Came here on a Thursday. Was seated right away and the vibe and people were pretty awesome. Started with two cocktails which were nice and well balanced. We order fries to start and each got our own main meal. She got the salad and I ordered the bowl. Boy oh hoy the food was amazing. It warmed my soul. We definitely be back!!

Food: 6/10 wishing for more. Loco Moco lacked salt and flavor in general. Short ribs were tender. Soup was not memorable. Poke was decent. Drinks: 7.2/10 Was excited to see Painkillers on the cocktail menu. They can make them on the rocks or frozen. Ambiance: 8.4/10 Nice outdoor area in the warm months. Colorful. Staff: Wonderful experience with the staff. They are all beautiful people. All very stylish, sweet and made sure to look you in the eyes.

A very nice bar/restaurant in Park slope. I enjoyed the food and drinks here. The truffle fries are delicious and the poke is tasty and fresh. The Belgian wit beer was a nice beer to try, as well as the GOWANUS has a unique and distinctive taste. Great customer service and turnaround time. I like the variety of food options and drinks offered at this bar/restaurant.

Everything I ate was really good and flavorful. The ambiance is really stunning and the waitress with the color color hair is so nice. Now on to the bad… 1. The drink that one of ordered was una is le because they didn’t have arugula. The tall Spanish guy came and was so rude about it didn’t even apologize and walked away. To order the other drink too an eternity and at the end of the night both drinks were on the bill and again no apologies for the mistake. 2. Our food was served first when we clearly had ordered appetizers and entrees I asked the short Spanish guy if our appetizer would be out since I was surprised our entree came out first he got annoyed and said it all be out. They came out a few minutes later and now we had everything at once. What’s the point of ordering a starter when you get everything together and again no apologies. We had to wait a go of 45 minutes to flag someone to order dessert which took another 45 minutes to arrive. We had to wait 15 minutes to get out check. The apologies with the dessert is that their kitchen is small and their prioritizing food orders, had they said that from the beginning I would have cancelled the dessert vs waiting almost 2 hours for it. At no point did they care about making it up or giving us good customer service.

The food was great. The best food I had there was the Chicken Katsu. It is crispy and the sauce was great. I wish there was more gravy on the Loco Moco and it is thicker. The fries was crispy. The corn off the cob was a huge surprise for me. It was really good.

this solo diner/drinker wanted a place to read and or people watch. but also to hear herself think. maybe it was a slow night (a summer Wednesday) - but with hearsay, complex boozy cocktails and some fun fries to keep me company - I found it idyllic. music was so good I kept hitting shazam. the perfect spot for a good time. it’s beautiful here.

The place is cute with a nice atmosphere. The service was great and we were seated right away for Saturday night dinner. The cocktail menu is extensive and the drinks were very good. We ordered the tater tots appetizer, which comes with a mayo-based sauce. It didn't really remind me of a tater tot in any way. It was more like a latke/potato pancake in a ball shape and the inside seemed undercooked. The appetizer also came out at the same time as the entrees. I had the Kahlua pork plate and the pork was incredibly tender and juicy. But there wasn't a lot of flavor to it, I wish the lomi lomi had some spice to it. The macaroni salad had an overwhelming mayo flavor. Someone at the table ordered the chicken sandwich and another person had chicken tacos and both raved about the fried chicken. Overall I thought the food was underwhelming but I might come back to try other dishes.

This spot gets an A+ for the ambiance! The truffle fries are a MUST (we ordered 2). The drinks were cute but pretty basic. The server was really nice & welcoming. Definitely a nice date night spot or some place to catch up with a friend, with low music & nice lighting it sets the mood.

Super cute spot with great cocktails and Hawaiian food. Who doesn't love a poke bowl these days? Favorite things on the menu were the Taro chips and Furikake fries. I enjoyed my poke too but it's hard to compete with the the poke chains these days where you can completely customize your order by handpicking each ingredient. Don't leave without trying their Malasada dessert. It's a big chunk of fried dough that you can dip into passion fruit or Nutella cream. Says to order it in advance as it might take some time to make it but we got it in about five minutes and it was definitely worth that wait. One star off for slightly slow service. It didn't seem like a very busy night when we were there but getting the waitress' attention could take some time. There were so many other delicious sounding things on the menu that I'll definitely be back for more.

