The 10 Best Fried Chicken Sandwiches in LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"For a chicken sandwich that looks like a frisbee slapped between bread, head to Daybird. The thinly-pounded cutlets are nearly twice the bun’s size, so you don’t get any of the zesty chive-cabbage slaw and pickled chiles until you’re halfway through—something we don’t mind because the Sichuan-spiced chicken is so superb. This causal Virgil Village strip mall spot marinates its poultry in a mouth-tingling mixture of chile de arbol and Sichuan peppercorns, which delivers the spiciness you’d want from hot chicken, minus the constant need to wipe sauce from your lips. If you want something with less burn, they also do a Tawainese popcorn chicken-inspired sandwich topped with fried basil." - sylvio martins, garrett snyder, arden shore, brant cox

I could cry tears of joy!!!! Been living in Pittsburgh for 3 years and though this city has some sparks of noodle and dumpling greatness. The all around Chinese food is sorely lacking. Stumbled across Szechuan Spice during a trip to the natural history museum (right across the street!). I ordered the chef special beef with pickled pepper.... AH! Real flavor! Real Szechuan heat! My partner and I were so impressed with our dine in meals, we ordered take out this weekend, and were delighted to find the quality not only of the food, but the delivery packaging itself was on point. I implore you to stop by, as I need this restaurant to stay successful and thriving; so I can keep coming back for more of their food.

I went here during lunch time. It's a big place. But during lunch time, it seemed empty. I went there for the beef noodles. I couldn't tell if the noodles were freshly made but it didn't taste like dry noodles either. The broth was simple and not over powering. From what I observed the service was good and personable. I would have to try it at a different time to recommend or not. But definitely worth a try.

Google
This place is absolutely amazing. I got the vegetarian mapo tofu, cucumber salad in scallion sauce, and Chengdu kung pou chicken. The mapo tofu was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! It was heart-warming, authentic, and perfectly spicy. I can't wait to come back and get more. (The portions are crazy huge so make sure you have fridge space for leftovers!)

What a gem this place is ! During my weekend stay in the city here we had to come back twice ! The second time I ordered the grilled whole fish and it was unbelievable! 10/10 would highly recommend

Huge menu, tasty food. Try the walnut shrimp (the sauce is sweet though), the pork belly and the pork dumplings. These were all great! Especially the dumplings they're 10/10. General tsao was average at best. And they give you a fortune cookie at the end :)

Let me start with the building from the outside you would think the place inside would be rundown and old but that is far from the case. Inside was clean and the seating was very comfortable. Let's get to the food You will have two menus built into one and let me go into that. The first menu, which has a green border, is American style Chinese affair so familiar tastes with nothing to extreme for an American. My wife and daughter ordered from this section of the menu and the food they got was indeed very good. The second menu, which has a red border, is actual traditional Chinese versions of many of the same dishes. This isn't for beginners or people used to the American style Chinese. The flavors and tastes you will experience as well as the addional ingredients not found in the American style would be very difficult for someone who hasn't tried true Chinese style cooking. This was the menu I selected from and indeed it's very traditional indeed. The soup I had was spiced very nicely and was very heavy on oil which I like. As you can see in my photo the bowl is very large and it would be best shared instead of by a single individual but you will have a solid two meals if you order it for just yourself. The quality was excellent and the flavor was on point. Word of caution to those who go the traditional style and haven't before. The broth is spicy and the oil is heavy your body will experience cramping, flatulence and a runny stool if you body isn't used to it so start slow if it's your first time. Even for someone like me who has had many of this authentic food it still got to me a bit but for someone new prepare yourself for that to occur if you consume and entire meal. Overall this is a fantastic place and you will not be disappointed no matter if you go the American style Chinese or the traditional style.

