Taberna Noroeste

"We were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant such as this in Poble Sec, a quiet district at the foot of the Montjuic hill, and just a stone’s throw from the legendary Paral·lel avenue. This taberna has just a few tables in the dining room, hence the opportunity to watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen behind the bar. The single menu evolves with the seasons (the fish and seafood are outstanding) with meticulous attention paid to creamy textures and the pairing of ingredients. The name of the restaurant (Northwest in English) is in reference to the origins of owner-chefs Javier and David, as one hails from La Coruña, the other from Salamanca, hence the fusion between Galician, Castilian and Catalan cooking. Guests here are all served at the same time!" - Michelin Inspector

Super cool kitchen with a handful of tables that creates astonishing tasting menus every night! A tiny find specializing in Galician cuisine with a healthy dose of creativity throughout. Seafood is the overall focus and the multi course offering is thoughtfully paced and overwhelmingly delicious. One single seating and 8-10 courses for around €70. Amazing value. Small and inexpensive wine list. Service very friendly and knowledgeable . Reserve in advance. It’s tiny and deservedly popular.

This was a great food experience. We left happy, full and inspired. I can't recall or comment on all the food, but it was around seafood. Everything was thoughtful, inspiring and executed perfectly. The open kitchen made it very nice to see the chefs in action- a great symphony. For the wine pairing, I don't know how good the pairing was, but the wines we drank were really great. The only thing I would have loved is to be able to see a menu to better recall the food and wine. It wasn't cheap but absolutely worth it. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I do not think words can do a justice for Taberna Noroeste. Truly the best dining experience I’ve ever had. It’s fine dining without the buttoned up culture that you might think of. You put a lot of trust in these chefs and waiters as with a tasting menu you really don’t know what you’re getting until the waiter tells you after they put it on your table. And you should just eat it and try it. I can guarantee you it will be fresh and flavorful. Be open, and trust their process. In my opinion this place is a cannot miss in Barcelona. It is 110% worth it. I will be going back every time I’m in the area. Note: if you do have an allergy (like I do) or intolerance email them ahead of time and let them take care of it. They were super accommodating :).

This is quite an experience. You turn up and are presented courses. The food is amazing and very creative without being over the top. The open presentation of the kitchen adds to the atmosphere, and the service is second to none. This is Mitchelln two standard service and food with very down to earth prices. I could not recommend this place more. It is also worth noting that, as a group, vegan/shellfish options were catered for effortlessly. Well done.

Amazing meal and great value considering the quality. The tasting menu is well paced and excellently executed. We were the only English speakers in our sitting but the waiter explained everything to us in perfect English. We had 4 different wines by the glass that were recommended, all were delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again on a return to Barcelona.

Don’t miss this restaurant! It’s an amazing set course menu! Cannot say anything bad about this spot - the food was some the most delicious I’ve ever had. They had a substitution for my husband when I told them he has an oyster intolerance when making the reservation. The server was so great explaining each dish in both Spanish and English so I could practice my Spanish. You can tell they all care about their craft!!

Taberna Noroeste in Barcelona provided an extraordinary culinary journey with its 8-course experience. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing a perfect balance of flavors and creativity. The chef's skillful execution elevated the dining experience to new heights. The ambiance however was average due to the big amount of empty tables, but the attentive staff enhanced the overall enjoyment. From innovative appetizers to decadent desserts, Taberna Noroeste delivered a gastronomic adventure that exceeded expectations, making it a top choice for those seeking a high-end dining experience in Barcelona.

I wish I could give 5 (or more) ⭐️ and I would if I hadn’t found myself in the awkward situation of having to deal with a tasting menu without a warning (not clear on the website). Unfortunately, I don’t eat 80% of the menu and that was a tad challenging given that the Noroeste team has no back up plan for this. Besides that, the place is a great balance of slick and welcoming and the food (what I could eat) is amazing