My husband and I wanted to try something outside of the normal fare we usually get so when I found this Hawaiian spot, we were excited to try it. It's a cute little spot with indoor and outdoor dining option with a full bar with bar seating as well. My husband really wanted the loco moco, which we haven't had in years since visiting Hawaii. I ordered the KAHUKU SHRIMP TRUCK and we shared the Furikake Fries. Sad to report the fries were the only thing that was good. The shrimp was ok but, the mac salad and lomi lomi that came with the platter was not good. The loco moco was so disappointing. It lacked taste and flavor and the beef patty was so bland and tough. We also ordered the malasada for dessert and for $12 it was not what we expected. It's basically a fried donut with the passion fruit pastry cream and nutella on a side condiment container instead of inside the actual dough. A real malasada has it inside like a stuffed donut, not on the side. Drinks were ok but nothing special. This meal was way too pricey for what we ate and sadly we both left having no desire to return.

Visited Sweet Talk because I was seeing a show at the Bell House. It's a cute Hawaiian restaurant with friendly servers. We sat outside (weather was warmer at this time!) and ordered drinks and apps. I had higher hopes for the wings, I remember thinking they were just fine. The poke chips were good--big pieces of tuna! I just wish there were even more. Cocktails were tasty but a little pricy. The kalbi ribs with rice and Mac salad was okay. If I were to return I would probably make different choices. I had a favorite Hawaiian spot in Queens that has since closed, but I don't necessarily think Sweet Talk is moving up the ranks and taking its spot.

wonderful dinner at Sweet Talk in Brooklyn,, a Hawaiian place where we had toro nachos, beef, tuna and chicken tacos (which I named "the land sea and air special) and strong strong drinks. Very cute interior with a big covered patio on the side.

My husband and I were in the mood for something different, so we decided to check out Sweet Talk. We absolutely fell in love with the place! The decor inside was beautiful and really easy on the eyes, and the overall ambiance was fantastic. We were there for the live music featuring The Buff Bunnies, and they totally rocked our evening. The food was fresh and delicious, with some cool twists on classics like tacos and elote off the cob. And let me tell you, the dessert was a delight! Definitely leave some space for that. Despite being pretty busy, the service was still on point. We're already planning to come back, especially for another dose of live music on a Monday! The only downside? Parking is a bit of a difficult around there, so next time, we're ditching the car and taking our bikes instead! Cheers!

Such a cute spot with excellent drinks! My husband and I stopped by right as they opened and we're welcomed in. The ambiance of Sweet Talk is fun, energetic and lively. The music was loud enough to provide ambiance but not be too much. The lighting makes the spot super cute for a fun night out or date night. My husband and I agree that this place smelled amazing. We ordered a couple of tacos - all were amazing, though a little messy to eat. For our entrees we ordered the pork plate and kalbi plate with lomi lomi. UGH. Just thinking about it makes me hungry. All excellent. Drinks are spot on too. We'll be back with friends for sure!

Anything chicken is always so good! I usually get the chicken sandwich, but the one time I came in I got the short ribs and it was so good! The vibe in the bar is really cute and perfect for a date. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very accommodating!

The food was delicious, the first time I came, I got more fried foods. My preference lies in more veggie forward, lighter dishes. My guest and I recently shared the salmon poke bowl, kalbi plate, and malasada. Everything was great, but I wouldn't get the malasada again. The menu lists it as Nutella, it seems like it is most likely the Hershey chocolate sauce. I really appreciate the service, it was very relaxed. After sitting both inside and outside, I can fairly determine that outside is best to enjoy the sunlight hours. I will let you decide where to sit once it gets dark, I would go inside only if it's too cold to be outside.

The chicken plate was well seasoned, the marconi salad was very flavorful. Also got an amaraetto sour for a drink. Service was attentive and kind.

Was craving hawaiian food so I decided to finally check out the place. The place is dimly lit with some plants throughout. They only had bar top seating available but it was fine. They didn't seem that busy though. The place is decently sized. It took a while to get our food ordered, but it didn't take long for it to come out. For NY, I would say this satisfied my cravings. If you're from Hawaii or really know you're hawaiian food, this place is sadly not it. I got the Kalua pork plate. It came with a scoop of rice, a scoop of mac salad, and lomi(not lomi salmon). I was shocked to see how bare the plate was when it came out. Not your traditional hawaiian food plate for sure. The mac salad was OK. The kalua wasn't too bad. They got close to nailing down the flavors. The lomi was good but it's not the normal lomi you would get in Hawaii. I appreciate the effort. The drinks were delicious though. Overall, it's good enough for the area even though it's pricey.

