Learn How to Make Aaron Franklin’s Brisket in Barbecue Masterclass | Eater Austin

"I learned Cutie Pies will be one of eight food trucks gathering in the Macy’s parking lot at 3311 Esperanza Crossing starting May 31 as part of a pilot program; the trucks will operate Friday–Sunday on a month-to-month basis, with most staying constant and a few rotating weekly." - Erin Russell

This was a wonderful experience!! The food was fantastic but very sweet. The service was great! The person who greeted us kinda jump scared us but they apologized very quickly and were very kind to us. The whole shop smelled so good and it was so cool and very detailed!

One of the only things I wanted to eat when I got to Door County was a good piece of cherry pie, and Sweetie Pies did not disappoint!!! Real cherries, delicious crust! My husband had a chocolate tart with graham cracker crust and he loved it.

Google
After ordering from them for three or four years, I can say that the quality of their pies has changed. I’ve ordered two pies from this place in the past year, and both were of poor quality. During the summer, I visited the bakery without making a reservation and ordered a cherry pie. Unfortunately, it was filled with cherry pits. On the other hand, for Thanksgiving, as usual, we called ahead and ordered the apple pie. Surprisingly, it turned out to be more like an apple-sauce pie than an apple pie. The website didn’t mention this, but the pie was not fully cooked in the center. The texture was completely off and inedible. While they do offer “gluten-friendly” pies, I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to anyone with celiac disease, as it poses a safety risk.

Google
I was warmly greeted by the Owner in this cute little cluster of stores. She and her team make the tastiest pies in Door County! I got a pie flight to share with my husband: cherry, pecan, chocolate chess and key lime pie. All of them were outstanding! I highly recommend stopping here for some pie, outdoor seating for your dogs too. Don't forget a cup of coffee!

Ethan B.

Google
Best pie in Door County! We tried cherry one day and came back for peach the next. Looks like we've found a reason to drive back here from North Carolina! (Also: we ❤️🧡💛💚💙 your flag!)

Google
Disappointing Decline in Quality at Sweetie Pies Sweetie Pies has long been a staple for Door County tourists, but their quality has significantly declined. Four years ago, their pies were a must-have; now, they are inconsistent and not worth the premium price. This decline is especially frustrating coming from a small, family-run business. Recent Issues: Safety/Preparation: We encountered cherry pits in pies over the summer, and a recent order was undercooked. Ingredients: They used to focus on fruit, not filling. It appears they are now sacrificing that quality, as the texture of the pie suggests a noticeable amount of apple sauce is being used as a substitute for whole fruit. A Warning on Gluten Friendly Options: Be cautious with the "gluten friendly" pies. They are overpriced and skimp on the filling. Crucially, as they operate a standard bakery, those with Celiac Disease should avoid these options entirely due to the high risk of cross-contamination

Google
Best pie in Door County! We always stop here first and pick up some slices and a whole pie to enjoy while we are here. Make sure you call ahead for full pies if you want them baked. Cherry, blueberry, and apple crumble are the best!

Google
Dropped in for the first time and purchased 2 slices, one Cutie Pie and a flight that had 4 very small pies. Total cost was between $45-$50 We got a combination of cherry crisp , apple crisp , apple cherry ( in picture) and lemon. First - service was friendly and excellent. It’s a charming shop on the outskirts of town. Easy parking and lovely location. You can sit outside at one of several tables and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Yes the pies are a bit spendy, but it’s a tourist location and not out of line with what is reasonable. The pies were fresh and the ingredients taste top notch. The cherry pie slice was very flavorful and probably my first choice. It’s my husband’s favorite, but he shared a bite with me. I love apple pie and was excited to try my slice of the apple crisp pie . Though the flavor was good, the apples were far too mushy. The filling was more like thickened apple sauce than pie. I much prefer a firmer apple that is tender, but not mushy. The crumble topping was delicious though. I’ll give it that. The Cutie pie was the cherry apple and though it has a great flavor, the dome on the pie was not filled with fruit as I had anticipated. I’m sure part of the issue is the filling loses volume as it bakes, but this was rather ridiculous. The photo shows the pie cut in 1/2 with the amount of filling in the pictured half exactly as it appears in the pie. For $12 I would expect better. The apples were a little less mushy in this pie, so that was an improvement over the slice of apple crisp pie . The mini pies we got in the flight were 2 cherry crisp, 1 lemon and 1 apple. We haven’t tried the lemon and apple yet, but the cherry was quite tasty , though the crust on the bottom is a bit thick. I don’t know that I would make a special trip from Green Bay to get their pies, but I might stop in when in door county for a flight of their mini cherry crisp pies.

