Where to Eat and Drink in the Lyn/Lake Neighborhood | Eater Twin Cities

"The gigantic menu at Szechuan Spice can be daunting. Start with the classic dishes from China’s spice-loving province like ma po tofu and pair with a cup of hot tea to balance that heat." - Eater Staff

This is not your ordinary oriental food. I normally don’t eat Chinese food because it’s normally just soggy and reheated like buffets and sitting down at a place as normally the same exact thing. I was deeply surprised when I took my dad here for his birthday. Everything was super fresh And really good that I actually went two days in a row. Completely surprised how good the food was. My general TSO chicken was crunchy, which is unheard of and amazing.

Sorna Chocks

Google
The portions of the food were generous and tasted very nice. The lunch menu comes with a choice of white rice or fried rice, accompanied by either hot and sour soup or egg drop soup. The prices are reasonable, making it a great value overall.

Google
Their online ordering system is super easy to use. They do tell you if the dish includes an order of rice already - that way you are not double ordering rice. The price per quality is very affordable for the portion that you are getting. The food here is very comforting, especially on a raining day. I highly recommend the sweet and sour chicken and the salt and pepper shrimp!

Google
I tried this place for the first time last weekend. It was delicious! We had dumplings, general Taos chicken, chicken fried rice, some veggies, and the three pepper chicken. It was all very good. A little pricey but great alternative then driving to Bellaire.

We decided to try this place out. The atmosphere was average. The service was ok, there was only one server, which made it slow. The food wasn't very good. We ordered Wonton Soup, Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, and Pork Fried Rice. The Wonton Soup was cloudy and tasted like mushrooms - my mom said like dirt. The Orange Chicken were large chunks and the sauce was a thick viscous consistency, not very appetizing. The Sweet and Sour Pork sauce wasn't as bad, but still slimey. The Pork Fried Rice was bland. Maybe we ordered the wrong menu items. It was overall disappointing.

Google
Never once disappoints. We get takeout or eat in all the time. The staff is very efficient and the food is one of the best Chinese food in the Houston/Pearland area. I would highly recommend the three flavor pepper chicken. Edit 4/1/2025: We had an unpleasant dining experience today. The person who waited on us was very rude and didn't say a word the entire time. He shoved the check at us without asking if we wanted anything else. As if that wasn't enough, he interrupted us to ask for the card while we were still working on our meal. Since we were annoyed, we decided not to tip. Another staff member came and asked us why we didn't tip and also "threatened" us saying we won't be allowed to dine in if we didn't tip. We have been coming to this location and tipping heftily for years!!! We love the food and the people. I don't want this incident to shape the image of the restaurant. But I am changing my rating because this needs to be addressed.

Google
Szechuan Spice, located near Pearland Town Center, is a clean and family-friendly Chinese restaurant. The flavors were outstanding, the service was excellent, and the portion sizes were generous. It offers great value for money. Be sure to try the Three Flavor Pepper Chicken and the Crispy Milk dessert—they’re a must!

Yelp
I didn't expect to find decent Chinese food outside of Chinatown, especially in pearland, but Szechuan Spice delivered. Boasting a huge menu, it would probably take me several visits to try even half their options. For this visit I went with the beef flat noodles, the orange beef, and the salt and pepper calamari. The salt and pepper calamari was my favorite order. The dish came out with large pieces of crispy and balanced calamari rings sitting on a bed of vegetables. The dish wasn't too salty and can definitely be eaten without rice. The crunch and flavor of the calamari was amazing and the vegetables complimented the squid perfectly. The orange beef also impressed me. The breading on the beef has a very subtle crunch and the sauce is flavorful and sweet. This is a dish best eaten with rice. The flat noodles were a good dish to have as a side to balance out the flavors of the others but was relatively lacking in flavor on its own. I've had better flat noodles with a smokier taste, which is my personal preference. The service was quick, and the place wasn't busy at all on a Saturday night. The restaurant had a calm and relaxing atmosphere and pretty quiet. 7/10 for now, but I definitely need to try more items here since I'm sure I haven't tried the best of what Szechuan Spice has to offer.

Yelp
I've had this twice now to go. They're open quite late and is busy everytime I swing in. I love eggplant garlic sauce and orange beef. I do enjoy their 3 pepper fried chicken but normally the amount of chicken is not a whole lot compared to orange chicken. The eggplant dish is plentiful and flavorful. The food comes in a nice reusable to go bag which has come in handy for me already.

