Is There Too Much Pickle? | Eater

"A fast-casual salad chain has experimented with a pickle-based condiment (pickle ketchup), illustrating how the pickle trend has moved into mainstream condiments and menu accoutrements rather than remaining a simple sandwich or board accompaniment." - Jaya Saxena

Sweet greens, sweet service! Leaf and Kevin were the best! Patient, kind and helpful—I left with a full tummy and full heart. Great selection, fresh ingredients. Would recommend as a quick, energizing bite as you shop ‘til you drop.

I was really looking forward to this place as my family and I had never tried it before. Needless to say, I was totally disappointed with everything. First, we placed a mobile order for pickup at 1:15pm and did not physically receive our order until 1:40pm. We arrived around 1:20 pm and had to wait in line to ask about our order. Once my husband got up to the counter, he was told that the order was ready, but he had to wait in the "pick-up" area. So he waited an additional 12 minutes as everyone else in line received their orders. That was a really awful first impression and it was just generally rude. Poor service, especially when the food isn't cheap and we placed the order almost an hour before our pickup time. The food was not good either. The portion sizes were fine and the ingredients seemed fresh, however, I couldn't taste anything but cilantro. There was so much cilantro that it overpowered the entire bowl; I could barely taste the pickled onions and there was no trace of sauce. My kids got a side of focaccia and hummus with their food, but the bread was so dry that you could barely swallow it. The apples and tortilla chips that came with their meal were saturated in whatever dressing they use on the chicken, making them soggy and inedible. I can't see myself going back there again. Total waste of money and time.

It's 2025, and sadly, racism behavior are still very real — even in upscale places like this mall. Most of the staff were friendly, but I had a very upsetting interaction with the server in the photo. He was incredibly rude and condescending. It felt like every customer had to FOLLOW his personal rules. If you were still looking at the menu when he said “hi”, he will repeated that same word and let you order until you said “hi” back. “Please give me couple more minutes” is a NO, you have to say the word “hi”. He also corrected my wording in a patronizing way, then literally laughed in my face and mocked what I said. When I placed my order and said “lettuce,” he cut me off and said, “Oh, it’s not lettuce, it’s called romaine,” then laughed dismissively while repeating the word lettuce in a mocking tone. If I wanted kale, I would’ve said kale. If I meant spinach, I would’ve said spinach. Does sweet green has other lettuce than romaine? No! There’s no reason to belittle someone over how they phrase a food order. His attitude was humiliating and felt deeply disrespectful and rude. I didn’t come here to be lectured, mocked, or made to feel out of place. This kind of behavior should have no place in public service, and it’s disappointing to encounter it in a place like this.

Google
This is the worst sweet green location I’ve ever been to!! Workers are yelling at each other in front of customers, they seem bothered by customers questions and the they don’t put the full scoop of anything. Management really needs to step up!

This store has continuously screwed up orders. The latest incident included ordering double steak and receiving no steak at all in my bowl. Corporate should review quality of this store.

Google
i have never written a review in my whole life but the way i was treated by one of the workers there made me feel like i had to write something. so today i went to the king of prussia mall with my friend we are 16(me) and 17(her) after shopping for a bit we decided to get food i’ve never tried this restaurant but i decided to try because my friends food looked pretty good so i ended up going into the line. as i go into the line i see two workers they seemed busy so i was going to wait until they were done doing what they were doing(they both had two bowls in their hands) i wasn’t super hungry so i did not mind at all waiting because i know how it can be stressful in the kitchen sometimes from having friends who work in the food industry! but after one minute of standing one worker goes “are you going to order” so then i go and say “oh yeah sorry may i have the create your own bowl please” in a neutral voice not loud but not at all quiet then the other worker(the worker that was making my food and the worker that gave me and my friend the problem!) goes “can you speak up” and i go “yeah, sorry i have a hard time talking to people because i don’t like confrontation!” which i know confrontation is not the right word in this context but it was obvious i was telling him i have bad social anxiety. he goes “ok” then i ask him for lettuce and white rice and there was no problem so i was relieved because i thought maybe i was actually talking quiet and didn’t know it but then i go ask him for cucumbers and carrots and he rolls his eyes and asks my friend who is still next to me and has seen this all go down to order for me for my sake and then proceeded to ask her to do it for his sake. after that when i ask him for chicken then his coworker comes and starts a conversation with him and then he proceeds to say “oh he is shy and didn’t like confrontation but we all actually know what’s happening with them” implying that me and my friend whom is a person of color were being racist which i find that truly disgusting because i would never EVER imply that a kid is racist just because he simply has social anxiety. anyways the food was decent!

