Chinese Restaurant Szechuan Brothers Opens in Vancouver, Washington - Eater Portland

"Szechuan Brothers' kitchen is helmed by Yuacho Yao, the chef from Duck House, but it’s no carbon copy—while it sports a sizable menu, it doesn’t have the xiao long bao that made Duck House such a hit. Instead, it emphasizes Szechuan hot pots and other spicy dishes, as well as some popular new dishes like seafood okra soup and a Szechuan-style whole grilled fish. Those looking for dumplings can find the addictive wontons in chili oil, and the restaurant might be expanding the menu to add some dim sum specials like bao down the line. Like its sister restaurant near Portland State University, Szechuan Brothers is open for lunch and dinner Wednesdays through Mondays." - Alex Frane

Once again a last minute decision to get lunch out led us to this place. It gets a good review average. From the outside it's very unassuming. When we walked in most tables were full and the inside was minimally decorated but not sparse. Only the large round tables didn't have anyone seated at them. We waited while they cleared and cleaned a table for us. There's a monitor screen on the back wall featuring pictures with various entrees in high definition. We were seated at a booth and given 2 "Togo type menus and a fancy menu with color pictures and item descriptions. Lots to choose from. When the server came to take our orders she had a digital tablet with her. This place is with the modern age of wireless digital electronics. Must be popular and successful here. We chose hot & sour soup and egg rolls to start. Which were both good. I liked the tangy and balanced heat of the soup. She got the green beans in garlic sauce. They were cooked perfectly and had a nice fresh garlic flavor. She also ordered a fresh fish hot pot. Which comes out in a fancy serving bowl that's got a flame under it keeping it hot. Plenty of vegetables and fish in there. Very fresh tasting. I ordered the popular beef & mixed mushrooms. Generous amounts of mushrooms with beef in a savory brown sauce. I enjoyed the earthy quality in that dish. Of course we had 2 sides of white rice. Perfectly cooked. We left with 2 large and 2 small to-go cartons. From the minute we walked in, to the minute we left it was busy. People walking in and satisfied people walking out the whole time. A great sign this place is good. We came in at 12:30 but we did not order from the lunch menu. So all the leftovers we had were because we had ordered from the dinner menu.

I came with a group of work friends. It took a while for us to be catered to, but the waitress was friendly and did not rush us. They were busy and one of our party members received her food much later than us which wasn't great. That aside, the food tasted great. We were there during the lunch period and most of the food was priced around $15.00. I ordered the Chicken with vegetables and I thought it was great. For the quantity and flavor of the food I think it was a pleasant experience.

Google
Everything here had great flavor and very generous portions. We travel the country and eat a lot of Sichuan and this one was done exceptionally well. We had a lot of the appetizers and cold dishes: the chongqing noodles, the lamb skewers, the szechuan wontons, the hot&sour cucumbers, the woodear fungus, and the mixed beef with spicy sauce. I hear the main complaint about this place is the prices, but for the only authentic Szechuan restaurant around I’d say it’s very worth it !!! We can’t wait to come back and try some hotpot and new dishes the next time we’re in town!

We had dinner here with my sister!! And let me tell you, we loves every dish, portions are big, and we all shared.. And yes, their tables have lazy Suzan on the middle of the table, we like that unique idea😄 Definable recommend!!

Google
Definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in Vancouver. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. We got the fried fish, cucumber salad, personal hotspot with beef and won tons in chili oil.

Google
Great food, great service. Our server, Geo, was fantastic. He gave us some really great recommendations. Flavorful foods. Good amount for the price. I didn't really care for Honey walnut shrimp. Was more like an orange chicken flavor. Was really on the sweet side for me. Squid could be a little fluffier in texture. Wonton chill oil soup (recommended by Geo) was delicious!!! Sesame soup (Geo recommended) was delicious!!!! I would definitely be back again in the future.

