"Szechuan, of course, specializes in Sichuan cuisine: glassy dumplings swimming in chili oil; beef with Sichuan bean curd and peppercorns; dry pot with squid and vegetables. But it also serves Cantonese and Mandarin dishes, plus some Chinese American appetizers like cream cheese wontons. The dan dan noodles are especially popular. Szechuan’s sister restaurant, Jun, helmed by chef Jessie Wong, is another great stop for fiery Sichuan fare." - Eater Staff

A very enjoyable dinner on an early Saturday night. Plenty of seating available for our party of 4. Service was excellent and our food came out very promptly. I enjoyed the Cumin Lamb very much. Not overpowering so as to lose the flavor of the meat. A large bowl of communal rice came with our order. The pork dumplings were a very good starter. Can also recommend the Chung King Spicy Chicken and Pork fried rice. Well worth a visit when in the area

Service was quick since I was the lone customer dinning in. I wished he would had refilled my water though. I had the spicy beef noodle soup. Came out hot but wouldn't say the same about the spice level. Beef was on the saltier side and some peices tasted like it had been left out side on the counter for hours. The noodles seemed to be those hand made noodles which were fine. Also ordered the double cooked pork dish to go. Man I was shocked to find out it was just bacon! Looked more like a stir fried noodle dish.

$19 for 9 shrimp? The cabbage is also discolored—it looks old. That’s $2 per shrimps, definitely not worth it..

UPDATED REVIEW: I came back here with another group of friends. I recommended that we go here after my first experience being so fantastic! This was another wonderful experience. We shared 6 starters, some noodles, fried rice, and 2 meat entrees. Everything was super fresh once again! I loved the soup dumplings - very tender meat and flavorful broth. The sauce on the spicy cucumbers was also really good - it was kind of like a peanut sauce and it wasn’t overly spicy. The scallion pancakes are surprisingly one of my favorite things to get here - really tasty and great sauce pairing. My other favorite thing we tried was the chicken chow fun. The noodles are thick homemade rice noodles and they were insanely good! My only complaint is that some of the portion sizes for the entrees seemed a lot smaller than the first time I came here. They are reasonably priced though and we had good service, so I will absolutely come back again! ORIGINAL REVIEW: A group of us went here for a friend’s birthday dinner. Our server was attentive and all the food was amazing! We shared a lot of different things. My favorite appetizers were the Szechuan dumplings, the cream cheese wontons, and the scallion pancakes! I also tried some lo mein which was pretty good. The chicken and broccoli was great - the chicken was very tender. Everything was really fresh and delicious. Plus they give you huge portions and the price is very reasonable! I will definitely be sure to come back here and try even more menu items!

I ordered a vegetarian stir fry and it was fried to perfection with a medley of fresh veggies, in a house made sauce, a good quantity, and the price was reasonable . There was only one employee in the front of the restaurant, the manager and he handled it well. Everything was delivered timely and in a friendly manner. The egg rolls were ok. I will go back again next time when I'm in the area, or even make a trip over from where I live in NE Mpls for lunch

They were more than willing to answer all my clarifying questions about the menu-the food was insanely tasty and also super well priced-great mixture of veggies in the potato dry pot and all of them cooked to al dente perfection! <3 The twice cooked pork was spicy in the best way-and their green tea is lovely!

Google
Great Chinese restaurant in this area. The food and the service is way superior than any of the traditional Chinese restaurants in MN. The menu selection is plenty of dishes that you will not find in any other place. The prices are very affordable for the service and food that you will get here. If you are looking for a great Oriental dining experience, this is the place to go.

Beef dry pot and Dan Dan noodles were full of flavor. Not your average Chinese food place

Yelp
I have lived in Saint Paul for 23 years and have eaten take out from Szechuan since it opened. We eat there every other weekend. I am astonished by the other restaurants nearby that seem busier but are far less delicious. I've tried most things on the menu and have never not liked an item. My go to for years and years is the Dan Dan Noodle and the Chung King Chili Chicken. These are two of the best dishes in the state of Minnesota and have been for over a decade. My wife and I adore Szechuan on Snelling and if I could give it more than five stars I would. Thank you for the years of delicious food and wonderful service. I wish the entire staff happiness for how much they have brought me happiness.

