to do is have the soft serve with the lava cake and a little caramel drizzle. Ooey gooey creamy deliciousness! One difference in desserts compared to pre-pandemic Sweet Tomatoes is that they offer the chocolate chip cookies bagged up at the cashier area and also free range at the hot foods area, vs. pre-pandemic where they were both bagged at the counter and handed out by a server that came around to each table. Service was so nice from our server. Plates and dishes were whisked away with frequency. The ambiance is just the same as before too. It's almost as if they never left! Details (As of 5-2024) - Kids 4 and under eat free! - Fountain drinks extra charge - Pay cashless at register - Saturday and Sunday adults price $13.75 all day - M-F adult lunch $12.75 - M-F adult dinner $13.75

Yelp
Haven't been to a ST in over 15 years! Wow did it not disappoint! Came for lunch and the place was packed. But so clean. Everything was stocked and replaced continuously. Will definitely drive down from Phoenix just to come by again. Get the Mac and cheese even if you're an adult!!!!

Yelp
Finally sweet tomatoes is back My grandma and I used to go every week and it is EXACTLY the same like it never closed! I honestly thought the prices would be higher, but it's only $16ish per person (which gets you one meal at most other places, not all you can eat) Let me tell you. I get my moneys worth how can you be upset at a place where you literally pick anything you want? There's salad, soup, pasta, pizza, muffins, cookies, baked potato's, ice cream and toppings... The staff were super friendly, toppings were full, everything was clean and tables were cleared quickly when we finished plates. It was definitely full but we didn't have a wait in the line or wait for a table. I love you sweet tomatoes, please don't ever leave me again.

Yelp
We use to eat at Sweet Tomatoes alllllllmost every Friday, until they closed down in 2020. Announcements came in March of 2023 that we were getting our precious salad bar back!!! We waited one full year as we watched them reconstruct the old building, bringing it back to life after almost 4 long years! April 1, 2024- OPENING DAY!!!!!! (Although we were lucky enough to go during soft opening, so our first day enjoying the delicious taste of heaven was March 23rd) Everything was so bright and clean. The salad bar, booths, tables, soda machine, soups, baked potatoes, pastas, ice cream, all in its same places... ... I personally think everything tastes exactly the same & excellent EXCEPT the ice cream. It's horrible, thick and grainy but who cares, there is plenty of other dessert things! We have all gone numerous times since they reopened almost 2 months ago. Sometimes the line is long, but the wait has never been longer than 30 minutes... sometimes we walk right in. Staff is excellent- we've had many different servers, all fabulous! We had a Karen once, awesome! We also had a Chris a few times, totally rocked it! IMPORTANT!!! They are CREDIT CARD ONLY so PLEASE BRING CASH for your server!!!! Photos aren't in order. We took many prior to the restaurant opening- then after.

Wtf Is This ?.

Yelp
Back like they never left. Sweet Tomatoes is on a mission, and it's clear that they are dedicated to never leaving again. Everything was perfect: food, service, and atmosphere. Welcome back, my favorite buffet.

Yelp
Food - 5 Service - 4 Value - 5 We used to have these in our area, but they all closed so when we see a city with a Sweet Tomatoes that we are visiting we will try and stop by for a bite -- or a lot of bites! This location was packed even at 2 PM on Friday, and I can see why as their salad is fresh and they kept their soups and hot foods fresh as well. The soft serve ice cream is also a treat and can't be beat.

Yelp
A great buffet style place for lunch and/or for dinner. Fast lines, friendly staff to answer questions about the food. A constant stream of fresh food added often. Clean tables, eating utensils and bathroom. A fair price for a huge selection of food. I always leave a tip for the hard working staff, bussing the tables. They deserve it.

Yelp
Sweet Tomatoes is a place of nostalgia for me. The options are great. What can go wrong with a place where you can create your own salad, sample a bunch of soups, and have ice cream? Really, ingredients are fine. Soups are mediocre, and so is everything else. But here's the thing, I would go back from time to time for the food because of the nostalgia. It's also super cool that Tucson has the only Sweet Tomatoes in the country. If you're looking for a place to build your own salads and sample different soups, this is the place to go. Service is great, and seating is plentiful. The Sweet Tomatoes vibe is still there. The food itself is 3 to 3.5 stars at best, but I'll bump it for the service and ambiance as well.

Yelp
Well, let me just say, Sweet Tomatoes in Tucson is an absolute treasure! My wife and I were regulars at the Gilbert, AZ location before Covid put that place in the grave, and we were devastated. But then, like a culinary miracle, Tucson opened its doors, and we were back to living our best salad and soup-filled life. We made the trip from the Phoenix area to celebrate our 12th anniversary, and as fun as Bissbee, Tombstone, and the Kartchner Caverns were, the real reason I was down south (at least for me) was Sweet Tomatoes! First off, the salad bar is legendary. You've got everything you could ever want: fresh veggies, toppings galore, dressings that could make you reconsider your life choices (in the best way). You could seriously get lost in there, building the ultimate salad like a mad scientist, adding more toppings than you can fit, and still think, "Yeah, I could probably use more cheese." But the real magic happens when you get to the soups. The cream of mushroom soup? It's otherworldly. I'm convinced this soup has been crafted by ancient soup artisans who passed down their secrets for generations. It's thick, creamy, and as comforting as a cozy blanket on a cold day. If this soup were a person, I'd invite it to my birthday party and then propose to it afterward. It's THAT good. Now, let's talk about the gluten-free coconut muffins. These muffins are what dreams are made of. Honestly, I think these are made by the hands of gods...like some sort of divine muffin-making being descended from the heavens and blessed them with magical powers. They're light, fluffy, and so delicious you'll consider getting a second (or third) just to make sure you didn't imagine how good they were the first time. My wife may or may not be guilty of walking out with one or two, but I'll never snitch. ;) The staff here is awesome, too. Super friendly, quick, and always making sure your plate is loaded with the good stuff. The management staff was actively bussing tables, mopping, and cleaning the bathrooms. True leaders. So, if you were a fan of Sweet Tomatoes, the Tucson, AZ location is your new home base for now. I heard they will be expanding again. If you've never been? Well, I don't know what you're doing with your life, but you need to fix that ASAP. P.S. The only "cons" are that they switched out the real bacon with imitation bacon bits. Please change that back; nobody likes soy boogers. Also, their whole parking situation is horrible. The Starbucks next door has the monopoly on "15-minute parking" for some reason. 20 spots? Really?!

Yelp
Just like I remembered and exactly what I needed. We came around 2PM on a Saturday - there was a bit of a line but it only took around 15 minutes to get through. The staff did a great job at make sure everyone got through the line and salad bar and found seating in an orderly manner. Food wise, pretty much exactly the same! All my favorite items were still there - chicken noodle soup, clam chowder, soft serve ice cream, baked potato (and sweet potato!), corn bread. Sadly the soda fountain was down when I went, but the food was so yummy that I forgot about it a couple minutes in to dining. I wouldn't come here expecting to dine on a culinary masterpiece, but considering the price, nostalgia, and seamlessness of the dining experience, you'll never catch me saying anything bad about this place. I love you Sweet Tomatoes! Please bring back more locations
