Cool spot for brews and mexican food. Order food and beer separately. Get the birria pizza and the butterfly fries with guac! Beers are the best brews in Bloomington. If you have one evening to experience Bloomington, go to switchyard!

Came here for the first time since moving to Bloomington from New Mexico in July. I have so many praises for this brewery!! First of all, the red salsa is the best I’ve had since being here. It’s the only one that has had any spice and the birria in the pizza birria reminded me of home! The pecan brown was fantastic!! Above and beyond the offerings, the way employees are treated with a living wage and benefits, no tipping policy, protection of customers and all of the other socially just stances the establishment supports makes Switchyard stand out! Two new loyal customers have been made this evening. We will be back again and again!!!

Full disclosure, I am a part time staff member and I’d like nothing better than to guide you through your visit to Switchyard Brewing. Here are a few pics to show you the atmosphere. I’d recommend you start with a flight of our beers (brewed on site in the same building you sit in) and then move you to your favorite pint. After you finish your tasty 14 or 16” pizza, I’d recommend a crowler or growler to go for your tailgate or day on the lake so you can share with friends. Stop in and say hi! I’d love to share more!!

We had our daughter’s bridal shower at Switchyard. It was set up the way we wanted when we got there! Good came out quickly that we pre-ordered. The staff was helpful and friendly to the entire party. Everyone commented on how good the breadsticks were! We also ordered a pizza just to take home after the shower. They will also be the bar service at the wedding!

What else can I say about Switchyard? It's definitely in my top 3 places to hang out at in Bloomington. It holds a special place in my heart because of the great beer, great atmosphere, and incredibly friendly staff. It's located on North Walnut a few blocks north of the square, which makes it a relatively central location to all Bloomington residents. Craft beer lovers will find something to like as they make a variety of delicious expressions. In addition to draft beer, Switchyard provides cans of their beers that you can find in the taproom, or as of early 2021, at Big Red and Fresh Thyme locations across the state. As a lover of dark beers, I recommend the Hopscotch Coffee Stout wholeheartedly. Since this review is being written during the time of the COVID-19 global pandemic, it's worth mentioning that the Switchyard team has completely modified their business model to comply with the ever-changing rules and safety requirements as determined by state and local authorities. Since Kurtis and team were EMS workers before opening this brewery, they know better than anyone about keeping the safety of the general public (as well as their staff) in mind. They went carry-out and curbside-only during a time when other local establishments were trying to pack their seats as full as they could (late 2020). It takes great courage to commit to that in order to protect the health of staff and patrons. I respect Kurtis big time for that. As an immunocompromised Bloomington resident, it's super refreshing to see a local business go out of their way to ensure the health and safety of patrons and staff. They go above and beyond to sanitize touchable surfaces and ensure masks/face coverings are worn inside of the taproom when not seated. In non-COVID times, Switchyard's weekly events were a blast to attend. Live music, trivia, and block parties were a few of the highlights. Kurtis and the team were always coming up with great ideas to get folks in the door for new and exciting events. Speaking of live music, I don't know how Kurtis and the team do it, but every single band they manage to book to play the taproom has been an absolute banger. Hopefully after COVID-19 is more under control, they can bring back the biweekly blues jam in the taproom! I can't write a review of Switchyard without mentioning the Mug Club. My wife and I have been Mug Club members for a few years now, and I will always be a member as long as we live in town. Switchyard has a great Mug Club program and you get a ton of cool benefits for your money. It's cool meeting other Mug club members at various events, as well as the annual end of the year Mug Club party. As of early 2021 Switchyard parted ways with King Dough and now creates their own recipes for food in-house. Their pizza is awesome and I highly recommend trying everything on their menu! Before the COVID times, my wife and I would head into Switchyard to work away from home/the office. They have gigabit wifi, which across town is not very common. This means blazing fast internet speeds, making it a great place to get out of the office and work in a chill environment. To close up this lengthy stream of consciousness about Switchyard, I'll just emphasize that while other microbreweries in town may have things Switchyard doesn't, you just don't get the complete package of awesomeness that Switchyard offers, which is the total encapsulation of everything I described above. I'm sure the many photos I'm attaching with this review will show that. Note: most of these photos were taken before the COVID-19 pandemic. Easy 5 stars! --- NOTE: For full disclosure, in the time since this review was originally written many months ago, I have gotten a job at Switchyard Brewing Company.