Yelp
Decent yummy food but maybe they should work on their service instead of hiding in the back the entire time.... The place is pretty cute and small, you can seat yourself. The servers greeted us and gave us another menu. The place has a pretty big menu which offers a variety of cold/hot Asian dishes. My group ordered the five spiced wings, egg rolls, wonton soup, dry pot with meat, spicy chicken, black mushroom tofu and the Korean noodle soup. The wings were really good and crispy! The soup portions were pretty big and filling. The chicken was well cooked and the dry pot was served over a little heater so the meat could keep cooking throughout the meal. We were also given a gigantic portion of rice! It was so far so good as most of us in the group received our order but one person was still waiting for their meal. We waited and waited while our server didn't bother to check in at all.... They completely brushed us off and kept hiding in the back. They didn't bother asking if the food was fine in the first place. Didn't ask if we wanted refills on the water or any other drinks. Finally the server passes near us as she's carrying some dishes and we ask her about the missing dish. She checks in and admits to us that she forgot to place the order then proceed to ask us if we still want it.... Uh.... Yeah we do obviously.... Lol?? She gives us a weak sorry and makes us wait even longer for the final dish. At this point, everyone at the table is almost done with their meal btw and one person is still WAITING. FINALLY, we get the plate for our friend and the check at the same time.... Then she's asking me if we want to-go boxes for everything as if she's trying to get rid of us quickly. How are you going to give us the missing plate, the check, and to go boxes at the same time? Girl what... lol? Like can our friend actually eat the meal they paid for...? It's a bummer because we were really enjoying the food. Not sure if we will be coming back if they can't focus on customer service correctly. The place wasn't that busy and we tried to be understanding but completely blowing us off without checking in until the very end was kinda frustrating.

Deborah B.

Yelp
I will stop anytime I'm in the area just to have the egg drop soup. It's the correct color, consistency, and taste. The only thing that would improve it is scallions on top. Also, the garlic chicken lunch special is banging.

Mandy C.

Yelp
Ate here tonight for the 1st time and ordered Szechuan Dumplings, Sesame Chicken, Ma Po Tofu and Shrimp Lomein and all were pretty darn good. The Sesame Chicken was actually the best we've ever had. It wasn't gummy or dried out like so many other places. It was crispy with just the right amount of sauce. Could have used a few more pieces of broccoli. There were only 2. Dumplings were fab as was the Tofu. Lomein was ok. Not amazing but not bad. Definitely worth checking it out!

Xeng T.

Yelp
First time dine into this place to take my wife to eat, the place was kinda of quite but it was ok, the food was good the coconut shrimp was good and the short rib is good but the services is great but I guess it was too early that they didn"t have enough people came into work yet, so had to grab my own straw. Overall the place is good, we will come back for other food on the menu.

Kedar D.

Yelp
Szechuan seems to be on the decline. We come here a few times per year, but our latest experience wasn't great. The veggie egg rolls ($6 for two) are starchy on the outside and mushy and bland on the inside. Don't order these. The shredded potato with green pepper ($14) was passable at best, with slightly under-cooked potato and an oily blandness. The broccoli in garlic sauce ($14) features unbelievably gloopy, sticky and slimy sauce that had no flavor. The chow fun w/vegetable ($15) looked like it would be great, with homemade noodles, but it tasted bland with overcooked vegetables. The salt and pepper tofu ($15) did taste pretty good, but doesn't travel well as it's fried. The kong pao tofu ($15) was acceptable, but not as good as in my prior visit six months ago. The snow pea tips ($18) were terrible: the pea tips themselves looked old and brown and they almost tasted burnt. All told, we were really disappointed. I hope Szechuan can turn it around with our next visit. If you're looking for really good Szechuan food, check out Legendary Spice in Minneapolis or Grand Szechuan in Bloomington. Lao Szechuan and Tea House in Minneapolis are also decent.

