Sweetgreen Is Coming to Seattle | Eater Seattle

"The vibe-y salad-bowl company that has captured millennial hearts nationwide is finally coming to Seattle: its first Seattle-area location will open on Tuesday, January 16 at the Village at Totem Lake mall in Kirkland, followed later this year by locations in South Lake Union and Capitol Hill. Founded in 2007 by a trio of Washington, D.C., business school grads, Sweetgreen quickly expanded (by 2018 it was valued at over $1 billion) and went public in 2021; today it has a market cap of roughly $1.25 billion. It's frequently described as “mission-driven,” aiming to reduce its carbon footprint, donate to food banks, and use local ingredients (in Seattle it will work with suppliers such as Macrina Bakery and Vashon’s Island Spring Organics), and the company has mixed its restaurant roots with a tech mindset—hosting a music festival until 2016 and even expressing hopes to someday have robots in stores. To celebrate the Totem Lake opening there will be a grand opening party on January 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with complimentary tote bags, a floral bar, treats from the SweetSide bakery, and a pledge to donate a meal to Northwest Harvest for each meal sold on opening day." - Harry Cheadle

I can’t say enough good things about this place! The salads are absolutely top-notch always crisp, colorful, and made to order with super fresh ingredients. You can really taste the quality in everything they use. The dressings are flavorful without being overpowering, and there’s a great variety of proteins and toppings to mix things up. Service is always quick and friendly, even during the lunch rush, and I love how easy it is to grab something healthy on the go without sacrificing flavor. The portion sizes are generous, the packaging keeps everything fresh, and I always leave feeling satisfied (and not weighed down).

I ordered through the app. The store ran out of 4 toppings that I selected, some I paid extra for. The app is clearly not in sync with the store inventory. What kind of salad place run out of spring mix? I opened my salad it was just half full, too sad looking for $20. I would have appreciated if there was a note telling me I could substitute my toppings before I left the store. At least the employee was nice about substituting my toppings when I brought the salad back later.

Disheartening First Experience This was my first visit to Sweetgreen, where I ordered a vegetarian salad bowl. Unfortunately, I discovered pieces of meat—either beef or chicken—in my bowl after having already taken a few bites. As someone who is Hindu and strictly vegetarian for religious reasons, this was deeply disappointing and upsetting. No refund can undo the distress caused by this experience. I urge the team to take cross-contamination between vegetarian and non-vegetarian items more seriously. Accuracy and sensitivity in food preparation are essential, especially for customers with dietary restrictions rooted in faith.

My coworker, who frequently orders from this place, had recommended it to me. The guacamole greens was delicious, specifically the sauce. The service was really good, and the staff was incredibly friendly and fast in preparing my order.

We found this restaurant while exploring the Seattle area. It was excellent. A great find! They have a good variety of meals & ingredients. Hubby always wants some meat. I am happier without it, so the menu variety worked for both of us. The ingredients were fresh with good sized portions & reasonably priced. As it was our first visit, we had a lot of questions about food choices. The staff were so helpful & friendly. Definitely will return. Highly recommend.

Terrible place to eat. Food was mediocre but the saddest part of eating at this place is the lack of care of the employees. They ran out of paper cups for water and I asked the counter staff for one. They said they ran out of paper cups but offered no alternatives. They couldn’t have cared less. I did not want to buy bottled water for $3.50 a pop. The least they could have done was to replenish paper cups by perhaps purchasing some from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods, which were close by. That would be ultimate customer service. Being so thirsty with the spicy bbq, I asked for a bowl and drank from the bowl.

Popped into the Sweetgreen in Totem Lake and it did not disappoint. I had the Chicken + Avocado bowl and it was so fresh and flavorful — like the perfect mix of healthy and actually tasty. The team was super nice, the place was spotless, and everything just felt easy. Totally my kind of lunch spot. I’ll be back for sure.

Loved the salads so far but I found a full size rusted nail in the salad today which makes me question their quality control. It's totally unacceptable and I am not sure that I will be be to order from them again without feel scared. Poor, poor, poor service.