Google
100% the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. They offer both authentic Chinese cuisine and the more well known Chinese-American dishes. Everything is cooked to perfection every time, with very consistent quality. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and will answer questions promptly about their very large and comprehensive menu. Good portion sizes, with very fresh ingredients. Definitely an establishment that takes pride in what they serve.

expanding curiosity

Google
We have waited for over 25 minutes to get someone to even ask for our order. At this point, it's passive-aggressive, and there's no way it's an accident. We have come here for a long time. There is a semi young mid aged waiter who walked past us over 15 times. Took the order of 3 other people, 2 of which just had shown up. But not our order. She has acted in this way before, but not this bad. I am so sad and disappointed that this restaurant allows this behavior. A different waiter had to come ask us near the 30-minute mark. Well, you guys missed out on $200 and I will mever tip if i ever decide to come back unless it's beyond amazing service. We wasted now an hour of our night.

Yelp
Tried for the first time and ordered thru Uber eats, super happy with our experience! Chow mein is absolutely amazing and the general tso chicken is fantastic. Will definitely be going back!

Yelp
I can't express how happy I am to have found this gem. Szechaun Brothers is the most authentic Chinese restaurant I've found since I relocated to this area. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly, and the restaurant is very clean/modern, which is always a plus. The menu is quite expensive, but my favorite dish to get is the Hot and Spicy Hot Pot. Be warned, it can get very spicy if you aren't used to it. Will be making it a point to come back here more often.

Yelp
A friend and I came here for dinner on a Thursday evening. We were quickly seated and offered a menu. After looking through the menu, we went ahead and ordered my favorite dishes from here. I have been coming here often and would typically order these two dishes. But after covid, I would order to-go or have the dishes delivered home. However, we had the opportunity to dine inside the restaurant this time. We ordered the Beef dry hot pot - mild and the fish fillet in chili oil - mild. Both dishes came out exceptionally fast! We were amazed with the speed. Best of all, both of the dishes were amazing. We will definitely come back for when we crave these two dishes.

Yelp
This seems to be more authentic than most. I went outside of what I know and tried the cumin beef, I wish I hadn't. My mouth was coated with cumin the entire time. My wife had one of her favorites, green bean chicken. We both enjoyed the flavors in there. The hot and sour soup had a different taste than what I was used to, not sure if I liked it. The wife thought it was good. I'll go back and get some dish that is more familiar to me. I have high hopes.

Yelp
Food is always amazing!!! So many choices you don't find anywhere else. Eva our waitress so wonderful and so kind, she remembered us from our last visit in June, we live in California. If you want great food come here!!!!

Yelp
This is a regular spot with a few of my friends. We love how they prepare their eggplant so almost always order one of those dishes. They do a great job with fish. We have tried their whole fish, hot pot with fish and fish filled with basil. All very delicious. Many other delicious ones to choose from.
google avatar

Daniel F.

Yelp
One of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to. The menus is HUGE, and even though I've been here multiple times with multiple people I still haven't tried the majority of the dishes. Note that things that say they're spicy are very spicy! Ask for mild if you want a typical medium. Standout dishes: cumin lamb, all the hotpot dishes, green beans and eggplant, braised beef noodle soup. I'm not that particular for service or ambiance, but they're both fine if unremarkable. Booths are nice.

Yelp
I waited to write my review until my second visit in case my first visit was a fluke. Spoiler alert. It was not. I have had about 14 different dishes here and every single one was a banger. The Dan Dan noodles are fantastic. They're on the soupy side but the sauce is delicious. Just the perfect balance of Szechuan peppers. The fried rice is a staple and it's done expertly. The sesame chicken? Yas please. I recommend going with friends and splitting a bunch of dishes. 1 entree would easily feed 2 people. We did a dish per person in our group and it was an absurd amount of food. Twenty bucks on this ppace expanding to a fancier location within two years.