Yelp
Might need to make this a monthly routine with visiting Jason and Lyndsey after shopping. Had not ate and Lyndsey recommended Szechuan Spice, this is her go to. Place is nice conveniently located in strip center. I was open to trying their usual go to meal. Consisting of: Three Favor Pepper Chicken and Beef stir friend udon. The Three Favor Pepper Chicken is their specialty, when I walked in, I saw a couple of tables with it. The presentation is nice, it comes in a cornucopia. The popcorn styled fried chicken is spiced with garlic, dried chili and peppercorn. All blend well that we almost finished it all in one sitting. Was able to have some as leftovers for lunch the next day. My only gripe was that it had a ton of dried chili's. (Reason for the one less star) The beef stir fried udon was just as flavorful and enjoyed every bit along with the company! I can taste why it's their usual go to meal. Aside from the excessive dried chili's (I like spice, but at some point, the chili's just become overbearing) I wouldn't change a thing. I had packed my food to go and forgot to take it with me. Thankfully they answered quickly and told them I forgot my food but was on my way back to pick it up. When I returned, it was waiting at the entry.

Yelp
So normally I would go to Chinatown to get my spicy kick in but wanted to try something around Pearland. This gem is WORTH it. First, the spice level is PERFECT. Although some could argue to make it spicier, I like mine where I know I can feel it and still enjoy the tingling sensation and quality of food at the same time. Second, the portions are HUGE. We ordered: -three favor chicken -boiled slice fish -Singapore rice noodles -mapo tofu I love the presentation and creativity that was put into it. The crispy layers of the chicken coated with the seasoning were delicious and the tangy sauce with the boiled fish was phenomenal. Could never go wrong with the mapo tofu and the sauce was thick! (Usually it's watered down elsewhere so I appreciated the fact that it was flavorful this time). We came on a Sunday morning and it was slightly busy. But the servers were very helpful and made rounds as needed. The place itself is huge and cozy. 12/10 recommendations around Pearland. Also - better to come dine in than ordering online due to portion difference

Yelp
Everything was exceptional on this Sunday midday visit to Szechuan Spice restaurant ! This was my first visit and it did not disappoint. From the onset of arriving we were seated immediately and the environment was comfortable and attention was immediate. My friend and I ordered the chili oil wontons and couples tendon for apps, which is always a MUST order for me when visiting any authentic Szechuan spot, and though I've had better wontons, the couples tendon was a 10 outta 10, along with the Singapore noodles ( we ordered the combination and got an extra spice level added) - sooo good, and ordered the crispy spicy fish.. Very crispy , flavorful, and not too spicy as to overwhelm the fish! Excellent!! If you're ever in Pearland , a time well spent!!

Yelp
I have been sleeping on this restaurant. So happy Uber Eats was running a promotion and I decided to try this spot. Very good food. BEEF LO MEIN I wish we had option to make spicy or add comments in Uber Eats. I had to call to request for it to be made spicy and they were accommodating. Just inconvenient to have to take that extra step to call the restaurant. They are pretty quick preparing the food once order is placed. VERY TASTY! I would definitely order this again. Definitely made top three lo mein in Houston. SHRIMP FRIED RICE A bit overcooked both the rice and the shrimp was really overcooked but huge. You get about five pieces. The spice was the same as the beef lo mein. They use jalapeño slices. Doesn't really work as well with rice as it does with the the noodle dish. I am glad I ordered this to try and it is edible but wouldn't order again if that makes sense. EGG DROP SOUP Haven't tried but it has the color and consistency I like which is a great sign. PORK AND SHRIMP SHUMAI Where was the shrimp? It was one big huge meatball. Unless both the pork and shrimp were ground. I did not like this even with the dipping soy sauce accompaniment. I have had way better. Wouldn't order again. Overall I would be back and stick to what I enjoyed.