Alitta B.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the dry pot, it was delicious. I just wish it had a bit spicier! The dumplings were also good. I will order from them again.

Debbie K.

Yelp
The service was terrible. After over one hour, she told us 10 more minutes, and promised they were working on our order. After 30 more minutes she said they were not working on our order and it could be another hour. I wish they would have been honest up front. She didn't even bring our egg rolls. It was disrespectful and I will never go back.

Bella T.

Yelp
Preserved egg and Preserved Egg Pork Congee Ordered this for $12 unsure if this is correct. Most places we order this for the same price is twice as much. We ordered end of night,by the time we called in the restaurant was closed so was not able to talk to the restaurant staff on our order. Compared to the size of our ma po tofu which is $16.

September H.

Yelp
My first experience with this restaurant, I do not recommend. The reason I do not recommend is because I just moved in Roseville and I was looking for a Szechuan restaurant to eat because I love Szechuan food. So I ordered the spicy beef noodles, there was one piece of meat in it, or should I say beef fat with very little meat on it. Also, it was very oily from the chili oil so I paid $16 for the flavor soup with noodles, I could've made noodles at home, I also ordered the pork eggrolls. I had to open the eggroll to find the pork. It's sad, if you want to waste your money, go right ahead, but not me anymore.

Lea Ann R.

Yelp
I will not be back. I have been going to this restaurant since they opened and always loved it but the last four times, it's been horrible. They can't seem to get our order right anymore, ever! I just picked up my to go order and I could smell the burnt chicken before I even opened it. Took it back in and the guy was like oh ok. You want to return it... uhhh yes, it's BLACK! His attitude is smart-assy too. I miss their original hostess. Guess they won't mind losing a long-time customer. If anyone has a suggestion for a better Chinese restaurant, I'm all ears.

Cecilia H.

Yelp
Food is ok, the star of the show is the noodles. I like how fresh and thick and tasty they are. This trip, we ordered: dandan noodles - it was ok, I wished it had more spice and flavor to it vs very peanut buttery Scallion pancake - very flaky and crispy but for scallions wise, it was very minimal so basically no flavor just straight up flaky crust Orange chicken - very crispy and orange flavor was not bad Chung king shrimp - lightly battered and flavorful probably the best I ate at this restaurant Hot and sour soup- very sour and bland, I was disappointed because their Sister restaurant Jun in Mpls had very very good soup!

Jacob R.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in on a whim totally starving. It's a fairly small place but tables are distanced. They offered complimentary hot tea and it was very good! I think this is my new favorite, the food was so good. We had the wok tossed edamame(spicy to me but still very good) , cream cheese wontons (YUM) and then I got the general tso, which was a nice sized portion (I had leftoversssss). The chicken was crispy and clean meat and I loved the sauce!

Alice S.

Yelp
We got takeout for Christmas Eve and boy were we happy and full! The soup dumplings, always a risky takeout item, arrived intact and delicious: no sauce needed for these gingery delights! The steamed dumplings were also lovely, as were the pork bao (just ate one for breakfast). On to the main dishes: cumin lamb, salt and pepper tofu, chun king chicken, vegetable lo mein, and sesame chicken. All great, well-spiced and tasty. My husband says the chicken wings are fantastic. So we have our new Szechuan spot!

karen k.

Yelp
Our waiter was one of the best we've had any where in a long time! Observant! We were there with a 3 year old and he knew the drill and helped make sure nothing hot was near her, gave her water in a plastic cup and straw etc. his thoughtfulness make our visit. In addition, my shrimp was great and the others liked their food as well. Be sure to get the dumplings and leek pancakes.

Phillip Y.

Yelp
My wife and I ate here last summer after shopping. We read good reviews so decided to give it a try. The outside looks a little odd and inside not many people since it was 5PM. After a few minutes, we saw several Asian families came in which is good sign. I got hot and sour soup and my wife got wonton soup to start. Afterwards, I ordered seafood and tofu casserole and my wife got the Korean noodle. It was a nice balance since my wife's dish was pretty spicy. Very good value and had extra to bring home for leftovers the next day. We enjoyed a second helping since it was very filling with generous portions.

