Boston Restaurant Headline Predictions for 2019 | Eater Boston

"A national fast-casual salad chain referenced as proliferating citywide and frequently grouped with other brands as contributing to market saturation; its expansion is emblematic of a broader worry that similar healthy fast-casual concepts are displacing independent operators." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Google
I have ordered uber eats from this store several times. Salad is not fresh, these yellow leaves have sit in fridge for who knows how long… every time missing or mess up something. Avoid it folks! Hope I’m not food poisoned tmr

Google
I am a regular customer at this Sweetgreen, and I can honestly say the experience is consistently excellent. The food is always fresh, but the team here is what keeps me coming back. A special shoutout to Savannah—she is consistently polite, helpful, and incredibly nice. She genuinely cares about the customers and makes every visit a pleasant one. The entire staff is wonderful, professional, and efficient even when it's busy. It’s easily my favorite spot for a healthy meal. Highly recommend!

Google
I have loved sweetgreen and have been going there for a couple years now but i had to share that I got horrendous food poisoning from them yesterday. I noticed there was a yellow piece of lettuce in my salad, so maybe that did it. i was vomiting all night with the chills and body aches. just putting this out for public info, if i was pregnant/elderly/immunocompromised, i would want to know.

Google
I have been wanting to try salads at Sweet green. I ordered Super Green Goddess Salad. The salad was just ok. I could have made it myself.

Ian

Google
Staff from the hood still got time to chit chat right in front of us when there are 30+ Eats tickets waiting to be fulfilled. I guess when you hire a team of durags, even putting together salads can feel like rocket science. Some completed bowls are just sitting there. Call out the names so you can let the delivery drivers be on their way. There is no system whatsoever at this location and zero management. You can't hire incompetent part timers then choose to not give them direction. Are we really in Greenwich??? Poor reviews began months and months ago with the "owner" responding to each Google review. Nothing has changed. Guess the owner is AI.

Ross

Google
This is, unfortunately, a very poor Sweetgreen location. Ordering in-person takes far too long, and online orders are regularly ready 15-20 minutes after the scheduled pickup time. Ingredients are frequently missing from orders as well.

Katherine D

Google
I love it, the ingredients are fresh and delicious, also different good options. Portions are huge, the only thing I would like to be able to build a bowl which is not that expensive, like less portions for 14 at least or less.

Google
I really wanted to give this location a higher score because of how friendly the staff was but I just couldn't justify when they made two mistakes. I ordered the kale caesar with the blackened chicken and they gave me the roasted... fine I get it that was with the order. But then towards the end, before I could even stop him from putting it on, tragedy struck. Instead of the caesar for the kale caesar he put in buffalo sauce and the range (probably from the buffalo chicken salad?). I was horrified. And then ultimately disgusted when I took a bite of the Frankenstein concoction that came out of the salad bar. Yes, yes I could have told him and then he would have remade my order, but then the whole salad would have gone in the bin. Not sure if I could live with that on my conscience. Either way, will try to give these guys another shot, since they really are so friendly and the location is so nice!

Yelp
So happy we have a Sweetgreen in Greenwich! It used to be my go to in the city - so incredibly easy to have a healthy filling meal here.

Yelp
This place used to be great and I used to go there almost daily but given the service and quality gradually started going down hill. Not sure what's worse, the tasteless salads or the staff attitude. The person preparing my salad made me feel like he was giving me free food, even though I asked politely to add this and that followed by please, he still gave me a terrible attitude. Asked for chicken and he literally filled the serving scoop 1/2 way and when I asked if that was the normal portion, his response was nothing but a head nod. I asked for double chicken and the second serving was less than the first one. Still left him a 20% of which he didn't deserve any of it ! To upper management, hire staff with peoples skills and teach them how to serve. Can't succeed in the hospitality business with bad attitude !

Yelp
To-go order - fresh Shroomami salad with three choices of dressing: pesto vinaigrette, spicy cashew and miso sesame ginger. Loved how my to-go order was packed with volume and care. This is my go-to vegan-friendly, tasty salad.
google avatar

Yelp
This is an overrated bougie salad spot. I paid $19 for a salad that was at the most basic. I had the caramelelized garlic steak, which was flavorful and the only tasty thing in my salad. There were only two employees, and ordering was slow. It's really just an underwhelming experience. It was my first and last time dining here.

Yelp
Updated Hours: Restaurant now closes at 8:00pm. Bummer! They claim they don't get enough business after 8. However, I think the sweet spot is 9 pm. I went there at 8:07 and they were closed. Unfortunately for them, I waited in the car and 7 people tried to go in after me.
google avatar

Justin D.

Yelp
Very clean establishment! Staff are super friendly and helpful! And the food hits the spot! Definitely worth a quick meal.
google avatar

Joseph K.

