NYC Chinese Food Delivery: Restaurants Still Open During Coronavirus | Eater NY

"This nine-year-old restaurant is a South Slope favorite, with fans particularly recommending the menu section called Authentic Szechuan Dishes. Many items therein use Sichuan peppercorns; in that section find beef and Napa cabbage with roasted chile, double-cooked streaky pork with spicy Sichuan capsicum, and smoky hot beef with dried tofu. Priced well under $10, lunch specials are a particularly good deal, each entree including fried rice and a choice of soups. Call (718) 788-0788 to order." - Robert Sietsema

Google
Tried this Chinese spot for the first time today and it was amazing! We got the chicken and broccoli with chicken lo mein combo, an egg roll, and beef fried dumplings. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and just hit the spot. The dumplings were perfectly crispy and juicy inside, and the lo mein was seasoned well without being greasy. Great comfort food for a rainy night in — will definitely be ordering again!

Google
Great food! Best Chinese food we've had in this area. The manger was very knowledgeable and helpful and the food was tasty and well prepared. We enjoyed ordering from here, and plan to do so many times again. The best past about it is the numerous vegetarian options available. Much more so than any other restaurants.

Google
I don’t normally leave reviews but I saw this place had 3.7 Stars and that does NOT reflect the true quality, flavor, and overall food at all. This has been my go to Chinese place for months on end and any time I think to order Chinese I always try and order from here. The sesame chicken and pork fried rice combo is fantastic, the udon noodles are amazing, the vegetable lo mein is incredible. They give large portions and I always order on uber and it’s usually around 30-40 minutes to get my food yet it’s always warm and tasty. They always give a ton of spare sauce packets. Highly recommend, don’t listen to these other reviews that may discourage you because this place is truly great.

Google
Super nice and accommodating. They didn't mind several special requests from me which I appreciated a lot. Great menu options, particularly vegetarian options. The faux General Tso's is so tasty! Free WiFi. You can eat in the restaurant side (pretty!) or just order to go. I'm making this my favorite local Chinese food place, and I've tried 6 others in the area.

Google
They clearly just through my lo mein in the microwave and not long enough either. Half of it was warm the other half was ice cold bruh💀

Google
I love that I can just order bean sprouts. The are very accommodating I like all their food except for the egg drop soup it’s to spicy. One other comment they are very sparse on the protein. Like there’s barely any chick in the chicken and vegetables and very very little in the chicken low main. I still order from them all the time because their food is really good.

Google
I found hair in the dish i didn't even told them and throw whole thing away because spot was too unhygienic

Google
Stopped in to place an order to take out. I must say the guy at the counter was really nice when taking my order. The restaurant is very clean and neat. The food is very good and I highly recommend trying them out. I'll definitely be a return customer! My go to for Chinese takeout in Harrison

Yelp
Been a customer for close to 25 years. Put in a phone order (not online) and the additional charges were almost equal to the cost of the low quality food! They didn't even mention the additional charges, they just took them! Food quality isn't worth all the extra charges!

Julie G.

Yelp
$60 for 3 dishes and was horrible. Chicken tasted like fake plastic food. Literally spat out food. Was the worst Chinese I've ever had, never again

Theresa T.

Yelp
To all that go to Szechuan garden BEWARE. when you call up the place to order your food it goes to a paid service somewhere in Mt Kisco. Now the people that answer the phone are Chinese and they take your order but beware THEY CHARGE A $2.15 service charge on your debit or credit card. THEY DO NOT TELL YOU THAT THERE WILL BE A CHARGE ,TILL YOU SEE YOUR STATEMENT . They also now after 30 years Charge .50 cent for the little plastic tub of hot mustard. ! Good luck!

Yelp
My coworkers and I placed an order for delivery through BeyondMenu.com online for this place on break at work. We selected for one of the orders incorrectly by mistake and got a small instead of a combo platter like the rest of the 5 dishes. I called and asked if they can send the order back and for them to send the bigger size order and charge us the difference and they told us " there was nothing they could do." That wasn't right and I'm very disappointed and not pleased. Would never order there again or recommend this place to anyone after being cheap over a dollar difference.

