Sylvano - Review - Edgewater - Miami - The Infatuation

"This is Sylvano’s second Miami location - the first and slightly better version is over on South Beach. We like the atmosphere here - especially the outdoor seating - a little better than the food. Dinner can be hit or miss, so treat it more as a place to have some wine and small plates rather than a big Italian feast." - Ryan Pfeffer

Sylvano Restaurant Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"Sylvano is a neighborhood Italian spot in South Beach where you can get a pretty good bowl of pasta and sit outside in a pleasant but casual space. It’s a solid weeknight choice or a good spot for a Saturday night dinner when you don’t feel like putting on nice pants. The portions of their pasta - which includes a pretty tasty black linguine with crab meat - are also quite large in case you’re very hungry." - Ryan Pfeffer

Google
Ordered margarita pizza and they brought regular cheese pizza. I even googled it for them so they know what real margarita pizza looks like. Lol I wouldn’t come back here again.

Google
Wonderful dinner and cocktails. Everything was delicious and service was great. Enjoyed lamb chops and skirt steak. Both cooked perfectly. Loved the desserts. We were traveling from DC and craving lamb. Did not disappoint.

Google
Great place. The staff were so nice and attentive to my family and me . I requested garlic sauce instead of the spicy sauce on my Black pasta with crab meat and they were very accommodating. It was delicious. We will all definitely go back

I haven't been here in toooo long. It is as good as it's even been . The veal Milanese was perfect, service fantastic, and all in a non pretentious environment that is so comfortable. Great for the folks with the pups. Outside area is big and the dog water bowls are plentiful. Thanks !

Google
Was walking around with my family and we wanted pasta for dinner so I googled places around the area and found so many places but luckily we chose this hidden gem! The place looks like a house and is very cozy in the inside and the atmosphere was perfect, we were greeted and taken care of from beginning to end. It is so hard to find good restaurants now a days in this oversaturated city and most of these places are expensive for nothing. This place had amazing portions and the flavors were all tasty in every dish we ordered. I finally found a pasta spot that’s not only is delicious but the prices are very reasonable for how amazing this place is! I highly recommend you give this place a try! Btw I ordered the spaghetti with clams and zucchini:)

Google
While in Wynwood we were in a mood for some calamari we found this cozy little Italian place. The host took care of us immediately. We ordered the calamari and a bottle of wine. I must say this is the best calamari in 10 years that I’ve have eaten at Italian restaurants the marinara sauce had a slight kick which btw don’t like nothing spicy but was amazing I love the atmosphere and service was wonderful.

It has been a year since we've been to Sylvano's, and here's the amazing thing - the food quality and service are just as good as they always were when it was in SOBE years ago. The best of Italian home cooking, and a great value as well. Their calamari is better than anywhere in Miami, period. Go just for that. The Milanese is paper thin and flash fried to perfection with the classic arugula salad. The special snapper with shrimp, clams, and a tomato broth was silky and flavorful - like a trip to the Mediterranean coast. My friend's linguini vongole was perfectly executed, the brine from the clams flavoring a simple broth. And the pappardelle with lamb ragu was also on point, and a super generous portion. The lamb melted in your mouth, and the pasta just right. I don't often expect deserts to be as good as they were - the pistachio gelato tasted home-made, and had a tiny amount of saltiness from the nuts, a great balance to the creamy sweetness. I've had more bad, dry flavorless ricotta cheesecakes than I can count in my life and planned to never order another - but one friend ordered it and it was what it's supposed to be: creamy, touch of lemon, smooth and silky yet lighter than it's NY cousin. I've eaten at many of the Italian restos a few blocks north where the crowds wait - don't waste your time, stroll a few blocks to Sylvano's. The place feels like your cousin owns it, you feel welcome and there's plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. And the always charming Sylvano. This should be your neighborhood restaurant. Your cozy dinner for 2. Where you take a big group of friends. Bravo, Sylvanos!

Yelp
We used to go to Sylvanos on Alton every Friday night. It was packed with locals in their same spot each time. Sylvain also catered my wife's baby shower. We used to frequent Sylvanos when they moved to Collins. I recently saw them when driving the other day and can't wait to go back. Great food, great ambiance and Sylvano is/was normally taking care of customers at front of house and making everyone feel welcome. Down to earth Miami spot ( which is hard to come by these days ). Highly recommended for a fantastic evening all the way round. Good people and can't wait to go back.

