Ann Arbor’s 11 Best Ice Cream Shops - Eater Detroit

"This South U shop serves trendy Thai rolled ice cream — a thin layer of milk mixed with different ingredients on a frigid griddle until creamy and rolled into a cup. Choose a flavor like Monkey Love (bananas and Nutella) and Sweetheart (strawberry and graham cracker) and add additional toppings for a decadent chilled treat." - John Reyes

A Guide to Ann Arbor’s Best Bubble Tea Shops - Eater Detroit

"This Ann Arbor staple has been around for a while, but it recently changed the game and increased its cup sizes. Sweeting offers a large variety of customizable flavors, choices between the traditional milk tea and a creamier British-style milk tea, and sweetness adjustments." - Steffi Cao

The dessert we ordered are delicious, not too sweet which is good for me.

Google
So I go there for my bobba all the time. I either get melon or Taro and never had a problem. But today I asked for matcha tea wity bobba and I was given Jasmine tea mixed with matcha. I HATE jasmine tea. Instead of the server apologizing he doubled down on saying no this is green tea without even trying it. Kinda annoying if you ask me because 1. This is not what I ordered, 2. The gaslighting was infuriating. Sigh. Why do you have to be like this?

Google
I love how authentic the menu is. My girls love their rolled ice cream. I’d really like to see them add smoothies with real fruit and not jellies. But the reason for the lost star is cleanliness. It’s a tiny location, very crowded, touch screens for ordering were visibly dirty and their were a couple of flies. It’s nice that the food prep area is completely separated by plexiglass but I’d prefer a bit more attention to cleaning in the post COVID era.

Google
I love their spicy street food, but this time, the plastic cover just broke into small pieces after I took them home! It happened to both of the dishes I ordered! And I had to pick these little pieces out very carefully. My guess is that the food was too hot and it somehow caused the cover to break, because the plastic is so thin. This is hazardous and a deal breaker to me. I liked their spicy food flavor, but please invest more in packaging!!! People shouldn't eat plastic with your food!

Google
We ordered brown sugar milk tea, watermelons boba tea, and winter melon milk tea. The boba was tender and perfect. I seen people comment about a "chemical taste" but I think I know what they are talking about. It wasn't overpowering but I was tasting a slight bitterness. Perhaps this was from the tea, sweetener or flavoring they use. It didn't ruin our drinks but it should definitely be looked into because I haven't tasted this to other bobas.

Google
They have a huge assortment of different Asian desserts. They're also the oldest establishment in Ann Arbor to sell bubble tea (Bubble Island was the first RIP) and still my favorite place in town to get it.

Google
Sakura Milk Tea is the best. No question! has been my first and favorite boba tea I ever had. I have worked as barista at many places and yet this Sakura milk tea is always always my favorite. :D

Google
Sweeting is known for their teas and other drinks, of which they have 100+ options. We didn't try any except BobaTea. Tucked on the back page, is a small appetiser and entrees menu. We ordered two appetisers (grilled Kalamari and octopus balls). Bother were about $5 each and tasted good, the Kalamari being very chewy. The entree was Eel Rice, which turned out good (about $12). The decor is nothing to write home about. Basically, it's a big room with a bunch of tables in it. Not very imaginatively designed decor but it works. Overall, they have good food, so-so decor, but a good vibe. The prices are really attractive. You can't go wrong with it!

Yelp
The boba sucks (too chewy and not a good flavor or balance) but the tea is flavored really well! I ordered the original milk tea with green tea as the base and it was delicious! I will not be getting boba here next time. It's ok but def not authentic tasting. The employee was nice and working the shift by herself. There were a lot of customers! There is some seating inside as well.

Yelp
A solid place to get some good bubble tea and other snacks. You order at a kiosk and someone prepares your drink and you pick up when ready. There is only 1 person we saw so the order does take some time. Both teas we tried were good a coconut milk tea and a lavender milk tea.
google avatar

Nicole Y.