Yelp
Pearland has upgraded with this Sichuan restaurant. No longer do I need to go all the way to Houston for decent Chinese food. I have been coming every now and then since they opened a few years ago, and I think they have found their stride and delivering consistently tasty food now. They specialize in Sichuan spicy dishes (obviously), and I must say that the dishes from that cuisine are done very well here. Here are my recommendations: water boiled fish, pork in garlic sauce, eggplant in garlic sauce, and three pepper chicken. I would say these dishes are on par with the best Chinese restaurants that I have been to. One note, the three pepper chicken has a bit too much batter to chicken ratio. Other dishes I enjoyed are the mapo tofu and walnut shrimp. I was unfortunately disappointed with the sizzling black pepper beef. It just was not very flavorful. The service is quick and attentive. The decor is in line with most other modern Chinese restaurants. Looking forward to the next visit!

Yelp
Yes baby!! I love this place. The food is delicious. My favorite to eat here would be the fried chicken with 3 different types of peppers, the Mongolian beef and the orange chicken. It is best eaten at the restaurant when you can still enjoy the crispiness. But I have ordered it for home and it's still delicious even if some of the crisp is gone. The service is wonderful here. They are very attentive. Overall, I love it, parking is great, food is delicious and I will return. Since being introduced, I've eaten here 4 more times.

Yelp
I did family style with my friend and split the beef lo mein, chicken fried rice, and soup baos. All of the food was super tasty and nothing was left behind. The portions were a good size too and I felt full after finishing our food. My only critique was the lo mein and fried rice were really greasy even though I'm used to eating this style of food. Overall, the service was great. Our server was super kind and took time to answer all our questions regarding the menu and gave good recommendations. The restaurant itself has a lot of space to sit and parts of the venue are dimly lit and would make a perfect place for a casual dinner date with a partner or small group of friends. I also saw a lot of people doing to-go so this may be a good place to order from when you don't want to cook for a meal!

Cathey G.

Yelp
The rice was clumped up and the fried fish was not done - fried on the outside and mushy on the inside . Pot stickers were still white.

Yelp
Love the food here! We got the spicy chicken(10/10 recommend) the twice cooked pork (20/10) recommend, the peaking duck, the chili wantons, the stir fried string beans (10/10 recommend). The food is absolutely amazing! Staff was very attentive and brought us everything we asked for in a timely manner (there were 5 of us and we ordered family style and shared across the table) but still was so much food but it was so incredibly worth it. The service was great, the ambiance is nice, quiet and clean. My young kiddos even liked the food! You have to get the spicy chicken and the twice cooked pork, just trust me

Yelp
We ended up at Szechuan Spice for our Christmas dinner. Not our typical routine but do to some random events, here we sat. Surprisingly, the place was almost full and to-go orders flowed all night. Seemed to be a pretty good sign that the food was good. We started with some egg rolls and ordered Szechuan pepper beef, Mongolian beef and Orange chicken. We also had the steamed rice, fried rice and vegetable lo mein. The egg rolls were tiny and basic 4/10. All the entrees were solid 8/10 each. Not the best I've had but would order all of them again. The beef meals were both nice and spicy like we like it. Rice is rice but was cooked well and so was the lo mein. I'd say this is a solid 4 star spot. They have beer and wine options too. Service was real friendly and as good as you could ask for, especially considering how busy they were. I'm sure we will be back. My wife liked it a lot.

Yelp
They are friendly people, and the food are delicious. If you haven't try this place, hurry up come try it. Also the price is very affordable.

Yelp
i placed a to go order and was a bit disappointed. i am working lock down and i wanted all my sauces on the side so the dishes doesn't get soggy for the next two freeze days. i should have checked my order before leaving. i also requested chopsticks but i got forks instead. a bit disappointed considering this place is a bit more expensive than most. food is good when made correctly. lesson learned...check your order before leaving .

Yelp
This place really blew us away! The food was delicious - we got the hot and sour soup, biang biang noodles, the beef chow fun, the beef pan fried bao, and the Peking duck. My favorites were the chow fun and the biang biang noodles. The hot and sour soup was also very good, and the skin on the Peking duck was AMAZING - so crunchy. The beef pan fried bao unfortunately were not the most flavorful and were a bit greasy. So, we won't be ordering that again. But, everything else was seriously delicious and we will definitely be returning again soon!