Yelp
- Came on a week day evening and it was pretty empty - They have indoor and outdoor seating on a patio - You're right next to the road if you're on the patio and during rush hour there's a lot of cars passing by - The mussels had no broth flavor, it tasted like it was cooked separately and then thrown into the broth right before serving - The truffle ravioli was really good and the tiramisu was huge!! Great to share between 2 people - Service was really amazing

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite spots in Miami--this place nails it for Italian food. The pasta is some of the best I've had, with the pappardelle ragu standing out as my top pick. It's rich, flavorful, and the meat is perfectly tender. The linguine granchino is perfect if you like a bit of spice and seafood. The owner is amazing. He offered drinks on the house when my family visited to celebrate my graduation. Homey atmosphere, good vibes and even better food.

Yelp
Food was amazing. The service phenomenal. I was a bit afraid at first looks like a real fancy restaurant, but the prices were really reasonable. The must try that filled me up was the fried calamari there sauce like never before I have tasted coming from New York and going through Queens and Italian restaurants this was top-of-the-line for sure we'll go again

Yelp
I had been meaning to try this restaurant that's close to home, but it always looks completely packed. I suppose that's because the food is very good and it feels very homey inside. After totally filling up on the really good bread with olive oil and balsamic I tried the pasta of the day which was a ravioli. It was very rainy the night I was there so seating was at a premium, but they did find space for me and my date and we had a quick and savory dinner..

Yelp
Solid. NY-style comfort food Italian but, NOT fine dining Italian where they make all the noodles in front of you, etc. Also, prices are very fair, a rarity in Miami these days. We had Caesar salad, pasta with eggplant and shaved aged ricotta, and lamb chops. Everything was solid and enjoyable but, nothing wowed. Good for groups on account of solid food and fair prices. I'd go back for a hearty plate of pasta any time. One thing, wine list is a disaster. Ask for list for red wine BTG (by the glass) and it's listed as "Malbec", "pinot", "cabernet", etc. No brand, year, origin, nothing. Is it a Malbec from France, Argentina, California, Italy or Zimbabwe? You'll never know! Lol. You'd assume asking for the list of bottles might help? Nope, a few bottles are listed with name/year and while most are just generic listing of wine type or grape, just like the BTG list.

Yelp
Sylvano's Restaurant Miami (@sylvanosrestaurant) has been around for years at their self-standing location in Edgewater. I visited with my pup for a weekday lunch, and we received a warm welcome. For my main, I asked for the Chicken Parmigiana to be unbreaded (just a personal preference)- thankfully, they were happy to accommodate because it turned out to be one of my favorite meals!

Yelp
Came to visit my old friends place and it is pretty much the same as all his other restaurants. Meaning it is perfection and very well put together from the dinner menu to the atmosphere to the dishes to the price to the service, Everything here is A1. I can't believe I have not been here more of them, from this point forward I will be coming back more often, It is a very nice gastronomical experience.

Yelp
absolutely neighborhood favorite! I definitely come here at least once a week everyone here is super friendly and their menu change all the time so you won't get bored. I always ask for the special of the day and that's what I usually get but if nothing on the special menu speak to me I always goes for my crab pasta. it is so delicious.! this place feels like home-cooked meal, and just catching up with old friends . Great spot!

Yelp
The food is always amazing here. Local restaurant, Mom and pop shop. The place is always clean. The service is always top-notch, very attentive staff

Yelp
We had dinner there last night. It was a great experience. The service from beginning to end was sensational. The food was even better. It is a casual restaurant with a great menu. We will be going back and I suggest you try it too!

Yelp
We've discovered another awesome eatery that's walking distance from our house! I may never cook again! For an early dinner we came to check out Sylvano's, which we've walked by before. We were greeted by Yana who let us choose wherever we wanted to sit. After choosing a bottle of Montepulciano Toscana, we ordered the beans and calamari, salmon carpaccio, and a mixed salad do start with. We were also served amazing fresh and warm bread including focaccia my little one was hooked on. We loved all of our starters but mostly the beans and calamari (fagioli y calamari) because the calamari was so tender and the juice/sauce it came in should be bottled! My little one enjoyed it also, and she's not one to ever want to try calamari. Our main meals were the mahi mahi and the crab and black pasta; both I'm glad we shared! We could eat those two dishes again and again. The little one had no problems sharing our meals with us and we were pleasantly surprised she loved trying everything. Yana was very helpful and sweet and the other folks who brought our dishes were as well! We will be back.

