It had been over 6 years since I visited the Sweetwater Tavern in Centreville. Back then, the food was OK, but nothing amazing. But my wife and I wanted to take her brother out for a nice lunch in the Centreville area, so we decided to go there. We figured that there would be a good selection of food to cover our tastes. Unfortunately, we were wrong.
When I first sat down to peruse the menu, I was surprised to see that there were no vegetarian options. Every main dish was meat-based, whether that was chicken, beef, pork, or seafood. No section for vegetarian main dishes, and not a single option anywhere except for salads. Even most of the salads had a "protein" meat item added. Sure, you can exclude the meat from your salad, but it seems like virtually no effort was put into offering food options for non-meat eaters.
I asked our waitress about alternatives to the meat entrees, and she had almost nothing to offer. She said they could make a simple pasta dish with broccoli and corn, but it sounded like a very half-baked answer. I was honestly kind of dumbfounded that, in this current time, a restaurant could make so little effort to appeal to vegetarian or vegan people.
After looking over the entire menu, I ended getting an order of French fries for lunch. Yes, this was one of the only menu items that doesn't include meat. I attached a picture of my "lunch", which was really a very poor option for a meal. The fries weren't bad, which is a good thing I guess. I did eat some bread with it (and they charge for a few pieces of bread lol), so I guess that counts for something?
Bottom line: if you are vegetarian, vegan, or just don't feel like stuffing yourself with meat, don't bother with Sweetwater Tavern. They put zero effort into accommodating non-meat menu items, and clearly just don't care about that part of their potential customer base.