Google
Food was delicious! But I understand the comments on the service the woman you took my order rushed me and seemed to have an attitude. Other than that the portion was fine and the food was fresh

Google
I'm very upset about my friend experience. Her daughter is three years old and autistic and a staff member was told she was ,he repeatedly screamed about a balloon she was playing with charge for a five cent balloon and did not care the toddler was disabled went back and forth with customer it's already tuff for the family he just made life so much harder with our having no . Sympathy for family smfh I'll never go or refer anyone their I support autism

Yelp
Dre was very helpful, helped me understand my option, I haven't been to sweet green in such a long time, over all experience and amazing will be back. Clean they had a short line, place was clean and the food was good. I created my own bowl.

Yelp
I got the hot honey chicken plate and it was nice and filling. Portion size was decent for the hot honey plate. I also ordered the miso salmon plate and the caramelized garlic steak plate, I would say the piece of salmon could be a little larger, and it was a bit overcooked. Pretty standard for a mall food court. Service was alright, it did take a little bit even though it did not seem too busy.
google avatar

Kim R.

Yelp
Dre is amazing! Excellent customer service. The staff overall is great and the food is always fresh
google avatar

Eleni J.

Yelp
Quite poor value. For over $14, the amount of chicken I got is a joke. The bowl didn't taste bad--the flavor is pretty decent, but I got barely half of the chicken that Chipotle bowl contains. I like the decor and idea of Sweetgreen, but I just don't feel I got my money's worth. I could get a better, more fulfilling bowl at Chipotle, Mezeh, or California Tortillas.

Yelp
Aweful! Stopped in for a salad. Let's start with them being out of so many things.... tomatoes, green goddess dressing, cilantro lime dressing, pesto dressing and probably more but that's where I stopped asking before I kept striking out. Should have gone to shake shack at this point but my daughter wanted a Caesar salad. So I opted for Caesar dressing on my chopped steak salad which was very watery (probably cause they were running out). The steak tasted like garbage. Basically paid $30 for 2 bowls of romaine. My daughter didn't eat. The poor workers having to tell everyone that they were out of everything. Not their fault, poorly ran business. The one worker told me they don't get deliveries on the weekends. Will never return.

Hayley P.

Yelp
I paid over $15 for a bowl and got this. I only input 4 ingredients, but more of each should be provided if I'm paying the same price of a normal bowl. And even if they were providing one standard scoop per ingredient, there are only two pieces of broccoli. I would say I'm only eating here when I can watch them make it from now on, but I order pickup due to the short time frame of my lunch break. I'll be eating elsewhere

Yelp
I loved Sweetgreen! It's a healthy version of chipotle or Moe's. Walk up and order off the menu or build your own. The down side and it's no fault of their own but it's super hard to find. It's not on the mall interactive kios and the directions from Yelp and google have you walking in circles. It's in the mall at a food court. The best way to find it is to find the Shake Shack inside of the mall it's right next door. Don't call the number the phone is a push number menu and you won't get a person to help you find it. It's worth the walk around the mall to find this place I'd you are healthy minded.

Ryan E.

Yelp
Dre is awesome, please recognize him! Food great too, thanks for the recommendations.