Very tasty food, reasonable prices, outdoor seating, friendly staff, and a very cozy inside decorated with rustic and beautiful details. Decent happy hour. One minor nitpick is that they automatically include a 20% tip when they bring the check so you have no choice (e.g. if the service was not great). It's the same location as the old Bar Tano.

Nice little Caribbean place with cute Lu-out vibes. Enjoyed the Thani fruit as well as tuna tacos and nachos. Great service and can customize cocktails based on flavoring. Cute little place

Enjoyed the Gowanus Open House today and on the way back up to the slope , we stopped here for a cocktail. A unique cocktail list for sure and we enjoyed ours. However, the bar tender nor the host were welcoming. Not a good vibe. There are plenty of other bars/restaurants in the neighborhood to give our business to that are welcoming.

Staff are lovely here ! Avsolute little gem and was even able to park nearby. Love it.

I favored the appetizers and drinks more than the mains at @sweettalkbk , and my favorites from the night were the garlic aioli elotes and the tater tots! This was my first time trying elotes, and shout out to @casserolebites for coming up with the idea of scooping them with the taro chips - what a great combo! These are yummy and easy to eat! Definitely loved the garlic aioli more than the avocado cream flavor. Tater tots were the first thing recommended to us and they were actually so good! Not your typical crispy ones, but very chewy and cheesy! The pandan mojito also left a strong impression. Interesting mix. Never had it before and I really liked it. The pandan flavor was subtle but comes out at the end of every sip. So good!

I came here with my best friend and we really liked the atmosphere. Their food was different and tasty. I just wish they spaced out the appetizers with the entrees. They served them at the same time. The staff was also very kind. All in all, it was a good experience and I would like to come back to try other entrees.

This venue is quite cool looking. The interior has original decor, such as a turn of the century tin ceiling. When you enter, you think it's pretty small, but realize there's additional seating on the side that's semi outdoors. If you're looking Hawaiian cuisine with a neat bar scene, this is it. I ordered a haole tuba poke bowl with avocado Wasabi sauce. Although the ingredients were fresh, the flavors didn't pop, and the sauce wasn't spicy at all. I ordered spicy mayo on the side, and it tasted like non spicy mayo. Good portion size and quite filling. Compared to other poke I've had over the years, I'm not impressed. My friend ordered the big breakfast. Plating was attractive and enjoyed it. He was disappointed that they didn't serve coffee. In terms of service, we were seated right away, and the restaurant and bar was busy, but not full. They seated us at a long bar, but they also have booths. The waitress took out orders quickly enough, but seemed cold and unfriendly. Maybe she was having a rough night? It's a hard job. She came by right when we were considering leaving after we had finished our meals and were chit chatting. Food service was just right as the food didn't take long to come out. Probably spent an hour there altogether. The bathroom was very dark but clean. The location is in Gowanus, Brooklyn, only a few blocks from the F,G, or R subway lines or b103 bus. Street parking only. Would I try this again? Sure! Large menu. There are so many choices and try an alcoholic drink.

I was surprised to find a Hawaiian restaurant amidst all the Italian joints in Gowanus so I gave it a try! Sweet Talk is bougied up island favorites - lomo lomo, poke bowls, various other rice and meat plates presented nicely and with an original cocktails menu. The dining room looks like a cross between an upscale tiki lounge and vintage speakeasy finds. Service was friendly and attentive. I was dining alone and seated at the bar area. The bartender proactively noticed when I was low on my drink or didn't have enough water, and was happy to chat when there wasn't anything that needed her attention. I got a baijiu-based drink that was on the happy hour special. I commend people for trying to make baijiu taste good, so I'm not going to hold it against them when, no matter how many frills you put on it, I feel it's still a liquor that's best when you're so drunk you don't taste it at all. Pork kahlua plate was much less controversial and delicious! I ended up finishing the whole plate and being very very full.

COVID report: vaccinations required. My boyfriend and I walked in on a Friday and got high top seating outside. We both love Hawaiian cuisine (which is hard to find in NYC, not counting the dozens of fast casual poke places) and this spot checks a lot of boxes. We tried: + Konaloa's wrath cocktail + Frozen painkiller + Taro chip nachos + Elote with avocado cream and furikake + Kalua pork plate + Malasada The standouts were the painkiller and the nachos. Everything was super tasty, though. My one note is that I wish the malasada was filled!