Yelp
I'm a pie lover and stopped to check this store out and was very disappointed. One of the poorer pieces of pie I've ever had!

Yelp
A pie shop is Door County... of course! Yes, you can get pies at lots of places in this tourist destination. But you will not get the assortment of choices that this place has. Plus they are really great! Sweetly Pies has a chalk board type menu that goes up every morning and as the day goes on the choices start to dwindle.... So come early! You can pre-order. Which is a great idea. They will hold your pie for you! I think they have 3 sizes to choice from, from individual slices to full pies to take home. The business is kind of small, but it's pretty cute. Think a little cottage in the woods (like Hansel and Gretel without the witch). If you get a slice, you can sit on the porch and eat. Prefect pastime in the summer sun.

Paula S.

Yelp
Worst pie ever! Was so excited to stop here after getting delicious pies last year, but sooo disappointed this year. Pie was dry, apples were almost a solid mush...couldn't even tell they were apples. The cherry was the same except the cherries were dry, shriveled up little things. The pies we got at the markets were 100% better. Won't be back.

Tami F.

Yelp
We had to stop in before we left DC for two reasons. The amazing cherry deserts and my cat loved the toy we bought her last time. Unfortunately they were out of the toys, but we really enjoyed the pies of course!
google avatar

Yelp
Best cherry pie. This is the first time I've eaten cherry pie without the gel. It's all cherries and the crust isn't too thick. If you're looking to purchase a whole pie please know that you have to call to reserve it.

Yelp
Whenever we visit Wisconsin, we love to return to all our favorite places in Door County and Sweetie Pies is one of them! Covid changed the way they do business - you can no longer go inside their small building. Instead you order outside and your pie will be brought to you. I learned this time that you can order pies ahead of time. I called the morning of the day we were going but then learned that orders should be placed more than 24 hours ahead of time. I was still able to get my blueberry pie so not a problem. Specialty pie like lemon meringue or key lime can be ordered but they are not part of the rotation. A friend we were visiting did order a lemon meringue and raved about it. Slices are also available plain or A la mode with gelato from Door County Creamery and we enjoyed Larry Berry (blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry mix) slices - delicious! One note of caution - don't stop here if you are in a hurry as there is usually always a line and each order takes time. The couple in line in front of us had to ditch as they couldn't wait but that meant we enjoyed our pie that much sooner!

Yelp
we got a pie to eat there then took a frozen one home to the group for the Door Century bicyclist looking forward to tonight!!!

Yelp
Be sure to get a slice of pie at Sweetie Pies. One bite and I was transformed. It was raining that afternoon and with pandemic protocols, I wanted to take one bite in the car while it was warm before heading out, but ended up finishing the entire slice(s)... Both cherry and chocolate pecan. I had a friend whom I split with. I ended up going back for the whole shebang. People were ordering frozen pie for Thanksgiving. Sweetie Pies prides themselves on best ingredients, no cans! Apparently, a pie can take 3 hours of baking, so in the end I opted for the freshly baked. It's still good even if I freeze the baked one, crust is still crispy. One of the most delicious pie crusts too. They sell only crust as well.

Chuck M.

Yelp
Pies are great. No fillers. Door County Cherry and Apple/Cherry are the best. They deliver to the Chicago area during the holidays
google avatar

Jim K.

Yelp
We always have to stop at Sweetie pies, for their assortment of delicious pies, frozen or ready to eat. Fresh ingredients and great service keeps us coming back time after time.

Maria C.

Yelp
Must PREORDER whole pies! I was super excited to bring home a Sweetie's Pie. So I waltzed in, asked for one large cherry pie, and was saddened to find out you must preorder... I was able to get a small personal pie, but it's just not the same.

Bob F.

Yelp
We just ate the frozen cherry pie we bought there in August. It was the best cherry pie I have ever had. The cherries were plump and not overly sweet. No filler. The crust was perfect. The pie was well worth the price which is somewhat more that other places, but the cheaper ones can't match the one we had. This is a family business and they are doing a great job.

Yelp
Not sure why everyone is enamored by sweetie pies. I like the cute little house. That's pretty much where it ends. They'll create your special order by requesting 3 days in advance. I got a day-old slice of pie for $3 and cup of day old Lukewarm coffee for a couple more bucks. Seriously. If the coffee at 9 am when you first open is lukewarm well. I'm not sure I will like the pie either. And I didn't. The crust was not flaky but rather pasty. Perhaps I would have felt better if I paid $6 for the hot slice of pie, it did smell heavenly. Guess I'll never know how since I'll probably never go back. I do like the crust cookies or whatever they call them. Dough with sugar. Yum. That got the extra stars. The pie was disappointing. My husband will never let me live it down since I forced him to walk super early when we could of slept in so we'd get there just as they open. Oh well. Maybe now I'll listen to him.