Google
I'm quite surprised by this place, since their food was very good. Some have noted that the prices are a bit high, but they are not outrageous. They are definitely worth the quality, and this is the spot to head to if you want high quality food in decent portions, not cheap American-Chinese. Today, I tried the pork dumplings with sauce, scallion pancake, and tapioca pudding. I've been on a recent dumpling-kick, so I can say Szechuan Spice's are pretty good. The shell is not too thick (New Dumpling House has much thicker shells) and the meat is quite flavorful. I would have wanted the meat to be cooked for a little longer though. Portion wise, this was decent. Prices are a tad higher. This is my first time trying a scallion pancake. There isn't a strong scallion taste to it, which I think I prefer. The texture and flavor is similar to Indian paratha, if you have ever tried that. I enjoyed this pancake and thought again, the portion was decent. Their side sauce is amazing! Seriously delicious, and it went with both the dumplings and the scallion pancake. I would dunk almost any appetizer in this. It's perfectly balanced, a little bit on the sweeter side. They also give you complimentary fortune cookies like most places. One of them was a little stale, so they weren't too good. Their tapioca pudding was also new to me. The tapioca pearls certainly give you a unique texture. The milk (I assume it's milk) is tasty and creamy. You'll find pieces of what seems to be taro in here, too. Not a huge fan of that, since it's a strange texture and flavor. This is not a very sweet dessert, but it seems authentic. All in all, if you're looking for Chinese food that's not too expensive but still tasty and authentic, this could be your spot. Portions are pretty decent and they have numerous unique dishes. Love their dumpling sauce!

Google
Fantastic customer service, excellent food, everything was made to order so they were able to make a vegetarian mapo tofu without pork and it was so tasty. I called and the person working there was excellent, said to order with them over the phone because it was cheaper/faster/easier than DoorDash and their delivery person was prompt and wonderful. Would highly recommend the food and the service - definitely just call them instead of using an app!

Yelp
Love this hidden gem! All the food I tried while visiting Pittsburgh on a work trip was delicious! 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Yelp
I ordered takeout online for 1-1:10pm and it was ready right on the dot. I walked in, grabbed it from a table, and then walked out in a matter of seconds. The food itself is packaged well and my takeout container was wrapped in plastic wrap which I appreciated. I also got a napkin, a utensil, and a fortune cookie. The general tso's portion is generous and enough for two meals for me. I thought the sauce was good although I wish the breading was a bit more crispy.

Yelp
I got the wonton soup (4/5) and fried sautéed frog (4.5/5). Both were good. The frog was really good; there was a lot of meat on the bones, way more than I've gotten at other places. It also came with a lot of rice, and the vegetables were good. It was a lot of food and a good value! The service was good (4/5)! They did an excellent job of keeping our waters filled and got the check pretty quickly. However, I ordered the frog with picked turnip, but I think I got the fried frog instead. I could have been a bit clearer ordering though, so that is on me a little. The interior of the restaurant is good, nothing out of the ordinary (3/5). Overall, it is a solid choice! I am excited to try more options from their big menu and will likely take advantage of takeout!

Yelp
This place was delicious and I really liked hanging out with my mom. We got to real talking today and ate some delicious food that we took home so I could eat at school for the week. I really like days like this.

Yelp
The most slept on Chinese spot in the city. BY FAR Went on a weekday night and there was only one other table in the entire restaurant so we were looked after by the staff well. You can tell this is mainly a takeout spot. I would recommend sitting there so you can get it all fresh The Szechuan dumplings were immaculate. The Szechuan oil they were bathed has a good ass spice to it without losing its flavor which many people can't seem to ever nail. Well they nailed it here The beef (apologies can't remember the exact dish) had the same Szechuan style of spice to taste but the beef itself was a little too salty Def hit this place up, you won't be disappointed

Allie C.

Yelp
I ordered online from Szechuan Spice and tipped only to find that the place was closed during hours when they were supposedly open. I was charged for my purchase and will never be ordering from here again. It's a scam

Jennifer B.

Yelp
The eggplant in garlic sauce is delicious. The shrimp rice roll was ok as I was hoping the noodle was made fresh. No frills place, quick service and long menu.

Yelp
Very well situated between two nicer neighborhoods, I'd have expected more customers on a Thursday night. I was greeted by an older white gentleman to a fairly large establishment, most of the neighborhood could dine here if they desired. I ordered a tofu dish that was "authentic Szechuan" but wasn't. It came out nearly immediately and was warm and delicious, the waiter brought be chili oil at my request. This part of Pittsburgh needs to show up here and turn out! They might be hiding a secret!
google avatar

Yelp
A hidden gem that deserves a gold star for executing on authentic Sichuan dishes, including beef noodle soup, mapo tofu, and dandan noodles. Service has always been respectful and prompt, and one can often find tables filled with Chinese families and students alike.

