Google
They have a cooperative agreement width 1000 figs next door it is delicious. I got cheese and drinks and we're sharing wine. It's a wonderful place to be for conversation and enjoying both food, flavors, friends, and wonderful drinks. I cannot recommend it enough!

Google
Nice, chill vibe, friendly staff, and delicious wine selection. Especially a nice selection of old world wines. You can buy a bottle, but also order by the glass depending on what they have open. The store/bar has a local vibe. You feel like you're part of the neighborhood when you sit here. Also, on game days, they host watch parties, and they have various wine events during the week.

Google
Great selection of wines, chill atmosphere, dog-friendly… what’s not to love about Swirl? You can also order food Nextdoor at 1000 Figs to enjoy with your wine, as well.

Amber Luke

Google
Omg the cheese here is the best! I enjoyed my aperol spritz as well after JazzFest💖

Google
Wine selection is pretty good. I stood around waiting for someone to help me or at least ask if I needed help. There was a man who entered after me whom the employee apparently knew that got help right away. Since it's NYE, I just kept my cool and decided to wait by the counter for help. She did help me find wines that I gave away to gifts, and I tipped anyway. (Pictured is four of the five bottles of wine I purchased and the bottle of bourbon I decided not to buy.)

Alexander Campbell

Google
Calm, inviting wine bar with plenty of in-house options and even more to take home. Helpful suggestions by the bartender and also a very dog-friendly spot. Would return again if in the neighborhood.

Google
This wine shop has a wide selection of options and variety of price points. We were helped by Erin with selecting a wine. Loved what she recommended and would definitely be back. A perfectly approachable unpretentious local wine bar

Google
I was visiting New Orleans for 6 weeks and was so happy to have Swirl next door! Such a great, neighborhood wine shop with a nice, affordable selection, great staff, and a comfortable atmosphere. My dog even loved visiting (they have dog treats behind the bar)!

Yelp
Hoppin spot on a Friday night. Stumble distance across the side street from equally excellent Cafe Degas. Good crowd inside and out. Good prices and light nibble food. Go, observe, order, relax, enjoy.

Yelp
My friends who were visiting wanted to visit a wine bar that had some natural wines and we decided on Swirl since it was close to where we were. We walked in and were happy to see a fluffy dog sitting at the bar. My SO and I ordered a glass each and the others split a glass of rose. They have a great selection of wines by the glass and by the bottle. While sipping my glass I shopped and I love how they have the wine categorized (I like the big and bold). I got 2 bottles to take home and can't wait to go back and maybe bring the pup with me!

Yelp
Fun great place! Great selection of wines and the dinner from 1000 figs was brilliant.

Yelp
We stopped at Swirl Wine Bar & Market for a glass of wine between our sightseeing and dinner reservations. We discovered this place when we went to have lunch at 1,000 Figs, which is on the same block. The wine bar is a sweet little wine bar and shop where you can enjoy glasses of wine at the small bar counter or one of the high-top tables. They have a lovely assortment of boutique wines -- red, white, rose, and sparkling from across the globe. You can peruse the various bottles of wine they have available for purchase throughout the store. Additionally, I discovered a cozy area in the back corner with some spirits for sale, specifically, a bottle of Old Fitzgerald 80 that looked like it had been on the shelf for a bit. As a whiskey enthusiast, I couldn't resist picking that up. The vibes at Swirl radiate a relaxing, local hangout to enjoy a glass of wine or two after work, during work, in the evening, or on the weekend. The shopkeepers are courteous and ensure you enjoy your time as if you live on the block.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot for wine. I l love their Friday wine tastings. The wine selected is well thought out and diverse. The instructors are approachable and informative - providing detailed information on the region, wine, and winemaker. Highly recommend the tastings - especially at $5 per tasting.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Great selection of wines. I wish the staff had been more interactive. I wanted to know more about the place, but once I selected my glass of wine, I was on my own. The place was not crowded soooo But I still rated it high because it is soo cozy. Wines are categorized to make selection easier. Great high chairs to gather around with friends. Just a lovely place Next time I come I'm sitting outside. Know what? I'm going to ask them about weekly activities before I leave and after my next glass of wine!!!