Richard A.

Yelp
Cashier was rude. Not just to me but to a handicapped woman who asked if she could be provided a place to sit because the pies she had ordered were not ready on time. She was told "no" and "you don't need to come back again. She asked to speak to the owner or manager and found out that the Cashier WAS the owner. She's not the only one not coming back.....

Anne L.

Yelp
Was in the area with my mom to explore Door County. Mom wanted a piece of cherry pie and a cup of coffee. We stopped at Sweetie pies. I had a slice of pecan pie. Mom had a slice of cherry. My pecan pie was delicious. Mom said her cherry pie was the best she's ever had! Stop by sweetie pie and get a slice!

Barb S.

Yelp
Spent time in Fish Creek and decided to try Sweetie Pies cherry pie. It was delicious and I ordered an apple pie to treat my friends in Milwaukee. We had it this afternoon and everyone loved the pie. Nice Cinnamon flavor, great tasting apples and crust. When there met Chris and staff. Everyone was so nice and friendly. I will be ordering for Thanksgiving. Thank you for making our Sunday afternoon special.

Tim N.

Yelp
Excellent pies, fairly priced. HOWEVER - the owner (?) would be well advised to keep his political viewpoints to himself in this polarized world. Complimenting his Tesla led to him calling Biden a hideously bad president. Fox News watcher? Anyway - THAT experience left a terrible taste in my mouth. I'd much rather deal with Olivia. Stick to creating and selling pies. Leave your politics at home.

Yelp
I love their cherry pie because they don't add sugar to the cherries (that I can tell), they just let the natural flavors come through. Being a diabetic, this makes a huge difference for me and means I can have a regular size serving. So good!!
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Cherry-riffic! I saw these guys on an episode of Andrew Zimmern, and was inspired to look them up! I don't do a lot of sweets, but if I do, pie is my favorite. I was happy to see they were open, and happier to see they ship!! Within days, I had the best cherry pie, ever made, baking in my oven! My oven! The crust was amazing but the cherries weren't weighed down with a bunch of sugar or syrup. Just awesome cherries. Thank you guys for your bundle of joy!!

Ethan V.

Yelp
Went in for a cherry pie and left feeling like I just went to my grandmas house for dinner lovely lady amazing all around would definitely come back the pie was amazing you can feel the love in the pie
google avatar

Richard W.

Yelp
Maybe it is the door county cherries but there pie is amazing! We ordered 2 pies one was a mixed berry, it was delicious. I have never liked cherry pie so I didn't even bother trying it fresh. I ate some of the leftover cherry pie it was amazing! I would order cherry pie every time if it tasted like this!
google avatar

Carolina R.

Yelp
Amazing cherry pie!! A door county specialty. Perfect crust and delicious tart cherries. They had many other options too. The staff was friendly. Will definitely return!

Gary M.

Yelp
Great Cherry Pies!!! Super friendly service. Order a day in advance for a whole pie! Worth the stop!
google avatar

Richard R.

Yelp
Didn't measure up to what we were expecting after all the hype. The crusts were really thick and doughy and the filling wasn't overly abundant. Lots of good food in the area so I would try somewhere else next time.

R. D.

Yelp
It is the very best cherry pie that I have ever had. The crust is perfect and the cherries are delicious. . They used to use more cherries a long time ago. But I still love this pie. It isn't too sweet, & doesn't use the almond extract. Also love the red, white and blue pie, the mixed berry pie. The peach and the apple pie are delicious too!

Melissa B.

Yelp
Great pies. It would be 5-stars had they not just changed their policy - you can no longer stop in to pick up a full-sized pie. They require a 1-day advanced order. Only small pies and slices are available for drop-ins. Not the most customer friendly marketing plans, but the pie is still great.
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
I was expecting the best pie of my life, and it was underwhelming. I would say the pie was worse than average- the crust was very thin and soggy. The filling did truly taste like real cherries though!
google avatar

James K.