Google
Great brewery on walnut st! It's worth the short walk down from the square. The beers are delicious and the staff is friendly! There is a patio to enjoy the weather but the venue is well laid out and comfortable with plenty of space! They even have a canning option to bring brews home for longer storage than a typical growler, but you probably won't need a longer shelf life - these drinks are to delicious to have sit! Drink and enjoy!

Google
Delicious brews, fantastic pizza, and phenomenal staff! Mike poured the perfect option for me when I described what flavor profiles I typically enjoy in beer. I highly recommend this place for ANY Bloomington travelers. Oh, and Chip enjoyed the water on tap. 😂

Google
I was a fan and of the light coast IPA which is a lower calorie beer. I also enjoyed the pizza. It was really delicious.. I wasn’t a fan of the ordering process. A long line to get a beer and order pizza. Also, being carded a second time after going up to order a second beer from a different bartender (standing right next to though).

Yelp
By far my favorite brewery to visit in Bloomington! I could mention so many reasons that I love to frequent Switchyard (beer, wine, pizza, friendly staff, atmosphere, so much space for activities & fellowship) but for this review I want to focus on Brunch Squad! Everything we tried was delicious and the portions were huge - this is immediately getting added to my list of favorite brunch locations. Here are the items we had below - I also added a photo of the menu in my review because I was unable to find it anywhere online. Egg Sammy: Farm Egg Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Siracusa Mayo, Scallions, American Cheese on a Brioche Bun Farmhouse Breakfast 'Za: 14 Inch - House Red Sauce, Sun Dried Tomato, Aged Mozzarella, Farm Egg, @fischerfarmsin Bacon, Avocado Breakfast Bowl: Scrambled Farm Eggs, Fischer Farms Bacon, Aged Mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, Sausage Gravy, Biscuit [Pro Top: add Hot Honey] Firehouse Biscuits & Gravy: Local Sausage, House-Made Gravy, Biscuits, Breakfast Potatoes Definitely add to your list to checkout!

Yelp
In the mood for good beer and pizza? Then head over to Switchyard Brewing! We shared a salad, meatballs and the pizza. The salad was fresh, loaded with a variety of greens and the lemon vinaigrette was refreshing. The meatballs were HUGE. Excellent flavor and I loved the sauce. The pizza was ridiculously large - had we known how big it was we probably would have gone with individual slices. That being said it was very tasty, NY style pizza. Needless to say we had plenty of leftovers. I enjoyed the strawberry sour and will definitely try more beers next time. I loved the atmosphere and enjoyed the live music! Kid and pet (outside) friendly which was nice.

Yelp
There was an IU basketball game at 6, tried about 3 restaurants around 4:30 without avail for our party of 6. Luckily we were by Switchyard to accommodate the kids and us with some live music, good drinks and pizza. You order at the bar, and seating is a free for all. You get a number and then they deliver the food to the number.. (one person was able to get a Tom Hanks photo instead of a number.) Pizza was good, they were packed, so service was a little slow. But you can tell everyone was working as hard as they could. I think I only saw 3 employees for the whole space, so I def commend them. The breadsticks had like a sour kick to it. Like maybe they use sourdough? Regardless it was good. We left happy and full of carbs and cheese.

Yelp
All ages welcome. Didn't see that as a tip here or posted on the website so hopefully that helps someone else Metered parking close and they now have a little lot of free parking. Seating inside or out with many options (high top, low top, bar seating, and large tables for groups) Had never been here so wasn't sure how service works. They have qrcodes to scan for bar menu. Many options on tap or their own and other beers/ciders. Order at the bar. Clean bathroom and I was surprised with the signs inside (which I absolutely loved and haven't seen anywhere!) props too that it's a college town so I'm sure it's used. They also had a basket of women's toiletries which was a nice detail. Had the blood orange wheat and it was good. Had my son with me and one of the workers gave him a capri sun and 2 fruit snack pouches so he was in heaven, thanks for thinking of him!