Yelp
We were visiting family in NOLA and found this little gem within walking distance of our Airbnb. You can enjoy wine by the glass and it's a shop so if you like it you can buy a bottle to go. It is also very dog friendly. We saw quite a few four-legged friends while hanging out.

Michel L.

Yelp
A fabulous neighborhood spot. A fine selection of wines, Champagne, and assorted aperitifs, and an accommodating and knowledgeable staff.

Yelp
I loved this place! Walking distance from the short term rental I was in. Pet friendly (Wynnie got lots of love and treats) and even better service! Will definitely be recommending

Yelp
We sat in here and had a bottle of wine with our meal from 1000 Figs next door last night. The selection was great, the way it was laid out was convenient and fun, and the seating areas were nice! The woman who helped us was very kind and welcoming. It's a great little arrangement they have with the restaurant next door.

Yelp
Love this place! The employees are phenomenal and so nice. Pop in on a nice day for some wine in the sun and if you're hungry, you can even bring over food from next door at 1000 Figs. We went for a flight of wines for $15 and completely enjoyed sipping each and chatting with the lovely customers. I can't believe I only recently discovered this place! P.S. free tastings on Friday evenings!

Yelp
We had a lovely lunch out front and enjoyed a bottle of wine from swirl with it. The setting is quite nice but their wine selection is kind of small. The wine we had was good but it has a lot of empty wall space that could have hosted more varietals. We ordered a second bottle which also was delicious. The woman who I was ordering from was a bit short for conversation and at one point shut off the conversation by saying something to the effect of "well I should know, it's my job". When we were headed home I asked my wife if it was just me or if she too got unfriendly vibes as well and she confirmed that it wasn't the most welcoming. Perhaps it was just an off day.

Yelp
I will be honest and tell you that I write this review with a heavy bias. I grew up working in a wine shop in Houston so I have a certain idea of what wine shops should be. I'll start with the things I liked about Swirl. Staff is very friendly. When I was there it was very busy and the lady working the bar was very nice and attentive. There's a great selection and everything is well organized. I didn't try the food but from what I saw it all looked delicious. Now what I don't like. There is just not enough sitting area. There are like 4 tables and the rest of the space is just empty. It is loud when packed which makes it hard to just chill and enjoy your wine. Put the lack of seats and noise level together and the place has a very transitional feel. The type of place you meet your friends and move on to the next spot as soon as the first round is over. I will be back to see how it is on other nights and get a chance to interact with the folks behind the bar before I write it off.

Yelp
Unique wine bar in such a fun part of town. The wine selection is top notch with a range of prices and variety of wines. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable on picking your wine. I had the privilege of gojng to their wine tasting yesterday night. So cute and fun for only five bucks! I will def becomes a regular. Fun to grab a bottle and walk to bayou for a romantic picnic dinner

Friendly and helpful staff with a good selection! Very convenient location in the neighborhood. Never disappoints.

Yelp
I found this place due to my partner and her friend's obsession with their Friday night tastings. I honestly had passed this place quite a few times but never had the chance to stop inside. I was excited to finally see what all the raving was about. I went on a Friday afternoon and walked into a pretty packed house. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves so I wasn't hesitant at all about joining in. We were already in line as soon as we walked in the door so we just continued to wait our turn. The vineyard owners greeted us with the first wine on the list and the husband of the couple gave us a quick bio on the grapes. We tasted our wine and got back in line. We did this cycle over and until we had tried all the wines the owners brought to showcase on this particular evening. After picking out which wine we liked best we grabbed a bottle and headed to the back to enjoy it. I should preface this next statement with the fact that I love LOVE things made from repurposed wood. With that being said their back porch area as I like to call it is jaw dropping. I love everything from the wood boards being used to close in the space to the repurposed window panes and old house front doors used as accents. I'm not sure what they were going for but I love it. It makes me think of being inside a wine crate lol. The string lights are also a nice touch if you happen to be out there as the sun is setting. If you're free one Friday evening and the bayou end of Esplanade isn't too far for you I suggest you stop by.