Yelp
My go-to meal! Sweetgreen always fills me up to the brim and leaves me feeling satisfied and healthy. I love their sweet potatoes and pesto sauce. While this is a bit on the pricer end for a fast, casual meal, it's well worth it considering that the ingredients are fresh and well prepared. If you are looking for healthy food with a Mediterranean twist, I highly recommend Mezah (pictured on the bottom left) located in the mall as well.

Yelp
Disappointing.. stopped in for a guacamole greens salad and stood at the counter for 10 mins before anyone bothered to take my order as they walked back and forth doing nothing. Once I got my bowl I had a bowl of lettuce and a few tomatoes, chicken ,red onion , and a piece of avocado on top. When I say few I'm pretty sure it was 1/4 cup of toppings. I had to ask for bread which usually comes with it. I have a bowl of lettuce to go home and make a real salad with .. never again for $14.00 !!

Yelp
Sweetgreens is one of our fave, to-go, healthy, fast casual spots. This location is fine -- flavors are consistent and quality is as expected with others. Go-to warm bowls: - chicken pesto parm: our fave warm bowl. Perfect fcombo of chicken, spicy broccoli, cheese and salad with a yummy pesto sauce -Harvest bowl: if you like sweet potatoes and goat cheese, you'll love this one -Shroomami: no meat, mainly mushrooms with a yummy miso dressing, def get dressing on side bc it tends to get a bit salty Slice of bread is optional and you can always ask for substitutions
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Ordered the steakhouse chopped salad. The steak has no taste. The only redeeming factor is the green goddess dressing. Cashier offers complimentary bread but they have no butter for it??? Who eats dry bread.

Maria S.

Yelp
Ordered DoorDash from this location and there was a dead house fly in my bowl. I would add the picture but no one needs that burned into their brain like I do. This makes me seriously question the cleanliness of the facility

ellen l.

Yelp
the employees were nasty and incompetent, did not listen They refused to give me a cup for water this review is only for the king of prussia mall, never had a bad experience at another one.

Yelp
Great little spot for healthier, yet still delicious fare! I have the sense that the whole bowl-salad craze is a bit 2017, but sweetgreen still tries to keep it fresh, with locally sourced ingredients, some organic options, ingredients prepped on site, etc. You'd never see my at a Saladworks post sweetgreen unless desperation strikes! The employees are all super friendly, and are certainly trained to perfection with attention to details and portion control. I imagine some more voracious eaters may balk at a small scoop of X or Y ingredient, but that's part of what keeps these salads in the 500-800 calorie range (depending on premiums and dressings) versus the 1800-2800 monoliths at the bastions of gluttony such as Cheesecake Factory. Since I'm a bit of a control freak, I like to CYO salad option. Some of the standout features are the steelhead salmon, fresh avocados (no spoiled spots!), extra spinach/mesclun greens, chickpeas, and the dressings. It's all about the dressings. I usually go light in application, and they're still supremely flavorful. A few of my favorites are any that have spicy in the name, particularly, spicy cashew. This is what sets sweetgreen apart, too, very flavorful dressed salads with healthier, more premium ingredients. Everything is very pandemic friendly, which tbh, lends the whole ambiance a cooler, more austere feeling. I had not ventured out much, if at all, so this was my first foray post full-vaccination to a sweetgreen location, and it was still great in terms of the food and service, but one yearns from the more festive, communal atmosphere of yore.
google avatar

Yelp
I loved this place. They have so many tasty salad options to choose from. Their menu rotates seasonally so you can try different options throughout the year. Everything is fresh and unique, I just wish we had one closer to home in WI!
google avatar

Sabrina W.

Yelp
I want to eat sweetgreen crispy rice salad everyday. It is so good, and warm salads are just better than cold salads! I've tried to remake them, but they just don't taste as good. And yes, I'm totally okay with going to buy a $15 salad because there is something addictive about this masterpiece of a sweet green salad.
google avatar

Harry B.