Yelp
Not based off food but experience. Wandered around Bloomington for a couple of hours and decided to grab an early dinner on a Saturday. This was not the place for us. They had a very limited menu. I think it's mostly pizza. We were not greeted and found a table by ourselves. This is probably a more laid back restaurant. Sat there for 5 mins till we realized you might have to order at the bar. Wasn't greeted at the bar either. After a couple minutes we decided to leave and find something different.

Yelp
Excellent food and brew after a long road trip from TN to Bloomington, IN. Hit the spot perfectly. I had a very nice blackberry wheat ale after a long drive on a sunny day that was able to quench the thirst I had after completing my room accommodations in town. The pulled pork with pineapple quesadilla served with pico de gallo and guacamole was so fresh that I did not mind the self serve pick up from the kitchen. The kitchen help was so kind and presented the food with a smile that I was happy for the walk after long sitting times in the car! Quesadillas are so easy to make but this one was different. Tons of meat with flavor that I doubt I could have reproduced the wonderful flavors I experienced eating this restaurant's quesadilla. It definitely was very well prepared, tasty and very fresh. Live music on a Friday night and being able to sit at the outdoor patio and people watch allowed for the right ambience I was hoping for in a college town after a long drive. This restaurant & microbrewery was definitely the right choice for this road trip mama to make. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Enjoyed this family friendly spot and their outdoor patio. Staff was extremely friendly and generous in their welcome to the area and business.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for trivia night last week and had a great time! We love trivia, and Switchyard's settup was one of the better ones we've experienced. The beer here is good and the environment is lively. Plus after 9pm, pizza is only $2! We love a deal.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, super inviting and nice staff. Seemed like a great choice for a pizza and beer while visiting our college student ! We enjoyed the ease of ordering from our table but walking to the bar to grab a beer . Half the place was taken over by Dads & Daughters for an IU sorority event but they were all having so much fun we enjoyed seeing people working , families eating and all ages in this place ! Pizza came out great - wish we ordered more . We will definitely be back great beer selections we had two IPAs we loved so that's a big bonus good pizza and beer

Yelp
I tried Switchyard Brewing Company today for lunch after seeing it was highly rated on Yelp. Nice place with seating that overlooks Walnut Street and plenty of room for groups. I tried the Pizza Burria which is three 8 inch flour tortillas stacked and stuffed with cheese and Birria (pulled beef). Served with a side of Consome de Birria, cilantro, and onion. It was terrific and I would definitely order it again on my next trip. For beer, I tried their Orange Blossom Blonde after advising the bartender that I liked wheat beers. He didn't steer me wrong. It was delicious. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I'll be back for sure!
google avatar

Kaleb G.

Yelp
Pizza was good, but choices on food were quite limited. Either pizza by the slice, or a pizza as big as your car. Their beer is ok, ok variety as well. The night I was there the was a female folk singer playing. The sound was literally ear piercing. Too loud to enjoy a convo even as far away from the stage near the entrance. Def gotta take that down a notch.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick beer and fell in love with this place. It's very spacious with a lot of seating options. I ordered the Switchyard Bill The Flamingo and it was citrusy and delicious. The bartender was personable and pretty funny! She gave us free beer so that's always a plus I was impressed by all of the activities they had to offer throughout the week and weekend. Everything from trivia, bingo, live music, and even a pup meet up. If you're in Bloomington, I highly recommend stopping by Switchyard!

Yelp
Whenever I travel I always make it a point to try out local beer. Switchyard Brewing did not disappoint! Aside from the awesome staff, beautiful space and tasty beer, my favorite thing about them is that they pay their staff a living wage versus having them live off of tips that may or may not cover all of their bills and other expenses. I included a photo of their stance, please take the time to read it. I've found with some craft brews that a lot of emphasis is sometimes put into making the them as hoppy, sour or stout as possible. Every sample in my flight was refreshing and tasty. Surprisingly, the Blackberry Wheat was my favorite. The next time I'm in town, you can find me outside on the patio
google avatar

Connie G.