Yelp
The wine is well priced but know this is a small neighborhood spot. When I first walked in I felt uncomfortable as everyone looked at me and there's no ambience to this place. It's small with a few tables inside and seems like a lot of frequent flyers from the neighborhood. I ordered a bottle to share with friends and it was nicely priced. Had to ask for water and cups etc so not much table service here.

Ashlee P.

Yelp
Smaller selection of wines than some of the other wine shops in the area. The bottles tend to be in the $25+ range. They also have a few hard kombuchas and snacks for sale. They have a cute little patio where you can get wines by the glass (or buy a bottle) to enjoy outside, or there are a couple tables inside. They do $5 tastings that you have to book ahead of time. The tastings are more like presentations. You sit down with like 8 other people while someone tells you about the wines while they pour. Not really my style but it's ok. Overall it's a cute shop and a nice place to get a bottle or glass of wine if you're in the area.

Yelp
A fav local spot! We live uptown so we dont usually go to Swirl but when we do we always love the ambiance, the crowd, and of course the amazing wine selection they always have. I personally LOVE the way they have their wines set up and divided by- its fun and makes choosing wines a bit less daunting!!!! You can ordere cheese boards with them and I think charcuterie as well (not 200% sure on the latter) AND if you are really hungry order food from 1000 Figs next door (which is AMAZING) and eat at Swirl! I fully recommend this place for a romantic date, a fun girls night, business meeting, etc. Its perfect for any occasion!!!!

Yelp
Swirl is a great place to stop by if you want a glass (or bottle) to sip on in the store or are looking for a bottle to take home. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable, so can help you out if you have any questions or want a recommendation. There are fun tasting events pretty often, including free tastings of 4-5 wines every Friday that all have a common theme (ex. all French wines) and you learn a cool little bit about each wine that's interesting but not overwhelming. They organize the store by notes of each wine rather than region if you're looking for a big & bold or fresh & fruity, you can check out their curated selections. They also sell some cool spirits like small-batch artisanal mescal and sake that are on the back wall. They're also pet friendly, have wifi, and you can order food from 1000 Figs right next door which are all huge pluses.
google avatar

Jen B.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood wine store that has a wonderful selection of wines at decent prices. They break the wines up into flavor profiles to make it easy to try something new, plus, they have a calendar of almost constant events that help you stretch your wine knowledge with tastings and classes. Get on their mailing list for a complete weekly schedule, or stop by Fridays from 6-8 for free samples, or Saturday from 4-6 Happy Hour with 1/2 priced specials. They also offer a small selection of cheese and breads, plus a few beers and some local art, as well!
google avatar

Valerie H.

Yelp
I love this little wine bar and I love the quaint little street. There is an amazing Middle Eastern food restaurant next-door and their food pairs wonderfully with the wine.
google avatar

Marc B.

Yelp
Happy vibes at this place. Excellent assortment of wine and the staff know what they're talking about. The chorizo, cheese, olives, and cracker selection is delicious. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Great spot to pick-up a picnic and eat on the bayou in Fall.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! Blown away. Walked into Swirl Wine Bar & Market to check out the selections because I've heard good things about the place. Absolutely no one who worked there greeted me or even bothered to say, "Hi!" Walked around for 3 minutes and it was like I was invisible! Won't be back!

Yelp
SWB&M was the perfect ending to our all girls wine themed hangout day! Let me explain.... Seeing as how most of us were off for the 4th of July holiday (or played hookie) we decided to take advantage of the day and see what the city had to offer. We grabbed a really late happy hour lunch of pizza and wine...then scooted over to the grocery store and picked up some desserts and.....more wine to relax at city park to nap, listen to music and girl chat. Afterwards I remembered stalking Kristen C. and her bookmarks of wine bars in the city and figured WTH....more wine couldn't hurt at this point. Right in the Bayou St. John / Fairgrounds area...so mad I never knew this place existed. OMG. We had a blast. It was their Friday Free For All...free wine tasting from 6-8pm and we were right on time. Beth Reinhard from Jackson Family Wine was the rep for the night and she was pure awesomeness. And not just because she had four wines on hand for us to try lol. We talked with her and her amazing hubby Taylor for the remainder of the evening about everything from relationships, career paths and our love for the city. Locals who were here were very friendly as I expected them to be. The owners were super cool too. You can get a cheese plate with some of the local picks of the day while you enjoy your wine from the market for a small corkage fee. This place is amazing, affordable, and a damn good time. You gotta check it out.