Yelp
The boba here is actually not bad. The pearls are super soft and chewy, and there's a variety of flavors to choose from. I also got to try their entrees and am fairly impressed with how good they actually are. Ordered the curry chicken and the spicy green mussel. The curry was sweet despite it being yellow curry, which was not bad. The spicy green mussel comes with cellophane noodles and is drown in a spicy red sauce. The flavoring was really good and also taste really good when mixed with rice. There is a fair amount of mussels in the dish, like 6-7 pieces. The only complaint is that I noticed they upcharge the price on the Snackpass app when I compared it with the price on the kiosk. A bit disappointing to find out. While the dining area is a bit small, there is a total of 6-7 tables.

Yelp
This review is specifically about the rolled ice cream :) Came here after dinner to fill up that separate stomach for dessert. They have those giant touch screen ordering devices which make it easy to customize your order on your own. The rolled ice cream comes with 3 toppings and there are plenty of options including fruit, whipped cream, sprinkles, etc. It's $7.50 in total, which is a tad overpriced in my humble opinion. It took maybe 5-10 minutes to get our order. I got the matcha redbean with condensed milk, banana, and strawberry. One is plenty and I wish I had shared it. The rolled ice cream was...harder than I expected. Like it was difficult the get my spoon to cut through it and get a spoonful into my mouth. So wasn't a huge fan of the texture, but I enjoyed the novelty of it. And the flavor is amazing! Very matcha-y. My boyfriend had the taro and that flavor was amazing as well. I think it's hard to get a strong taro flavor, but this place did a great job. The toppings are good too, although I do wish they gave more but I understand then it probably wouldn't fit on the ice cream.

Yelp
This is a really cute Boba shop. They menu is tremendous. You can order from your phone or they have a self ordering kiosk in the lobby. My friend and I used the Kiosk, and it was really easy to navigate. I ended up getting a Boba and a rolled ice cream. Of course I came for the Boba but I honestly LOVED the Rolled Ice Cream maybe even more than the Boba. When your order is ready they have a nifty manual conveyer belt device. They put your order on the tray and you pull the cord until the tray reaches you, you remove your order and and then slide the tray back down to them. It is very easy to use. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating. We ended up sitting outside. Everything was great. The staff are very friendly. The only downside right now (because of COVID) is that you can't use their restroom. Check it out if you are in town, it's a great spot.

Yelp
After you've had bad bubble tea, you appreciate the good (pillow soft on the outside, Al dente on the inside). This place has the good stuff. The self ordering system is also really thorough and service is quick. Had the rose bubble milk tea with mango stars today. Yum. That is all.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to grab dessert! I've tried the rolled ice cream from here and each time it has been delicious. It is prepared quickly and I also like adding my own toppings!

Yelp
They use artificial Sweetingner at Sweeting, which is where the name comes from. But then is there any sweetener that isn't artificial? And I'm tired of all this unofficial art. It's time to make Artofficial. Am I right. I wasn't a fan of any of the bubble tea that I had in Ann Arbor. Which is a shame cuz it's a college town so I was hoping there would be some good stuff and there really wasn't. However this was by far the worst of the two especially in terms of service - honestly I got some of the worst service I can remember. They wouldn't give me a drink holder for starters. They had them, and insisted it was for people who ordered 4, and I only had 2 (and a bubble waffle). They made other people's drinks before mine. They had attitude issues. They didn't tell me when my stuff was ready. And just generally not very friendly at all. Prices are really good but unfortunately the products don't match them. They did absolutely nothing for me. I only give a neutral 3 because it's family owned, and they had Mochi ice cream.

Yelp
I just came for the ice cream rolls and it was goooooood! Before coming to Sweeting, I had never heard of the place. I think they used only serve tea and Asian pastries, but a recent Instagram post showed they were serving hand rolled ice cream, so I went for that. While waiting for my ice cream roll to be made, I noticed they also were serving up ramen, so it might be fun to go back and try them out for lunch one day! Overall, the ice cream rolls were pretty good. Not overly sweet like the kind I had in NYC and not nearly as expensive either. The only thing I will say is that it's a little crowded by the register and the ice cream roll section, because obviously everyone wants to watch their ice cream be rolled ;) Other than that, it's not too bad! It's also located on South University so totally away from most things I do in Ann Arbor, but, it was very busy in there so it seems like a pretty hot spot for students!