Yelp
I stopped to try two beers: the Blueberry Wheat ale and the Orange Blossom Blonde. A blues band was playing so I had to yell out my order to my server. She gave me top notch service. Both beers were also quite good. I sat at the counter where outlets are available to charge up phones .

Yelp
Excellent pizza and they do the best at events and catering. More than enough food for the money. Delicious, fresh and great atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Dog friendly patio, DELICIOUS BEER, great service! I am heavily impressed with the service here - very chill, very kind to all who come to eat and drink...we can only attest to delicious breadsticks (but they were SO good). Highly suggest a midday drop in with your pup or not!

Yelp
We were there later, not quite late, but definitely late for food. About 930. West Coast IPA amazing. They had a pumpkin cider. That was so good. I don't like ciders and I tried my sons. I wished I had gotten that the second time. They had two dollar sliced pizza. I had the goat, good, but not super strong on the goat cheese flavor. I look forward to coming back soon and trying their food menu. Loved the ambience, the server behind the bar was pretty cool and quite helpful.

Yelp
I like this place! Went for brunch and to watch English Premier League soccer. The menu was great and the service was amazing. Had a few beers (after noon!) and the breakfast was memorable. Looking forward to trying more of their beers.

Maddie M.

Yelp
Love that this place is within walking distance of me. Came here with some friends to watch the World Cup and the environment was electric. Great beer choices and very friendly staff. I'll definitely have to go back and try their food, but it seems this place is a neighborhood staple!
google avatar

Yelp
Really excited to try Switchyard, but we did pick a busy day. It was a really warm day for March and IU was playing, which made the brewery pretty busy. We ended up grabbing seats at the bar, which turned out great because the service was quick. We ordered a flight and a sour. My only disappointment was the two beers we enjoyed (both IPAs) ran out quickly and we weren't able to re-order more and since IPA's are my preferred, I didn't have many more options. Pizza was good, I enjoyed we could order by the slice.

Yelp
My friend and I were in Bloomington for a mid-week get away. She is a vegan and I like trying new beer. So Switchyard Brewing was high on our list of spots to visit! They have a big, welcoming, spacious indoor area. But it was so so nice out that we opted to sit outside. There was a larger group in the front, so we headed to the side patio, which is a gussied up alley. It was pretty inviting....until the light above the door, used by staff and customer, which is motion sensor and set up with a heckin' bright AF flood light, came on EVERY time that door opened and closed or if someone walked by too close to the sensor. Hopefully that can/will be altered....I understand needing security systems in place after hours, but also not blinding your staff and patrons also seems like a good idea. On to the rest of our visit! Grace is a fantastic server! Patient and friendly. She had good information for me about the beers I was interested in trying as I built my flight. And she was a champ in asking and relating questions and answers from us re: vegan-ability of the food options. My friend and I shared an order of the breadsticks, which were able to be made half vegan by leaving off the cheese topping on her half. And we shared a vegan pizza. She liked it and I....tolerated it. I just...the toppings, as an omnivore, left me wanting more. There wasn't enough cheese for my pizza-topping-liking, and I did not care for its taste or texture. And the vegan pepperoni, while it had good spice in regards to heat level I thought it was lacking in actual flavor. It was not what I would have ordered for myself, but neither of us were hungry enough for getting out own personal pizzas, so as the omnivore (who enjoys trying new and different things), I was obliged to make some concessions. It wasn't bad, and my vegan friend enjoyed the toppings. I would be eager to return and try some of the other specialty pizzas! Not to mention....any seasonal beers they might make! They have a wide range of beer varieties and styles and I was pleased to see a sour, a few fruited beers, and even a lavender blonde! (Ya gurl loves EVERYthing lavender) I am glad we got to visit here! *Also- they have done away with tipping and pay their employees a decent wage. But I love to shout out good service in my Yelp reviews, so again....Thank you Grace, for your fantastic service!
google avatar

Leslie W.