Jessica R.

Yelp
Hadn't been here in forever, but stopped by to grab a drink for the walk to Voodoo Fest, and Swirl is as fabulous as I remember. They've got a huge selection, an adorable space, and super friendly/helpful/awesome owners who are always willing and able to help you find what you're looking for. A demi-bottle of sauvignon blanc? Opened? With plastic cups? Done. Yay for Swirl!
google avatar

Cynthia C.

Yelp
Split a lovely bottle of rose with a friend, sat by the window for hours and talked. It was very relaxed and pleasant. We were never pushed to leave or order more. Nice wine selection for take home goodies.
google avatar

Audrey N.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect place for a classy girls night. The staff are extremely knowledgable of the products, and you can't beat free wine tasting on Friday evenings. I have learned so much from the wine tastings, valuable information I can take with me!
google avatar

Cristen M.

Yelp
A fantastic wine shop. Both the owners and staff are very knowledgable about wines in all price ranges and can recommend whatever you need no matter the situation. The wine dinners and tastings are always a hit. I miss being within waking distance!!

LJ N.

Yelp
I can't say enough wonderful things about this place! Erin made some great recommendations, and I grabbed up some lovely wines at a fantastic price. Service with a smile too. Cheers

Yelp
*this is a review of the bar area* We stopped in here because there was a bit of a wait at 1000 figs, so we thought a glass of wine would be nice to pass the time. I should start by explaining that I'm not really a wine person. Sadly, I can't really tell the difference between an "okay" bottle of wine and an "excellent" bottle of wine. All I know is that I like red wine, so there it is. This little shop has a wide selection of everything you could need and has a nice selection of bottles. I decided just to get a glass of red wine to sip on as I waited. The atmosphere here for drinking is pretty stark. There are a few tables and stools in the middle of the store. There's no real fancy sitting area or anything like that (at least none that i saw). It basically is what it is, if you are in the mood for a no frills glass of wine. I will definitely have to go back and actually buy a bottle of wine, so that i can review again having had the "shop" experience. I get the feeling that this place does lean more towards the "buy a bottle" crowd than the "have a glass here" crowd.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Wine. Dog friendly. Knowledgeable staff. Is there anything else that really needs to be said? Personally, I don't think so but yelp says my review is short. Seriously though, great wine selection and you can bring your dog.
google avatar

Robert O.

Yelp
One of the best and most creative places in New Orleans to shop for smaller production wine. Convenient layout, knowledgeable staff and time considerate staff. Great place to enjoy a few glasses and a Cheese board as well. When eat dinner on a date night at the nearby restaurants or have coffee next door it's a great place to grab a bottle to take home for after.
google avatar

Camille G.

Yelp
This homie place offers excellent wine selections and a super friendly staff. I love that I can sit with my dog outside and enjoy a glass of wine expertly chosen by the staff. Thank you guys!!
google avatar

Harvey L.

Yelp
Went for the first time Thursday early afternoon and found it perfect to chill the afternoon away. Good selections of wines to take home but I opted to stay and try difficult wines and read and happy I did. Staff is very friendly and let you try a bit before you order a glass you are also able to order cheese plates. Other customers came in and purchased wines and left all were very friendly making it a very relaxing afternoon, it's the perfect way to spend the afternoon in middle of the week.

Helen R.