Yelp
I felt like this place was very unprofessional. We ordered the red oil wontons and on their menu, It did not say that it contained peanuts. When it came out, we asked for a new one due to one of our family members being allergic to peanuts. The server said he could wash it off and we were like " no he is allergic. He cannot eat it at all. It will still have the peanut residue and it was all in the sauce.". And then he tried to blame us and said we should've paid attention to the menu but on the menu the red oil wontons did not include any captions below it. After, he didn't say anything & walked away with the dish, came back with a new one with no peanuts. This time, we could tell they rushed it because the inside was frozen! We paid and left after that.

Yelp
Can't believe this place has been so close to me & I only discovered it about 2 years ago. The food is great every time & everyone is attentive. Nice dinner spot in Pearland

Yelp
Consistently good. We order Togo from here at least twice a month. A little expensive for Chinese food, but everything is nowadays Spicy fish fillet in soft tofu 10/10 Three flavor pepper chicken 10/10 Curry noodles 10/10

Yelp
**This is a 3.5-star review.** Excellent atmosphere. Wonderful service. And the food is good. I've always liked a Chinese joint that serves Tsing Tao. Sure, it's the Budweiser of China, but still... The hot & sour soup here has good tang, a little spice and plenty of crisp tender veggies and velvety egg and tofu strands. Outstanding. Calamari is batter-fried. Nicely crisp and mostly tender. The Szechuan eggplant is also delicious. -- The soup bao, however, is a lame attempt. Do they taste OK? Sure. But the broth was non-existent. (Look at my photo, and you'll see these poor soup dumplings trying feverishly to stand upright.) I've enjoyed soup dumplings in multiple Chinatowns, and a few others locally that really get there for the Yen. These don't. But this joint still earns high praise for its ability to put other -- traditional -- Americanized Chinese food on the table. If I lived closer, I'd be a regular. Still, I plan to make this place a part of my occasional weekend plan.

Yelp
At my favorite Szechuan restaurant, Szechuan Spice. We ordered Salt and Pepper Shrimp, Bok Choy in garlic sauce, Spicy Edamame and always start with Hot & Sour soup for two. I'm in heaven. The shrimp are jumbo in a light tempura crust and so delicious. I love Bok Choy in garlic sauce, I could eat this every day. Love the crunch never over cooked. The edamame is cover in chilli sauce, oh so good. We really enjoy their Hot and Sour soup. The service is always excellent. They are all so nice and friendly. Always ready to make your lunch or dinner experience with them special.

Yelp
I ordered Pad Thai chicken. It was good but spicy but able to tolerate it. I did have to repeat myself several times to the man behind the counter. I did ask him about another dish and he said black sauce but didn't go into detail. I also went to the restroom and it was clean enough but the outside of the trash does need major cleaning. I went around 4 pm and only 4 customers were there. Unknown if I will return to this restaurant.

Yelp
First timers. Peking Duck was awesome! Great dumplings! Dan Dan Noodles were tasty too! Will be back! Staff was helpful and very attentive.

The service is good and Food looks great when it's served with a good taste. Was a nice size of serving.

Yelp
I had passed across this restaurant many times. It has a darkish feel from outside because of the glass, and that always discouraged me, but once you enter you will see that its not so dark. It was one of those days when you hop from one food place to another and wonder why are they ALL closed on Tuesdays and why can't they just mention it online ... Finally took the courage to enter Szechuan Spice. Its neat and tidy. Not so crowded and we had someone help us to our table almost immediately. They carry decent vegetarian options but you Must clearly specify if you want NO oyster suce, fish oil or any kind if fish sauce. You'd think Its easier to ask for vegan options, but a lot of them speak Mandarin, they do their best to help you, but I was doubtful every time I placed an order if they knew what exactly I was trying to say - apparently they did, because the dishes that arrived matched what we asked for , including an egg on the side and not mixed in the food. We got the Lomein, it was very tasty. Simple ingredients but very tasty. The mixed vegetables with Lotus root was customized for us, and it was very good. If you want tofu in any dish, they gave a $2, $3 and $5 option, we took the $2 and it was quite decent. My phone died and I could not take many pics, though I managed to click the dish that impressed me the most- the Lotus mixed vegetables curry with tofu. This dish comes with white rice Good food, very fast service. I'd recommend it.

