First of all, let me say that I NEVER write reviews. Furthermore, I never write BAD reviews, but this has to be done.
Let me first give some positives (though there are few) before I shed light on some of the more unbecoming features of this complex.
1. decent amount of parking
2. no excessive problems with neighbors/noise
3. laundry facilities are kept in good condition (however, I do not know if that is on the part of the tenants or the management)
Now.. let me tell you what we have experiences in just OUR unit.
We have a mouse that has lived with us since we moved in. Luckily he doesn't get into the pantry (that we have noticed), but it's because he lives in the stove and surrounding cabinets. The apartment came and put 2 mouse traps and one sticky pad (all in areas that were of no use) during our first few weeks of living here. At least they tried, I will give them that much.
Another ongoing issue is with the bathroom sink. We are in one of the 2 bedroom units, and the sink in the smaller bathroom is a nightmare!! You can only turn one knob at a time which means you can only use piping hot water or ice cold (dependent on the season). Also, it makes a terrible noise half the time like the pipes are going to explode. It's nonsense.
In addition to the ongoing issues in our unit we also had two more incidents. The first of which was BED BUGS!!!! Now, when we signed our lease, keep in mind that I was 4 months pregnant. My sister had been getting bites for MONTHS but we thought it was mosquito season and she had acquired the bites from being outside. However, we had a rude awakening when we discovered bedbugs in one of the rooms- by this time my baby was 8 weeks old. Let me side note for a moment and just say that we have NEVER had bed bugs before, and none of the residence that we moved our furniture from now has or has ever had bedbugs. With that being said, the apartment manager at the time tried to blame US for the infestation! Eventually they paid for treatments after we did our research and found out our rights as tenants. But let me tell you, it took TWO major treatments and THREE follow-up treatments (FIVE total!!! over a span of about 2 1/2-3 months) to get rid of these bugs- during all of which we had to vacate the premises. If you don't have children, let me tell you it is very difficult to pack up all of your things and leave your apartment every TWO WEEKS especially when you have an 8 week old infant and are recovering from an emergency cesarean section.
During the process of this we not only found our that ANOTHER unit in our building had an infestation of bed bugs but that a PREVIOUS TENANT had bed bugs for months and never reported it (or so the management said). And they tried to blame us?!
Finally, the most recent problem we have had has been left unresolved for weeks now and ultimately compelled me to do this review. It rained about 3 weeks ago and we accrued some water damage above our fireplace. It wasn't "awful" but it was pretty bad and definitely noticeable. Now, we were not worried about the damage as far as our deposit goes because part of the "deal" when we signed was that we had a $0 deposit. However, need I remind you- I have a 6 month old at this time. I did not want mold or mildew growing in our living room where the baby plays. I notified the office immediately after it happened, nada. I then called them two days later to remind them that our unit has not been looked at, again- nothing. Actually, their excuse was that we only had 1 maintenance man on duty and it was going to take some time. Finally I went to the office again and I was told that "management is aware of the problem but they are trying to get the roofers to come out". Needless to say, that never happened. So here we are, THREE WEEKS later, and guess what?... it poured rain again last night. Now, the water damage that we had is 3 times worse and directly over our TV, VCR/DVD player, and cable box. Water was also coming through the mantle of the fireplace which soaked the carpet in the surrounding areas. So here is attempt number FOUR to notify the office of water damage in our unit.
Overall, you can see that we have not had a pleasant experience here. I gave the positives along with my honest review. I apologize for the length but I felt that being thorough was necessary. Take it for what you will, but I would NOT recommend this complex to anyone.