Yelp
I stopped here for lunch with a group of coworkers. We decided to dine in and were seated right away since most of the tables were empty. The atmosphere is relaxed with distinctly Asian decor and white table cloths. Despite the formal decor, this is definitely a casual spot. The menu was a mix of traditional authentic Chinese, American Chinese, and other Asian dishes like pad thai. I ordered the beef and mixed vegetables with fried rice. It was tasty and met my expectation for this dish based upon experiences at other Chinese restaurants. Next time, I would like to try some of the other more authentic Chinese dishes, which seem to be more their specialty. Service was fast and our waiter was friendly. If you're looking for Chinese food in the Shadyside area, this is a great place to stop by and try.

Yelp
Sooo yummy so yummy!!!! Def recommend! Their dim sum was good!! Service was quick! Dumplings were warm not hot but still very good!

Yelp
I went here last week. Food wasn't bad but then we saw mice running around in the dining area and immediately felt uncomfortable eating there so we got our food to go and left, but we didn't eat it and threw it out. Giving two stars instead of one because the rest of the experience was good.

Deb M.

Yelp
I just had the BEST Szechuan veggies & rice I have ever had! Just discovered this place and I will be a "regular!" The food was ready in 10 minutes. It was hot and oh so delicious! Such a variety of veggies. The sauce was a perfect blend of spices! The rice...OMG...soft and fluffy yet perfectly sticky! Reasonably priced. I would give 10/10 stars if I could!

Yelp
Ordered on UberEats and the service was quick and accurate. The dinners were all very large portions The walnut chicken was different than anything else I've tried. It was a blend of sweet and savory and had chunks of pineapple and toasted walnuts in it. The combination of flavors was really good and I'd order again Spring rolls and egg rolls were good. Szechuan dumplings were spicy but super flavorful and different. Would order again Orange chicken was really good. Eggplant in garlic sauce was super good. It was almost vinegar-y, but savory. Really good The prices are a bit higher than other places but it's worth it. You can taste the difference in quality.

Yelp
Unassuming place, but some of the best Szechuan food I've had in a while. I ordered the chicken feet with black bean sauce as an appetizer and Peking duck (half) for an entree. Both delicious. The black bean sauce had great acidity, and the Peking duck was a great mix of fatty and juicy. It's very spacious inside with some nice decorations, and all the staff were kind. I can't wait to return and try some other entrees.

Yelp
Delicious authentic Chinese food. Really good service and clean surroundings. I would highly recommend trying their food .

Yelp
Amazing food. Giant very authentic menu. I love the mapo tofu, hand cabbage, Chengdu kung pao chicken and cumin beef. Easily the best Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh.

Yelp
I ordered a pick up of hot & sour soup and fried dumplings. The total came to about $16.50. I had to put in a tip amount to complete the order. In this case, it was zero as I picked it up. I paid at the restaurant via credit card and another request for a tip. Zero. I'm glad I did. Instead of hot & sour soup, they gave me a very weak soup with two tiny won tons. The fried dumplings were quite small.

Yelp
I stopped by here a couple of Saturday evenings ago with my wife for takeout. Szechuan Spice is located on Center Avenue in the Shadyside/Friendship area. Since I love authentic Szechuan food I was absolutely pumped to try this place. We decided to place our order by phone and a polite gentlemen answered and quickly took our order. He told us that our food would be ready in 20 minutes. Whenever I got to the restaurant 25 minutes later my food was indeed ready. The inside of this place was massive but it looks like during Covid that they are only doing takeout. While inside I did see a poster advertising their push cart dim sum on weekends which was presumably from before the pandemic, but it's definitely something I am interested in. In any case, I ended up getting checked out by the same gentleman that I talked to on the phone and it was quick and easy. Whenever we made it back to our house my wife and I opened our food. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the Dan Dan noodles as well as the three pepper chicken while my wife went with a lo mein and we split an order of pork and cabbage dumplings. I started off with the Dan Dan noodles and thought that they were good. You could definitely taste the nuttiness in it and I also enjoyed the ground pork. However I wish there had been some more mala to it. After finishing with that I proceeded to eat my entree. It was a good dish as the chicken was cooked nicely and it definitely had a ton of heat to it from the long hot peppers and dried peppers. What I didn't get was any ma which I thought was supposed to come from pepper 3, the Sichuan peppercorn. So that was a little bit disappointing for me. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I thought that my dishes could have used some more numbing, I did still enjoy them and I am happy patronize another place with authentic Sichuan dishes.