Yelp
Excellent service and very tasty meals. I arrived at the dinner hour when all of Vancouver wanted to eat here...very busy. Promptly greeted and shown to a table, followed with hot tea kettle and water. They have an extensive menu, one is paper but the other is like a bound book with color photos. Choosing from the color photos I ordered the lamb skewers, Mapo tofu, and wontons in hot chili oil. They each arrived quickly, piping hot, and so very tasty. As usual, I ordered too much and couldn't finish it. But I didn't leave it behind, taking it to go back to my hotel for a snack later on. Excellent food and service. Give them a try, you will be pleased.

Yelp
Want more authentic Chinese food? This is the place to go. They definitely do have American Chinese food on the menu, but seeing more traditional Chinese dishes offered in Vancouver makes me super happy. I ordered their salted fish and chicken fried rice, sweet and sour spare ribs, green beans & eggplant and a Fish Fillet in Hot & Spicy Gravy (I asked for it to not be spicy). The salted fish and chicken fried rice was delicious. Honestly, I never thought I'd see this on a menu in Vancouver. The salted fish and chicken pieces were perfect mix for the fried rice. I really enjoyed it. The sweet and sour spare ribs were good too, nice addition of peppers, onions and pineapple to it. The green beans and eggplant were delicious as well. They had a really good texture. With the fish fillet in hot & spicy gravy. This traditionally is spicy, and that's how I would normally order it. However, they can make it mild or not spicy at all if you ask. The flavor is super simple if you make it mild or not spicy, I definitely recommend it spicy. It comes with so many different components from fillet fish, bamboo shoots, black fungus, potato, bean sprouts and more, I ordered no spicy because the individuals I was eating it with wanted not spicy. Definitely will be making a trip here again!

Yelp
This place quickly became one of our regular spots during our time in Vancouver. They have a large selection of menu items with plenty spicy or non spicy items, and the portion is pretty big so that really makes it worth it. Food quality is consistent from us being there see real times, even though we ordered different entrees each time, I have not found anything that I don't like. It is a solid Chinese food option especially for those looking for a more authentic experience.

Yelp
I was born and raised in the Bay Area in California. So I've had a lot of experience around Chinese restaurants from Cantonese, Taiwanese, and especially Szechuan cuisine. Schezuan in particular is a favorite of mine and I had high hopes, as it is very sparse in the Vancouver/Portland area. I'm glad I wasn't disappointed! The service was actually very mediocre, which ironically usually a sign of really good Asian food. It's usually a vine of " we know our food is good, so we don't emphasize service" kind of vibe. Though it isn't bad service at all. I ordered a number of dishes, and they had the authentic spices, flavors, and heat expected. Some of it is changed to fit more American palettes, like the Chong Qing chicken being in boneless fashion as opposed to bone-in wings. But this is how I prefer it anyway. Overall if you're looking for good Schezuan, this is definitely the best in the area. I'm definitely going back to try their Dry Pots!

Yelp
My parents and I wanted to try something new around the area and we stumbled across Szechuan BrothersWe ordered seafood fried rice, salt and pepper shrimp and deep fried filet (Szechuan style). The food was amazing! The ambiance was very peaceful and homey. I loved how crispy the deep fried filet and salt and pepper shrimp was. Everything was flavorful and the spice was perfect! Would definitely come again!

Yelp
Far more leaning towards authentic Chinese, but still not too crazy for my white boy mouth. Staff is super super friendly. A lot more options than your average "Chinese restaurant". I had chow fun, squid, and a couple of other dishes just so we can try everything for the first time. I spent $100 and had food for three people for three days :-) Sorry, green tea, I have a new go to place