Yelp
Super nice people. It's a walk up and order type place. Drinks are unique and fresh. They don't - I repeat - don't take cash. Credit card only. The food is fresh and unique as well. It changes as the seasons change. The flatware is biodegradable. Cool. Try it. I don't like beets and they use them in almost everything. Ask for them to be removed and all is well with the world.
google avatar

Yelp
I've loved other sweetgreen locations in the past, but this one was so-so. The girls working there were miserable (even though it was slow and we were the only other customers besides one other person). They didn't greet us and were super condescending; if you asked them a question or took just a little too long looking at the options, they acted like we were wasting their time. After we checked out, I saw that there was a Mezeh and wished I had taken my business there instead.
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
Hands down thee best salad I have ever had in my life! Highly recommend this place!!!
google avatar

Galen H.

Yelp
Friendly service here and I like this location a lot. However, they almost never have kale or romaine or something major.
google avatar

Arthy B.

Yelp
I've never been into any kind of salads until I tried sweet greens- and I understand it's a salad and all- but this place know how to salad for sure! All their dressings are incredible and the menu choices are great combinations and you can create your own- and then the mixing- now that's a special skill when you ask them to mix the salad. I know I sound like someone who knows nothing about salads.. and believe me I don't and was never interested in salads until Sweet Green! So thank you for all you do.. with the great choices and the mad mixing skills!

Yelp
Ive always wanted to try Sweetgreen in NYC but the line is always so long. Now 8 know why. People are so indecisive. Myself included. The salad wasn't anything to rave home about. It made me feel healthy and I over paid for it. Now I can say I tried it but I probably won't be back. Also I tried all of their juices and didn't like a single one. My friend who doesn't enjoy sweet treats though the juices were great. Just let that soak in.
google avatar

Mel P.

Yelp
Quick, friendly service when you're craving something a little more healthy. They offer a variety of seasonally-fresh ingredients, locally sourced. You can order from the menu or create your own. Either way, everything is made to order right in front of you. Last night I tried the Spicy Sabzi salad, which was packed with yummy greens. I declined the bread, and was still pretty satisfied. My husband is a big fan of the Rad Thai. They all sound good! They also have warm bowls and interesting, unique house drinks. I like how they ask you how much dressing you want -- that's a nice touch. I hate a drenched salad as much as a dry one! No complaints. I'll be back.
google avatar

Annabelle L.

Yelp
Who says eating healthy is tasteless? Located on the 3rd floor is a small food court area and it is tucked right behind shake shake, is a healthy and delicious salad and poke bowl dining. They also have vegan options which is a huge plus for me. You can choose the right off the menu on their board or create your own. The calories content is listed with their menu for those who counts their macros. I chose their tofu bowl with wild rice, kale, beets, sunflower seeds and requested their oriental dressing on the side. It also comes with 1 slide of rye bread. The meal was delicious and very fulfilling. The size portion is medium but since I wasn't so hungry, it filled me up fine. The price is a bit expensive considering the amount I received and mainly the bowl is filled with kale. I'm rating 4 because they have no spoons and I like to use a spoon with eat with my rice.
google avatar

Yelp
I had a great dinner at the KoP sweetgreen last night. I ordered the curry chickpea bowl from the "winter menu" but, upon the good advice of the woman making it, added greens (I chose mesclun). It was very good. The greens were fresh, the bowl had plenty of chicken and chickpeas, and the curry dressing was mild but added some interesting flavor. And I washed it down with the delicious cucumber ginger lime fresca. The employees at this location were pleasant and seemed to be in a good mood which makes things better. The seating area is bright and roomy. Sweetgreen prices can seem a bit high (~$10 for a salad or bowl) but they give you plenty of food and it's good. Overall, a good place for a healthy meal.
google avatar

Renee D.

Yelp
I decided to order using the app today and all went well. I was able to order all of my sauces on the side and even a little extra. I picked a time, paid and walked over. My salad was ready and waiting. It was also beautifully prepared and delicious. I am definitely a fan.
google avatar

Paige G.