Yelp
I have tried them twice now and I love their bubble tea! I got traditional taro with strawberry bubbles this time. Always delicious and quickly prepared. My brother got honeydew melon with mango bubbles. He really enjoyed his also. I love the taro flavor! Note: Paying by card has a small fee.
google avatar

Yonit R.

Yelp
I've only tried the Milk tea and boba, but I really enjoyed it. As far as covid, they were super cautious- they had a little trolley to deliver your drinks to you! Great location, staff is super nice, and a great little pick me up! I would say, its a little overpriced though
google avatar

Yelp
The special thing about this place is that there really isn't any other place like it! They offer a genuine Hong Kong desserts and it is generally pretty authentic. I got the mango and sweet balls dessert and was very tasty! I think that the downsides are the quality isn't super great and the environment is pretty low quality. They discovered that there is a quality that students don't care about beyond that they don't really try to hard. Wish that quality and cleanliness would be a little bit better but not a terrible experience!

Yelp
This place is DELICIOUS. I really almost gave five stars, but the process on their desserts are insane. My go-to items: -Rose milk tea. This is always a favorite of mine when it comes to bubble tea, and Sweeting does not disappoint. -Fried dumplings. They're pork, they're fried, and they're sooo good. They come with this amazing sauce to dip them in. -Mango and sweet balls. This is such a yummy summer dessert; I'd buy it all the time if it weren't almost $10! It's chopped up mango pieces and these balls kind of like a really dense sticky rice, just swimming in a bowl of mango smoothie-like juice. So cold and refreshing!

Erin P.

Yelp
I got a strawberry drink and some fried shumai earlier today and my experience was not the greatest. Nobody was wearing masks or gloves (and it felt so unsanitary and not COVID-friendly because the employees were just continually talking without masks while making the food). Also, the employees took a really long time to make my said drink and shumai (around 20-25+ minutes?) .... when I was top in line lol. Cost me $11+ and lesson learned. Always check your surroundings before you order, and check if it's COVID safe before you make a purchase. I'm adding on one star because I love fried shumai (in general) and it was good (though I'm not sure if it's worth the money lmao). The drink was alright but I felt bad about eating it due to the unhygienic conditions... definitely not coming here again.

Yelp
So yummy loved the bubble tea we got the original milk tea and the coffee milk tea we also really loved the dumplings the dough of the dumplings was delicious 10/10!!! And to add on we loved the cute character on the lid!

Yelp
Best curry chicken(Japanese) in AA. Highly recommended! Nice portion, great sauce, well cooked rice, and crunchy chicken!

Yelp
I've been here a couple times and despite the overwhelmingly large menu, I've tried enough to be able to finally throw my two cents in regarding this bubble tea/ice cream/Asian dessert fusion shop. First: they have a gigantic menu. You'll find an extensive list of teas but also rolled ice cream, ramen, a plethora of Asian sweets, and the bubble teas come in British style (creamier and just better tasting imo) or regular (more tea and water based). Second: I hate their rolled ice cream. Chocolate was a total miss unless you enjoy fake non creamy chocolate flavor. Strawberry was another miss because the graham mix in ruins it and even after I requested it without, they didn't take it out of the mix in! Ew! I got a grainy honey graham flavor that I really wasn't seeking when I wanted fresh and light strawberry. Matcha didn't astound either. For the price, this is just bad. Rolled ice cream in Columbus and Philly have both tasted better so I'm not sure what they are doing to the batter here, and I feel like they should've warned me that they couldn't take the graham out of the strawberry before making me drop $6 on something I hated. So yes, customer service isn't great either. Third: Delicious bubble tea at least. Not the best and can't compete with established chains like KFT or even ChaTime, but it's the best around the Ann Arbor area. Maybe they can think about adding salted cheese/cream to their teas since that's an up and coming trend? Could really make their tea stand out a bit more. Bubbles are okay. Ask for the tea to be half sweet because it's sickly sick at full sugar. Fourth: Fairly tasty desserts. Definitely get the new mango creme mochi thing. The skin tastes more like crepe than mochi (I'm almost positive that ain't mochi) but nonetheless it's light, refreshing, and perfect for dessert lovers who like lighter tasting desserts!! Lastly: cute atmosphere and great place to come hangout with friends or family. Plus there's so much to see and do just walking around the area. Nothing like Umich campus, as much as I hate having to admit it since I'm OSU fan through and through. 4/5 for being cute and tasty but not 5/5 because that rolled ice cream is completely underwhelming. Hope this review was helpful - the menu is anxiety inducing!