Yelp
Love Sylvanos- excellent quality Italian spot with nice ambiance. Although I do miss their Miami beach location, was my favorite. Regardless, definitely a great restaurant worth checking out for delicious and traditional Italian dishes - will not dissapoint!

Yelp
A pasta craving lead me here, and I'm glad it did. Warm bread, the sweetest server, Jada, and a host that recommended a fantastic Tuscan red wine--what more could a girl ask for after a busy Thursday? 10/10 pasta--a truffle pappardelle with burrata *not on the menu* but worth asking your server about! Like really actually you must insist they make it for you because you're missing out on life if not. My favorite part? She left the Parmesan on the table so I wouldn't be judged on how much or how often I reached for it (just a me problem? Maybe). Skip the fried calamari, a little too bland for my liking, even with the table salt & pepper. Overall I can tell Sylvano's is a friendly and convenient neighborhood go-to spot that won't disappoint. P.S. if they like you, chances are you get a nice little dessert limoncello shooter on the house :)

Yelp
Our server was so fantastic, I should have asked his name. From the moment we sat down, he was attentive and even brought out Off when he saw we were getting bitten. The food was delicious and very well presented. If you've not been it's a gem, it'll become one of your favorites! PS: I leaned too hard on the table while getting up to leave and all the glasses went crashing down, my husband picked up all the large pieces but our server was so calm and made me feel better about being an absolute klutz! Thank you to him!

Julio F.

Yelp
This restaurant is a staple in Miami! Consistently excellent in food, service and ambiance. I've been dining here for 15 years now and it's truly my favorite restaurant.

Yelp
Great for big parties. Wonderful location and good nearby parking. The truffle oil ravioli was delicious but it did give me heart burn lol I will definitely be back. Party of 8 also got exceptional service.

Yelp
Been a customer since day one on Alton Road. Amazing food in a very unpretentious atmosphere. Consistency its been the key to this restaurant success.

Yelp
Have to agree with the other review from Alex. Service was terrible. We were one of 2 tables in the restaurant at lunch, asking menu questions ( all in Spanish ) was like pulling teeth. The carpaccio with hearts of palm tasted like boars head roast beef and canned vegetables. The chicken paillard had no flavor. We asked for any kind of sauce and were offered ketchup for our grilled chicken. This is definitely a one and done. The servers had nothing to say and seemed like they hated working there. Even the bread was bad. On another note, Not the restaurants fault, but we were approached by 2 separate pan handlers trying to park on a Tuesday afternoon infront of their location offering to "watch the car" . Not heading back.

Yelp
I really enjoy this craftsman style eatery in Midtown-Edgewater. Warm friendly atmosphere , the servers are always welcoming. I enjoy the light Mediterranean healthy fresh food. The mahi mahi with fresh vegetables is delicious. The romaine lettuce salad with olives and hearts of palm is also fresh and flavorful. Great neighborhood dining with EZ street parking.

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by the menu. We had never heard of this restaurant prior to driving by and liking the building itself. We ordered the beef carpaccio and the crab red sauce black pasta I ordered a smoky spritz and my friend had the Aperol spritz. Both cocktails were delicious! The pasta was tasty but it was called spicy on the menu and was lacking that little kick of spice, it did have a delicious crab taste without being fishy. We were overall pleased with it but do wish there was some extra spice . The beef carpaccio was one of the best we've had in Miami so far! It was flavorful, fresh, and overall super tasty! To end the meal we ordered the tiramisu, good not great, and a espresso each. The espresso were perfectly brewed. We sat outside and the ambience was, to put in simple terms, perfection. The space is Zen, beautiful, and clean. The staff with attentive like this is and the overall very kind. I can't wait to come back on a date night to explore the menu!

Eric H.

Yelp
Awesome pizza! I saw the price and was expecting either a small quality pie or a large so so pie. I got a large quality pie, and the leftovers were hitting the next day!
google avatar

Yelp
If you are a mushroom fan (to eat, not stare at the sky), this is the spot! We ordered the portobello appetizer off the special of the day menu...unfortunately it isn't regularly available... because I could eat this dish every day! PERFECT taste & texture. For the main course, I was between 2 dishes and requested the friendly waitress to surprise me. She chose the mushroom risotto and I am so glad she did! WOW! Flavorful, creamy and well portioned. We were too full to try dessert, but another guest at the bar had a tiramisu I was eyeing for next time. Great date night spot. Food, service and ambiance... check, check, check! We will definitely be back :)
google avatar

Shane S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. We knew this place would be good when we first walked in when we saw a large table full of Italians having an amazing time. Lol. We were warmly greeted by the host and our waitress excellent. We had the pesto linguini and cheese and mushroom pizza. The sauce on the pizza...omg. The pesto...creamy and flavorful. Shrimp cooked to perfection and not in the slightest bit rubbery. Authentic food for a great price. Fantastic!