The three of us surprised our waiter with how much we ordered. He thought we were just there for drinks and a light snack, but nope, we came hungry and ready to eat some tasty Hawaiian food. I enjoyed the kalua pork, which was really tender and flavorful. The creaminess of the macaroni salad and refreshing bites of lomi lomi added a nice contrast. The loco moco was comforting but milder than I expected, so I probably wouldn't order it again. The salmon poke bowl was comparatively lighter. The salmon was fresh and well marinated with that classic shoyu sauce, and the bowl had edamame, kimchi, avocado, cucumber, and other veggies that made it more substantial than the smaller traditional version on the menu. We had to tack on one of the desserts, and we all loved the malasada, which was a puffy, airy kind of doughnut. It paired so perfectly with the passion fruit sauce. I don't particularly care about Nutella, but I didn't mind it here. I'd also recommend the Saturn's Return cocktail. Clearly I can't turn down anything with passion fruit in it. It had a nice blend of sweetness and tartness to balance out the alcohol. I also got the kalbi plate to go and the meat was very tasty, with a nice bit of smokiness and sweetness from the marinade. A bit chewy but really good otherwise.

Solid spot if you're craving Hawaiian! I have to start by saying the food and drinks were really tasty and I enjoyed everything I ordered. I came with a group of 6 on a Sunday night and we ordered taro chips and tater tots as appetizers. For my entree I ordered the Kahlua pork platter and also tried some of my friend's kalbi platter. Both were very flavorful and I loved the side of Mac salad and the lomilomi was decent as well. Unfortunately, the 2 star docked is for the service. I know our server mentioned the orders were extremely backed up that night and I definitely appreciated that she was upfront about that. However, it still did take over an hour for any apps or drinks to come out. Also, the restaurant itself is on the smaller side so a party of 6 is actually quite difficult to accommodate. We had to take the outdoor seating after realizing there was no way to fit the party together indoors and I will say they do not have a sufficient amount of heat lamps for the outdoor seating to be comfortable. It was extremely cold and we felt every gust of wind and the slow service/lack of food only emphasized our discomfort more. That being said, I do still recommend this spot for its food and would consider coming back at a time when they're less busy.

My wife and I came here for a late dinner. It's a cocktail bar with a tiki inspired drink menu and Hawaiian influenced food menu. They've got an extensive offering of rums plus plenty of other spirits. We grabbed a couple seats at the bar. The bartender was extremely attentive. Outstanding service. Checked in on us plenty without being overbearing. I had a couple rum based cocktails as that seemed to be their specialty. I think the first drink I had was the Hok Mana and the second was the Jet Pilot. I liked the first one quite a bit more. For food, we shared the taro chip nachos, three tacos, and the fried chicken sandwich. The taro chip nachos were a well executed vegetarian dish. Chips were light and delicately seasoned. Toppings were bright and refreshing. Tacos were all good. Fried chicken sandwich was very crispy. It had a cabbage slaw which reminded me a lot of central Asian flavors. For dessert, we shared the doughnut which came with a Nutella as well as a passion fruit sauce. I greatly appreciated having the sauces to dip in rather than having the doughnut already glazed or filled. It allowed us to get the perfect amount of sauce on each bite. Plus, they were able to easily make the fresh doughnut which greatly elevated the experience. Two gender neutral restrooms with one being handicap accessible.

It was my first time having Hawaiian food and it was delicious! It was a last minute find for dinner. Chicken katsu was a generous portion and the sides were superb. Definitely recommend!

sweet talk is a hawaiian restaurant with awesome happy hour deals & more in the heart of gowanus, brooklyn. this city is desperate for hawaiian food, so i'm glad to have tried some great eats here where the executive chef brings out some of the best hawaiian flavors in the food & drinks. they have some great happy hour deals and an insane selection of hawaiian favorites in entrees, apps, and desserts as well! the decor was also really cute, and the vibes between day and night are nothing short of fun. also a big shoutout to our server, hyatt, for great hospitality & recommendations! what we ordered (* = my faves): - happy hour drinks: pandan mojito*, hibiscus margarita - happy hour menu: mochico wings - house-made tater tots with cheese* - elotes: garlic aioli , avocado cream - taro chips - haole poke bowl with salmon* - loco moco - malasada* literally anything with garlic aioli sauce here does not miss - absolutely LOVED the tater tots dipped in the sauce, as well as the garlic aioli elotes. maybe i'm just a garlic girl, but they were sooo yummy! the pandan aftertaste in the pandan mojito was actually so unique, would 100% order this drink again. and i really liked the avocado/wasabi sauce with the haole poke bowl!! pro tip: if you order the elotes, i'd absolutely recommend also ordering the taro chips to use as a dipper :)