Yelp
It was my first time trying sweetgreen and I'm so glad I did! We went to the mall on our way home from the city and were excited for the new location. My mom got the Hot Mezze which has quinoa, chicken, raisins, hummus and her favorite was the spicy broccoli. I got the create your own and got a bunch of different toppings like falafel, roasted chick peas and sweet potatoes! The flavors are incredible and everything is so fresh. We saw them constantly bringing out new fresh ingredients. I love how the chalk board has all of the farms where they get a lot of their produce. I also love how everything is compostable! My only complaint was that my falafel was dry and the server making my salad was kind of rude when I told her it was my first time here and I wasn't sure how to create my own or how many of each category you could pick. I was slow and she wasn't patient but overall this place is worth it and I can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Daniel Z.

Yelp
I appreciate the Sweetgreen in this mall, so I can quickly reorder what I always have from the app and get back to shopping!

Cheyenne C.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time and I believe her name is Taj was amazing!! So sweet, pleasant, and funny! Her customer service was above and beyond and everyone here is very friendly with big personalities

Yelp
4.5* Shroomami was excellent and full of flavor. I went heavy on the miso sesame ginger dressing and didn't regret it. The mushrooms were delicious, beets were crunchy, tofu was flavorful, and rice was tasty. yum!

Yelp
I love sweetgreen and have never had a bad experience ordering there. They use many local ingredients, so the food is incredibly fresh. They have signature items, a seasonal menu, and you can always make your own creation. If you are mindful of your fat intake, don't be fooled by salad or warm bowls with whole grains, the fats add up. Dressings are where they get you, so I always order the dressing on the side and add as much as I want. I usually use half for less of what they use. You can get their full nutritional information on their website. One of my favorite things on the menu is the harvest bowl. It has chicken, apples, goat cheese, sweet potatoes and some almonds for a little crunch. For salads if you like falafel, the hummus tahina is a great choice. You are also offered a roll with your order; it's a great accompaniment to the meal.

Caroline A.

Yelp
Got the green goddess salad (I think that's what it's called). It was $12 for one of the worst salads I've ever had. I asked for medium dressing and my salad got soaked in an overly oily vinaigrette. It made the whole salad soggy. I ended up taking 3 bites and throwing the whole thing out. Then, as I was checking out, one of the workers said "we have 5 more hours of this s***" to the woman who was checking me out. Huge waste of money
google avatar

Kay B.

Yelp
Sweetgreen reached out to me and offered for me to come back to try a bowl that was more my speed after I wasn't thrilled with Shroomami bowl. I took them up the offer and tried the Rad Thai salad bowl. It was delicious especially after I added some avocado. I wouldn't hesitate to go for heavy dressing next time to amp up the flavor even more. I'm really happy with the customer experience and wouldn't hesitate to come back again to try another one of their offerings or enjoy the Rad Thai bowl again. This sweetgreen location is in the new Savor foodcourt in KoP mall. There's tables that are within the sweetgreen space in addition to seating all over the foodcourt. It's very busy here on weekends so there may be a wait before you get your food prepared and get to enjoy it. They also had signs that they're no longer accepting cash at this location. Get their app or bring a credit card.

Yelp
I visited sweetgreen on a quiet evening. Two men in front of me were being served by at least three employees. There was a great deal of socializing, both among the employees and between the employees and the other two customers. After waiting for too long for anyone to even acknowledge me, I gave up and left for California Tortilla, who seemed to actually want my money.
google avatar

Lu X.

Yelp
What a sweet discovery at one of the food courts at King of Prussia! I had the harvest bowl for an early dinner. Everything was so fresh and perfectly mixed together. Very impressive. Wish we had it back home.
google avatar

Ed V.

Yelp
Im a frequent eater at this chain, really like the product and the business model seems very well put together, but nearly every store i goto the customer service is off the mark and doesn't match the rest of it. The salads are always tasty!
google avatar

Rupa S.

Yelp
The best salad place I have ever been to and loved all the salad I tried here. Even if you hate salad - try this place and you might change your mind. An amazing amazing place with so many salad options.