Yelp
Service is excellent, food is delicious. Great place where locals go for dinner or to chill at the bar before closing.

Yelp
This place has been in Miami Beach, close to my home for few years, I used to be a regular client but when they move to Miami Midtown I lost the track, today I back and it's the same people and the same very high quality Italian food, start with a octopus carpaccio, linguini nere and lasagna di carne, for me the best lasagna in Miami, it's small and I need 2 portions but the meat simmered is amazing.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Everything tasted amazing. So good that I we were halfway done when I remembered to take pics. I had the truffle ravioli and my husband hand the Salmon entree. We had the margarita pizza for an appetizer. Everything was great and I would definitely come again the next time I'm down here
google avatar

Sergio F.

Yelp
I'm a fan of their South Beach location so needless to say I was happy when I noticed their signage right on NE 2 Ave. You see, due to heavier than usual traffic due to some movie being filmed I had to take side streets and noticed their cool little house. I stopped in for a bite, and saw they were still serving brunch with both a buffet and an a la carte. With a YUGE terrace and shade trees, they're puppy friendly. As it were, there was a couple with a shitzu also dining outside. I definitely plan to come back with Luna! So for brunch they had a pretty large buffet as well as a la carte classic like eggs Benny Italian style. I went for the buffet, and enjoyed munching on roasted red and orange peppers, caprese salad (could have used a little more balsamic), prosciutto, and nicely aromatic cheeses. Sundried tomatoes were also a tasty touch. While their tiramisu I indulged my sweet tooth on was perfect, I'd love to see some more dessert offerings for brunch. Maybe some of their yummy cannoli?!!

Yelp
Love this cozy family restaurant. It's located near my house and I love all about it - food, wine selection, YANA a server also makes me come back there over and over. I usually go for appetizers - various carpaccios, and ragu pasta is my favorite. Prices are beyond adequate for Miami. Thank you, guys!
google avatar

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
Yumm! Had the most amazing, chill dinner here.. Burrata and prosciutto were fresh and delicious, and the linguine vongole was best I've had. 11/10 Definitely recommend this hidden gem for an escape from the usual Miami craziness.

Yelp
The service was incredible! I really enjoyed the lobster ravioli and the bread basket!!

Yelp
Went around a week ago and the food wasn't great, not bad but not great.. but what i really really like was our server. The person who greeted me was extremely nice and the busboy too but the server, don't remember her name was but no very attentive and made a few sarcastic jokes that made me uncomfortable. Won't come back..

Alex B.

Yelp
Was super excited from reading all the reviews. Cute area but that's about all the good that came. Waitress was rude and didn't care about our complaints. All the food was salty, ALL of it. From appetizers to entrees. They said it could have been the water? But bro, it tasted like a salt shaker was poured over each dish.
google avatar

Edwin G.

Yelp
I been wanting to come to this location for a long time and I'm glad I finally got to taste it. No reservations were required so we sat down pretty quick. As for the food, we were served within 30 minutes which is always a plus. The desserts stoled the show. I always enjoy a great Tiramisu and let me tell you, it was fantastic. Very creamy, lightly powered with cinnamon, and the coffee kick at the end. As for the service, the waiter was decent but the busboy really did a well job. The owner greeted as we walked out. Overall, great experience. I would highly recommend it.

Yelp
Easily my favorite Italian spot in town. It's a hidden little gem. Great prices, services and yum!!

Yelp
Really excellent spot. Both tuna and salmon carpaccios are perfect. Salads, pasta, and risottos all great.