Was in the area and saw this pop up on yelp! Havent had hawaiian food since.. well, since hawaii!!! We came on a Tuesday, no rsvp, seated right away as it was early for dinner (around 5ish pm). We ordered the following: -taro chips -spam musubi -truffle fries -kalua pork plate -chicken katsu plate -pandan mojito -and another drink that also had pandan (im abit pandan obsessed lol) mixed with rum and abstinthe.. pretty strong or im just a lightweight We loved everything! The taro chips were thin and crispy, not oily at all! The chicken katsu batter is so thin and crispy, not overly battered so u taste the chicken, and kalua pork is juicy and has some fat (the best part) paired nicely with rice, lomi lomi and macaroni salad! I also really loved the decor here! It definitely reminded me of hawaii. Monstera leaves, purple and yellow string lights, pineapple looking lights, etc. you gotta come here to see yourself! They also have a closed off outdoor dining area thats nicely decorated. Staff is very nice and friendly. Definitely happy we found this place.

Had dinner at Sweet Talk on Sunday night. Loved everything about this tasty meal, which took on some unique flavor profiles and served them up at a stylish cocktail bar. Quality: Sweet Talk impressed me with both drinks and food. I enjoyed a Heart Of Olomana cocktail with its spicy pea flower mezcal, and would gladly return for the frozen beverages when the weather shifts. The food was also extremely delicious. The House-Made Tater Tots are hefty and have a great texture. The Salmon Poke was extremely fresh and the Kalua Pork Plate came with a great mix of unique items. Quantity: Entrees are surprisingly large. Value: $14 for Cocktails. $8 for the House-Made Tater Tots. $17 for the Salmon Poke. $17 for the Kalua Pork Plate. Ambiance: Sweet Talk is located in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It is an intimate cocktail bar, that also does delicious food. They have a cozy seating area as well as a dimly lit bar. They also had an outside patio, but it was too cold on this evening. They clearly spent effort on the sensory aspects, as it just felt like a cool tropical space. Crowd: No issue walking in, a few other guests. Service: Extremely friendly and outgoing staff. Parking: Some street parking.

I was here with a bunch of others a while back. At first, I was here prior to happy hour ending and I started with a cocktail (unsure why I cannot remember whether it was an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan outside of it being obnoxiously overly sweet to be either) which was not good. It might be cheap but it was cheap for a reason. Afterwards even though happy hour was still not over by the time we ordered, I decided to go with the Message In a Bottle Nọ3 which consisted of Mezcal, Campari, Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, and Banane de Brazil for $16. This was a much more successful cocktail. Nice balance between the alcohol and not too sweet with some extra bitterness. It was also served in a bottle with a small pirate flag on it which was humorous. I started off my meal with the elotes which they list as bi color organic corn off the cob (so it should be esquites not elotes but it's not a Mexican place and the former while incorrect is much more recognizable so whatever.) All technical language aside, there were a few options and I went with the traditional which had garlic aioli, chili powder, and queso fresco and it was $6. I am used to both of these corn dishes being spicy and I was hoping that the chili powder would add some flavor but it was more creamy and cheesy so it was a little bit different. I liked the corn flavor and texture though I definitely would have preferred more heat but it was fine. Another person had the Portuguese soup which came out in a rather large portion and he liked it a lot and I believe someone had some tacos which they liked also. My main dish was the Haole bowl what consist of sushi rice, avocado, radish, edamame, kimchi, cucumber, quick pickle, and asparagus. The price changes based on fish and I went with tuna and it was $18 which is a bit expensive for a solo fish poke but it is a restaurant so it is easier to not mind. In terms of my sauce, I went with the garlic shoyu. The fish quality was high but the kimchi and asparagus didn't really go well with it and overall it was fine though perhaps some would find it a little bit bland. If the service wasn't so haphazard, I probably would have asked for some other sauce to be added. Other people had the Loco Moco which I tried a little bit of and I liked it. Another person got the katsu which came out a little bit later than the other dishes and it was piping hot and they loved it. I believe that for once I did not get the best dishes. Perhaps don't get the poke here and stick with the plates as you definitely get more for the money. It's hard for me to give a proper rating for this place. Also hard to rate as one cocktail was excellent and worth the full price and the other one was terrible and not even worth it for happy hour.

Definately serving up authentic Hawaiian eats. I did not get a picture but the TARO CHIPS NACHOS are a must get!! Get it with tofu for sure !! Super fresh and crunchy. I did like my main of the Kalhua pork but if I came back I would get something different pork was very tasty but sides were okay.