Yelp
10/10! Just went with friends and EVERYTHING was fantastic! Had things I have never had before and I am glad I tried. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I heard about Szechuan Brothers a few years ago since they are like a sister restaurant to one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Portland, Duck House. I had gone once after the Covid Stay at Home Orders in 2020, but since they weren't offering in person dining I passed. I largely forgot about them until recently. During this pandemic, one of the newest dishes I've discovered and have cooked at home a handful of times is called Mala Xiang Guo, or Dry Pot. For those of you who aren't familiar, MXG or dry pot has all the same flavors of the spicy sichuan hot pot...they take all of the same seasonings and stir fry all of the veggies and meats in it without adding the broth you are accustomed to with hot pot. I absolutely love eating this dish and cooking it, but the problem is...it's not just feasible to make at home for a single person or for 2 people. I generally make it for groups of 6-12. I've been searching for this dish throughout Portland for the past few years and have only seen it on one other menu and it wasn't the right dish. I was ecstatic when I looked up SB on Yelp and saw it in the menu and in the photo album. I was driving south from Vancouver and already made it past PDX when I discovered this, and I immediately found the nearest exit ramp so that I could head back north and go to Szechuan Brothers immediately. I knew I found the right place when immediately after entering the restaurant, I heard two soft coughs. These weren't the same coughs you get from being ill, or from Covid, but these are the same mild throat clearing coughs that you get from the slight burn from spicy asian food. This was clearly a sign that I made the right decision. The dry pot came out in a beautiful burning cauldron to my table with all the fixins I expected it to. Along with your protein of choice (I ordered lamb), it came with cauliflower, bean sprouts, bean curd sheets, potatoes, lotus roots, bamboo shoots, and wood ear fungus. As expected I ordered the extra spicy. All in all, I loved my meal and I loved the friendly and attentive service. The flavors were fantastic, but I wished there was a little more sauce to really emphasize the hot pot flavors. The extra spicy heat could have been more hot, but all in all I'll be a regular as long as they continue having mala xiang guo on the menu.

Yelp
Went here yesterday for the first time, and I already can't wait to come back! If you love spicy Asian cuisine, this place is it. As Scoop Majumdar would say, "Spicy doesn't always mean hot." There are so many nuances when it comes to spice and the amount of flavor and taste that you can get along with it. This place provides that, as well as good service, and a comfortable dining room. The food was excellent. Everything was cooked to perfection and leaves you wanting more. All of the dishes we ordered were standouts, especially the Sliced Beef in Hot & Spicy Gravy & the Salt and Pepper wings. Do yourself a favor and check this place out asap!

Yelp
Absolutely the best Szechuan spot in Vancouver, WA, and perhaps encompassing Portland too. Huge portions and NUMBINGLY spicy (if you like it that way). Our family orders from this spot pretty frequently and we have always had a good time. Our go-tos include the Fish Fillet Hot & Spicy Pot and the Mapo Tofu. Do NOT order the classic "White-Chinese dishes" like orange chicken or lo mein if you're going here. If you want those, go to Panda express lol. This spot is definitely reserved for spice enthusiasts. I can't speak too much about the service as we usually opt for pick-up. The pick-up process is smooth and easy.
google avatar

Jensen S.

Yelp
I've been here a few times dining in and takeout during Covid and never had a bad meal. My go-to is the Beef Hot and Spicy Pot. It's a bit pricey, but it's big enough for 3-4 meals on its own. Spicy Won Tons are great as well and I normally get those, too. It's a bit different from the normal Americanized Chinese food you normally see all over the country (although they do have some of that, but I've just never got it) Service is solid, they have alcohol, all the things I like in a restaurant (in the Couve for an added bonus that I don't have to drive to Portland)
google avatar

Elise S.

Yelp
I didn't take any pictures because I scarfed it, but just needed to say this is the best Chinese food I've had in ages! Good cuts of chicken for orange & General Tso's, not too much breading, tasty sauces & chow mein was perfect. Fantastic!
google avatar

Keith S.

Yelp
The service is nothing special. The ambience again is nothing special. The food is in large portions, and can be very hot, but other than heat not a lot of flavor

Jonah Z.

Yelp
Disappointed multiple times now. I keep reading good reviews but every time recently for our family it has been cloyingly sweet and way over salty.
google avatar

Cindy F.