Yelp
Been going here for awhile. Mostly ok food. Service is terrible. They always forget something or get the order wrong and have to come back. This last time they charged me for full orders with full pint size rices instead of combo dinner platers. Duplicate sesame chicken 2 wontons only asked for 1 and $45 dollars for fried rice. They wouldn't give a refund or partial and forced me to dispute it with my credit card.

Yelp
Ordered take-out from this place last night. Food was absolutely disgusting. All dishes tasted exactly the same, starchy, gooey tasteless, slimy. I've eaten too much bad Chinese food in my life. This could be the worst I ever had. And yes, like other reviews said they didn't not include the entire order. I would give zero stars if I could.. This is the kind of restaurant, glob and dump, that gives some Chinese restaurants a bad name.

Yelp
Got the broccoli with brown square , broccoli with garlic sauce and the veggie lo mein. Everything was tasty and fresh. Will order again tomorrow

Yelp
This is a classic place from my childhood. We used to order from here constantly. I had the pleasure of ordering from Szechuan Garden again yesterday and it was delicious as always. I cannot speak on the health value of the food but I can say I am never disgusted. It is always delicious and I think the amount you pay for the food makes it a great deal. I love getting the king pao chicken combination platter. It's an huge egg roll, pork fried rice, and king pao chicken all for only around $10 after tax. Great deal. This place will always be a classic to me and no matter how old I get, I was enjoy it. Great food. Great deals. Good memories.

Yelp
The food was horrible. Chicken wings were dry. The rice taste like shoe leather and nothing taste authentically Chinese the only good thing was the eggroll very Americanized Eggroll but a very good eggroll nevertheless. If you can skip this restaurant if it's good food do you want look elsewhere.

Yelp
Being new to the area, I'm still getting to know what's available around here. I ordered from Szechuan Garden via Uber Eats due to the fact that they offer a larger vegetarian menu than most, outside of Chinatown. The order was delicious, well portioned, and freshly prepared. I'll definitely order again!

Yelp
This place is misleading. I ordered the Seafood Delight which states, "King crabmeat, jumbo shrimp, lobster, scallops, delicately sauteed w. Assorted Chinese vegs. in special white wine sauce" I got a plate of IMITATION crabmeat that made up the majority of the dish. I called the restaurant and they said that they only have IMITATION crabmeat. There is no real crabmeat in their dishes.

Yelp
Very average Chinese takeout. Nothing stands out here. Prices are average for Harrison. Won't recommend but I won't tell you to run either.

Yelp
Excellent Chinese takeout hidden in a tiny corner spot in a supermarket stripp mall in Harrison. Ive ordered from them now 4 or 5 times and never have been disappointed. Their curries are great. Dumplings are great I rarely order shrimp from takeout because it tastes fishy and freezer burned, this places shrimp is delicious in the Mei Fun. They can consider me a regular.

Yelp
ZERO STARS!!! Absolutely DISGUSTED with this place!!!!!! **HAIR IN FOOD AND NO ONE WAS WEARING MASKS** Placed an order tonight for over $70 and usually order from them multiple times a month. When we picked up the order NOT ONE PERSON WAS WEARING A MASK WHILE WORKING!! There was hair found in three of the meals. When we called for a refund they said they want us to "bring back the food with the hair in it." Why this would be asked ESPECIALLY DURING COVID, is beyond me!! The woman on the phone basically told us she thought we were lying. She asked what color the hair was and when we said black, she replied with "all Asian people have black hair." Honestly, we order from there so much and most of the time they mess the order up but I NEVER complain. We will no longer be supporting this location business. A simple refund could have resolved this.

Shelly L.

Yelp
Ok, so this has been my go to Chinese place since landing in Greenwich, CT. Better than average American Chinese. Fresh ingredients, good flavors, fast delivery. I order from here at least twice a month. Strongly recommend. Spring rolls, wonton soup, dumplings, brown rice, veggies, chicken, all great.