Jeffrey A.

Yelp
I've worked in the area for years and have many visits under my belt to this restaurant. The menu has significantly changed with the new west coast chef coming to town a few months back. The menu does still have the American Chinese favorites but if your looking for spice and heat they now have some serious dishes to get your nose running. Noodles here are hand made and delicious. We always go for the Korean noodle soup. Some other new favorites are the Hunan Marbled Beef, boiled beef w. Rattan pepper, Chung king style fish. The young american server here is great and very hard working, and consistently demonstrates his understanding of the menu.

Patti I.

Yelp
This used to be my go-to Sichuan restaurant in town, but I can't say I'm thrilled with their new menu featuring "West Coast Sichuan" food. A group of us ordered several items for carryout to eat at home. Here's the rundown: They no longer serve "Ma La You Hua" spicy fish (fish and vegetables in spicy red broth buried in chili peppers.) Instead, the featured dish is "Fish and tofu with rattan peppers"--rattan peppers being green Sichuan peppercorns. The dish is spicy and sour but lacking the strong numbing quality of the old version. I miss it! Bamboo basket lamb featured chunks of lamb dry-cooked with large amounts of chopped celery, cilantro, and chiles. It was spicy and flavorful but I burned out on the heaps of celery and cilantro. Dry cooked green beans were reliably good. Chongqing style chicken was quite oily and cut with lots of green peppers--not as good as the one they used to make. Singapore rice noodles are not something I would have thought to order at a Sichuan restaurant, but someone in our group requested them. They had an interesting curry flavor and gave us a nice break from the hotness of the fish and lamb dishes. We also got juicy buns that were not juicy. That may be because the broth soaked into the wrappers in transit. To be safe I would only order those when eating at the restaurant, and consume them the minute they came out of the kitchen.

Malee X.

Yelp
I've eaten at this place many times already and this is my first time ordering out. I think this place is a great place to get Chinese comfort food. Their menu is pretty big too and they have dishes from chung king chicken to beef noodle soup. I highly recommend their beef noodle soups. This place is always clean on the inside and good comes out at a good pace.

Bob I.

Yelp
The spicy beef noodle/rice soup was absolutely delicious, and the pan fried pork dumplings were great!

Sokim V.

Yelp
I have to give it to these guys. They must have the best customer service in town. Seriously! The menu was limited but seemed to offer a taste for everyone. It was a casual, intimate atmosphere I felt. The food quality and display was excellent. I was immensely impressed by their customer service because one, they made me feel I was important. That although I was a party of one with one order, they treated me as they did other parties of 2 or more. I didn't feel dismissed or forgotten at all. I was delighted when the server offered me tea as well. Tea was hot, fresh, & tasty! I ordered one of their vegetable dishes, Chinese broccoli with white rice. It was a day or so after thanksgiving and I realized I hadn't had enough greens in my life. So I opted for my favorite vegetable dish. To my surprise, I finished the whole dish. I'll have to try other dishes next time. I look forward to their amazing service again!

Hli M.

Yelp
I always love me good dumplings and DanDan noodles, especially since I had them in various other places I've traveled to. So when someone suggested this place, I was like, yeah!! Somewhere nearby!! So disappointed. The dumplings were too thick in flour, and was not that smooth texture you expect from dumplings. The soup dumplings texture was the same. Not good. The DanDan noodles didn't have that chili oil taste that I expected and the flavor was just missing in general. I couldn't go beyond a few bites, and couldn't get myself to pack it to go after we were done. Sorry, I just didn't like it.

Chris K.

Yelp
Szechuan is *the* best Chinese food in the twin cities. They are serving flavorful, delicious food that has all the right textures, temperatures, and tastes. I love the steam buns, scallion pancakes, and La Zi Chicken in addition to all the American Chinese favorites - like walnut shrimp. Seriously - SO SO GOOD!!!! Also the waitstaff has always been prompt, kind, and courteous. Nothing but positives from this little spot on Snelling.

Tim S.