I want to love this place so, so bad: NYC is desperate for good Hawaiian food. There's a lot of good here, but a few fatal flaws for me. The good: Awesome happy hour with great drinks and very delicious and affordable apps + poke Great cocktails. It's a run bar, so that's what they're best at, but across the board delicious drinks. Average mains. Nothing is incredible, but it's mostly good The bad: Very mushy rice, just not fresh Mac salad - a good Hawaiian Mac salad is flavorful and has nice, juicy (over cooked) noodles. This Mac salad uses undercooked noodles (maybe gluten free noodles) that just don't work, and isn't nearly flavorful enough. Shrimp - it's coated in what seems like plain rice flower, and it turned into just a mushy, bland coating on the outside of the shrimp. Would have been so much better if it was actually crispy, or just didn't have a coating on it

They check your vaccine card. The inside is pretty and it seemed like a local favorite. It was a Sunday night but the crowd was steady. We got there right at 5 pm but they said the frozen cocktail machine takes awhile so we weren't able to try one of them. I had a chicken sandwich that was very crunchy and tasty. Cocktails were pretty good.

Can't have too many complains about Sweet Talk. The drinks were good had the pina coladas and the food was tasty. However the waiter was not to attentive to my allergy order which is annoying. They had to bring out my order twice and I ultimately had an allergic reaction at the end of the night sadly

Was really craving chicken katsu and this might be the only place in the neighborhood that does it. We really wanted japanese katsu with curry but this Hawaiian spin with bbq sauce scratched the itch. The chicken cutlet was breaded and fried, tender to perfection. We also ordered a single seared tuna taco as a side snack, which we also loved. We definitely will be back to this cute little corner spot for poke bowls or even the moco loco, a Hawaiian classic. We ordered some cocktails as well - the Baiju cocktail (Fight or Flight) was pretty rough. Not sure how well Baiju fits into cocktails. Might have to try another one next time

Very conflicted thinking about and writing this review. We came around 6:15pm on a Saturday night, and there were plenty of tables to choose from. Sweet Talk is known for Hawaiian food and cocktails, which we don't see very often and were excited to try something new! Definitely some pros and cons to our dinner experience First off, we had great service! Our server was handling all the tables and had suggestions which is always helpful. Loved the beachy/tropical decor, and the outside area was nice and bright while the sun's still out. Our dinner started off great with delicious cocktails and then just went downhill from there with the food. Most of their cocktails are reasonably price, around ~$12-16! - Gowanus: vodka based, refreshing, and perfect for anyone who likes grapefruit - Heart of Olomana: tequila and mezcal. Spicy, but not overpowering! really enjoyed this one We got 3 apps and an entree to share for the 2 of us, and it would have been just enough (if we finished it all) - Elote: you can choose 1 of 4 sauce/toppings options, and we went with the avo cream/furikake/chili threads. Nothing special really.. it was kind of on the bland side. The corn had some grill marks on it, but smokiness didn't really shine through - Edamame, asparagus, seaweed salad: this one REALLY threw us off. We were expecting a sort of seaweed salad like you get at Japanese restaurants. Instead, it was filled with lettuce... and get this. NO SEAWEED! we clarified with our server and she did come back to tell us that there should be in fact 3 different types of seaweed and we assured her there were not (although by this time, we had already eaten most of it so she couldn't really tell) I thought maybe she would bring it back or something? but no, we just finished it off. hmmm ok? - Tuna poke: we opted for the traditional version, without the rice and fixins in the bowl. The tuna did not seem very fresh :/ Not that it was spoiled or anything, just very pale in color and not great texture. We ended up not finishing this one because it just wasn't tasty - Loco moco: the beef patty was VERY well done and sauce was lacking.. I was hoping for a savory dish but it just didn't have much flavor to it at all. So overall, I wouldn't come back again for food. We left full, but unsatisfied. As for the drinks? YES! I'd definitely come back to the bar if we're in the area.

My date was craving a Hawaiian experience so we came here for a birthday smorgasbord. His mai tai hit hard on the spiced rum but my frozen painkiller was delicious as all painkillers are. It was a quiet and empty night an hour to closing (they actually still accommodate a party of 12 very close to closing as well). No televisions and beautiful low lit bar with tiki vibes. We had 2 different elotes which were excellent, the nachos (you really need to have the pork with them because it turns the flavor to heaven), poke bowl which tasted very fresh and clean and the short rib (which despite it being the most highly reviewed dish was very outshined by the pork). We attacked everything like savages and they forgot the pork for the nachos, but this turned out to be perfect because when they came with a side dish of pork we dumped all the leftovers and made our own garbage nachos. As I'm writing this I just finished the leftovers for breakfast! Thank you for a lovely night, Sweet Talk. Pork nachos for the win!!!