Yelp
Got delivery from here based on the good reviews. I must say, they definitely are a cut above the average chinese takeout/delivery spots in the area. You can tell the ingredients they use are better quality. You can taste it in the wontons in the wonton soup, and the quality of the chicken in the general tso's chicken. A little pricier (maybe 20% higher) than other chinese food spots, but worth it IMO. Delivery was fast, but knocking it down to 4 stars because they included a $3 delivery fee that they didn't mention on the phone, nor is it mentioned anywhere on the menu.

Yelp
We were looking for some good Chinese food to order and tried this place out. We ordered beef and broccoli, wontons, orange chicken, and pad thai. It was all just ok... wontons were very doughy, orange chicken also doughy. Would not order from here again.

Yelp
Been eating here for a couple of years! Food has always been fresh and on time! They are super nice, and always courteous on the phone! This place is the best Chinese delivery in Harrison!

Milton G.

Yelp
No complaints. Food is always ready when they say. Plenty of free street parking. Food always good and filling. I must try to sit and eat in the resturant part soon.

Eve A.

Yelp
Really bad customer service Jess the owner really rude called to place an order and in this pandemic you would think people would be nice and appreciative for business but I guess not

Gil D.

Yelp
Just clicked on Yelp and wrote Chinese food in the search bar and saw this place having good reviews. Was on break from work & wanted to know if there was any good Chinese take-out spots around. They all look the same but there food isn't. This place made my food really good, I had the common Sesame Chicken with pork fried rice and an Egg Roll, it was nice, hot and delicious, recommend this place, 5 stars
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
Solid neighborhood chinese spot - ordered takeout and delivery - both are ready quickly and food is hot and fresh. Combo meals that come with fried rice and eggroll are enough food for 2-3 meals so it's a very good value.
google avatar

Seth A.

Yelp
Gross. Orange chicken was all filler and practically no real meat. Sauce tasted like brown sugar. Honestly not sure it was edible.
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
Mediocre Chinese food but they deliver locally; advise going a little further for pickup to Best Chinese on Mamaroneck ave for better quality food

Joanna M.

Yelp
My favorite Chinese takeout- always fresh, and quick delivery. Definitely recommend this place
google avatar

Maria D.

Yelp
Horrible! Food is so salty it's barely edible. Pan fried dumplings and boneless spare ribs were burned. Lo Mein noodles were mushy. Too top it all off it's expensive and the staff is beyond rude! Will NEVER go here again.

James B.

Yelp
Absolutely disgusting food! One big lump of mush! Will never return this is the worst Chinese food I've ever attempted to eat!! Walked in and ordered my food, should be fresh right? No! I ordered the general Gso chicken and house fried rice and I specified three times no onions no scallions Drove five minutes back to my motel room and attempted to eat the general Gso chicken, witch was one big lump of slime! could not pull the chicken apart it was so soggy and gross!!! the rice was full of onions and one big stuck together chunk! Out $23 Total thumbs down
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
Total rating of 4.0 is way off the mark. I had the general Tsao's chicken and the sauce was that thick and coagulated. The pork fried rice was Spanish yellow rice. The staff was nice but the food was not good at all.
google avatar

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Typical take out Chinese food/restaurant. Would not eat in: Poor service, cold interior but clean. Can't have tap water; have to buy bottled water. Street parking. I think all these places buy the same egg rolls, pork fried rice and sauces. They all taste the same. Too much celery & carrots and few chicken pieces in Kung Pow Chicken. The General Tso's Chicken looked good. The vegetables look fresh. Good that they are open until 9:40 pm. Wouldn't go out of my way to order/eat from here. But if you want ordinary quick take-out this place is fine.
google avatar

Cherry H.

Yelp
I ordered Sichuan tofu. Omg! That's the worst Ma po tofu I've tasted ever! Firstly, it's not spicy at all! Secondly, they tasted sweet and sour! If they don't know how to make Sichuan food, they should not be called Szechuan garden. Well, maybe it's an American style Sichuan food but not an authentic Sichuan restaurant.
google avatar

Hali C.