Yelp
Once again, I paid attention to the Review of the Day, and once again, I was able to convince my friend, Jack, to try out a new place for us at lunch. Szechuan is pretty close to our work, so we were surprised we hadn't eaten here before. First off, the place is very clean. So you know that makes me happy. I love steamed dumplings, and Szechuan serves theirs with a twist. They make it spicy with chili paste. I'm sold, but the only downside is that the dumplings are swimming in some of the chili paste oil. I told Jack that I judge an Asian restaurant by their Ma Po Tofu. This one was pretty good. Not great, but good for me. For both the food reasons, plus the cleanliness of the place, I give Szechuan a four out of five stars. Jack had the Lemon Chicken, and we both prefer the version that serves a chicken breast without a lot of breading. This one is the latter, but Jack said that and the Hot and Sour Soup were good. Prices were good and the portions are generous. Next time I may order off the lunch menu as I wasn't able to finish mine, and I can pack it away. So thanks for highlighting Szechuan as a ROTD. Goes to show you really should log into Yelp on a (at least) daily basis!

Sue S.

Yelp
We ate at Szechuan once when we first arrived in the Twin Cities almost two years ago now, and I'm kind of embarrassed that it has taken us this long to get back there. But we did finally go back. Szechuan is one of those awesome find kind of places that's tucked away in a strip mall and easy to miss. To get to it, turn onto the side street where the Outback is. Don't make the mistake of thinking you can turn right into the strip mall from Snelling because you can't, and you have to go a fair ways before you can make a U turn. So head for the Outback and find your way to the access road from there. OK, food: We totally love the Szechuan dumplings in chili oil, which are on the appetizer list for like $7 or something ridiculously cheap like that. They are lovely (pork, i think) dumplings that come drenched in the most amazing chili oil and big pats of pressed garlic. Oh -- soooo yummy. The dan dan noodles are pretty decent though not as spicy as I'd like. I got the peking pork this time around, and asked for the pancakes too (extra charge).. The pork was super yummy, with the right kind of hoisin flavor and that delightfully crunchy yet sticky flavor that seems to be iconic of peking anything. We also got the chicken with mixed vegetables, which was fine, but paled in comparison with everything else we ordered. Szechuan is a really nice option for authentic Chinese in the area, and it is super delicious. Oh, and the tea is really good -- not watered down and served in an actual ceramic tea pot instead of a metal one. Bonus!

Ben H.

Yelp
Some good, some OK, but for the love of God if you order Szechuan Dumplings via bitesquad, you probably wont get it, what the hell. Only go-to I've tried is the is the Chung King Spicy Chicken & the Boiled Beef in Szechuan Hot Sauce

Justine L.

Yelp
Finally, a great Chinese restaurant in the Twin Cities! As an American-born Chinese, I'm a Chinese food snob... and this place is where I go for some home-cooking. For you Minnesoteans: this place is truly spicy, so beware. The ma po tofu is my favorite, and has a particularly lip-numbing spice to it. The spicy eggplant is also delicious. I was a little disappointed in their Peking duck, but you really can't beat Chinatown in NYC for that. Their beef chow fun is truly authentic (reminds me of Mom's). Love the decor (it's clean!), and the service is top notch (especially for a Chinese restaurant). The wait staff have a great memory (I've only been there a few times, but they always remember me), and they are extremely patient with my butchered-heavily-American-accented Chinese. Two thumbs up from this Asian.

Sonja P.

Yelp
Real talk: these are the best scallion pancakes either my fiancée and I have had outside of Chinatown in NYC or SF. As for the rest of the food... the best Szechuan I've had in Minneapolis, and rivals some coastal options. Phenomenal selection of authentic dishes, and we are excited to come back and try the rest. Today we had the green beans (a personal obsession of mine) which were flavorful and perfectly cooked-- maybe slightly over salted but super great anyway. The Shan Jiao beef was also great.. stir fried deliciousness with jalepenos and peanuts. Both came with a generous serving of rice. I love it when restaurants don't skimp on the rice... especially when the food is spicy. Service was prompt and attentive but not overwhelming. Can't wait to come back.