Yelp
TL;DR: great place to dine with friends/family! Food is authentic and not overly Americanized. Parking: shared lot. Atmosphere: traditional family style dining (shared dishes). Menu: detailed menu with nice photos of dishes. Service: order at the table, complimentary tea provided, you will be watered, check brought to table. Pepper Salt Squid: I am a Pepper Salt Squid connoisseur and THE best place to get it is at Thien Hong but Szechuan Brothers is pretty good too! Most places have the squid breading too soggy. This place makes it just right: light and crispy. West Lake Beef Soup: one of my favs that hits the spot just right! It's just the right amount of salt and the thickness of the broth is perfection. I love the tofu and beef bits and (dare I say it?) the mushrooms too. Yes, this mushroom hater said that the mushrooms are good. Snow Pea Tips (seasonal): hit or miss dish on the tenderness of those pea tendrils. Some can be tender but others are like chewing coconut fibers and are better off left on your plate. I really like this dish because I love the flavor of snow pea tips but most places just use vines that are harvested too late so they are old and tough to chew.

Alisa F.

Yelp
Great food! Very authentic. The wait was a bit long but it was worth it. We would definitely go back.

Yvonne B.

Yelp
My Lamb skewers were not marked spicy but they were Very Spicy, I will never do business there again!!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a hankering for some real spicy Szechuan food! This place hit the spot! Hands down the best in the area! Service staff were warm and chatty! Ambiance is clean and comfortable. Will definitely be back more often now!
google avatar

Yu-Chi L.

Yelp
Their dishes are always so yummy. So far they are the best Chinese food I ever had in Vancouver wa

D J.

Yelp
Best Chinese food north of the river and maybe the best in Portland metro. This place specializes in spiciness but don't let that stop you from going, their non spicy options are equally great. My wife and I have this in a rotation visiting at least once per month even through Covid times. Dining in again has really kicked it up as fresh, off the wok is so great. The staff is also wonderful making my family feel right at home. An additional hidden gem at this place is their spicy margarita. It is so good, you must try it. I've heard good things about other drinks on the menu but I just keep getting this one. Attached is a more non spicy option of foods my parents like when they travel up here.

Yelp
They finally opened back up for dine-in after ~2 years and I am excited about it because I called several times in the past 2 years to see if dine-in was available. I had always wanted to come back since my visit during their grand opening 3 years ago, but I don't think takeout will taste as good so I didn't come during the pandemic at all. The grand opening sign is still there and it is probably not true unless they changed the owner again. I missed their grilled whole fish a lot so that was the first thing I ordered right away. I remember the fish wasn't spicy enough 2.5 years ago so I asked them to make it as spicy as possible this time. It only took about 5 mins for the fish to come out, super fast. The fish was very spicy this time and made me sweat so I was satisfied with the spicy level. However, this dish didn't taste as good as before, kind of bland. The vegetables that came with the fish were tasteless, and the only taste they had was spice after soaking in the spicy sauce in there for a while. The fish itself was also bland and all I could taste was the spice. A bit disappointing. However, the appetizers were as amazing as I remember and they tasted way better than the fish. 5 stars for appetizers and I am down for coming here just for them. The price went up like everywhere else but is still acceptable and cheaper than other Szechuan style restaurants in the area. I'll definitely come back again and I hope the fish will taste better next time.

Yelp
Came in around 7:30pm and the place was popping. Only 2 ladies running the place with over 30 customers present. They were cranking out to go orders and tending to the customers just fine. We ordered and got once plate of our 3 plate meal with in 15 mins. The chicken chow fun was delicious sigh lots of chicken and was spicy too. That dish came out first. Then, the wontons cakes out and they were really good as well. The kung pao chicken was good but not as spicy as I would have liked tho. Either way, this place is good with huge portions. I think it worth the price. The service was great considering how busy those two ladies were.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening. Our party consisted of 6 people. We had a round table with the Lazy Susan which made it easy for us to share dishes. I like the round table because it feels like all can better participate in the dinner conversation. The food was tasty and the service was prompt. Be aware that rice must be ordered separately from the dishes. Not the norm from my experience.

Alexis T.

Yelp
The food is legit!!! I wish I lived closer so I could go there all the time! Very delicious and authentic. Very nice staff!

