Sweet creek was close to where we were so we stopped by to get lunch and to check out the market.
Homemade candles, soaps, household cleaners, and facial products made by a local resident were prominently displayed, as were a number of fruit jellies. There's also a small restaurant that offers sandwiches and salads along heartier items such as robs and pulled pork sandwiches, loaded baked potatoes, and smoked chicken plates. They also have a number of sweets including homemade hard and soft ice creams, peach cobbler, cookies, and pies
We tried the pecan smoked barbecue sandwich, the chicken salad croissant, and the hogwild jumbo baked potato. The baked potato cones topped with pulled pork, chili, cheese, butter, green onions, roasted pecans, and sour cream.
Our order was to go so I requested that the chili be put in a container. Unfortunately I didn't receive the chili, sour cream, butter, or roasted pecans. However, the concept was a good one and the baked potato with just the pulled pork, cheese, and green onions topped with barbecue sauce was good.
The pork sandwich had the same delicious pork that was on the baked potato. The bread couldn't hold up to the juiciness of the meat though and it was quite soggy. The chicken salad and the broccoli salad side lacked flavor.
In addition to the food, we picked up a number of candles with scents such as vanilla pound cake, hot cornbread, peach cobbler, sangria sunrise, and orange clove. We also picked up a variety of jams and spreads inckuding pear butter with pineapple, peach fig jam, orange marmalade, mango butter, FROG (fig, raspberry, orange, ginger) jam. These will be perfect for gifts.
My husband was turned off by all the flies in the dessert case but I hope to drop back by this place on another visit to try the ice cream.