Yelp
These folks are doing The Lords Work imo, keeping a wine shop open during a Pandemic wouldn't necessarily seem as important as it HAS actually been. Open since the beginning. Always friendly and encouraging. Great price point and excellent selection.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
Love Swirl's wine tastings!!! Everyone is always so friendly and helpful. The patio in the back is perfect to drink some wine. They are also pet friendly!

Yelp
Went here for one of their Friday wine tastings, but will not return. I live right up the street and was excited to get the chance to broaden my wine horizons. I believe I was a victim of snobbery and ageism that I have not experienced at Cork and Bottle or Martin's Wine Cellar. I tasted a few of the wines displayed for the tasting and my girlfriend was keen on purchasing one of the reds she liked. It wasn't cheap at $24 bucks, but we decided to make the purchase, have it corked, and enjoy it at one of their outdoor tables. I brought it to the counter to have it corked and after dropping $24.00 plus tax they had the nerve to charge $5 for the corking fee. I tried to make light of it by saying "Oh, yeah, but we just bought this bottle from the wine tasting, so you can make an exception, right!?" Wrong. The wicked witch behind the counter grabbed the neck of the bottle, pulled it back and said "then don't buy it." Appalled, I was mere moments from going into beast mode when I looked back at my lady friend who appeared very confused as to what was going on and I forked over the $5 begrudgingly and proceeded to table to drink my wine. At the time I was 23 and was not exactly the dictionary definition of class, but I wasn't a bleeding gutterpunk either. No respect for the young wine drinker. Skip Swirl and go next door to Conseco's or up the road to Cork and Bottle where nobody has misconceptions about their customer/vendor relations.
google avatar

Chad C.

Yelp
Swirl is an approachable wine store that is a pleasure to shop for somebody like me who isn't a wine professional (snob). Wines are sorted by flavor profile, so you are encouraged to try wines of different varietals and from different regions. Tonight, my strategy for picking a wine was to be as upfront as possible about my ignorance on the finer points of wine. The helpful lady (Beth) quizzed me on what I was pairing with wine with and after a moment she was showing me potential bottles. Initially, I gravitated toward the rack labeled CHEAP. Those bottles were around $8-10. The wine lady brought me over to a more appropriate section and much to my surprise the bottles were still affordable. In fact, every bottle she presented was below $15. Maybe I just look like a cheap wine buyer but I was very pleased that she didn't try to push the most expensive bottle on me. The wine she helped me choose was delicious and a bargain at $14.
google avatar

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Like Kelly H., I also never would have known about this place had it not been for the Yelp Elite event held here not too long ago. I live in Marrero - so, obviously not within a short drive of Mid City - but Swirl is definitely worth the drive. They have an interesting selection and exceptionally knowledgeable staff. I left this time with some great wine selections for Christmas gifts and Christmas dinner. The space is small but very well laid out. There are tons of wines that you won't find at Rouses (my usual go-to on the Westbank for wine purchasing), and if they don't have something, they can apparently get it for you at a reasonable price. I'll be back!
google avatar

Bobby B.

Yelp
I would give this establishment 4.5 stars if allowed. Small space. Nice owner. Made the mistake of wondering in during a wine tasting night so it was packed. But it still had a nice vibe and was dog friendly. Good selection of wines and nice labeling so we get an idea of what we might like. They allow you to try before getting a glass and once you ok it, they do nice heavy pours. But in all honesty, they should for the prices of the wine. 9 bucks for a glass of wine which costs about 9 bucks for the entire bottle is a bit much for a space that's not a restaurant. But that's just about all I can say against this business. We WILL come back sometime.
google avatar

Lindsay A.

Yelp
I know it's hard to believe but this is yet another 5 star rating. I am so jealous of Beth, Kerry, and Ron. They are the owners of Swirl and I think they have the best job in the world. I love this little wine shop and all the events that they hold. They love wine and it shows. Every time I have gone into Swirl I am greeted warmly and my questions have always been answered with a smile. I also love the store dog Sangi. Free for all Fridays is a great tasting to start the weekend. My only wish is that I lived closer to the store! Bottom line: if you are out at Café Degas, Lola, City Park, or anywhere near that area and love wine, stop in and you'll be glad you did. Also, check out any of their events (Free tasting on Fridays and $11 wine flights on Wednesdays to name a few).
google avatar

Amit K.