Yelp
Visiting Bloomington with a beer connoisseur, I knew we'd want to check out at least one brewery in town. Switchyard caught my attention as a place that caters to both omnivores and vegan/vegetarian guests. We decided to try it out for a later dinner and drinks. Although the interior is very spacious, we opted for patio seating which was fairly open on a Wednesday night. The patio is actually a alleyway of sorts but very cozy. The only drawback was the blinding motion light at the top of the exterior door that was triggered every time a server or guest went though it - which was frequent. It really marred the overall relaxed atmosphere of the space. There's plentiful lighting and would Highly recommend they look at turning the flood light off during service. Grace helped us out during our visit and was so great. She answered all our questions about both their vegan and beer menus. Appreciated her positivity and willingness to help us have the best experience possible! My friend had a flight and we shared the breadsticks. Grace was able to have half the order made without cheese topping so I could enjoy. We split one of the vegan pizzas that came with vegan cheese, pepperoni, sausage, and veggies. I liked the toppings but felt the crust could've been cooked longer. It was great the next day as cold leftovers though. I'd definitely try more of the options at Switchyard on my next trip to IU!
google avatar

Angie B.

Yelp
Our first time here we set outside. The bartender gave great explanations of all brews, alcoholic & non-alcoholic. He also gave great suggestions regarding their menu. Our friend was super happy to see a vegan substitute option for many of the menu staples. The birria dish was outstanding.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Bottom line...Great beer and Great service. Katie and Megan were "extremely " pleasant and offered insight into the selections. We went with a flight and chose a pint of our favorites...(pretty much our m-o). Coffee Stout and West Coast IPA were tops. We also enjoyed the BlackBerry Wheat as a refreshing change of pace. Do not. I repeat do not pass this brewery by.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
What a wonderful Brewery. Great space, friendly people and very good beer. We didn't have time to try the food but smells good. Have lots of activities and a mug club. Nice location, a bit out of the square so not as crowded.

Jon B.

Yelp
Thought the food was great, beer good and lots of TVs. Great spot before or after a game in Btown.
google avatar

Kristie K.

Yelp
The first thing I saw when I walked in to Switchyard was a table topper sign on the bar offering a Girl Scout Cookie Flight. I wasn't really prepared to drop $18 on beer, otherwise I would have tried it. Sounds delicious! Lots of good things are happening at Switchyard. The top three are they are dog-friendly, they give brewery tours, and they have live music. They also make their own coffee and tea and offer local bags of jerky for snacking. There are plenty of TVs around the place to catch any given televised sporting event. My favorite thing at Switchyard was a line on our bill right below "tip" that was "musician's tip." Yes, they respect their musicians so much that they put a spot on your bill where you can leave a specific tip for the musician playing. How incredibly wonderful is that? They have a really positive vibe here. We'll be back next time we're in town.
google avatar

Nathan N.

Yelp
Don't expect to find parking. One person working but three plus staff members. Nice line of people while the people in the front still tasting for which beer they want. The interior is nice though. Love the wood counters.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
I love that the respect and value their employees and appreciated that they were following Covid prevention policies during our visit. I was also impressed with the number and variety of beer options available and decided to get a flight (very reasonably priced!) so that I could taste several of the ones that interested me. None were standouts that I'd be eager to return for specifically, but there also weren't any that I disliked. Our family shared an order of breadsticks and they were flavorful, a great texture, and a great size to be a shared snack. The only thing that keeps it from 5 stars for me is that service was great initially, but then the staff member disappeared at the end and we were waiting for about 20 minutes to get our check, and at that point, I went to the register to pay. I'm not sure if that is how you're supposed to pay or not, but if so, it would be helpful to let customers know. If not, someone should stop by the table more often than once every 30 minutes.
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
Switchyard has everything you might want. Delicious food, great beer, and a great social conscience. They're innovative and kind and I love everything they do to give back. Plus- their McDoel garden pizza is top notch. That honey crust?! Unmatched. Love it!

