Evan was great! We hired her to make our wedding cake. It was definitely a bit of short notice compared to how far in advance most bakeries request orders be in for wedding cakes. I contacted Sweets by E and Evan was very quick to respond to my first inquiry and any communication thereafter. We got vanilla on vanilla cake with fresh strawberry’s. It looked beautiful, but also tasted great. You will not regret going with Sweets by E. 😊

We hired Sweets by E for our wedding and Evan did a tremendous job of creating our wedding cake. We didn’t have a specific design in mind, but had some basic ideas that we were able to send over to Evan along with our color scheme. By the time we saw the cake the day of the wedding, it was exactly what we dreamed it would be. The bride is still amazed with how it was the exact cake she imagined it would be. Regarding flavors, Evan had some of the most unique (and best) cake flavors we tried of all the vendors we contacted. The only problem we had with Sweets By E is that it took us a while to schedule a call with Evan. This was due to us being in a different timezone and only being able to talk in the evening. After those initial phone calls, communication was not an issue and Evan was really easy to talk with over email.

I hate writing negative reviews… but I had really high hopes for our grooms cake and was SO disappointed with the end result. We were hoping for something that looked like a wine bottle and ended up with what looked like a green ketchup bottle. It tasted okay, but I was very relieved that we were serving it at our rehearsal dinner and that it wasn’t going to be displayed at our wedding reception because it was laughable really.

Evan took my two pictures of ideas and matched them together perfectly. The buttercream was also so tasty, which is hard to find. I would buy a cake from her again. Feb 2024 - Ordered another birthday cake from Evan. She made me a rainbow striped cake on the outside and the inside. We had to freeze it the day of pickup due to a bad illness, but it was amazing tasting still and unfrozen without issue a week later. Her buttercream is really tasty and not too sweet.

Beautiful cake and cookies for my best friends baby shower by Evan and Salem! I gave them creative freedom to make beautiful art for a woodland themed baby shower. The mom to be absolutely loved them! Cake was cinnamon - a recent craving that was definitely satisfied. Evan and Salem were easy to work with and very responsive to my initial inquiry. Sweets By E came through for us, not once but twice, and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of both of the cakes she created for our events. Not only is Evan a skilled baker and decorator, she is a professional, and a super sweet person. She was responsive to every email I sent and she made it a point ensure she delivered what we asked for, even down to a crazy specific flower that was impossible to find. But the bride wanted it, so the bride got it. Our bridal shower cake was on point. The decor, the flavors, everything, and all I really did was show her a photo of what we had in mind. Same for the wedding cake. I will absolutely be going to her anytime I need a cake for an event. She was a huge part of both of the special events in our family and we cannot thank her enough.

Evan made a beautiful wedding cake and cupcakes for my son's wedding. They were absolutely delicious. We have comments from our guests that those were the best cupcakes that they have ever had. Her prices are also reasonable.

Ordered a regular cake as well as a smash cake for our little one's first birthday party and they turned out beautifully! Not only did our guests comment on how beautiful they looked, but also how delicious they tasted. Evan was very easy to work with and I must admit I was a little nervous about giving her full reign on the design but so glad I did! Will definitely be ordering more cakes from her in the future!

Evan was easy to work with. Price is reasonable and the quality is great. Cake and cupcakes were beautiful and moist. Chocolate flavor was amazing! It was a gender reveal cake and Evan did an ombre pink cake inside with fresh strawberries cream filling. It was delicious and awesome!

Evan did such an amazing job for my nieces birthday. It was above and beyond everything I could have imagined & she absolutely loved the cake! Everyone did! It was not only beautifully decorated but DELICIOUS as well! My niece wanted a vanilla cake with strawberry filling and Evan's strawberry filing was to die for. Also Evan was so professional and sweet. I sent her an inquiry a little over a week out and she responded quickly. She followed strict COVID rules, which was amazing as well. Wow!!! We got the most incredible cake for our son's first birthday!! With such a beautiful cake on the outside, we had modest expectations for the taste of the cake but were blown away!! It was delish!!! We received RAVE reviews from all of our party guests and it really was such a hit. To top it off, the service was great and she was so easy to work with!!! Thank you!!