Yelp
I really like the food at this restaurant. I've eaten here and gotten takeout several times. Szechuan Spice is in my top two Szechuan style restaurants in the Houston area. Looking for a Szechuan restaurant close to home, I stumbled on Szechuan Spice. I'm so happy I did. The parking lot here seems to fill up quickly but there are usually a few spaces available. The ambiance inside is mostly quiet and very casual. The staff is polite and helpful whether I'm dining in or taking out. The first dish I ever tried here was the Cumin Lamb after being introduced to it by a friend. This is a fantastic, flavorful dish and while very spicy, it doesn't overwhelm or take away from the savory flavors of the lamb or vegetables . The cumin flavor is excellent and blends perfectly with the other spices. Another spicy dish I recommend there is the Three Flavor Pepper Chicken. I wasn't prepared for the flavor packed into this chicken! The crispy breading hiding the succulent, juicy chicken mixed with chili's and peppercorns was amazing! The portion size is incredible as well. Not wanting to stop the spice journey, I've also indulged in several fish dishes. Boiled fish in Hot Sauce, Hot and Spicy Fish, Fish Jump Out of Water, Spicy Fish Fillet with Soft Tofu, Crispy Fish in Thai Chili. Holy Mackerel Batman!!! When it comes to fish, Szechuan Spice doesn't miss! No jokes or riddles here. Cat Woman would love all the fishies here. I really cannot decide what my favorite dish is. Cumin Lamb and Hot and Spicy Fish might be my top two but narrowly so. You cannot go wrong with anything I've recommended so far. Egg rolls, Cheese Crab Puffs and Hot and Sour Soup are all good as well. You may not expect to find some of the best Szechuan food in the Houston area in Pearland but you would be pleasantly surprised to find out you could be missing out. Don't miss out! If you have no reason to come to Pearland, you have one now. Check this place out asap!

Yelp
I had stopped here once before and it was good. We decided to try it again on our way home. The Peking duck was great. Spring rolls were lightly fried and delicious. Fried pork steak was spectacular. We want to go back and try a few things to see if they're as wonderfully fried. I'm always on the hunt for great General Tso chicken. I think with the fry method Szechuan Spice uses it will be great! This place was incredibly clean and the staff was always right behind the last table to clean.

Yelp
Good chinese restaurant...it seems the ingredients are aways fresh. The servers are always in good spirits. I love their Walnut Shrimp ... , Steer fried eggplant and green beans as well as their Singapore Noodles. When I think of Chinese food - always comes to mind to come here and also good ambience...

Yelp
Food is always excellent and great service , I do notice when we visit there are a lot of Togo orders they must be doing something right . Great restaurant and the owner is always accommodating

Neil N.

Yelp
I just cant give this place a good review. This is my 3rd try, and the food gets worse each time. The shrimp was dry and tasteless, the beef bao was dry and nothing more than a small hamburger. The only thing decent was the rice.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
This restaurant has pretty good food and will accommodate vegans if requested. I got the kung pao tofu made vegan and it was 8.5/10. Definitely check it out if you're in Pearland.

Yelp
We've dined in and gotten takeouts from here numerous times because their food is delicious. We will most definitely continue to enjoy their food.

Yelp
The smell at entering makes you not want to wait to be seated (right away on the 4th of july) it smells amazing! The menu has TONS of options and most employees are chinese (not racist but leads credence to the food). Ordered edamame and steamed dumpling appetizers. Dumplings were not to our liking and came out after entree...however I think thats how they should taste but way late coming Out (part of 4 star). Edamame was great. I ordered salt and pepper shrimp with some of the freshest largest shrimp I have been served outside of my home. Husband ordered general Tso shrimp extra hot. Both were great. EVERY dish that passed my table Looked exactly Like the menu. Both steamed and fried rice were a bit dry (second reason for a 4) this place is clean professional and tastes good enough for me to go back today if I can and try another dish.
google avatar

Gloria P.

Yelp
My husband and I are "frequent customers " and their food " Do Not Disappoint ". The food is SEASONED and Good !
google avatar

Anna T.