Yelp
This is by far our favorite Chinese Szechuan restaurant. The food is always delicious and the portions are huge. Favorite dishes are the mapo tofu, mao's pork belly, black pepper shrimp and general Tso's chicken, just to name a few!
google avatar

Roxy M.

Yelp
I tried this spot to go. A customer was leaving and I asked her what was good. She said the walnut chicken. I should have listened to her. I loved the shrimp and vegetables. The General Tso's chicken was fried way too hard. If I was close and had not gotten home I would have returned it. The beef and broccoli was good and the meat was tender. Next time I must try the walnut chicken or shrimp.

Yelp
Came for Dim Sum on a Sunday afternoon only to find out that they haven't had it available for two years. They really need to take down the sign out front advertising it. The food was good, but not what we were hoping for. Server was attentive and offered suggestions for other places in nearby cities that do offer Dim Sum.

Yelp
This place is so good. I don't even live in Pittsburgh anymore but I do try to order from here whenever I come back to visit. I usually get take out so can't talk about the dine in ambiance experience. Service at pickup has always been friendly and efficient. Most recently I got three of my favorites for dinner. The Chongqing Diced Chicken, pieces of crispy crunchy fried chicken pieces with hot numbing peppers. Great balance of spicy, savory, and salty. The breading stays crunchy even when reheating the leftovers. I also got the mapo tofu, soft and silky tofu with lots of minced pork in a spicy sauce. No other place compares. The eggplant in garlic sauce is also delicious. Mouth watering and the eggplant is cooked perfectly. The portions at this place are also huge! I usually have leftovers for two or three meals after.

Yelp
Love this place. We keep coming back. Food is a tad on the more expensive side of Chinese restaurants, but they have an authenticity that is just lacking in the most common Chinese take-out places. Some dishes that we highly recommend: - shredded beef with hot pepper - double sauteed pork - Singapore mein fun. - beef with bamboo (forgot the actual name of dish) - beef trip and tongue in chili oil Honestly, don't know if I ever ran into a dish I didn't like from here. We kept coming back to this place when we first came to Pittsburgh (like a month ago) and always have to stop ourselves so we can try other places haha. The other thing about this place is that they have lunch specials for about $10. Would highly recommend it. Order from the Szechuan side. They carry a flavor of home for us.

Yelp
I was having a rough day and what's better when you're having a bad day than not having to make dinner?? Nothing...well maybe having a good day! Anyway I ordered crab rangoon and pad thai with chicken and shrimp. The delivery said 50-70 minutes but the food arrived well before that, which was awesome! The crab rangoon is in my favorite shape (the squares instead of the crowns) and it's pretty good. The pad thai has a different flavor/sauce from what I'm used to but it's not bad. The portion is huge so I'll definitely have leftovers. The chicken and shrimp is cooked well! Looking forward to ordering from them again hopefully without needing to have a bad day lol Price: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: n/a -- takeout

Cameron G.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the unassuming appearance or location: this is probably the best Sichuan restaurant in the city. Their Chongqing diced chicken 辣子鸡 beats that of its Squirrel Hill competitors by a considerable margin (and IMO might very well be the best chicken dish of any cuisine in Pittsburgh, with a truly three-dimensional combination of flavors and textures). And their other dishes are excellent too--I brought my food-critical Chinese mother here, and even she was pleased with the five or six dishes we ordered. I can't speak to the American menu, but if you want flavorful, authentic Sichuanese food, Szechuan Spice is a true gem.