Yelp
YAY! I had been putting off trying Switchyard because reviews of their beers on Untapped had been underwhelming. I finally made it over there this evening and had a great time. The atmosphere is pretty cool. It was a bit noisy because it was crowded (Friday night) but it is a friendly crowd. I liked all the seating options, even though several tables were reserved for a holiday party. We chose a high bar over by the windows (another cool feature, windows that overlook Walnut St) and the server (Stephanie) found us and took our order right away. We ordered up a flight. Decent price, nice sized pours. Stephanie told us what beers to drink first, what was popular, etc. Tasty flight. My favorites were the Black IPA and the Chocolate Stout (being tapped tonight). My partner liked the Lavender Blonde but she really liked the Black IPA. I could definitely see getting some of those tasty brews to go. We brought in food (very mediocre burritos from La Bonita unfortunately) and had a great time drinking our flight, shooting the breeze, and people watching. There was also a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie on two of the TVs, bizarre, but also sort of sweet in a seasonal way. Two thumbs way up for Switchyard. We look forward to many more visits.

Yelp
This is a new brewery housed in what used to be a dance club. What I appreciate is when they say "coffee stout", they mean it. It hits you in the face with coffee flavor. I didn't get a chance to try more of their beers as we were pressed for time, but it's definitely on my to-do list the next time I'm in Bloomington.

Andrew C.

Yelp
This place is Awesome! Best beer in Bloomington by far. Atmosphere and service is great.
google avatar

Ashlyn R.

Yelp
Great pizza and even better atmosphere! I love coming to hang out and try some new taps, especially towards the end of the night when you can sit on the patio and enjoy the weather. The staff has always been super helpful with all of my questions because I love to try new things although I'm not the biggest beer drinker yet.
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Loved the vibe of this place walking in! Local brewery showcasing their products. Because they are also "dog friendly" they do not operate a kitchen but - on the plus side - they encourage people to bring their own food and hang out! Great concept in my book. I sampled the Belgian Dark with this description: "Belgian yeast esters deliver strong notes of cherry, banana, and clove flavors complimented by a variety of specialty malts to round out t this dark beer" - Very nice!
google avatar

Yelp
Love seeing Swtichyard Brewing thriving through COVID. This is anb absolutely great brewery with tasty beers and delicious pizza. Big, nice, clean....with terrific service. As others have commented, the atmosphere is so comfortable any time of the day.
google avatar

Annette B.

Yelp
Fun hangout if you are looking to enjoy some local brews! Be sure you have ID with you because they card everyone, which can also slow things down. However, there are plenty of places to gather and socialize. They're also a good venue for hosting larger events. They will also work with outside catering if that is what you prefer for your event. Great beers!
google avatar

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Came here for a networking event for a conference I was attending in the area. Great pizza, great selection of beer, and the back rooms where they had the event were set up well. Next time I'm in town, I'll have to come back and try outside of a planned event.
google avatar

Alex F.

Yelp
Visited this brewery for the first time while visiting Bloomington. I thought the American IPA was awesome. My wife really liked the Blackberry Wheat. Seemed like great selections. The place had a ton of seating area. There were so many people playing board games. Great outdoor seating area in the front of the building. The only parking we found was metered parking on the street. It seemed like they had a lot of live music on weekends. When we went, it was country music - which we personally aren't very fond of. There was a taco food truck outside. It seemed like their bar snacks were a little on the pricier end. Would definitely recommend this place to others and would come back again when in the area.

Mike T.

Yelp
Very fun and clean tap room. The staff was very nice and there's a lot of seating whether you're in a small or large group. Great beer too!