Yelp
Service was welcoming, ambiance was very chill and has a cool vibe has nice lighting. We ordered the wonton soup, sesame chicken with white rice and beef fried bao. The wonton soup smelt like a public restroom wontons were good but the cabbage must've been sour, the bao buns were good probably should've ate with soy sauce because it was a bit bland. Sesame chicken was bomb and crunchy and tasted like real chicken breasts with no fatty pieces. By the end i brought up how the soup smelt weird and he got me a new one to go and it smelt normal

Yelp
My 900th review goes to a local spot In Pearland that my family and I had for Father's Day. We waited last minute to make lunch plans, so our options were limited as far as reservations go. Szechuan Spice came in clutch with reserving a table for our large party. We came in and were seated right away. The staff was very friendly and we got great service throughout our lunch. The place was busy, but they were taking orders and getting them out in a very timey manner. All of our dishes came out at the same time which is a plus in my book. Everyone in my party found a dish that stood out to them and then we went family style with it. Take a plate and pass it around till you have a little bit of everything. We got a variety of dishes with very different flavor profiles and proteins. I believe the only thing we missed was a lamb dish. Cumin beef was my absolute favorite out of everything. I love cumin and cilantro and both flavors were very pronounced in this dish. The portions in all the dishes were huge with no skimping on the meat. I also loved all the fresh veggies in all the dishes that were cooked perfectly. It added a nice contrast of textures with the meat. The Crispy Fish in Thai Chili Sauce was a close second. The plate was filled with crispy fillets of fish that were so light, yet filling. The sauce was also light but had nice heat as well. They provided steamed rice for the table but we also tried Singapore Noodles as another starch. These were very good. It was filled with a combination of meats and the curry flavor was on point. I won't name all the rest of the dishes as the pics are attached, but trust me when I say they were good too. Only a third of our party had this type of cuisine, but this place opened their eyes to something they have been missing. My parents couldn't stop talking about it and they're not even huge fans of most Asian food. I will definitely be back sooner rather than later!

Yelp
The food was good. We ordered the chefs special lamb. It was good not because it was seasoned a certain way, basically they just dry rubbed it with salt and pepper and then after it was grilled, they added some red chili flakes. It tasted fine but no better than any thing that I would make at my house. Also we got some dim sum. it was OK and we got the three seafood sizzling dish, it was good, it was buttery sauce, but that was probably the best thing we had. The service however, was not the best we came in at 8 o'clock and they close at nine so service got progressively worse. We got there and they didn't give us chopsticks sat down. They gave us. They only gave us one of the rice. Is there supposed to give us all of the food came out at different times and there was no way to eat it all together. Even the sizzling dish served with no rice so we ate half of it by the time. They finally brought the bowl of rice out we were mostly done. Probably won't go again, but the food was OK.

Yelp
My first visit and will definitely be back again. I had the chili chicken and it was spiced just to the right amount of heat. The service was excellent and fast and friendly. Looking forward to trying their hot and sour soup next time.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was good, food was mediocre. It's not as authentic as the other Szechuans I've had. The flavor was just not up to par. I like bamboo spice better.
google avatar

D'Shea N.

Yelp
The general tso tofu is amazing!!!! The new owners are very kind. They gave us free samples of soup

Marylee O.

Yelp
Tofu Fish Spicy Soup!!!!! It is my absolute favorite! It is up in price a bit like everything is, but huge plastic tub (half gallon?) and will easily feed 2. I get it for ME (mild spice is plenty spicy) and I eat it for 2 days. Comes with white rice.
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
Only dine in as this establishment will literally half the portions on take out orders! The prices are not as reasonable as Chinatown so if you don't want to make the drive as I didn't, know that dining in is the only option worth any somewhat value as you'll be sorely disappointed with your portions with takeout.
google avatar

Socorro L.

Yelp
I can be very picky about my egg drop soup, but this one was definitely good. Cannot wait to order more things to try !

Yelp
Got take out for the first time, and it was delicious. Ordered an appetizer, chicken dish, and a tofu dish, and they were all really great. Wish the red oil wonton would have been spicier but still delicious. Will have to actually eat here next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Good food. Fresh ingredients. Very friendly staff. Love the black pepper steak. To go orders always fast and hot.