Lu C.

Yelp
By far one of the best Szechuan restaurants I have encountered! Yes they have an Americanized menu too, but expand your horizons and enjoy their very traditional and expansive menu!!! We ordered several items, all of which were wonderful. Not a single dish left the table with food on it! Even better the gentleman serving us was super friendly, attentive and had great conversations with us throughout our meal. A truly enjoyable evening while in town for the game so, so worth the 15 minute drive to Shadyside! P.S. sorry no pics, food was to good to even think of stopping long enough to take pictures!

Florence C.

Yelp
The air conditioning was blowing on a day that it was in the low 40s outside. When told it was too cold was told that was the heat. Moo shu chicken was tasteless. Reservation had been made for 14 people. When staff was told there were not enough seats he argued with us before adding another table. Would never go back.

Yelp
** Authentic Chinese food with sushi deals on Wednesdays. Very spacious and not very crowded so it's a good place to hangout with larger groups and have conversations. I discovered this place from my girlfriend, who saw several ads and also frequently shops at Geagle and Aldi nearby. Needless to say we've been here several times and it's been solid every time. They have half off sushi on Wednesday, which I think tastes decently fresh (the unagi) Typically we ordered the broiled fish as well as the pea shoots. Both are tasty and authentic - however the broiled fish sometimes has a bit too much mala numbing spice, making our lips very tingly and sometimes just a bit overwhelming, so we ask for less spice. The veggies are also a bit on the oilier side. It's never been crowded and the place is very spacious, which I like since I never feel packed or disturbed by a lot of noise. Definitely give this place a shot if you are in the area!

Yelp
Great food and service, it will not disappoint. The portions are big to share with everyone at the table.

Yelp
Singapore Noodles is the way to go. Fried and steamef dumplings are prob the best I've ever had

Yelp
Got delivery from this place recently on Grubhub and cannot complain. Order came before the expected delivery time. The szechuan dumplings were soaked in a nice chili oil. The portion of Dan Dan noodles was huge for the price. The noodles were soft and pretty flavorful. The shrimp egg roll was fine. The szechuan chicken was delicious as well, but was hoping for just a bit more spice. The chicken was tender. Overall, very reasonable prices and satisfies that szechuan craving. Will definitely be back and ordering again. Would like to try more of their dim sum menu.

Yelp
Has been my go-to Szechuan restaurant in Pittsburgh for at least 3 years. Food: 5/5, at least as good as Sichuan Gourmet or Chengdu Service: 5/5, always been professional, no issues Atmosphere: 5/5, spacious, bright, plenty of seating Price: 5/5, same or slightly cheaper than the others

Yelp
Walk by here almost daily for the last few years and glad to see they're open again. Don't know anything about prior or current ownership. But I do know the food is delicious and the portions are huuuuuuge!!! Prices on par with other restaurants of its caliber. Comfortable decor with a sushi bar. Love the ambience. Have enough leftovers for two days and I'm not complaining!

Yelp
I came here in-person a couple of weeks ago and loved the chongqing diced chicken so much that I ordered it in as comfort food today. I was curious to see whether or not the appeal of the crispy, greasy, deliciously spicy chicken would be lost after a 20 minute car ride, and I'm happy to say that it held up extremely well. The chicken is VERY spicy (at least to someone such as myself who has a very moderate ability to handle spice) but it's so genuinely flavorful and delicious that even when my mouth is on fire I can't stop eating. If you enjoy spicy food then this chicken is a MUST have - this place has become my favorite Chinese food restaurant in Pittsburgh. Other dishes that I love are the black pepper chicken (not spicy but very flavorful and covered in a deliciously sweet and tangy sauce), the sautéed shredded potato is cooling and delicious after a bite of spicy food, the fried dumplings were pretty good, and in my opinion the star of the in-house meal was the whole cooked fish. The sauce was delicious and almost resembled a very light curry, the fish was tender, and for a large group it lasted a good amount of time. I was in with a group of 8 people and we were sat at a round table with a lazy Susan to spin all of the meals around so we could all try something different. In my opinion this was the best way to try everything - I highly recommend it! If you enjoy authentic Chinese food and a laid-back atmosphere then you will LOVE Szechuan Spice.