Yelp
This is probably one of the better boba shops on campus, but still not great. My go-to drink is the taro frostea + bubbles ($5.31), but the more and more I get it, the less flavor it has. It kinda tastes like melted heavy whipping cream. I've also tried their Matcha frostea and british matcha bubble tea and both do not have much flavor. The bubble tea version tastes pretty close to colored water. I feel like most of their drinks are probably good, but these are the select few that weren't great when I got them. I like this place because they offer other desserts like rolled ice cream and HK style desserts. The H9, mango and sweet balls, is $8.28 for something so small. It is one of my favorite desserts when I go to Asia; I always look forward to eating these types of desserts, so I was really happy when I found out that Sweeting serves them. But for what I paid for I was pretty disappointed, the price they offer it at is honestly not worth it. I would justify it if it was ~$5-6 but $8 is just too much for something that small. In addition, the sweet balls were so hard, I do not think they were cooked all the way through before serving it to us. I have never tried their actual food here, but they do have food + drink/dessert combos which is pretty nice and saves money.

Yelp
This place will definitely fill your boba fix but it's nothing to write home about. I guess people have complained about their boba being too hard but the pearls in my drink were a littler too chewy for my liking. The tea was fine but not particularly strong or flavorful. Their menu does have a lot of offerings so I'd definitely come back to try some other stuff. The chicken and pork katsu curry look good!

Yelp
This past summer I went to Sweetings every day, and although approximately $1000 poorer, I regret none of my purchases. What I appreciate about Sweeting is its attempt at creating a more comfortable environment where people can not only sit and chat but also study. They have free WiFi that is available at the cashier area, and sitting and enjoying boba while doing work is always enjoyable. Closer to night time, I don't appreciate how their area can get extremely loud so that neither conversation nor work can be done. They have an extensive selection of boba at Sweeting, where they can be hot, cold, or frozen! Their boba is literally made right in front of you and it's not that expensive. Although their flavors are nice and the they have a lot of variety, I don't like how their boba tastes powdery sometimes and when they had an old batch of boba, the tapioca tastes soggy and hard at the same time. I personally have never had their food there or the hand rolled ice cream, but I've heard good things about both! Overall, since their boba is pretty good I'd give this place a 4 Star review if you come when they have fresh boba.
google avatar

Jenny H.

Yelp
I have never had the food at here, but have had their dessert. The rolled ice cream (matcha!) is pretty good here; you also get two free toppings to go along with it. The other HK style desserts are just decent. As for bubble tea, I'd rather go across the street and go to Bubble Island.
google avatar

Edna C.

Yelp
Hmmm.... good idea, poor execution. The light and deliciously unique genre of HK desserts brings variety to the Ann Arbor food scene, but unfortunately our order of the house special taro balls brought down my enthusiasm from 4/5-star anticipation to 2-star disappointment. Pricing wasn't cheap (~$6), and both quality and quantity were missing :/ - The chief complaint? There were no taro balls! It consisted of a mixture of boba, grass jelly, red bean, and orange chewy chunks not otherwise specified (closest thing to taro balls, but not really) - Proportion of toppings to milk was off, like too little cereal with too much milk - There's the option to get it warm or cold; we choose warm but it turned out room temperature The decor is kitschy with cafe doodles painted along the green walls. One side features a collage of posters, some related to Michigan but most of them quite random. The verdict? Nice place to hang out and satisfy your Asian dessert cravings in Michigan. A handful of desserts look decent, though I would recommend against taro balls.
google avatar

Joyce L.

Yelp
Sweetings had a major upgrade! Rolling ice cream is now in Michigan thanks to Sweetings. I think it is a good dessert to treat yourself because it is on the expensive side. Sweetings overall has good customer service and I usually get lavender bubble tea because it has that "new flavor". I recommend it to anyone who likes unique snacks or even desserts that melt in your mouth!
google avatar

Christine E.