Yelp
first they forgot the dressing, next i cracked a tooth after a rock was in my salad. i only started to SG again because pasta vera closed. BEWARE OF ROCKS!
google avatar

Kate F.

Yelp
Super nice staff and clean location. I usually get the crispy rice bowl with salmon and it's always tasty. The consistency is really awesome. When I remember to I schedule my pick up and it's ready for me when I get there.

T B.

Yelp
Great option if you're trying to eat clean and healthy! The staff are also very nice and helpful with any questions. I have food allergies, and they are very knowledgeable and took extra care with the order.

Yelp
Today was my first time in a sweetgreen. The young man who took care of me was very nice And I have no complaints about him. I got a protein bowl. I found the chicken to be in pretty large chunks and wished I had a knife to cut it. They only have forks out. I like the clean minimal aesthetic of the place and thought the food was fresh and a good value. Next time I'm going to try a salad.

Аня М.

Yelp
The salads looked terrible. Everything was burnt, they were not as in the photo from their menu.

Sérgio L.

Yelp
It seems unbelievable, but every time I come here, I have to wait at least 15 minutes. I'm a food delivery driver, and I waited 20 minutes for a salad to be ready. Imagine that. Everything is ready. All they need to do is put it in a cardboard bowl and serve it as if serving a prisoner. Even with all this simplicity, this place manages to be 20 minutes late. Just kidding. Of course not. They simply put delivery drivers last or don't have any system to serve on time, or even with an acceptable delay of 5 minutes. So, let me make it clear here to the noble consumers of Greenwich. The amount of time I invested in this wonderful delivery was 5 minutes to get to the place, 20 minutes of waiting, and then another 10 minutes to arrive at the delivery spot. Add another 5 minutes to park, go upstairs, and hand it to the customer. For these 40 minutes, I was paid $2.00 by the wonderful app, plus a miserable tip of $2.46, making the grand total of $4.46 in the capital city. As for this store, I'll keep coming back and hurting myself, and I'll make as many posts as necessary until this teenage owner understands how things work. Regarding the customer who gave a $2.46 tip, all I can say is that this is my last week in Greenwich. I must say, this town is strange. A bunch of fancy stores and hundreds of investment firms with the lowest tips in the region, from Westport to Rye. To finish, I want to say that the customer is not obligated to tip, but tips represent 70 to 80% of our income, and without them, it's definitely not possible to work in this business. Knowing how much we are paid by the app, the decision lies with your conscience. Personally, I'd make my salad at home if I couldn't give a reasonable tip. As for the store, I don't know what to say. I've been doing this job for 5 years, and it's never been any different.

Nellie R.

Yelp
I've been ordering from sweet green for years and this is my first time in person ordering. The general manger Ben had helped us out with our food and was super sweet! definitely recommended eating her. There is lots of seating and matches the sweet green vibe.

Ben A.

Yelp
The best! Great hospitality and service , love the team and vibe. Always fresh food !!

Chelsea M.

Yelp
Excellent costumer service. Clean and inviting environment. High quality salad every time. Highly recommend.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered a salad on their app at 12:00 and it said it was ready at 12:35. Why did I not leave with a salad until 1:10. Someone had to make it on the line because the people downstairs could not get it together. I complained on the app and they decided me waiting in the store for 35 minutes was worth a $7 credit. My app is deleted and I will never order from there again

Mary Cecilia K.

Yelp
Thank you, sweetgreen!! GRASS-FED BEEF, ORGANIC VEGGIES, DELICIOUS toppings!! Was out and about running errands, no food at home, no time to shop but fortunately we have the Greenwich sweetgreen!!! Ordering is easy and the food is so fresh. They always get my order correct and ready quickly. They obviously have an excellent hiring process because their employees are always so pleasant and eager to do their best! Kudos and many thanks to the manager Todd! You have a wonderful team!!
google avatar

Madeline K.

Yelp
Even though it's a chain food is great, fresh and tasty. Its also on the avenue where expensive places to eat take over this is a cheaper option but probably better than some of the restaurants on the ave.

Christopher W.

Yelp
Consistently great food and service! Looking forward to coming back. Fast service most times.

Caitlin M.

Yelp
The focaccia bread that I paid for as a side was moldy!!! I was nervous to eat the rest of my food after that and the avocado and rice on my salad looked less than stellar. I will not be eating here or ordering from this location again.

Fale B.

