We came in on a Tuesday evening and had a dinner reservation for 7:45. We were immediately greeted by a friendly man with a beard (he may have been the owner or restaurant manager, not too sure). It was 7:15, and the restaurant was moderately busy.
Our table was not ready yet but we asked to sit at the bar. Our host was happy to oblige, and the bartender Evan (?) was immensely helpful, informative, and super friendly. He answered all our questions about the drinks and made us a couple of cocktails: the SWeL Black Manhattan and the Espresso Martini. Both drinks were tasty, not overpowering, and had a good balance of alcohol and complimentary flavors; perfect starter drinks before being seated 15 minutes later.
We started the evening with a dozen oysters, all local, and were delicious and fresh. The miyagi oysters were a little on the small side (quarter to half dollar) but still tasty, not too briney. For dinner, my wife ordered the linguini, and I had the porkchop. She was amazed at the freshness of the pasta, and the linguini sauce was light, citrusy, garlicky, and buttery. They definitely did not skimp on the seafood in the dish; all of it was fresh, and the meal was a good portion.
I ordered the porkchop, and wow. It was tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. I had a favorite spot to get porkchops before this, but I think this one narrowly wins in the flavor category. I will be dreaming about this porkchop for years to come!
Lastly, for dessert, we ordered the bread pudding, and it was awesome. The pear wasn't too sweet and complimented the brown sugar, buttery goodness of the bread (light crisp on the outside, moist and not chewy on the inside). The vanilla ice cream was a nice touch, and the dessert itself can be shared between two people.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and we will definitely tell our friends about this place! Great find in the Fremont neighborhood!!!