Yelp
Szechuan spice is the pinnacle of Chinese food in Oakland. After feeling unsatisfied with various locations in the area I spread my wings and tried something further into north Oakland; I was kissed on the forehead by a bagged, perforated container housing sesame chicken. I theorize Szechuan spice does this to keep the chicken from over cooking while producing its steam after being freshly fried. As overcooked chicken breast tends to get tough, stringy, and tight, Szechuan Spice fixes the problem through this solution. Not only does this problem result in quality food, but it's design allows the food to endure a difficult journey. Delivery. Wrapped in a plastic bag to ensure zero spillage, and perforated for the chickens temperature preference the meal is delivered and packs as much of a punch if you were to eat it in the restaurant. I got the white rice with my meal. It's a longer grain rice that was cooked nicely today. In the past I've gotten some clumpy boys but that tends to happen with that kind of rice so no biggie. The staff is super helpful and friendly, the food is delicious and having a reliable internal delivery service makes Szechuan Spice the place to order for Chinese delivery.

Yelp
Delicious food! Been to this place several times and almost everything I have tried has been good except for their sushi. Their sushi is not the best but their Chinese dishes are pretty good.

Yelp
One of my Chinese go-tos. For me as a student, it is easily accessible by 71C/71A/82 and near Aldi, Giant Eagle, and Whole Foods farther down the street too. LUNCH SPECIAL ($7-$8): I have had the Shredded beef with hot pepper here, and thought it was kind of salty then I proceeded to pass out for 3 hours possibly from MSG?? Diced chicken Chengdu style is very good and has good spice, but the chicken pieces are a bit small. SUSHI LUNCH SPECIAL ($9-$12): 2 rolls for $9 with your choice of house salad or miso soup. Or a sashimi special! We always like to at least get the unagi maki :). BROILED FISH (~$19): Every Szechuan place I go to, I have to try this. Me and the boyfriend have tried their spicy broiled fish here several times, and they have made it with different veggies sometimes. I think it's best when served in the flat glass dish. PEA SHOOTS (~$10): Sometimes too oily, but always given a lot for your dollar. A lot of people seem to get delivery or take out, but I would try giving them a visit for dine-in! It is very spacious in here and they recently got some cozy black booths instead of regular tables. I highly recommend Szechuan Spice if you're trying to find a Chinese restaurant for a big party too!

Yelp
4/5 for food, if I were including delivery it would be 3/5. Ordered delivery and when the guy got here, he called, I told him to come around to the side of the house because that's where my entrance is. He just said "I'm here" hung up and delivered the food to my neighbors instead. Luckily I have honest neighbors. Got the 2 sushi roll lunch special. Shrimp tempura roll was 5/5. Insanely good. The cucumber and tobiko gave it a nice extra crunch and the avocado and crab were good additions. Sweet potato roll 2/5: I love sweet potato tempura rolls. But the tempura was completely soggy, the sweet potato was hard/not cooked or ripe, and the rice was dried out. Mapo tofu 3.5/5: This is kind of my fault because I didn't realize it came with soft tofu, but I thought the tofu made it really difficult to eat and was too slimy. The sauce was yummy but I would not order this again. Honestly it only got 4/5 because the shrimp tempura roll was so good and it was a really good amount of food for the price. I would definitely try the sushi lunch special again but get another roll instead of sweet potato.

Yelp
Okay came here in person and updated my review from 3 to 5 stars. Sushi (3 spicy maki rolls for $15!) was DELICIOUS. The food was also bomb and it came out in minutes. Finally might've found my go to sushi place in Pittsburgh! Portions are also huge I'll update this after I try more authentic dishes in case the review improves, but we ordered from here because the apartment we moved into is a few blocks away and we needed to find a go-to take out place. We ordered general tsos chicken (I'm dating a basic human) and a few pork eggrolls. General tsos was typical, nothing special, especially for the price. As soon as I tried the eggroll I gagged. My boyfriend tried one and had the same reac. I needed to investigate... it wasn't the wonton skin on the outside... it wasn't the cabbage.. it wasn't the celery... it was the pork! The pork tasted heinous, maybe it went bad? Either way we tossed them immediately (cries in the inside).