Peter S.

Yelp
We've been coming here since they opened. It's an interesting menu, as they serve Szechuan, but also northern appetizers, some Cantonese choices, and Korean noodles? In any case, everything I've ever ordered here has been delicious, and it's really the only Authentic Chinese place in this part of town. The next closest you'd have to get to Dinkytown or Stadium Village. In that respect this place really stands out. It is on the spendy side for what you get. I just don't get why the Szechuan places in town think they can charge 20-30% more for food just because they have Szechuan in their name. It's not freaking sushi!! Well the rant aside, when we're in Roseville and don't want to drive to Dinkytown, this is our stop for real Chinese. Disclaimer about other posts complaining about "oily" dishes. Szechuan pepper sauces are oily. The pepper essence is in the oil, and also all the full-bodied flavor. If you don't like oil in your food order the other stuff. FYI I'm Cantonese. Bear in mind that for weekend dinner hours the parking lot is a zoo because of the popularity of the bar at Outback. So come here for lunch or weeknights. Go for the Dan Dan noodles, the pork soup dumplings, scallion cakes, any of the Szechuan pepper sauce entrees (HOT!!) especially the whole fish, and all the noodle soups are great.

Z'ea B.

Yelp
#secretKoreanmenu in the back- Jamppong-korean seafood noodle soup-yumz -normally after few bites I'm done with this, but here -love the broth-soup is awesome-! Jjajangmyun-korean black bean sauce noodle with meat n vegetables-served with side of the yellow radish, onion, n sauce-yaaasss!! -juicy mini buns-gotta order every time-so yummy!! -definitely be back for each n every one! -my new favorite place! I'll be a regular fo sho!

Rachel M.

Yelp
Our waiter was extremely rude and looked like he wanted everyone to leave the restaurant immediately. He didn't even bother asking us if we wanted anything to drink besides the water he gave us when we sat down. When we asked for takeout boxes he watched us scoop the food into them before getting impatient and then coming over and passive-aggressively put the food into the container, and then said "You see how you do it?" I can see why the place was so empty - the food was subpar at best. Only plus side is your food arrives pretty quickly. Other than that...skip this place. Do not recommend.

Mitchell H.

Yelp
Great music. Fantastic waiters. Very reliable fortune cookies. Dank wontons. A must get, made with all natural Philadelphia garden vegetable cream cheese. A must get. The general tso's chicken is aight. Bathrooms are not cleanest.

Willie B.

Yelp
You wouldn't guess at the quality of the food here by looking at the strip-mall location. Our party of four ordered and shared; Szechuan Dumplings With Chili Sauce, Shredded Pork With Green Peppers, Pan Fried Salted Pork, Peking Noodle, and House Special Fried Rice. We dined early so we had the dining-room almost to ourselves. The service was just fine, but the food was excellent. I can't wait to plan a return trip!

Jennifer H.

Yelp
A group of us went to lunch here. We all wanted to try different things so we ordered family style. First up were the cold noodles. Simply cold noodles with a peanut and chili sauce (I think). Super simple, but very tasty. We ordered a pork dish, which one escapes me at the moment. It isn't presented very well, but is surprisingly good. Sesame chicken was decent. The Boiled Beef in hot Szechuan sauce. Was quite tasty. It was the group's favorite entree.

Nichole R.

Yelp
Most delicious Beef & Broccoli I've ever had in my life. That's how I'm going to start this review. In fact, it's worth coming JUST for that. The beef is SO tender it practically melts in your mouth; that's always the downfall of most other place's beef and broccoli - it's just a little too tough or fatty. Not Szechuan! The flavor is also perfect. It's a huge win all over the place. Some other things are hit or miss here. The eggrolls are pretty good with an awesome dipping sauce. The Beef Chow Fun is good but I felt it was lacking a little flavor - i doused it in chili oil. Fried rice is skippable, same problem. Ultimately I just come for the beef and broccoli. It's worth seeking out.

Kaosong Y.