My friend and I were eating our way down this excellent street in the Gowanus neighborhood the other night and we stopped in to Sweet Talk for some Hawaiian food. The first restaurant we hit was bright, Sweet Talk is more intimate. It's dimly lit and cozy, very pleasant. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful throughout our meal. We selected the Loco Moco and Poke Bowls. I had wanted to try the Loco Moco, since it seemed like a pretty authentic Hawaiian dish. Both entrees delivered in the flavor department. The poke bowl was pretty standard but all of the elements were nice and fresh. The Loco Moco was very enjoyable, the burger and egg combo was tasty and everything on the plate was well seasoned. Even the white rice delivered in the flavor department. We were in and out of Sweet Talk pretty quickly but our time there left a good impression.

Waitstaff really make or break a restaurant experience and I must say the waitstaff here makes this restaurant special!!! I had the awesome experience to get drinks and food from Meagan! We struck up a great conversation that made exploring the menu and drink menu both fun and memorable. I felt like I found a new friend that understood my food needs and expectations. The food portions are great and easy to fill up quickly. The drinks are boozy and flavorful especially after a hot day in nyc heat. I had the frozen painkiller and after that I was making plans to remake this for beach days!

Service. I don't know for whom they hold empty tables for. They wanted to put me and my friend in a high bar stool when they were many empty tables, both inside and in the outside areas. At 68 I am no longer a kid to seat on high chairs. We left and had a better experience at Palo Santo where the food was delicious and the service superb.

A friend introduced me to Sweet Talk and I'm glad she brought me here! I was skeptical about their small meals and treats but they were surprisingly all really good for such small dishes! Definitely try the homemade tatertots with cheese if you visit! The fries were ok - I felt like I could get these anywhere. The poke bowl tasted fresh and was refreshing. The pork plate my friend wasn't a huge fan of but I really liked it - the combination of all the rice and pork was savoury and seasoned. The macaroni dish included was really good - sweet/savoury.

Refreshing cocktail and satisfying app! Stopped in quickly while waiting for a show at the Bell House (5 min walk). Was able to grab a seat at the bar which was pretty full for a Tuesday night. The bartender was attentive and friendly. I ordered the Gowanus cocktail which was perfectly refreshing and balanced, not too little or too much alcohol taste. Tried the taro chip nachos which were plated beautifully and the perfect- late night, not too hungry- not too full snack! Was sitting next to someone with a really good looking poke bowl that id love to try next. There's indoor tables, bar seating, and a pretty nice sized covered outdoor seating area.

This place was right down the block from Hayward's a pub where my friend and I grabbed drinks and laughed til our abs hurt at the Bitches Brew comedy show. We were mesmerized by the soft glow of the purple fairy lights and the promise of Hawaiian food. The interior of the restaurant was luxe yet cozy, with leather booths. We sat outside, at a long, private bench. Truth be told, we were more captivated by the small plate offerings than the mains. We ordered a plate of the Garlic Aioli Elotes and the Traditional Salmon Poke to start. The poke also comes as large plates with mix ins. The elote was definitely our favorite dish of the meal. It was so flavorful. With the sourness of the lime, the umami of the aioli, and the cheesy parmesan, the flavor combination was so irresistible the bowl emptied at the blink of an eye. We also loved the salmon poke, which we chose to have with shoyu (light soy sauce) dressing. It was a apt portion for the $9 price tag. Sadly, we both ran into the bathroom shortly after returning home and we wonder if the poke was the culprit. For our main dish, we chose the Hawaiian staple: the Kalua pork plate. Though I doubt the Kalua pork here was cooked in a sand pit, it had all the trappings of smoky flavor, paired with moist meat juices oozing in every bite. I was amazed at how tender the pork tasted and what a bold flavor it had. The lomi lomi, rice, and macaroni salad it came with were much needed to soften the taste of the pork. This was a great spot to grab Hawaiian food before visiting the real thing. I would definitely come back for the great food, awesome prices and mellow ambiance.

Just tried to go here for the first time. My partner has been raving about the katsu and comes here weekly. The bar was full but there were two empty booths. Two other booths were occupied, two people at each. They told us we could sit outside but they had to save the booths for parties of 3 or more (?). Outside there were also empty tables but they said we would have to sit on a backless bar seat at a counter. It's also January in NYC. RUDE. neither of us will ever go back.

