A visit to the Taberna do Ganhao is always a delight, not only for the eyes but also for the palate. The menu rarely changes, but it is rich and imaginative – so it never gets boring. The culinary craftsmanship is of the highest level, with appetizers that could pass as main courses, and the extensive wine list is just one part of the harmonious concept. We enjoyed the spicy shrimp as a starter, with a balanced level of heat – make sure to get some bread to soak up the sauce. The chopped tuna with orange also paired perfectly, but bring your appetite so you can still enjoy a proper main course! The beef steak was of the highest quality, the crispy fat edge enhanced the cowboy style, and the side dishes were also given the right attention. The tuna steak was a dream, one of the best we’ve had in Portugal. All four main courses at our table arrived perfectly on time, carefully plated, and absolutely delicious. You can’t make reservations, so arrive early, or enjoy some drinks outside while waiting for a table.

**Taberna do Ganhão** impresses with its beautiful view of the bay, especially enchanting at dusk when the atmosphere is simply delightful. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed evening with an excellent drink in hand. The friendly service further enhances the pleasant atmosphere, making you feel warmly welcomed. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the scenery and service. The dishes were rather mediocre and left no lasting impression. Although the portions are generous, the meals lacked finesse and flavor. Overall, it’s a lovely place for a drink and the view, but one should not set their expectations too high when it comes to the food.

Fantastic little restaurant near the beach. We loved the atmosphere, it was really no fuss and all about getting the best out of the ingredients. I had some of the best tuna steak I've ever had and the portion size was very generous. Can't recommend this place enough. The staff was very friendly as well and prices are very fair for what you get.

We thought it would be impossible to find a restaurant in Baleal that wasn't a tourist trap and we opted for Taberna do Ganhão after seeing the pictures, but without much hope. Turns out it was delicious, and the price was really fair regarding the quality and the quantity. We took the steak and the octopus: both were delicious, and the octopus was the best we had in Portugal. We highly recommend it!

“Oh My Cod” was yum. Their chickpea puree was very flavourful . “It’s Nor Meat Nor Fish” Vegetarian was tasty. Coconut Puree was not too coconut(y), which was great! “The Bird Is the Word” Chicken Breast was real good! Very generous portion. Good atmosphere and good service!

My last lane may suggest biases, but there's no relation. I only went here for the irony. Little did I know the food would be some of the best I've had in Portugal. Possibly the best octopus you'll ever have. The Champaign shrimp sauce is perfectly balanced (get some bread with it). My only quarrel was the dishes the dressers came in. Awkwardly shaped making you work for those last bits.

5 star service, as always. Even without a reservation, it's worth waiting, drinking a cocktail while the tables are prepared. The team is used to serve well and quickly despite the large influx of customers. I always come back! Thnx Samuel

what can i write...? the 5-star ratings from other guests say it all. i would not have expected such a nice, informal and unpretentious restaurant in such an exposed location. not only the location and the view are worth a visit, the food is also great - compliments to the kitchen!