Yelp
Best service I've had in years, Andrew is the man. I come to sweetgreen just to see him. great food as well

Yelp
I'm done with Sweetgreen. I used to go to the ones in the city but after they started being really stingy with the portions, I kept my money to myself. I was in Greenwich visiting a friend at the hospital. I stopped in to get us some food. I made my own salad, and watched as the young lady put the smallest portions in my bowl. Chicken is $3.00 and she had the audacity to give me a half a spoon and shake off the chicken that was in the spoon. My total was $16.00. I could not justify paying that much money for a bowl that was just spinach, a few bits of diced apple, a tiny portion of rice, beans and broccoli. Like how do you look at someone as you make their salad and rip them off? Fortunately I spoke up and a man took my bowl and gave me REAL portions. He apologized and I appreciated that he did the right thing for me. The other bad part is how a woman employee was talking to a new hire. She was speaking so loud and talking to him like he was an infant. She was patronizing and it was embarrassing, especially since she did this in front of customers. You don't have to talk to people like idiots when training then on the register. It's making salads not open heart surgery. Speaking in a condescending manner doesn't make you superior or look smarter, it makes you look like a crummy person that has zero people skills. I won't be back, to any Sweetgreen, ever. Do yourself a favor, go to trader Joe's, get a bag of arugula or organic spinach for 2.99, a bag of avocados for 3.99, nutritional yeast for 3.99, scallions for.79 cents...you get the point ...make your own bomb salad for a fraction of the cost, lots of portions and none of the attitude.
google avatar

Albert R.

Yelp
Picked up a to go order quickly and when I asked for extra sauce I was kindly given the extra! Rice was a bit crunchy that's why four stars but the rest was tasty. Thank you

Michal K.

Yelp
When paying with a card their payment options are targeted for a customer to leave a tip and it's very difficult to figure out how not to leave a tip. Don't get me wrong I'm all for leaving a tip but this place is not a restaurant it's a buffet style place moreover I'm taking the food to go!!!!
google avatar

Novella N.

Yelp
So happy to have a Sweetgreen outside of the city to go to! They haven't started indoor dining but luckily it was a nice day so we ate outside anyway! I created my own salad with mesclun, cucumber, sweet potato, tofu, and other yummy veggies. Note: order the spicy cashew dressing!!
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
Orders arrive about 40% of the time. There is NO way to reach the store or any customer service. So if you order a salad, be aware that you will likely get a better experience by simply throwing the money away.
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
I've ordered from this place twice. Both times they "forgot" to put the chicken on my salad, which is basically the whole point of the salad. Terrible portion size beyond that. Feel completely ripped off. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Heidi H.

Yelp
I am done with Sweetgreen! I have been to both Greenwich and Darien locations multiple times. Today was the last time! I stopped ordering online as they kept forgetting to add chicken, avocado and even dressing!! Sweetgreen is a great concept and super fresh ingredients and locations BUT the employees are not and the quality of their salads are most of the time not worth the time spent going there or money. Most of the employees are arrogant and seem miserable in their job. Most of the time they are out of avocado and other ingredients as well. Today the employee added the ingredients with her fingers! I asked if she could use the utensils to get the accurate amount but she just said no, they were out of utensils as well?!. When she added the chicken, she added a lot of the liquid as well so I ended up with a wet salad with hardly any ingredients (and to no surprise they were out of both avocado and chopped romaine). Tried the salad when I got home and ended up throwing it in the trash! I should have saved the 20 min drive and made my own!

Yelp
As a vegetarian I have to say: Welcome to the neighborhood Sweetgreen! Typically Sweetgreen is available in NYC everywhere but this location is the first one in CT. I love that Sweetgreen has a variety of delicious and healthy vegetarian options and the salads and bowls are easily customizable. My favorite bowl is the miso bowl with tofu, mushrooms, beets, cucumbers, wild rice and so many other yummy fresh, whole ingredients. Others have mentioned that the interior of the restaurant isn't warm or friendly - all true, but Im the kinda gal who isn't necessarily looking for a conversation. Sometimes I just like to grab my food and go. I'm usually here during lunch time and the place is crowded so I appreciate the clean, spacious interior where I don't have to worry about bumping into others or waiting in long (too close for comfort) lines. If you're looking for a healthy meal Sweetgreen is it!
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
First time trying Sweetgreen. I was debating on going to this one because of reviews but decided it was worth a shot. I loved it!!! Worker was kind and prepared a beautiful delicious bowl for me. I ate outside on a bench and the day was amazing. I loved the taste and will definitely come here in the future I enjoyed it!!

Elisabeth B.

Yelp
I ordered takeout through the Sweet Green app and this sad display of less than half a salad is what arrived (missing peaches, broccoli, onions and chickpeas). I thought this was a joke but not shocked given how understaffed the Greenwich store is. I am officially done with Sweet Green after eating it religiously for years. My recommendation is that if you have to go here, order in person (never, ever on the app) so that you can ensure that you receive the right ingredients and a decent portion. No one deserves an overpriced lettuce leaf for dinner! Otherwise I highly recommend Chopt!

