Sweetgrass Restaurant & Porch

It's in a hotel. The food was just okay but nothing astounding. We ate here for a sorority event. The fried green tomatoes were a bit greasy and the shrimp and grits were mediocre. It served the purpose. The service was fine.

This is a great place to eat. We were a little skeptical because of past experiences with Hotel Restaurants (being over priced, with small portions) this is NOT the case. Very reasonably priced and just the right amount on servings. Waitress was so friendly !!! The food was absolutely delicious!! Worth the stop !! Ohh and the Fried Green Tomatoes on point !!!!

I am a local foodie that eats out at least three times a week. I hadn’t been to this restaurant in years possibly because it is not standalone but inside of the Crowne plaza hotel in Tanger Outlet Area. The food is amazing. Every single time I’ve come here I have loved what I have gotten. From my experience many hotel restaurants are not very good. This one definitely is . Today I had shrimp and grits, and I loved it! The gravy was creamy. There was an adequate amount of shrimp. It was topped with a light brown sausage type gravy, a little bit of cheese and bacon. OMG I don’t know who is in the kitchen but I hope someone tells them - it was amazing! One big thing. Keep track of the time. It is only open from 11- 1pm during lunch and then opens back up at five. I got in there so close to 12 that I felt bad holding them up and I got the rest of my food to go even though they were very nice about it.

Dated facility in need of repair and updates. Vinyl on chairs should not be coming off on the person seated!

This restaurant really impressed me! The menu had a great variety, and everything we ordered was fresh and full of flavor. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy but lively—perfect for a casual night out. From appetizers to dessert, everything hit the spot. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

In spite of the great reviews my 1st time visit was terrible. Arrived around 12:20 pm. Spoke with the desk clerk who gave great review of the restaurant so was expecting a good meal. We were a table of 4. Two of us arrived first and seated ourselves. There were about 4 other tables seated when we arrived. No one ever acknowledged us. When my friend #3 arrived, still no one acknowledged us. We began to discuss finding somewhere else to eat. When our 4th friend arrived we decided to leave at approximately 12: 50. I did go over to the cashier and asked if they were closing and that we sat there and was never acknowledged. She apologized, stated she was busy. "Really!" The restaurant is Not that big!!! I can understand shortage of help, but at least acknowledged your customers!! First impressions.........4 people......Not good at all!! These 4 will tell at least 4 more people of the terrible experience....those 4 will tell 4 plus more... and on and on.....

Food was amazing... Bar staff was bar far the best I've ever had... Didn't get her name but her Caribbean accent was a delight... the food she recommended was to notch... You have hired the right person for the job of serving the public... More like "Her" please.... I'll be back for more of the menu....

The chicken was good. The sweet tea was heavenly. The customer service was great! I loved the Brussels. However, that salmon was disgusting. I threw it in the trash. It had an inquiring flavor that I’ve never tasted when I eat salmon fillets. The piece I got didn’t even have sauce on it so I don’t know how the sauce taste. But the actual salmon….Ugh. It was not pleasant.

We sat at the bar and had the best martinis made by Minnette. She was very friendly and personable

It's took us about a half an hour to find the place. It sounded really interesting but then I got there and It's in a hotel lobby yuck!

Wonderful food , great service! Very, very good. Had the Glazed Salmon , best I've had !

We enjoyed the food and service at Sweetgrass Restaurant & Porch. The menu had something for everyone and what I enjoyed most was the terrific flavors and quality of the food they offer. What I found was delicious and a must try: - She-Crab soup is a no brainer. I've had several variations of this low country treat and this one here at Sweetgrass was excellent in my opinion. - The pork chop was perfectly cooked, juicy and full of flavor. - I loved the Swiss chard with bacon and the succotash and grilled asparagus were also very good. - Mahi Mahi was also superb. - Try their Creme Brûlée Overall, prices are reasonable and a great place to eat at while in the area. Friendly service simply made our experiences here eve that much better.

I saw the shotty reviews, but I was staying at Crowne so I gave it a try. I ordered the salmon, sweet potato fries, and roasted brussel sprouts. My food was delicious! From the presentation, to the portion, to the taste, it was great! The only down side was the server/bartender. I felt like I was being ignored and intentionally overlooked, thankfully my food was to go.

Never go to the Sweetgrass Restaurant at the Crown plaza in North Charleston worst place ever. My food was over cooked and unseasoned the service was horrible . . The waitress forgot half of our tables orders . And she never came back . And the restaurant wasn't busy . Never Eat Here !!

The food is about what you would expect from a hotel restaurant. Not bad. Not wonderful. Our waitress was friendly when they finally knew we were there. Even though they are open all day, there was no one watching the front of the restaurant and the front desk simply pointed us over to the dining area and ignored us afterward. We got our own menus, picked a table and I went looking for someone in the kitchen. If I am getting together with friends in that part of town again, I'll skip this place.

This restaurant is located in the Crown Plaza in North Charleston. It has a tapas style menu with a variety of small plates. We ordered the crab cakes, fried catfish Reuben, a berry salad and the tuna over kimchee. Most items were between 8-12 dollars. Everything was tasty. The pickles and kimchee were homemade. They suggest ordering 2-4 per person. We split four small plates between two people and had leftovers. Nice little unexpected cafe tucked away.

My coworker and I came here for lunch. Despite the spotty reviews we decided to give them a try. We should have went elsewhere as this was not a very impressive meal. The service is not bad but from order to arrival of our food was way too long. We were the only ones in the restaurant which should have been a sign for us to go somewhere else. After spending several minutes looking a the most boring menu I settled on the beef sliders. Nothing else looked appetizing to me. After what seemed like an eternity my sliders and my buddies Shrimp and Grits arrived. Both dishes looked appealing but were nothing worth coming to this place to get. I got to try his Shrimp and Grits which was cheesy bacon and they were way to think and salty even for me. My burgers were cooked OK but were nothing special. They were mini frozen patties with no spice. The bun and picked cucumber were the best thing about the burger. The best thing we had was the Tea which was very good.

Was looking forward to nice dinner at sweet grass. While waiting for hostess to come out 10 minutes. Hostess yells from across restaurant "grab your menu and grab your seat!" Really? I'll pass. Probably not worth eating at if the service was that bad. Skip it!

Not worth the money. This place try's to be a high end restaurant, but it not. The place is really dusty and the light fixtures aren't that great. This place really gives off a dead and boring vibe. The service is really slow and the food is decent but not worth it. Plus flys.
