Salad Chain Sweetgreen Lands in Twin Cities with Three Upcoming Locations - Eater Twin Cities

"California-based salad chain Sweetgreen Inc. will open three locations in the Twin Cities this year, confirming the company’s plans for a Midwest expansion. Sweetgreen has a cult following among salad eaters on the coasts and is known for its loyalty program and verdant marketing assets. In October of 2021, Sweetgreen filed for an initial public offering. The company has seen both widening losses and strong sales growth. Sweetgreen plans to open its first Twin Cities location in Edina this summer, with spots in the North Loop and on Grand Avenue to follow." - Justine Jones

This was my first time eating anything from sweet green and I tried the Crispy rice bowl as a first timer. The food was good and I actually enjoyed it but it's just that there's is a slight turn off at the end of me finishing the meal, I noticed that there was a strand of hair on the food that absolutely causes me to lose appetite and it grossed me out please next time y'all should do better it's really not hygenic but however the food was okay, if you look closely you would see the strand of hair

I just love sweet greens. Always a great option when I want to eat healthy. Fair price, fair environment.

Google
It’s salad. We pay too much for simple stuff but this is a good deal nevertheless. A pretty standard selection for this sort of salad place but it seems a step above most others. Always gotten take out as the indoor dining is not exactly inviting. Great outdoor patio if there are any seats available

Ordered a Miso Salmon Bowl + another dish via Uber Eats to a nearby location from the restaurant. I was disappointed to see that the Salmon was missing from the bowl, which was the main reason for ordering the dish. All I got was a miserable bit of rice, avocado, onions, and cucumber. I sent a complaint to Uber Eats, but no response until now. Later in the evening I walked by Sweetgreen on my way home and stopped by to complain about my order. I was still hungry and I thought the least they could do is to give me a piece of salmon to take away. I showed them my receipt and a picture of my meal. Their response was "Oh yeah, we haven't had salmon all day and that's why it's show in the receipt with extra basmati rice." If that was with extra rice I wonder what is a single portion, and do they really think extra rice is a good substitute for a salmon? Then they said "Oh there is code 86 meaning we are out of the item." "So?" I said (there was no code anywhere in my receipt) "Oh, if you order using the Sweetgreen app, it will tell you at the end if we don't have the item." "Well, I used Uber Eats, and usually Uber Eats doesn't even let you choose an item that's not available, and this one was available." "Oh, sorry there is nothing we can do, but the manager will be here tomorrow if you want to talk to him." That's just about how the conversation went, they never offered to make things right by offering a free salad or credit for next order or something, just told me to contact the third-party app (Uber Eats). If they had tried to make things right, I would probably give them at least a 4-review, the food seemed fresh, although the portion was tiny for the price. I'm not planning to go talk to the manager about this order, easier to simply avoid this place. I see many other reviews with similar problems, and wish I had read them before ordering. This is my first review on Google by the way, and it's because of the failure to make things right by the staff.

This sweetgreen is fantastic, I stop in a few times a week and the service is excellent. Specially Shawn and Beverly always go above and beyond with their customer service. This is the best sweetgreen location in the twin cities area.

I've ordered from here 4 times and every time something is missing, they keep giving me credits on my account so I keep trying them out but it really sucks having something missing every time. Each time it's usually at least 3 ingredients missing. I ordered a harvest bowl and the wild rice was missing, like that's got to be one of the most popular things on the menu so I'm not sure how they forget the wild rice. I've ordered the hummus crunch and the hummus was missing, it's in the name lol. It's real upsetting to pay $2 for avocado and that be missing. I don't understand what's happening here that they consistently forget stuff, but the food I do get is always yummy. I just wish they could look at the list of ingredients I pay for and place them into the bowl. It seems easy to me but maybe these workers aren't paid enough to care.

Google
Easily the WORST Sweetgreen I’ve ever been to. When I ordered my meal the African worker (I’m also African myself) attempted to charge me extra for a meal item I did not order. I thought maybe it was an honest mistake, so I gave it the benefit of doubt. However, what came next was simply egregious. I had ordered fries and was told by the same worker to wait 15 minutes and they’d be ready. After waiting for half an hour and ongoing, the worker was nowhere to be seen and after going up to the front I was informed by other staff that she clocked out and didn’t tell anyone about the fact that I was waiting for fries. When I eventually got the fries they weren’t hot and clearly had been sitting out. Meaning, I was waiting for a long while for no reason. Also they had no steak at all when I wanted to order some. Bad customer service and would recommend other Sweetgreen locations. I usually really like Sweetgreen but this location is bad. Do not go.

So this is my first time ordering sweet green I ordered through Uber Eats. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad for myself and the little harvest. For my kid. I open up my container and the first thing I see is a hair on top of one of my salad dressings. I pick it off and move on. As I remove the very salad dressing that had the hair on it, there’s a huge hair underneath. Disgusted and disappointed doesn’t even begin to explain how I feel right now. Like, I I was looking forward to this salad and now I’ll never try to eat here again.