MK C.

Yelp
Sort of a ridiculous presentation and a great lack of a full bowl of a proper salad! This is a giant slight by sweet green.

Jordana B.

Yelp
They are usually pretty friendly at this location, but I just had this woman named Dana make my salad and she is the most atrocious employee I've ever experienced. She has terrible customer service and is extremely rude and condescending. She should not be allowed to work in a customer service industry with her attitude problem. Fire her!
google avatar

Taylor W.

Yelp
This location has messed up my order many times now after ordering from their app. The app crashes and it is physically impossible to reach anyone once they mess up. Beyond annoyed and will never order from them again. I would NOT order online from them.
google avatar

K C.

Yelp
Haven't eaten there but definitely will. Had lunch delivered and it was outstanding! Fresh ingredients, hot food delivered hot and everything on time with great communication from driver. The sweet potatoes were cooked and seasoned to perfection and the goddess dressing is absolutely worth buying an extra container of - delicious! Great menu. Cant wait to eat their yummy entrees again soon!
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
Like every fast growing chain they are start to lose their mojo on quality and portion standardization. There is a true lack of consistency that is frustrating for the frequent user (I've ordered 25 salads in the last 6 weeks). Just for fun, and because I'm moderately psycho, I took the chicken out of the last salad I received which was half full (see photo). Less than 1.5 ounces. Kinda crazy for a $16 salad. I would urge them to focus on the details as this is a common feeling or they will be like every other QSR brand which is exactly what they are trying to avoid ironically.
google avatar

MR. R.

Yelp
Don't ever order online if you want to receive your food at a reasonable time. Salads are great but they could learn a lesson from Starbuck as far as online order logistics! What a nightmare!!!

Julia N.

Yelp
Shout to Sherri the sweetest employee! I have always loved sweetgreen but Sherri was such an unexpected delight to our night

Alex B.

Yelp
Not what I was expecting - no warmth or welcome. Store inside looks like you should buy an IPhone or Droid. Doesn't feel like a restaurant. Ok that's fine. Then I ordered the beautiful looking bowl as you can see below. Also below is what I actually got. Basically no ingredients either - even after some digging. Very underwhelming.
google avatar

Brianna S.

Yelp
I order a salad everyday to work, this was the best so far but that 5.99 delivery fee is just too much ok. My delivery guy was awesome though so he deserved that and the $10 I gave him.

Frances H.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my "create your own" salad at Sweetgreen Greenwich! Amazing service, fresh ingredients, a little expensive but it was worth it! The salad was not small at all, It was so good? I ate everything':)

Haze N.

Yelp
Really slow when you order to pick up, avoid it during lunch time. I ordered the Hot Honey quinoa and I got a really pathetic bowl. Way to expensive for what I got

N P.

Yelp
The order was 35 minutes late. I got a parking ticket and my team missed lunch. My office wont be ordering from here again.

Jenny D.

Yelp
Worst salad possibly ever. First of all the size was half a handful of salad not even 1/3 of the container full of salad and it was a soupy mess of dressing and so ridiculously salty. It was so bad I had to just throw it out. This was a take out order I unfortunately didn't open until I got home 10 mins later so not a delivery issue. Never ordering from this location again. If I could give it zero stars I would. Very disappointed.

Eric R.

Yelp
Shockingly slow service. I've ordered online and in store and both times I've been waiting in the store over 40 minutes to get my salad. Management should not have 1 person working during peak hours

Alex M.

Yelp
Salads are good; but do not order through the app. There is no direct number to the restaurant if you need to make a change to your order. The number listed has an automated recording and does not offer the option to edit your order. The last time I ordered from them, they messed it up and added the wrong salad. The number listed also allows you to text with "live people". I waited an hour for no response for help. There are better places in Greenwich to get a salad.

Audrey C.

Yelp
Ordered a mobile order through the app and it was only 1/3 of the bowl full. I've done this a few times with this location and find that they are extremely stingy with the salad and toppings when you order pick up. I will no longer be using this service.

Walnut P.

Yelp
5 stars. Say no more. How bout that pesto chicken parm hot sauce. Let's go. Place was packed with business. Food was fresh.

Dan C.

Yelp
Overpriced and mediocre. You're probably not going to get out of here for less than $15. I don't consider myself a cheap person but if I have to pay $15 for lunch it better be damn good. Sweetgreen is just damn ok. With a very limited menu, you'll burn through all the options after only a few visits. I only keep coming back because I work in the area and there's not a lot to choose from. Food is nothing special. Not particularly tasty and portions that leave you wanting a bit more. If you have the option, pick another place.