Yelp
When I come to Miami I find gems, and on a past trip I found Sylvano's in Miami Beach. This trip I tried the location a block or two from Wynwood (dont trust me on location, just know we walked over after...never walk in Miami) and was pleasantly surprised that it was just as good, and maybe better because they were so good with my kids. Apps Melanzane alla parmigiana was delish. Artichoke hearts with a bunch of stuff was delish, and the kids and wife loved the fried zucchini Dinner Kids loved their Margarita pizza Heather loved her Chicken Parm and I loved my pappardelle lamb ragu ...almost forgot to mention one of the best things...wine list...we ordered a Grand Tuscan that was very reasonable for the quality, which made the meal... will double check if I have a pic and post later...
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
This is a cute house-style restaurant in Edgewater. The restaurant was filled without being overly packed. Our waitress was nice! Polipo - deliciously charred with nice light salad Pollo alla Parmigiana - great! 4 cheese pizza - a bit on the heavy side (but of course, it's cheese!). Other than that! So good and big enough to share with other or take time as leftovers. We will definitely be back. Stay tuned for updated review !

Yelp
Wow! Wow! Wow! One of the best Italian restaurants in the city!!! Tomate sauce is fresh! Pastas are fresh! Friendly service! ( Cristian) Reasonable prices for an amazing meal! Chef even got out of the kitchen to ask how was everything! ( Franchesco) I got the gnocchis with tomato sauce. It was delicious!!!!! Nothing bad to say about this place, but only great things! Highly recommended !!! We will definitely coming back to have again, a great Italian experience!
google avatar

Angelica B.

Yelp
Great food and charming ambience. One of a very few restaurants in Miami where you can still talk at the table without shouting over the noise. I am always of opinion that smaller restaurants pay more attention to the food. Just like in Europe. This restaurant is very European.
google avatar

Melissa J.

Yelp
We were disappointed when the last Italian restaurant in this spot closed so I am glad Sylvanos came in and knocked it out of the park. Their happy hour is fantastic! $5 wines, a great food menu. We have ordered one of everything. I also highly recommend their ravioli ! They do a different one each day and they are delicious. The bartender we have had and the chef have been super nice and great! We finally did a full on dinner there and it exceeded our expectations! The pesto gnocchi is one of the best dishes I've had in awhile. And if you're feeling meaty i recommend the lamb ragu!

Neil B.

Yelp
Great food. Great staff. In 7 years have always had a lovely time. Miss the one on Liberty But, it is worth the trip from south beach.

Yelp
We stumbled across this new, second location of Sylvano's on its opening night. I had never been to the original but my friend recognized the name as we drove by and told me she has family who loves the original location. We decided to stop in for dinner. The restaurant is located in the old Jack's space and they've done some remodels. The patio space was lit up nicely at night and had simple yet nice decor. It was very inviting and given the cool temperature that evening we opted to sit outside. Our waitress was extremely attentive and the manager even came over to check on us a couple of times, which we thought was a nice touch. My only criticism was that the busboys were a little too eager to clear our plates at times. The food was pretty good. I ordered the chicken parm and my friend had a salad. Our waitress told us the portions were generous but we thought they were normal. My friend and I ate our meals completely -- there were no leftovers nor did we leave stuffed, which is an okay thing! The veal parm was delicious and the veggies and potatoes it came with had really good flavors. The menu is pretty big and I noticed they had a lot of vegetarian options, and even some vegan options. The prices of pastas and entrees seems to range from low to high, depending on what you want to order. All in all, we had a very nice dinner with great food and service. I would return to perhaps try another dish. I'm also curious to try the original location on Miami Beach to see how it compares.
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous local spot! Great service and great food. We had the loveliest Australian (?) server who was so attentive and kind. Hidden gem for sure. We'll definitely be back. Thank you!
google avatar

Alessandro L.

Yelp
Sylvano's is a cozy warm beautiful place with amazing and super friendly souls. This was our first time here and they were so open and welcoming, I'm kind of picky and sometimes annoying when it comes to food but they worked with me and even the Chef came out to check on us and other customers that were there, the experience was as amazing as the food. Definitely coming back. Give it a try I would say and they also have a location on the beach close to lincoln 17th.
google avatar

Yelp
Food, drinks and service are great! Love the environment! I ordered capricciosa pizza as an appetizer and sea food pasta as main course and tiramisu. Lychee martini all night
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
Nice restaurant near downtown Miami. I Visited Miami on a business trip in mid February 2022, and had decided to dine at this restaurant while there. Ordered a plate of seafood and I must say it was pretty good. Would recommend if in the area.

Yelp
I was very much craving lasagna so I was so excited when my friend chose this cozy spot for lunch. The atmosphere was so beautiful and they staff was great at adhering to COVID19 guidelines. I had the lasagna carne and wow It was absolutely delicious! Deliciously seasoned and they do offer freshly cracked black pepper to add to your dish. I definitely plan to return!