Yelp
I was here a few years ago and got the milk tea with boba and I really liked it. I came back the other day and unfortunately was not impressed. The atmosphere itself feels run down and the drinks we got weren't good. I got a mango green tea with sago. The green tea with mango was okay but the sago was very odd. The texture wasn't what I am used to. My husband had a milk tea and it wasn't sweet at all. Since CoCo Fresh opened we have been there several time and we just like that a lot better.
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
It's really nice to have a non-bar, late night hangout place. The seating is pretty comfortable, and the Taiwanese snack options are pretty unique. The drinks and desserts are not good. THey are a bit watery, and mostly made of the powder stuff. I appreciate that you can customize the sweetness levels, but that's not enough to entice me to try any more of the boba drinks. The brewed teas are ok. I would mainly come here for the hot snacks, such as the fried chicken and some of the noodle dishes.
google avatar

Crystal H.

Yelp
Their boba tea taste authentic but their prices are pretty steep for the size you get. Sweeting also offers traditional Asian desserts, but also the prices are outrageous for what is served to you. I guess, growing up and living in the PNW, we have boba on every corner so the prices are cheaper or at least is relative to their size.
google avatar

Dee M.

Yelp
We tried the regular British and taro tea. I liked my taro tea with litchi jelly. The British tea was not sweet enough even with 50% sugar.

Megan P.

Yelp
Haven't tried food but ice cream and bubble were unsatisfactory. Taste and texture were just not there overall
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
We were just walking by and saw that they did rolled ice cream and bubble tea. We stopped in and everyone was super nice. It was really fast and the bubble tea was really great and the rolled ice cream was so good. The food smelled amazing but didn't try any. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Aditi R.

Yelp
It's probably not an exaggeration to say that Sweeting saved my life. I'm a Computer Science major, and you know what that means: sugar and caffeine are the mainstays of my existence. However, there is only so much hot chocolate a person can ingest, and it gets tedious after a while. Enter Sweeting, with its array of flavours Starbucks can only dream of. I'm a huge lychee fan, and Sweeting has the second-best lychee green tea I've tasted (sorry, but nobody can beat Fantasia in my hometown of San Jose). I also love the ginger milk tea: I drink it hot, and it's a little bit like chai, except with boba and no black pepper or cinnamon. In terms of food, Sweeting makes great fresh fruit mochi - I like the mango and banana flavours best. The fish noodle soup is also a very hearty dinner which packs all the necessary food groups: fish, noodles, pickled vegetables, and SPICE. Can't go wrong with it.
google avatar

Uche N.

Yelp
I got the chocolate milk tea (British style) and it was very good. First time drinking bubble tea and I really enjoyed it.
google avatar

Julia L.

Yelp
People are always comparing sweeting's and bubble island. I would say all the powdered drinks at sweeting's taste either too floral or watery. But I don't mind their regular milk tea or their fruit smoothies (although they use a lot of syrup in that..). One good thing they have is the variety of toppings! More than just bubbles, they have pudding and grass jelly if you're in the mood for something different!
google avatar

Wun K.

Yelp
Ordered green milk tea with half sugar and less ice. Got some diluted tea-flavor WATER instead. Donald Trump can do a better job if he were to be a milk tea barista.
google avatar

Greta S.

Yelp
Sweeting is an ok store for bubble tea. I haven't tried their rolled ice cream or their desserts, but I've heard good things about the desserts and noodle dishes as well. As far as bubble tea, my friend and I went twice during our stay because she really loved it, but I found that it tasted powdery and the boba was hit or miss in terms of freshness. Not bad but not the best boba in town. Cute store though! I love that it's almost set up like a coffee shop and really feels like I could study here if I lived in Ann Arbor. Atmosphere is really nice!
google avatar

Sonia J.

Yelp
I came here during the week on a Wednesday around 5:30 and there wasn't many people there. The staff was friendly and helped me to select some light options. I decided to go with a traditional coffee bubble tea and went with some steamed dumplings. Both options tasted pretty average. I noticed they have rolled ice cream that I would try next time. Overall this is a good place if you want to study or do some work and need a quick snack.
google avatar

Ethan L.