Looks like an italian restaurant but surprise!! Fantastic hawaiian eats. We came on a Saturday evening and got seated immediately after showing our vaccination cards. I ordered a Saturn's Return for drinks and my boyfriend got the Brujeria, their halloween special cocktail. For food we decided on the Taro Chip Nachos, Salmon Poke (just the fish), and 1 each of the tacos. The food took some time but came all at once, just in time for me to order a second drink, Aperol Spritz. Taro Chip Nachos: 10/10 yum!!!! A light alternative to tortilla chips but still crunchy and crispy. The toppings are on the top most layers but we used the chips for the poke too which was a good pairing. Salmon Poke: 10/10 With ponzu sauce, this was really tasty and also fresh. I would get this again next time as a bowl! Seared Tuna Taco: 7/10 my least favorite of the three, it was good but nothing special Spicy Sweet Fried Chicken: 9/10 Although it could have a bigger crunch, this was very tasty and went well with the kimchi. Kahlua Pork: 10/10 perfectly juicy and flavorful, I'd try this again next time as a plate. Malasada: 10/10 a yummy dessert to end with, it was big and fluffy, enough to split between two. It comes with passionfruit and nutella. The passionfruit was really good, i bet itd be even greater if it was inside the donut like a jelly donut 10/10 experience, good service and I would come back next time I'm craving some poke!

My family and I were not in the mood to cook Wed night so we decided to get dinner out. I looked on Yelp for some recommendations and happen to come across this restaurant. We have yet to travel to Hawaii but the thought of Hawaiian food peaked our interest. Well, it did not disappoint! The restaurant had a nice ambience. We chose to sit indoors and the AC was perfect, not too cold or or low. We decided to order 3 dishes to share, the Taro Nacho chips, Kalua pork and Loco Moco. This was perfect for the 3 of us. When we cleaned the plates, we were very full! Our server was nice and attentive! The whole dining experience at Sweet Talk was great! We will definitely recommendto friends and go back!

This is a perfect bar to go solo if you want to just read a book and have some time to yourself. (It's also great for dates/group hangouts, but bars and restaurants that fit that bill are far more plentiful than options for solo diners.) Plus, the place is absolutely beautiful; whoever was in charge of creative for the decor/lighting/etc did an amazing job. Their bowls are so good, all the ingredients are super fresh, and the cocktails are great. I requested the bartender to make a nonalcoholic version of one of the cocktails and he obliged--with just as much care as he made any of the boozy ones I saw him whip up while I was there!--which I really appreciated. All in all, a unique and lovely place I often recommend to friends!

Great service, AMAZING-flavorful, fun drinks and the place for a meet up or bring the group! (Just a few booths/tables, but more out back.) Can't wait to come back!

By the end of dinner, I thought I was at Dick's last resort - a restaurant notoriously known for their off-color jokes, condescending, and insulting service. I had fun paying for rude services at Dick's, but not here at Sweet Talk....our waitress Deborah was all of Dick's without the fun. Came here for dinner with a group of 6 - all boys without their baby mamas, soooo we were out for a gooood time. We're a simple bunch. Happy as can be with a few beers, good food and good company. We were seated outdoors in a decorated hut. It gave me all the Hawaiian feels. The downward slope started when I asked the waitress for her preferred choice of the two cocktails. "Gin, baiju, passionfruit, simple syrup....." no romancing, just a recital of each and every ingredient. I blame the inability of my lack-of refined palate for not being able to taste the combined ingredients. I settled for the Konaloa's wraith. It came with a flower and it was delicious. We ordered multiple apps, truffle fries, taro chip nachos, marinated cucumbers, and elotes. The truffle fries paired with teriyaki sauce were heavenly! As the apps made their way out, I asked our waitress for eating plates and utensils, cause you know...restaurants provide that. BUT...she looked at me, dumbfounded and confused, as if I was asking for something out of the ordinary. I don't remember much about the entrees. They were filling. As we were wrapping up, we noticed the elotes never came. I told our waitress. She asked if I was sure. Before I had a chance to reply, she said "I swore you had it, I swore I saw it on the table" and continued to mumble under her breath as she walked off with our dirty plates. I felt battered and belittled. I confronted her and she never once apologized. Why would we lie about a $7 appetizer on a $250 bill??! Thank you Sweet Talk for a memorable night. FYI, a 22% tip will be included for a party of 6 or more for an aloha time. I don't think we're coming back anytime soon. Oh, our neighboring table of two also complained about waiting an hour for their appetizer