Yelp
We order from Sweetgreen every Friday at the office. Every one of us enjoys our different bowls. I love that I can create my own vegan bowl with what I prefer. The slice of bread that comes with it is always fresh and tasty. And the dressings are really good. My favorite is the cashew ginger which is a great flavor combo and it tastes like it is made there. Not from a vat, or a giant plastic bucket.

Yelp
A great first time at sweetgreen. Service was fast and they provided helpful suggestions to help me customize my bowl. I was excited about the harvest bowl but don't love kale, so they recommended half spinach half arugula. It was great. I loved how thinly the sweet potatoes were sliced. It made for great flavor and perfect texture. The inside was tidy and clean. They also have a nice (small) patio if you'd like to sit outside.

Yelp
This was out door dash order. We ordered 2 salads and a salmon dish that came out to $70! Insane price and this was the quality. See pic below. This food was absolutely terrible. Do not order from here and expect quality.

Yelp
I ordered this to go, and got a delicious meal. Everything was there first off -- which is always impressive with a to-go ordered on an app. The food was amazing, flavorful, and large portions. The price felt a bit on the high end although truthfully it was fresh food, which can run more expensive. I also tried their gluten free rice crispy and it was quite unique and flavorful. The food from this place was a texture persons dream! So crunching and chewy! I can't speak to ambiance but I'll plan to visit there in the future due to how tasty it was. Lastly they didn't serve me but they had all ordered items present and even sent a thank you message regarding my star rating! I would recommend their delicious and nutritious food!

Yelp
Salmon was dry AND COLD. Rice was gross. I'll give a one because I can't give zero. And, I didn't get any silverware. In the positive, the spring mix was crunchy.

Yelp
I was visiting Minneapolis for a work trip and came to this Sweetgreen location for lunch twice during the week. I'm not sure why the reviews aren't great, as I found this location to be pretty on par with ones I've been to in Boston, Philly, etc. In fact, the lines at this location were much shorter and there was plenty of seating. My only gripe was that they were missing some of the ingredients for their bowls, but they were good about replacing them with whatever you wanted. In terms of my meals, I tried the Shroomami and Crispy Rice Bowls. I found both bowls to be delcious and decently filling, given the mix of rice and greens. Everything in the bowls was cooked nicely and the ingredients were seasoned well. The dressings were also great and added a good amount of flavor to the greens. Great spot overall!

Yelp
I was looking forward to my miso salmon all day, only for the salmon to have been forgotten.

Yelp
The first time it was ok but the second time, they put the wrong dressing on my salad which tasted awful, but it's healthy so I ate about half of it. Now for the past two hours I've been in excruciating pain like a bomb went off in my stomach. I'm never ever ordering from here again and wish I'd read all the reviews below. Clearly this place was an awful choice, and I pray this doesn't make me sick all weekend.

Yelp
Solid vibes here on a busy intersection. The staff was uber competent and friendly. The elote bowl is elite so make that your first choice above all.

Yelp
Very disappointed. Ordered online and picked up from the store. When I got home, my salad didn't have any vinaigrette in it when I got home. I also didn't get the bread on the side that I included and they put the wrong soda in my bag. The featured chipotle chicken bowl I received was not like the picture in the app at all! It was literally a tiny bit of rice and super tiny portion and that was it. It was truly a sad bowl.

Yelp
This place is so much yummier than crisp & green, bigger portions and more flavors! It would be the cherry on top if they had some kind of smoothies and shakes, there is only tea or kombucha canned drinks. I wish there were more locations, I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
The BEST Salad I have ever had! Harvest bowl with extra chicken. I would eat this everyday if I could!

Katie A.

Yelp
Every time I order, my salad is missing multiple ingredients and never has the salad dressing. They skimp on portions if you're ordering it through a delivery app. It's impossible to go inside and eat they start cleaning and putting chairs up 6-8pm even though they're open until 10 apparently. Well they never are actually open and functioning until 10. Tried to go in the other day, again all the chairs were up and they were cleaning but claimed they were still open even though only half of the food was out. Then the kid working behind the counter was vacuuming the counter with a shop vac near food they were still serving which appeared very unsanitary as I watched him pick up the nossel for the vacuum off the floor, and then proceed to vacuum on top of the counter where the food was still being prepped and next to and all around the open unprotected ingredients. There are a bunch of college kids working here who are unhelpful, rude, and don't listen. They have their AirPods in listening to music pretty much completely ignoring customers. I don't like coming here. Sweet green isn't like this on the west coast, it's far superior.

Yelp
I was really disappointed by the food I received. The salad was underwhelming, the focaccia came with about a tablespoon of hummus, and they forgot my utensils. Almost all of my dishes came in a very small quantity, and they looked like they were thrown together. I wouldn't recommend, it was very expensive for what I got.

Georgia J.

Yelp
Ordered online and my salad is missing multiple ingredients that I paid for, as well as the bread.