Shelby B.

Yelp
Food is great but they are always out of ingredients by dinner time. The times i've ordered delivery they were skimpy.
google avatar

Patrick C.

Yelp
This is the place to go for the best salad in The King of Prussia mall. The food is amazing and all ingredients are fresh and organic. I recommend the harvest bowl! The staff is so friendly that they almost all know my name. They also remember what I like. If you are in a rush, order through the app. Your salad will be ready on time, on a shelf: just grab and go! The place doesn't take cash. Just download the app.
google avatar

Chelsea S.

Yelp
This is my go-to food counter in the King of Prussia mall. They offer massive, fresh salads packed with flavor that even my carnivore boyfriend enjoys. Our favorite is the shroomami which is a warm bowl. If you love mushrooms or Asian inspired salads, then definitely give this one a try. Another bonus that you don't often find at mall food courts: the servers are very efficient and always smiling.
google avatar

Kirby D.

Yelp
All these people leaving negative reviews are annoying, irrelevant, and entitled. Service was fast and friendly. I eat at sweetgreen almost everyday in New York and the service is always consistent and amazing, and this location is nothing different. You're dumb not to eat here.
google avatar

Dania S.

Yelp
My trip to the mall is never complete without sharing a sweetgreen bowl after shopping. I absolutely love their warm wild rice bowl. I substitute the chicken with tofu. Your first bite is a forkful of arugula and crunchiness of the crispy rice with that tanginess of lime. It's heavenly and so refreshing. I ask for medium dressing and it's never overwhelming.
google avatar

S M.

Yelp
They had my ingredients missing and did not bother telling me! When I asked them for a credit they said I have to Email. What a scam. I was a pickup and they did not bother telling me. They thought I would just go home and realize and it would be too late to ask for a refund. Unfortunately for them, I was still in the mall and eating it and went back for a refund and they told me to go email and they wouldn't be able to refund me at the store, which is truly a pain. Their app allows them to charge you for things they don't have but yet can't refund you if they don't have them and on and on top of it they don't even tell you that the ingredients are missing.
google avatar

Melanie H.

Yelp
Located at the newest food court at the King of Prussia mall, Sweetgreen is a gourmet health joint that serves mostly salads, and some quinoa bowls. They make massive salads and have a very friendly staff. Line was long so it took a while to get the food. Kale Caesar - SO delicious! It was tangy, fresh, and sunny. Loved the Parmesan chips they put in it.Will probably dream about it later. Spicy Sabzi salad - it was OK. Probably just not my thing. Overall great experience. Can't wait to try the other things on the menu. Wasn't too pricey for what you get either.
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
I was super impressed! The staff was very friendly and all of the ingredients were fresh. I got the shroomami, which was delicious. Side note; everything looked very, very clean which is key for an establishment dealing with mostly raw produce! I saw the staff change their gloves to serve customers.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
This is the first time I tried sweetgreen although many friends have been raving about it for ages. It's a chain and there are other locations in the area. I was at the mall and thought I'd go with something healthier than Shake Shack which my husband and son were having. The sweetgreen people were friendly and helpful. There is a main menu board but ingredients can be customized. I tried the fish taco warm bowl. It was really delicious and I felt very healthy for my choice. I only ordered the salad - no beverage - and it was $12 with tax. It might be a little expensive to have on a regular basis. There are tables in the immediate area of sweetgreen as well as many other tables in the food court area. This location had a sign that they do not accept cash.
google avatar

Mitch M.

Yelp
One of the best area spots to eat healthy. There's an obvious focus on quality with Sweetgreen. The ingredients are fresh and can be seen in storage and prep phases. The employee making my salad discarded small bad pieces of greens that would normally be served to customers anywhere else. The flavors were great and the quality of food is better than most other places that might charge the same amount or more for a salad. All of the little things that they do to make the dining experience better really add up to be a great meal. This will be my spot to eat anytime I'm in the KoP area.
