My family and I have traditionally gotten cakes for all occasions from "the ORIGINAL" Swiss Confectionery for over 30 years. Since moving to the new location on Orleans Avenue and changing ownership/management, it has been one disappointment after the other. First and foremost, the service is not the same. The warm greetings and smiles that once welcomed us into the bakery are no more.
July 2021- Ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday in July. I emailed them a picture which showed the colors of the cake were to be brights/neons (pink, purple, green, etc.) When we picked up the cake it was decorated with primary colors (red, blue, yellow)...totally not what was pictured. My husband refused to take the cake, and they were quite unapologetic, but thankfully remade the cake correctly.
December 2022 - In the past, "the ORIGINAL" Swiss would take orders 1-2 days before for a simple birthday cake. Tried to order a cake 2 days before for my mother-in-laws birthday on December 12 and was told that they only take orders 3 days ahead. I mean...REALLY??? What's up with that? Fast forward to today...went in to order a birthday cake for myself for December 29...6 days ahead given the Christmas Holiday...and was told that the bakery would be
CLOSED the last week of December (the first time ever) so that the owner/manager could fly home for Christmas. Totally understandable, but there's no one in place who can run the business while the manager flies home?? As stated before, my family and I have gotten cakes here for over 30 years and it's just kinda shocking and sad.
The quality of the cakes since all of the changes has been hit or miss, but each time we still gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was SWISS. But now...it just seems like the new management just doesn't care about customer courtesy or satisfaction. As one of the other reviewers stated, consider another local bakery that offers better quality and customer service because if you're looking for the Swiss that once was...as far as I'm concerned, Swiss just "ain't there no mo"!