Yelp
I have a lingering suspicion that I probably didn't order what these guys are known for. I placed an order using their website for egg rolls, shrimp lo mein and chicken fried rice. The app estimated 30 minutes but it was already on the counter waiting to go when I got there about 20 minutes in. Staff seem nice and less freaky than the guy at Tang's Wok who stared at me and my bf as we picked up without a greeting or returning a smile. The strip mall it's in is huge so don't worry about parking. I like that they pack stuff in paper containers. My biggest guilt trip with our usual place is the styrofoam they use. I got it home and tipped off my Friday with an unnecessary argument which already tainted my appetite before I cracked the boxes open. The noodles were good, but that's all. I might switch over just because of the weirdo and the foam. I don't know what happened with the fried rice but it was *spicy*. Really spicy. If they could dial down the heat on that, it would have been pretty good. Bf really liked the egg rolls, but it's tough to screw up deep fried wrappers with soggy vegetables inside. We'll prolly give them one more try and then revert.
google avatar

Lontra C.

Yelp
I am honestly so ecstatic that this place exists. I never thought I would find such a good Szechuan style restaurant, especially one not in Portland. The variety they have is impressive, the food itself fantastic. Service was speedy and the place had nice decor. The pot they use to serve the hot pot is really pretty!

Kalina P.

Yelp
Awesome food, great service- they even called me to return my bag once when I was a dork and left it. Love them!

Wei Y.

Yelp
The food was great and authentic. When the workers at the restaurant can speak the dialect of the original piece of the cuisine, usually you cannot go wrong with it.
google avatar

Simba Z.

Yelp
It's really good to have very delicious Szechuan food here. They are friendly and made really well exactly the way we enjoyed in Szechuan.
google avatar

Darrion H.

Yelp
This place was pretty middle of the road when it comes to good food. Their popular szechuan dish had a really good broth, but the fish lacked flavor as if they put it in frozen so it never had a chance to absorb the flavor. Or maybe it was because there wasn't much spice or zing or szechuan kick. Would I eat here again, maybe. Over all it was good food. I liked it, but it wasn't what I wanted in terms of szechuan flavor. They also give a decent portion of fish. Side rant, their filet in spicy gravy tasted more like a filet in tangy oily veggie broth. At other low grade szechuan spots, it's clearly a gravy. Even if most of the other spots lack that true kick also. You should damn near cough at first sip when it's that true kick. In my opinion.
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
Great food and best Chinese chef in the Pacific NW!!! The flavor in their various (there are a lot of different kinds) dishes and quality of the food is far and above the other Chinese restaurants in the PDX and Seattle Areas. Can't recommend this place enough!

Lynn L.

Yelp
Willing to come back to try other things but my standard dan dan noodles fairly mediocre . Rather than rich with sesame paste and pork this was more like a huge amount of noodles in a warm spicy ish broth, no green vegetable just some sprouts and a bit of green onion. Mapo tofu gelatinous and oily. A little lip buzz but generally no other flavor. Disappointed by both. Other things look worth trying so will give it one more shot,

Linda H.

Yelp
Finally, after living here a year and a half a good Chinese restaurant. Excellent hot and sour soup.

Bradford H.

Yelp
The ABSOLUTE WORST Chinese food I have ever eaten EVER Dan Dan Noodles-a big bowl of spaghetti noodles with a little broth. No ground pork just some bean sprouts and cilantro. We had to dig half way down the noodles to find our broth !!!!!! Pork Spare Ribs with Sizzling Rice-OMG. Get this. Crumbled store bought rice cakes with small overcooked pork ribs, limp old celery, cilantro, a few drops of some "mystery sauce" and magic "Szechuan dust" sprinkled on top Lamb Skewers-3 previously cooked thin skewers with the before mentioned "Szechuan dust". Dry...... Service-Kept looking for it !!!!!! Will never go back

Yelp
Been here multiple times in store and ordered out We order mainly the hot pot, fish fried rice, cold salads, chow fun, Veggie plates, fried fish, fried shrimp.... food was consistent tasting and will always come back for that special spice!