Evan has been doing my sons birthday cakes for 3 years now; she's super kind, easy to communicate with, and makes your ideas for a cake come to life within your budget. I refer others to her if they're looking for a custom cake. The drive is a little far out from where I am, but it's worth it to me. Cakes are delicious also!! Highly recommend her!

I decided to go with Evan for the cake for my daughter's baby shower based on other reviews I'd seen. So very happy I did! I sent her a few pictures of the invitations and other decorations we were using for our "under the sea" themed shower for our soon-to -be-arriving granddaughter. She replicated them beautifully for the cake. It was adorable, and everyone raved about it. The picture doesn't do it justice, as there are many more cute sea creatures all around. I am generally not a fan of bakery cakes. They are often overly sweet and a bit dry. But this creation was not only lovely, it was delicious. We had two flavors, chocolate with coffee cream filling and vanilla with strawberries and cream filling. Both were excellent. Her fillings in particular are flavorful and generous. The fresh fruit was a nice touch. Evan is easy to work with, usually quick to respond to questions or issues, and I would happily contact her again the next time I need a special cake.

Wedding Cake update - October 2017 - Evan did a fantastic job on the wedding cake for my daughter's wedding at the Army Navy Club. Both flavors were fantastic - moist, just the right amount of sweetness, memorable. The Funfetti with buttercream was playfully colorful, the Chocolate w/Raspberry was perfect. There was no drama, timing issues or plating concerns. The prices were great - this baker is a treasure! Evan was also able to recommend a baker to do the cake balls for the reception & 'day of' luncheon - Amy with Itty Bitty Cake Co.

Evan made a spectacular wedding cake for my daughter's wedding, tall and elegant with a simple flower on the side of each tier. It was a chocolate and peanut butter and everyone raved about it and with reason: it was rich, dense, moist, and just the right amount of sweetness.

I ordered a custom "art deco/Gatsby" cake for a friend's 40th birthday, and it exceeded my expectations! It was exactly what I asked for (easy on the fondant, specific design), and tasted delicious. I absolutely recommend Sweets by E !

Sweets By E made Sesame Street cupcakes and a smash cake for my son's first birthday. They were delicious and completely adorable.

Great cakes and great customer service. E was responsive and was willing to work with me to chat through the best options for my daughter's 1st birthday. She even threw in a smash cake! I've ordered my kids' cakes from her since she was in Herndon and now even if she's a bit further, it's well worth the drive to have the right cake for my special occasions!

I contacted Evan about 1 week away from the event. I send my "inspiration" pictures and flavors. She was very flexible and open. I was not picky about the cake at all. As long as it had the colors and elements I was looking for. She did put on real live flowers which was a PLUS. THE CAKE WAS BEAUTIFUL. It was a little dry. But everyone loved it. Flavor was vanilla.

The cake was a MASSIVE hit! It was as delicious as it was beautiful. Evan made exactly what we asked for and my aunt was so happy with her birthday cake.

Evan did a wonderful job with our wedding cake. It was delicious and gorgeous! My husband and I were so happy with everything. We did a vanilla with strawberries and cream for the 3-tier cake and German chocolate for a sheet cake. So yummy! She is such a pleasure to work with, very nice, and I would absolutely go back to her with any cake needs again. I even had a snafu with misplacing the cake toppers (my error) and nobody knew because how great the top was decorated on the fly. We also enjoyed every flavor we tried during the tasting and feel like you can't go wrong with her choices. Thanks Evan!