Yelp
This is one my of our favorite spots for lunch. They have great lunch specials. I usually get the bamboo tips with pork. It comes with fried or white rice, An egg roll and soup. The service is quick and good. I haven't had much else there but what I see on other tables looks great as well.

Sue A.

Yelp
Everything we have tried at Szechuan has been excellent, including the Ma Po Tofu, the dumplings, and several other dishes. Kids especially like the soup dumplings, but please be careful, if you order, that they understand that they are full of soup and not to burn their mouths. They are tasty. Fresh and delicious! The staff is considerate and kind. We will definitely be back! Thank you for this delicious food and great service!

Harshada S.

Yelp
I don't like Chinese food much and I used to eat rarely until I found my favorite dish in well decent restaurant Szechuan. The only dish I have loved is stir fried Singapore noodle with shrimps and I have it whenever I visit my friends at Roseville. Our usual order include below: Stir fried Singapore noodle with shrimp - level spicy. Oh my when I say spicy meaning eye watering spicy. Me and my friend's family enjoy spicy so it works for us but do specify level of spicy ness just to be on safe. Rating 5/5 Lamb with cumin sauce - rating 4/5 Lamb with scallions - 3.5/5 Service : 4/5 Quality: 4/5 Parking: 5/5 - easy to find parking here. It's far from the place I live but I visit this restaurant just to have stir fried Singapore noodles and the taste is so unique I haven't encounter in any other restaurant!!!

FJ F.

Yelp
The shop is nice and has decent environment. Menu has plenty to choose as well. When it comes down to the dishes, the ones we normally ordered have their own spin but not in the way I like those dishes: very dry garlic pork belly appetizer, ma la hot pot fish with five spice, beef chow fen has almost no soy source and flavor, west lake soup is more like toufu soup.... The chow mein is fine and the highlight as we have a few kids eating there. Overall decent place and may try some other dishes if we may go back. Tip in the final bill and did not let us know neither. My friend called that out.

Kent P.

Yelp
Got takeout delivered for lunch, their food was really good. I would definitely order again, there are a couple other local places that I prefer a little bit more but it was good

Still my favorite Chinese restaurant, and with the new chef, it's even better than before. Standouts are the ma po tofu, beef boiled in Szechuan spicy sauce, Szechuan dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, and for the new stuff, the hu Nan beef was awesome, as was the beef boiled with rattan peppers. Great place for traditional Szechuan food as well as what they call West coast Szechuan. Great place, and they will make food very spicy on request, which surprisingly is hard to find.

Yelp
Ok, you got to know what to order....ordered their specialties!! I've been here a few times and I've had items that were complete crap but there were many good ones as well. Their Dan dan noodles were not good, scallion pancake was horrible, their roast duck was dry, and seafood noodle was bland and boring with only cuts of squids. I've had other items that were not good as well but forgot their names. Their items were expensive too. I recommend the tea smoked duck, pork intestine hot pot, double cooked pork, and Szechuan dumplings.

Yelp
Flavorful and a treat for a discerning palette that craves authentic Szechuan food. We tried the juicy mini buns, spicy wontons in chili sauce, Dan Dan noodles, eggplant in garlic sauce, and the seafood noodle soup (Korean menu). The noodles are home made and were very tasty. The eggplant was flavorful and had a nice runny sauce as I don't like this dish when the sauce is too coagulated. The seafood noodle soup was flavorful and hearty. Only dish that I prefer eating elsewhere are the juicy buns which were average.

Yelp
Ordered a month ago and it was pretty good, so ordered again today. General chicken is the exact same as sesame chicken without the sesame, nothing special. The chicken was grey and didn't taste even close as last time. We both feel super crappy after eating. The $2 egg rolls are literally 3 inches, tiny. For the price, you should get twice as much, the portions are TINY! Hardly any chicken for $11.99. It's like $5 worth of food. Fortune house in little Canada gives you twice as much as this place and costs 2/3 the price. The delivery driver was a lady who looked whacked out and sweating a lot, it's only 60 degrees. Oh and to ad, the cream cheese won tons were somehow had burnt spots but cold cream cheese on the inside. Was disappointed.

