The 12 Best Tapas Spots In Madrid

"La Tienta’s recent renovation (it dates back to 1952) left this classic bar in tourist-free Fuente del Berro slightly chicer but still full of historic charm. Industrial lighting is mixed with vintage Spanish tile, and black-and-white flamenco and bullfighting photos—it's a block from Plaza de Toros. While several hidden dining rooms and the large downstairs area in this winding space are ideal for groups or sit-down dinners, the best La Tienta experience is squashing yourself at a high table by the bar between rowdy locals who might have had one too many, and making small talk over mini-calamari sandwiches and vinegared sardines." - lori zaino

They describe themselves as a "Tabern," I would add and a very good Spaniard restaurant focus on high-quality meats.

What a fantastic experience. Delicious food and a celebratory vibe after the bull fights. Food was delicious and the place was packed. Worth the price.

Food was good, starters very good, main course 50%bones and too much salt but ok. For small food ok but if you’re hungry maybe not the right place. The service guy was not very motivated, maybe had a bad day. Eating while serving me, no idea of the wifi password and not willing to explain about dishes or any other questions.

We ran into this nice restaurant right before watching bullfighting. Relying on translation app. We were able to order drinks and tapas. The waiter was very friendly even though he didn’t speak English. A group of people were eating and drinking and they seemed to be having a very nice time. Good food and good vibes. 20230625

The service, atmosphere, and food are amazing. The waiters were well prepared to give good tips about the dishes. We had Torreznos de la tienta and Rabo de toro. Also, they served as "tapas" delicious tomatoes.

09/21/2024 A place for bullfighters and those who enjoy the festivities, located just a few streets away from Madrid’s Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, this corner bar makes you feel the excitement with its decor and lively atmosphere. Food: The appetizer served with the drink wasn’t the best, but what stands out is that serving a house wine that’s gone sour is unacceptable. Bullfighting culture is more connected to wine than beer, so it’s essential to offer a decent wine for the price they charge for glasses. Service: The staff is attentive and friendly, with nothing to criticize in this respect. Ambience: Perfect for a night out with friends and some laughs. The decor is in tune with the bullfighting vibe of the area. Conclusion: Definitely a place to visit, but make sure to order a beer instead of wine.

This was truly my favorite restaurant in Madrid with the best ambience and food. The oxtail stew and iberico ham were superb. It's the ambience that I loved the most. We were offered a quiet corner away from the bar since we had kids. Every larger table has its own space decorated with simple elegance and a bull fight theme since it's within walking distance to the arena.

I’ve been here a couple times before for drinks but finally tried the food and it did not disappoint! It’s a great place for tapas. We were 3 people and the 3 tapas we ordered were enough for us for lunch. We got their patatas bravas, which for me is one of the best ones I’ve tried in Madrid. We also got the grilled scallops and a solomillo.