Yelp
The only reason to go here is because there isn't any other bubble tea place in Ann Arbor other than Bubble Island. The food is pretty bad, definitely don't get the food. The ramen is pretty bad, rather just buy insta noodles. The Katsu is pretty bad too.My friend almost choked trying to eat it. The bubble tea and rolled ice cream here are meh. I would only go here if I really need to get bubble tea or want some cool pictures of the rolled ice cream. It is also a very good place to just chill with friends. They even have board games and cards to play with. Other than that, not worth coming.
google avatar

Inara I.

Yelp
So cool to have a place on campus that makes rolled ice cream! I had the matcha red bean and it was really tasty! My friend had the taro milk tea and was happy with it- said it tasted less artificial than other places she's tried. It wasn't the cheapest bubble tea I've ever had and the cashier was kind of frantic and fast which made me super anxious when ordering, but that's just a personal experience. It's a cute place to come hang out but I probably wouldn't come to casually study (too loud). Would come to hang with friends over some good bubble tea and cool ice cream.
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
This was supposed to be my mango black sticky rice. Waited 20 mins andwas the only one ordered and they still got it wrong. Sooo disappointed.
google avatar

Virginia L.

Yelp
This is no longer called Sweetology, their new name is Sweeting. Walked in and the place was pretty empty maybe 4 other people. We moved from so cal and it's been hard to even find a boba spot. We ordered the almond milk tea (original) with boba, passion fruit green tea, and their mango and grass jelly dessert. Their boba reminds me of boba from Tapioca express. Nothing special, but can satisfy the craving. It was a little hard, so I would say the boba isn't fresh. Most likely been sitting out for awhile. The almond milk tea and passion fruit green tea was good. Meaning it wasn't amazing, but good enough for me. I'm really picky when it comes to food/drinks and if it isn't good I won't eat/drink it. The dessert on the other hand was weird. The flavor was off and a bit questionable. We didn't finish it and wouldn't order it again. I thought it would be mango chunks only but it was a little saucy. Not sure what that was. Metered parking out front.

Yelp
This place is right by my office, so I often meet with students here to get out of the school building. I have been missing it something awful. However, if you do stop, by they are paying great attention to safety during COVID. So many great flavors; I love the Thai Iced Tea, the Rose, or the Sakura, while my partners like more of the fruit options. Bibles ways, of course. Folks are super nice there and they use flock cards, which is a good bonus if you go often.
google avatar

Wid A.

Yelp
FYI, I'm basing this review only on one product... Food: had the matcha lady rolled ice cream. The whole thing was $7. Would definitely recommend with red bean, boba and condensed milk. The ice cream isn't as rich, creamy, and flavorful as usual. And they don't have a large variety of toppings (pictures show mochi bits but that wasn't even an option) Location: lots of seating and very cute. Located close to campus

Yelp
It's been awhile since I've been to Sweeting, and today was the first day I've been back. Since my last visit, the drinks have gotten better. I got a Taro Frostea and my boyfriend got a Coffee British Styled Milk Tea. Surprisingly, the Frostea wasn't icy like the last time I had it. It's more flavorful and more blended so it's not just pure ice. Also, my boyfriend thought his Coffee Milk Tea wasn't too watered down. However, I haven't tried their Matcha Milk tea in awhile so hopefully my next visit, the drink ill be delicious. Also, since the last time I've been back, the price of their Rolled Ice Cream has decreased by $1. Although it's more pricier than Chicago, this is definitely a steal since AA doesn't have any other Rolled Ice Cream shops. The reason why I still can't give Sweeting a 5 star is due to the price of their Hong Kong Style desserts. Although they are very delicious, they're really small for their cost. Their Mango and Sweet Balls is about $8. If they lowered the price, I will definitely be back more often. Everything has changed which is definitely something I'm very happy about. I'll definitely come back more for the bubble if the taste of the Frostea stays the same and the milk teas are less watered down.