Yelp
We came here on 12/26. The service was very slow due to a large takeout order placed. The server was nice about it and brought complimentary tea to the tables. We only waited about 25 minutes but others had waited twice that time. We ordered green beans only to be told 10minutes later they were out, we ordered bok choy a substitute, 10 minutes later same thing, so we got Chinese broccoli . That they had. It was fine but a little tough to eat. We had a double fried pork belly which was filled with jalapeños. The pork was tender and tasty. The orange chicken my daughter ordered was all breading, very disappointing . When we got our check we noticed we had been charged the more expensive amount for the broccoli . In my opinion we should have been charged for the less expensive green beans. The juicy buns were ok, Tea House's are better. We tried to go there originally but it was closed. I wouldn't skip this restaurant but I won't go out of my to return.

Yelp
It's been a while since I was this impressed by a restaurant in a strip mall! I wish that Szechuan's chef Don Jian lived in my kitchen so he could make me the fish in chili broth on a daily basis.. The dish was simple: tender, flaky white fish swimming in a flavorful, spicy, oily chili broth with sprouts and herbs. We literally spent most of dinner raving about how good this was. Order it. Thank me later. The pork/chicken wontons and the beef with peppers weren't as memorable, but we raved (not as enthusiastically as we did about the fish, but raved nonetheless) about the tea smoked duck with ginger and the black mushrooms and bok choy. The dumplings with chili sauce were awesome as a starter too, and the only smaller sized portion of the night. Everything tasted fresh, distinct and was obviously cooked to order (not wok'd up for five minutes with one of three different sauces like many Chinese restaurants). The presentation was excellent as well (I wish I had taken photos). Our server brought each item out as it was prepared, so it wasn't exactly typical service, but it was all hot when it arrived at the table and I'd prefer that anyway. In hindsight, we should have ordered only 2-3 main dishes to share between four of us last night. That makes it pretty affordable too, since each entree ($9-17) is the equivalent of 4-5 normal sized meals. It was an obscene amount of food. I nearly exploded. Tip: I would just ignore all of the Americanized Chinese dishes like sesame chicken and General Tso's and pay attention to the "Szechuan Specialties" section of the menu. That's where it's at. The fish and the duck were on that page...

Yelp
Pretty chill and relaxing place. No complaint with their customer service, they're pretty good about it. Just wish that the portion of food would be bigger. General tso chicken was at least 12 dollar but the portion you get ain't as big compared to other places. But overall.. I will come here again though :) heheh. Need to come here a couple more times to explore their menu and really know how I feel about this restaurant.

Yelp
First and last visit to this location. I was fairly optimistic with all of the endorsements on the door, but our visit was a huge let down. During the lunch hour I would expect that there would be more than two servers on in a busy packed restaurant. The pleasant gentleman that seated us was nice and took our drink orders fairly fast, but the speed ends there. My beverage came in a glass with a thick film around it. I couldn't get a new one for about 20 minutes. A party of 6 came in a long time after us and were waited on immediately. It took about 25 minutes just to place our order. We would've left and just paid for the sprite, but there was no one around. Finally a woman came to take our order who had some highly unfavorable lingering toxic breath making it really hard for me to be hungry. I'm sorry, but that just about sent my stomach over the edge. She was very sweet and I don't mean to be mean, it just wasn't very pleasant to have to endure. The food is alright, nothing spectacular. The hot and sour soup was not even hot temperature wise. The pork with bamboo shoot tips were alright. I tasted some of J's sesame chicken and thought it was gross. Really doughy batter and what seemed to be really low quality chicken. After waiting forever to get our bill, someone finally came to the register so we could pay. As an added bonus, I looked down and noticed a fresh huge grease stain on my jacket from where it must have been sitting on an already greasy chair.

Yelp
Much more than I would expect from a strip mall Chinese restaurant. Delicious, spicy Szechuan options like the Farmers chicken along with solid classics like moo shu pork. Broccoli with garlic sauce is a good veggie side. Have always had pleasant service and the food has always been hot and fresh.