Yelp
I've been to this place for take-out 3 times now! It's delicious! Very convient. They have a huge variety of food and it's a good price. The one time I ordered and waited for the take-out, it took less than 10 minutes to order, get food, and pay! (fyi: when ordering take-out, they charge $1 credit card fee if total is under $15) My chinese mom that came for a visit even said it was pretty good!

Christopher S.

Yelp
I'm an out of towner and I was dropping my sister back off at school. It was getting kinda late and I needed to find a quick dinner. I was browsing the web for some nearby spots and I was very excited to find out they had an entire vegetarian section of the menu with not only just the regular tofu and veggies but a large selection of vegetarian "chicken" dishes. I ordered the Vegetarian Szechuan Chicken and absolutely loved it (though I like it to be a bit spicier). I should have asked what the "meat" was made of but I'm pretty sure it was a seitan. Such a pleasant surprise to find a place that goes above and beyond to accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets and I will definitely return next time I'm in Harrison.

Yelp
Easiest Chinese restaurant to order from. Quick Chinese food is quick Chinese food. Great quality. They deliver promptly. Just order from here folks.

Andrew V.

Yelp
Bad Chinese food, ehh Americanized-Chinese food. I ordered the Dragon and Phoenix which is listed as "shrimp in a hot and spicy sauce with General tsaos on the side," and the Szcheuan Spicy Dumplings. The Dragon entree simply was not spicy at all. Beyond that, the sauce was far from homemade and instead one of those gelatinous pre-made sauces that the food is simply dropped into, instead of cooked in. Worse, it contained all of 3 shrimp and 6 pieces of chicken amongst a generous portion of Bok choy and other vegetables for a $12.95 entree. Secondly, while it was my fault for misspeaking and ordering "Szcheuan spicy dumplings", the man on the phone could have corrected me said that they were "Szcheuan spicy wontons". Regardless of that fact, each wonton contain maybe a half a tablespoon of filling. Again, simply just not spicy. Overall, this place is the late night Chinese you ordered in college, Americanized as can be.

Anthony B.

Yelp
This place is okay, nothing great. Its your standard Chinese food, I wouldn't go out of may to order from here again.

Dom O.

Yelp
Great food. Best Chinese place in Harrison ( considering there is only two) We come here a lot and I'm never ever, disappointed. If you want crap Chinese food, go to a pizza place. But if you want good noodles and shrimp, come here. That is my favorite platter. The people are nice and the decor is too. So if your on a roll ( like I am on this review) come here. And especially if your car broke down and your waiting at blue chip auto repair. At least I thinks that's what it's called!

Lizzie B.

Yelp
Ive been ordering from Szechuan for years and they are always consistant. The ingrediants are always really fresh and ive tried almost everything on the menu its all delicious. They have a new dine in area that is gorgeous, great service, beautifully prepares plates. Try the bubble tea it's delicious as well as the sugar donuts.

Al M.

Yelp
Good Chinese takeout spot, plenty of parking, consistently good food. I like that the lunch special is available on weekends too, not just Monday-Friday, it's a great deal.

David F.

Yelp
Excellent quality food for what is basically a take out establishment. Much better than most "sit down" restaurants. One complaint: The owner (a young woman) can be very "testy" at times. She needs to polish her manners.

Ryan S.

Yelp
Now we're talking. Damn good chinese takeout food. The Gen Tsao chicken is very crispy and crunchy, that's a huge plus. Pork fried rice is flavored just right. The only problem I have, they added too much sugar. It's too sweet. The eggroll needs a little more filling, too much cabbage, not enough pork. But for 7 bucks, I'm happy.

Seane M.

Yelp
I tried Szechuan Garden for the first time tonight and was totally pleased. Their food is tender and is not overrun with sauce. This will definitely be our go to for take out!

Andy G.

Yelp
Good food. Never a disappointment! Combine house special soup with chicken noodle for an outstanding course