Yelp
When I entered Switchyard Brewing on a Monday afternoon, I didn't realize it had only been open for less than a year. They have an extensive list of house brews that many "established" beers would envy. Clearly, Bloomington likes its beer, so it takes a certain amount of confidence in your quality to open up a new brewery here. Mission launch successful! Whenever I go to a brewery for the first time, I try a flight so that I can appreciate a broader sample of what the brewery does (far too difficult on just one sample.) So I picked five of the dozen or so options in my flight ($12) and was impressed. My first two choices just happen to be the most popular selling items they have: The Lavender Blonde (5%, 20 IBU) and the Blackberry Wheat (5%, 6). I've had lavender brews before that were so perfume strength lavender that they were nearly undrinkable. Not here! This was a complementary aroma/taste that was pleasant and didn't overwhelm. The wheat was a solid beer with hints of fruit flavor, but again, not overly fruity. Just a smooth beer with a pleasant taste. My third choice was the India Pale Lager (7.1%, 56) which used a different yeast than IPA's, but still had a definite hoppy taste without the bitterness that some of those have. Another pleasant beverage. And then I got to the last two choices and was blown away. For some reason, I am becoming a fan of Rye Pale Ales (5.2%, 33). This one was so good! I love the rye flavor in my beer. It gets my attention without being so far out that it doesn't taste like beer. I could see pairing this with all kinds of food or taking some home for a barbecue. Really impressed with this one. Finally, I had the Chai Porter made with black tea that I liked for all the opposite reasons I like the Rye: This delicious beverage didn't taste like beer at all. It was layers of spices with a strong cinnamon taste (they are going to probably scale back the cinnamon on future batches) that made me forget I was drinking a beer. This would be great at holidays feasts, or as a cold drink on a hot summer day. If you like spiced drinks, this one is for you. If you don't, well, maybe just bum a sip off a friend's beer. You can't ignore the flavor. And the competitors of Switchyard can't ignore them either. There's a new brewery in town and it's bringing it! Note that no food is served here, so it is pet friendly. You can bring in your own or pick up something from a food truck that is occasionally available. I look forward to my next visit to try another flight of options I didn't even get to this time. Yelp
Josh is a god among men. His wit. His cunning. His ability to pour a glass of beer. I'm pretty sure the picture of him on the Herald Times was photoshopped, he never had a bad pour. If only I could tip him with an NFT. 10/10 would try again.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the pizza, so cheesy and perfectly cooked. I only tried the pepperoni, but I'm eager to go back and try more of their interesting types. And beer!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious pizza and great beers! Food came fast and beers were cold! During COVID you use your phone to see the menu and a sign to flip over when you leave so they know the table needs to be disinfected. Great job!

Yelp
I love this place!... and this is coming from a picky person who rarely yelp reviews. I've been here on a night out as well as today to get some work done while enjoying some coffee, an apricot scone (from their collaborators, The Big Cheese), and some free wifi! The Lavender Blonde Pale Ale is amazing. They have a great selection of wines, ciders, and more. The space itself is beautiful, industrial/modern, optimal seating options. This is a great summer find, especially when the coffee houses that I normally frequent are packed. Also - they have a ton of non-dairy options to add to your coffee. *See picture (before I added raw sugar, coconut milk & a non-dairy hazelnut creamer). I originally came here to support a friend whose on their bar staff and I am so glad I did because this brewery exceeded my expectations!

Yelp
Great patio! Our server Rachel was attentive and friendly and the beer is great! Didn't get a chance to try the pizza and breadsticks but we'll be back and we'll request Rachel.

Yelp
Tonight was the official soft opening of Switchyard after several years of hard work in the Bloomington community. I was excited to check out the finished product of the completely renovated space that formerly housed Jake's nightclub on North Walnut. The space went through a complete transformation and looks great! It has a rustic modern feel with a lot of barn wood and great finishes. There is a large limestone bar, plenty of seating for small or large parties, and also a private event space. You can also see the brewery with the open concept space. Overall the atmosphere is very laid back and casual. I opted for the flight which consisted of the first 4 beers they have (although more of their own beer will be released over the next few weeks) and a collaboration beer with several Bloomington breweries. They had an Inaugural Pale Ale, a Lavender Blonde, and IPA, and another light ale on tap as well as a few ciders and gluten free beer options. They also have a small wine list with a decent variety. The Farmhouse Ale was by far my favorite on tap and will probably be a go to in the future! It had a light crisp, fruity finish and was refreshing. The BIG Cheese food truck is partnering with Switchyard and will be parked out front daily and is a great food option to enjoy at the brewery or you can bring in or call in your own food which is a great option to get everything you want. Switchyard is a great addition to Btown and should definitely be checked out!

Yelp
Michelle was our server and everything was great! We had the prickly pear, blackberry wheat, and the stratosphere ipa. All were very delicious. The princess pizza was scrumptious. The service was fast and efficient. Don't forget to try the breadsticks !