Yelp
I've been enjoying these pies for more than twenty years, and it's still like magic to take the first bite of either of my favorites - Door County Cherry, and Apple Caramel Nut. The cherry is jam packed with the delicious tart cherries that Door County is famous for, with just the right amount of butter and sugar, all sealed in spectacular flaky dough that is hand rolled on the premises. They do a road trip every year in November, and we order pies for pick up in Milwaukee - keeps our freezer filled with deliciousness that can be baked off when ever we need something warm and uplifting! Sweetie Pies is one of my favorite places since I moved to Wisconsin in the 1990s!

T ..

Yelp
To ensure freshness, I preordered a 4" small blueberry pie for next day pick up ($12). It's a cute place and the woman was very nice. This was one of the worst pies I've ever tasted. (Note tasted, 2 bites and I tossed it in the trash.) Overall, the pie is tasteless, and all the textures are off. The crust is super thin and soggy (not flakey, as it should be). The blueberry filling was a glob of juiceless, unsweet blueberries. Really terrible. Save your money and pick one up at the grocery store.
google avatar

Yelp
On a rainy afternoon in Fish Creek, Wisconsin, we found a gem! Sweetie Pies has the most delicious pies I have ever had! I had a piece of cherry (Door County cherries) pie and my husband had pecan. I loved the fact that it was not dripping in sugar and I could taste those amazing cherries. We brought home an apple pie and not too sweet, delicious apples and crispy crust. These pie are baked without corn syrup or fillers. It is easy to pass this place as you are headed to the bay area but make a special note to take a moment to enjoy these amazing pies! What a treat!
google avatar

Julie K.

Yelp
After researching who has the best cherry pie in all of Door County we decided to stop at Sweetie Pies. We picked the pie up on our way out of town and the pie was still warm... the smells I was getting the entire way home (4 hour drive) was beyond teasing and left me with an imagination of what I would be tasting soon! I hate to say it but I was very disappointed, especially for a $30 pie!!! The pie was bland and I did not experience the tart/sweetness I expect in a cherry pie.(I am not referring to that artificial cherry glaze!) I have made my own cherry pies for years.. after sharing a slice of this with my family, they all agreed that my pies are better. What a compliment considering this was considered one of the top 10 in Door County.

Mary D.

Yelp
While I haven't had every cherry pie in Door County, over the last 45 years I have had many and none compare to Sweetie Pies. Every time I'm in DC I fill my cooler with their frozen pies (order ahead) and enjoy the goodness at home. They have so many other flavors that all look good, but I'm stuck on cherry.

Yelp
Stopped by for two pieces of pie--bruiseberry and chocolate chess--and they were excellent. The bruiseberry was chock full and fruity without being too tart or sweet. The chocolate chess had oozy melty chocolate. We heard the owner explain to a customer that she makes about 40 regular varieties of pie with about 60 or 70 once you include custom fillings and gluten free varieties. We ended up ordering a custom blueberry rhubarb (not on the menu--they accommodated our request) and picking it up a couple days later. It was fantastic. The rhubarb and blueberry combo was perfect for us--they hit on the right combination of fruits. Crust was gorgeous and flaky and tender and better than the pie down the road, wherever that is. As for prices, yes, it costs a bit more than a piece of pie I might make but it's all about someone else making it from scratch. And getting to choose from 20 different kinds available right there where they make it. And sitting outside among the flowers in summer on vacation. And supporting artistry. FYI, no one is driving off in a Maserati from their pie profit at this place. And they aren't claiming to be your breakfast joint, your coffeehouse, your rest stop, your discount pastry shop. They are about the pie, and they do the pie very, very well.
google avatar

E M.

Yelp
Holy pies! This place will knock your panties off! The cookie pie, caramel apple, and cherry are amazing! Don't miss out on these pies!!!
google avatar

Dylan M.

Yelp
This is the place to come for pies in door county. There are a ton of places to get pies but they don't specialize in them like sweetie pies does. I first heard about them in an article in Rachel Rays magazine. And so when a friend asked me to pick up a pie a few seasons back I was like well if it's good enough for Rachel Ray it's worth a shot. It's now been my go to place each time I want to grab a pie to bring back home with me. It's small and pies are baked daily. Various choices of fruit pies sold whole or by the slice. So if you want pie this is the spot!
google avatar

Melanie S.

Yelp
Pies all day, e'eryday. Pies aplenty. Pie squared. How could you not love it? If you don't, you're a communist. Sweetie Pies is f*cking adorable. The pies are fresh, and clearly made with love. A selection the likes of which I'd never seen. Over 30 varieties that they rotate daily. Fruit pies (my favorite) that double down in decadence: peach-blueberry peach-raspberry cherry kablooie berry (blueberry-cranberry) apple-blackberry rhubarb three berry They also sell pecan pie, grasshopper pie, custard pie, creme pie, and sugar-free pies, even frozen bake-at-home pies! I love this place. I want to be berried here when I die.
google avatar

Kelly G.