Yelp
We came here for a late dinner and it wasn't crowded. Diners were spaced well apart. The interior was decorated nicely with pops of red throughout. I read through the Yelp reviews and perused their menu prior to our visit. I ordered a lot. Lol. Unfortunately, I underestimated the portion sizes of the dishes that came out. However, I had plenty of leftovers to bring home. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered: General Tso's Chicken: This is not something I'd normally order because I don't care for sweet and savory dishes. But, this dish was actually pretty good. I enjoyed how they balanced the sweetness with sourness. The chicken was juicy and the broccoli retained its crispness. Boiled fish filet with hot chili sauce: They named this dish differently here. But, I likened this dish to the hot diving fish that I usually order at Mala Sichuan Bistro or Cooking Girl. This was delicious. But, there was quite a bit of Napa cabbage and bean sprouts in it. I wished there was actually more of the tilapia fish filet pieces instead. Twice cooked pork: My favorite dish of the three. I enjoyed the ample amounts of pork belly slices and leeks in this dish. Great savory flavor and wok hey. Slightly spicy and numbing. It was a tad bit salty for me. But, that's what the white rice is for. Lol. I would definitely order this dish again. Overall, we'd come back here for an early or late dinner. If you're ordering for only two people, I would recommend ordering a maximum of 2 dishes to avoid having so many leftovers. I mean, unless you want leftovers.

Yelp
I am surprised to find a good Szechuan restaurant in Pearland! The mapo tofu was flavorful and the soup bao had a lot of broth in it. I wish the sweet and sour pork was crispier though, but it was still solid!

Yelp
This place has potential but it's like they don't want to be great, good is good enough. I have done at least one of the review on this place in hopes that it would change. This time I ordered the sesame chicken and the house special fried rice. I'll start with the positives, the house special fried rice came with two large jumbo shrimp lots of egg and it was really good. So kudos for the house special fried rice. The sesame chicken not so much. Taste like the chicken had been sitting in the sesame sauce for hours. The breading was soggy, and the food was not hot. It's not hard to order Chinese food made to order. Fried chicken and tossing in sesame sauce takes no time so not sure why they don't serve their food fresher. Lastly, I got food to go and they never give soy sauce or chopsticks. I'm trying hard to figure out and understand why why should I have to ask for chopsticks? Why should I have to ask for soy sauce. Those things should come with the meal every time. Lastly I ordered veggie egg rolls and they were, two out of five and that's being generous. The egg rolls are soggy not cooked well and taste like they came out of the frozen fruit section. They could do a lot better on with their egg rolls. It's really the small things that matter and if this restaurant wants to move from good to great, they will take consideration this review and others to step their food up a notch or two.they sit in a great location and have lots of people coming from all different areas so why not maximize on the potential that you have give better quality food and raise the bar.

Yelp
Hello!!! All once again and hopefully your day has started in an awesome way. Over the weekend, I figured I would try a new location and see, if it may be a new goto for me. I tried an assortment of dishes that were prepared to suit my vegan eating palette. Listed below and pics to follow fo First up is the sautéed mix vegetables this dish was my favorite of the 3 that I had. So, if I were to drop by again this would be in my order list. This is what through me off though, it seemed more like in the preparation it was steamed or boil and not very much sautéed. Just a note! Second up was the fried rice and it was not bad, , it just appeared to be very lite in flavor. Third up is something totally new and a shredded spicy potatoes. Again that seemed to be steamed or boiled and maybe sautéed afterwards, not exactly sure. I have to be honest and say none of the dishes gave me the desire for a second round. However, I did try this. I paired a portion of all the dishes together and did somewhat like it a little better. To top it off, I thought I new my dishes really well have travel and tried them in different places (even what was considered to be authentic), until I recommended that someone try the garlic sauce that would basically be chicken, veggies and garlic sauce. (Noted that this dish normally in my experience doesn't have a spice) this one did, and the sauce was, not clear, but red, however the flavors, just did not pull off the taste bud shimmy. So, I felt pretty bad about that one as well. Last, but not least there was a Stir fried cabbage that was additionally ordered it have a very bold flavor, that was new different and I would definitely try again. (No Pic) Well that's if for this review, so until next time, Bye-Bye!

Yelp
Prices are good but not my favorite Sichuan food. Still, it seems like Szechuan Spice has reached quite a diverse audience, which I can appreciate. Staff are kind and accommodating. 水煮鱼 - Just ok, not very spicy. Too much cornstarch for my liking so the fish are more slippery / soft 3 Pepper Chicken - Flavor was ok. Chicken itself was not seasoned well, but stir fried with dry peppers and jalapeños the spice is definitely supplied. There was more opportunity to season the batter. 夫妻肺片 - This was promising, good flavor. Bed of lettuce soaks up the flavor well. Great with the white rice provided.