Yelp
Asian desserts in Michigan? No way!!! Apparently the Asian population at the u of Michigan is 14.5% thus, the demographically appropriate venue of Hong Kong style desserts is a must visit. Getting a boba milk tea with red bean ice cream rolls after dinner is just what I needed. The order taker/cashier seemed miserable and unfriendly, like she'd been working there all day without a break! Her face was like you asked her to change a diaper. Spent almost $45 though. Good, but won't go back for the attitude.
google avatar

Coleton D.

Yelp
Such a unique place for several reasons, but lacks some of the quality aspects. Price: Rolled ice cream is $6 and can only choose two toppings. For that price, I would allow people to include as many toppings as they want because the cup can only fit so many. Order strawberries as a topping, you'll get one maybe two chopped up. Interior: This is where the place is lacking. They try to be a hangout place, but the restaurant could use some work. Half the experience of getting rolled ice cream is watching it be made, but it's thrown in the corner with some clear glass so you can watch but they can only make one at a time in the small space. There's some old couches in here that people can sit on but have definitely seen their fair share of wear. Variety: They offer soups, rolled ice cream and DIY bubble tea which offers a little bit of something for everyone.

Yelp
Sweeting (formally know as sweetology and momo tea) offers a variety of bubble tea flavors. If you're like me and like iced bubble tea there aren't very many flavors. I've been here at least ten times and every time the tea is different. I get the same thing every time. Some days it's good and some days it's just not as good. I can't say anything about the food because I haven't had it. Whenever we go in it doesn't seem like people are eating it. I have had one of the desserts, the banana Mochi and it was pretty good. The atmosphere and very nice and perfect to hang out with friends or to have a study session. Overall I really like this place and would recommend it. I just wish that they were more consistent with their bubble tea.

Yelp
I'd like to think I'm a qualified evaluator of bubble tea. I didn't know that this bubble tea experience would also engage my pet-keeping skills. While rolling in my car with the homies, my vibe was metaphorically crapped on when my bubble tea was literally crapped on. Yes. April 23rd, 2018, rat deposits literally entered my mouth cavity through the straw of my sweeting's bubble tea. This place is simply doing the least amount of work possible. It took 32 stabs at the top of my bubble tea to finally penetrate a hole in the plastic. Invest. In. Quality. Straws. The place opened approximately 8 minutes late which not only threw my schedule off, but also put me in not one, not two, but three uncomfortable positions when I had to continue to walk up to the door and strain the door handle. All in all, a good visit. Update: turns out the rat deposits were lil sprigs of lavender but the feeling of disgust remains

Yelp
I've never had such awful boba before. Both the tea and tapioca were awful. I am pretty spoiled by socal bubble tea so I may be a harsher critic than normal. If you actually think their boba is good I feel sorry for you. You have not experienced what boba should actually taste like. Sorry for your loss.

Yelp
I am very very happy with the new renovation / updated menu. I have been there 4 times already and it's always busy (the patrons are mostly Asians, which means it's authentic!) I am obsessed with the new Hong Kong desserts and I have tried about 5 of them. So far my favorites are all mango related - Mango Mochi (it says mochi but it's the wrap is more like a crepe texture and the whip cream inside is not too sweet, very light, and fresh mango). The mango sago cream & pomelo is another one of my favorite and it is very refreshing, a great dessert for summertime especially. I have also tried the purple sweet potato & sago....it is a hot dessert and I could not finish myself because it tasted almost like soup (like summer squash soup or sweet potato soup). I prefer the fruity/cold ones. All the desserts seem fairly healthy as the ingredients are ones that are good your health. I haven't really tried the milk teas or smoothies much - I would imagine those recipes haven't changed much. -1 star for the price of the dessert - a lot of them are $7.55 which is almost the same price as a tiramisu @ La Dolce Vita on Main Street. However, the desserts are made with fresh ingredients and made on the spot so I guess that kind of justifies it. Also there is no competition right now in the AA area so they can make the price as high as they want and I will still go there (just not as frequently for the sake of wallet).

Yelp
I love that Sweeting has Hong Kong style desserts! I love the mango sago pomelo dessert and the mango and sweet balls dessert! Their boba is just okay, but I personally like it better than Bubble Island. It's not as sweet and tastes less artificial than Bubble Island which is a big plus for me! 10/10 recommend their desserts though!! A bit overpriced but worth it to me!