Yelp
Mediocre pies and service. Owners claim to be liberal and open minded yet are not willing to employ anyone who isn't white. I wouldn't support this business if they had the last pies on earth. Owner, Olivia, is very bold and fake nice to customers. The previous owners were better and so were the pies.

Victor S.

Yelp
Pie was a little expensive but it was delicious until I found a long hair embedded in the cherries.
google avatar

Mark E.

Yelp
Typically love this place but made a mistake and ordered the cutties. A 5" pies. Ugh. All crust with a filling lacking any large pieces of apple. I'll be back but... just a slice of pie please.
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
I make it a point to stop here every time I visit Door County. They make the best fresh baked pies in the area hands down. The place is small and if it weren't for the large sign, you would most certainly mistake it for a small local cottage. The inside looks like your grandma's house. I thought it was neat that the kitchen and pie making process were clearly visible from the lobby. The last time I was there, I was greeted by two kind elderly women. The offered me some pie crust cookies made from the same dough as their pie crust. They make a trip down to the chicagoland area once a year, specifically kenosha. If you sign up and leave your email address they will notify you when. You can order a pie ahead of time and they will deliver you a frozen pie.
google avatar

Kat S.

Yelp
I just purchased six pies and an awesome $8.00 TShirt (in my size not some gigantic jersey) and feel like I won the the baking lottery. Cherry Pie Apple Pie Pecan Pie Raspberry Pie Pumpkin Pie Packer Pie I would do it again. All of it. These pies are hot, crispy, gooey and delightful. I might not fit In this shirt anymore but that is just one more reason to return! Oh and November 11, Sweetie Pies is coming to Chicago.

Jim J.

Yelp
Went there at 4:15 today. Guy asks us if we are picking up. No, we would like to order a slice or two. Guy says well we are closing soon. The woman then came out and she was somewhat friendlier. This places closes at five pm, not 4:15. They explained that they are understaffed and tired. The correct response would have been sure we would be happy to take your order. Not going there any more. I can get overpriced pie somewhere else with far less attitude.
google avatar

Dana C.

Yelp
The woman behind the counter is as sweet as her pies. I went in there twice back-to-back to buy cherry pockets. When I went back the second time I discovered the official cookie of heaven titled "crust cookies." They are leftover pieces of pie crushed with a thick layer of cinnamon sugar on top. I had to send my boyfriend back in to buy $5 worth of bags. ($1.50 a bag) If I could have them shipped to Chicago, I would.
google avatar

Ilona Z.

Yelp
Sweet shop where you can get a delicious fruit filled pie by the slice to enjoy in the ambiance or take a whole pie baked or frozen to bake at home and fill your house with the fantastic smell of these fresh baked pies. Such variety and can be ordered ahead to be vegan, gluten free and no sugar added. Delight in this charming beauty of Fish Creek.
google avatar

Ron K.

Yelp
The best pies or any dessert anywhere. I have had 70 years on this earth eating lots of choices and nothing comes close to the Cherry Rhubarb pie from Sweetie Pies.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
I love that after years of enjoying these pies, it's like no time has passed. So consistent. Always delicious. The crust is out of this world. Staff and owners are wonderful. How can you not be when you work in a pie shop?! I would know, I worked there! :) Highly recommend the triple berry if they have it.

A M.

Yelp
Do remember when pie was great? Like when you were 4 sitting in your grandmother's kitchen? This just might be that pie. If I could have a slice of this pie every day I would do it. My absolute favorite pie in the world is their Apple Caramel Nut. I have yet to try all of their wonderful pies, but I'm working on it. Try one for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

L I.

Yelp
Drove a couple of hours to experience what we thought was going to be the best pies we have ever tasted. The price really made me think "wow this is really going to be amazing" The anticipation all day of waiting to get home and taste this fabulous pie was almost irresistible. Imagine my surprise when i took my first bite and well..... i think you all know where this is going. Not impressed at all. The crust was like cardboard and cherries seemed dried out. Maybe i just came at the wrong time of the year!
google avatar

Rebecca T.

Yelp
We have gone here twice now, my partner really likes pie. They are also one of the only in the area that I know make gluten free pies of several varieties. We had the blueberry raspberry crumble and the chocolate chip cookie pie. The chocolate chip cookie was literally like the perfect chocolate cookie chip cookie would be, crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Both very good!