Betty Z.

Yelp
I love this place! Excellent food, good price with pleasant service. We ordered house special grilled whole fish and sweet sour pork spare ribs. They are delicious and we both like them . The portion is pretty big, prepare to share. definitely recommend.

Yelp
Spent a week in Vancouver visiting my uncle and decided to try out the Chinese food in the area. This was probably the biggest mistake I've ever made IN MY LIFE. Here's the scoop on what I ordered: Orange Chicken Lunch: This was horrendous. I think it's the same chicken used in sweet and sour but it shouldn't be! It was soggy, and the white meat they used was SO DRY. I've never had dry orange chicken in my life. Kung Pao Chicken: Sauce was way too sweet to be Kung Pao. Felt like flavors didn't have a chance to develop over the high heat of the wok. Twice Cooked Pork Belly: This had the same exact flavor as the Kung Pao. It also didn't feel like pork belly, just strips of pork. Cheng Du Ground Pork Fried Rice: This rice was weird. It had enough color to look like a super tasty fried rice but when you took a bite, it had literally zero flavor to it. I had really really high hopes for this one too! The rice that came with each dish was very hard and not yummy at all. The servers were all nice and parking is great here. Just wouldn't ever come back for the food.

Yelp
This place is a 10/10!! Absolutely amazing, delicious and 100% authentic! Definitely will be back whenever I am in town. I had the salt fish fried rice, spicy slice beef, spicy fried fish, hotpot fried tendons, honey walnut shrimp and extra white rice on the side. The salt fish fried rice is the best I've had in awhile.

Yelp
This place is hands down the best Chinese food we've had in WA! Everything was clearly made fresh, had the perfect amount of seasoning, and was absolutely delicious. We can't wait to work our way through the rest of the menu!

Yelp
We are having some necessary construction done in our kitchen at the moment; we could not use the stove or oven so we had to figure out options for supper..my housemate suggested this place. Initially I was hesitant; because last few times I ate here I was not satisfied at all. It's not that the food didn't taste good; because it did taste good. My dissatisfaction was portion and price. Small portions and high price. So for that reason I have not eaten here since the pandemic. If I recall correctly I did order take away one time during the pandemic and I was so shocked at how small my portion of mixed vegetables and tofu was. And for $17.... It was in one of those small rectangular plastic to go containers.... Wasen't even enough to feed a child. This time around I decided to try one of the hot pots. I ordered the mixed mushroom hot pot. It was very good. However it is pricey $25 and change. I kind of wanted to order a side item like some greens or veggies with tofu. But after looking at the prices I decided against it. The menu items are all $16.95 and go up from there. So just so I'm clear they are not unquie in their high prices it's the same every where I really don't understand the totality of what's going on but dinning out now costs the the same as a mobile phone bill. It should not be like that... But Szcuchen Brothers is no different then all the other surrounding restaurants they have all sky rocketed the prices. The mushroom hot pot was delicious I really enjoyed it. I'd love to come back but it's going to be when I have extra money or if I hit the lottery. For working class laborer eating out with these prices is some thing I can Ill afford. But if money is no object for you or if you got the extra cash... Try this place I think you will like it... As a vegan I found I needed to order two entrees just to fill up but it was very delicious... And a super bonus positive they don't use the dreaded MSG.... At least they don't add any msg to your food. Thank You Szcuchen Brothers for not using msg my whole body and soul thank you. The service was pleasant and very prompt. The attending waitresses are very much on the ball and check on you . And the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The ambiance is very nice well lit and open. Also very clean. Not at all like an old school Chinese restaurant that has no windows and is very dimly lit. This place is nice and bright with lots of natural light coming in from the outside and the track lighting is bright enough to see the menu but not to bright that it would bother your eyes.

Yelp
Great food. Love the spicy wontons. Great spicy fish pot. Yummy chicken with chili peppers. Service could be better but is ok enough. Seems like a pretty popular place.