I was looking for a simple cake for a small wedding of 20-25 - though it ended up being 19! She was more than willing to work with me (where many other bakeries said they wouldn't make a cake that small!) Evan was timely getting back to me by email, phone, or text. My fiance and I had a hard time deciding on what flavor we wanted as they were all amazing! We settled on chocolate cake with coffee filling, it was TO-DIE-FOR. She was even kind enough to make my mother her own cupcake with a different type of frosting because of a soy allergy! The day we picked up the cake we accidentally dropped the cupcake on the way to the car and she was more than happy to re-piped the frosting for us - crisis averted! My cake looked exactly as I had described to her .. like a tree trunk with our initials carved into the side inside a heart. I would HIGHLY recommend her for your next event!

Got a cake from E for my daughters first birthday and it was so perfect! From the look of it to the taste it was very impressive and her prices are reasonable compared to other bakeries in the area that i feel aren't close to as good. Would definitely recommend and she gave threw in a free smash cake which was a sweet surprise!

I ordered a cake for a 30th birthday party and was so pleased with the ease of this order. We were able to complete the entire process via email which is so nice and I sent payment via PayPal - so easy. The quality of the cake was wonderful. I ordered a custom cake that looked like a jim beam bottle and was not disappointed. It was awesome and tasted delicious (funfetti cake w/buttercream frosting). I swung by the bake shop Evan works out of in Herndon and was in and out in 5 mins. I will recommend Sweets by E to anyone and hopefully will use her again for more events!

I had a (small) wedding cake made by Evan and it was just great. The process was very easy and she was very easy to communicate with, even about somewhat odd kinds of questions. She made some really great suggestions about how the cake should look. I had fairly high expectations looks-wise but it was even prettier than I thought it would be but the best 'surprise' was how delicious it was! A beautifully moist and surprisingly light carrot cake. I also thought that the price was very reasonable. So full marks all the way around!

Ordered an elaborate three tiered cake, based on an inspiration picture. Got exactly what I dreamed of. So so happy with the outcome. Would use again and recommend to anyone.

I initially contacted Sweets by E because she was close to my wedding venue, which was out in Bluemont, VA. I was hoping she made great cakes, but that was to be determined. I really wanted to find a baker who made moist cakes with delicious frosting and fillers that were not too sweet or too waxy. Evan (aka E) has a wide variety of cake flavors, fillings, and frosting types to choose from, ALL of them are DELICIOUS! I mean super super yummy. I was floored how good every single one of them was! It made it hard to choose my three flavors! I knew immediately that she was my gal. I wanted a wedding cake that would knock peoples socks off. Evan not only made me three different layers of perfectly moist, flavorful, sweet cakes but she also did an absolutely AMAZING job on the design of the cake: smooth ivory fondant with petals and pearls on each of the three layers, matching the petal color to my bridesmaid dresses almost exactly. I honestly could not have asked for more. Everything about my wedding cake was perfect. And, to top it off, she does a free One Year Anniversary cake. Sweets by E is a no brainer.

Sweet by E did the cupcakes and cake topper for my wedding. I chose her for a number of reasons. First, she has pricing options for all types of budgets. Two, I saw great reviews on line. Three, she responded to me relatively quickly from my first inquiry. Lastly, and most importantly, after going for a tasting I found out the cupcakes were amazing! I enjoyed working with Evan from the start. We exchanged a number of emails to answer all my questions about wedding cupcakes, flavors, delivery and pricing. She was always prompt in responding and explained everything thoroughly. I was sold on using Sweets By E after I went in for the tasting. I didn't really know what I wanted so Evan asked me lots of questions and helped me come up with what would work best. T here are a ton of flavors to choose from and all four that I tasted were delicious. What I liked most about the cupcakes is they are actually edible. So many places have these giant cupcakes with tons of frosting that are more for show than actually eating. The cupcakes at Sweets By E weren't small by any means but they weren't over sized, perfect for eating at a wedding while mingling and they looked great while on display. We chose 3 flavors my wedding and I had compliments on them all. I would use Sweets By E again if I ever needed a cake or cupcakes again. Highly recommend.