Yelp
Now if I lived in this neighborhood all my free time and money would probably go to this place so it's probably good I dont live around here. The wine bar/shop is so warm, minimalistic, comforting and inviting. They have free wine tastings on friday evenings and a decent selection of wines by the glass as well as a few appetizers. It was just a really cozy place to sit, chat, and enjoy some vino. The selection is good and wines are priced well. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Clearly they enjoy what they do. The crowd was nice and fairly classy. Most people were their in a small group chatting away and this place is a nice spot to start your night. Parking is a bit of an issue in this neighborhood but manageable like most new orleans neighborhoods.
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
Quite honestly if it had not been for the last Yelp Elite event I probably would not have made a trip to Swirl Wines. And that's kind of pathetic because as a wine lover the lose would have been mine. This is a great little wine shop! They have a very good selection and make great use of the somewhat small space. By that I that the space is used to stock a number of interesting selections that you can't find at you neighborhood market. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! Extremely cool atmosphere! Oh, and the prices are very reasonable for a boutique wine shop. Bottom line: great little wine shop. A "must visit" for wine lovers (or those who want to be wine lovers). Like I said, if would have missed this one it would have been my loss.
google avatar

Chelsea M.

Yelp
Swirl is absolutely delightful! The wines are divided by sections such as bold, cheap and tasty, bright . . .etc. The staff is helpful and polite. They support other local businesses in New Orleans by offering a selection of cheeses, bread, pate, and chocolate. On Tuesdays they have wine tastings for $10. On Fridays they offer free wine tastings, and usually they have a chef who sales tapas as well. Additionally, the wines are rather reasonably priced. What's not to like?
google avatar

Chamberlaine B.

Yelp
Exactly what one wants and expects from a little wine shop. Swirl offers a variety of bottles, categorized by flavor (e.g. "fresh & fruity", "bold" and "earthy") rather than by type. As an amateur wine drinker, I find this layout aspect, along with the friendly advice of the owners, to be wonderfully helpful when making my purchase decision. Pricing is good, and be sure to check out the "cheap drinks" section for discounted bottle- mmmhmmm! Also, stop by on the occasional friday from 6-8 pm for free wine tasting! Usually, these consist of four different wine samples, expertly explained by the pourers.

Yelp
There are many reasons I do not ever want to check into the Betty Ford Center. One of the top is that I'd have to give up frequenting Swirl. Which would be bad, very bad. Love their staff, love their wines (awesome selection at great prices) AND love the pate that once in a blue moon you find there (it's made by a neighbor and would make Julia Child weep with joy!).

Yelp
They have some fun and free tasting party events here but they do some larger markups on their wines than some other places. Dorignac's has many of the same wines for a cheaper price but Swirl is convenient and the owners are very nice folks. Almost every Friday they have a fun wine tasting event that draws a good crowd to congregate for these events and the neighborhood is a fantastic area.

Yelp
BLUF: Chill place with few people for a very nice glass of wine or a bottle to take home. I live close by and always wanted to go. Very chill atmosphere. Well lit so you not like "bar". Very few seats/stools, limited outdoor seating. Very nice and helpful bartenders. Lots of wine to choose from. Descent selection of wine by the glass. Cheese and meat plates. They have a cheap wine section which cuts to chase and is very helpful. I chose an italian red wine by the glass which was incredibly good (that being said i wont pretend to be a pro) The only downfall this place has in my opinion is the seating. I am not a fan of stools and it is all they have and they dont have many. I could go for a drink but couldnt stay too long cuz of the uncomfortableness. Nice place though for sure. (they have a food truck outside on tuesdays)

Yelp
You can expected a fun but packed house here on a Friday night (6-8). Due to the fact that they have free wine tasting. This tasting includes 4 wines. They have a extensive wine collection ranging from inexpensive to moderately expensive. They also offer a long list of wine by the glass. Also if you check in in yelp you get 10% off your first glass of wine!