Yelp
Located near market district in North Oakland, Szechuan spice will always leave a savory aftertaste anytime you go there! I have been a regular for the last 6 months since I have stumbled on the restaurant, and always order the General Tsaos white meat!

Yelp
I just had one of my most satisfying take out meals from here. Giant mushrooms with basil, Shrimp with sizzling rice crust, and Chinese Eggplant in garlic sauce. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, with the little square rice crusts in a separate envelope. Everything had a tasty sauce and there was a good variety of vegetables. Our experience with this restaurant has always been great. The traditional menu may cater to non-Chinese tastes, although the variety of offal suggests that they are keeping it at 100.

Yelp
Very friendly, helpful staff. And good food on top of that! It's in a Normas place, so if you're Covid worried, there's a lot of room. Definitely would recommend!

Yelp
Food was very good, but the service was very poor, we came in with a big party of 14, I called them a week and a half in advance to give them heads up, they suggested to get their before 5:00 PM because they might have a big crowd, since it was Christmas, I spoke with a worker named Greg, who was very friendly and helpful., and so I told him that we would probably get there at 2:00 PM he said perfect, because it probably would not be crowded, we got there at 1:49 PM and it not busy at all, as soon as we sat down Our waiter was very irritated with us for some reason, and had a very bad attitude, we still treated him nice and respectful, but as some of us had questions about the menu. And He rolled his eyes up in his head and said he didn't have time to answer questions for us, again, there was not that many people in the restaurant, when we asked him for water or tea he got irritated, he walked away from us several times when we were ready to order just because we weren't sure exactly what we wanted. And had some questions. Also someone in our party did not get there food until after everyone else was served, they forgot to bring her fried rice, we tried to get his attention and could not he was ignoring us so we spoke to a waitress who got he his attention. He brought her food out late and never apologized. we did not complain to anyone about of his attitude of being so nasty, all in all we spent over $400 just to be treated this bad, so if you decide to go to this restaurant I suggest getting a take out only because the waiters attitude was so bad It changed the mood, especially for it being such a wonderful Christmas day.

Yelp
Food was good. Very large portion for all dishes. It was a very quiet place. We ordered spicy dumpling, spicy and sweet; fried long hot pepper, stir fried bacon chengdu style which was very good; and another fish dish.

Yelp
They only took 12 mins to deliver to me and was extremely efficient with the process. Food is fantastic as well. I ordered fish fillet in soup and was worried it might spill, but the restaurant packed it so well. 10/10 in food and service.

Yelp
I finally was able to stop by and try Szechuan Spice, and after multiple years of living directly over it in the past, this was a long time coming. If I can give you only one tip with this restaurant, it is this -- Go. On. Wednesday. There is a half price sushi menu and it is excellent. After a meal of 2 specialty sushi rolls, one spicy tuna roll, two pieces of salmon sushi, a pork egg roll, and dessert, the bill was $28. Not too shabby. I ordered the spicy girl roll which was absolutely perfect. It was spicy, but just a bit, and that was cooled off by the avocado. I really enjoyed how the whole roll was wrapped with imitation crab on the outside; it had a surprising texture and added a sweet note. (yes, most sushi uses imitation crab, don't gasp, deep down you knew that and it is delicious so don't judge). The salmon sushi was of very good quality; the two rolls ordered by my companion (the rainbow roll and spicy tuna) were also yummy. Very fresh overall! But the most interesting and one of the most surprising parts of the meal was the red bean ice cream. I've never had red bean ice cream before, and it was actually quite good. For some reason it reminded me of stracciatella due to the texture and flavor. The service was friendly and quick for fresh sushi. I'll have to stop by another time to try all if the different items offered on the menu, but it'll be hard to tear me away from the Wednesday special.

Yelp
We came to enjoy a mix of Chinese food and half-off sushi specials! Everything was good. Nothing was amazing but it was all very solid and I'll be back. Note that sushi is not half off the entire menu, but there's a select Wednesday menu (shown in photos). Overall, a great addition to Shadyside!
