Taberna Úbeda

"This small restaurant, just a stone’s throw from the famous Templo de Debod, offers guests a superb introduction to the products and gastronomy of the Úbeda region and, more broadly, the province of Jaén. The owner-chef, who pays careful attention to guests’ needs and makes a personal appearance whenever he can, demonstrates genuine passion for traditional cuisine, creating delicious slow-cooked stews that will appeal to every palate. Our recommendations include the bluefin tuna, the baby broad beans with eggs and truffle, and the delicious grilled globe artichoke – although everything is excellent here!" - Michelin Inspector

I found this place on the Michelin Guide and I’m so happy I made a reservation! The space is pretty small—only a few tables with reservation tent cards placed on each one when you enter. The space is cozy and a bit intimate—It felt as if I was visiting a family member’s home for dinner. The day I dined, there were only two employees preparing the food, serving and hosting. Not much English is spoken here, but they’re incredibly friendly! I allowed one of the hosts to choose some of their favorite dishes for us. All of the plates are shareable—I do not recommend ordering a single dish per person as the portions are large. Three dishes would be the perfect amount for two people—honestly, even three! They are quite popular—reservations are strongly recommended!

Perfect local spot for lunch. Everything on the menu is tasty and delicious. Like eating in a home family kitchen. Starter of pork probably the best I’ve ever had. Cheesecake was outrageously good. Definitely make a reservation. Only 6 tables.

Very cozy and tasty Tasty food, affordable prices, cozy place with stylish decor - everything is a part of a bib gourmet experience. Nice and smiley staff - there are only two of them, that’s why you can feel care. There are just 6 tables (two of them are for big groups), but we got a table without any reservation for lunch.

Delicious food. Some of the best Spanish tapas food I have ever had. They also have a great selection of wines. You should definitely visit just make sure to make a reservation in advance.

Best restaurant that I have tried in Madrid, the place is small so you need to reserve a table with days in advance. The food is super good especially the artichokes. the waiter and the owner are very kind and make you feel at home, the cook is very good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I came here for lunch with my family. The waiter and chef were very welcoming. Had a variety of dishes here but would highly recommend Callos if you are not adverse to trying tripe. The octopus was also excellent. Would happily come back again. A nice place to dine if you also want to see the Egyptian temple close by.

Food was incredible! The Russian salad is so memorable and unique in its richness. The sangria is the best I’ve had on my entire trip in Barcelona/Madrid/Seville. Our server was also very attentive and made every effort to communicate with us despite us not knowing Spanish and her not knowing English. Even the royals ate here!

Pros: a lot of space, good wine. Cons: only one waiter knows English. Lamp chops were too fat. Entrecote was fine, but also with much fat on its edges.
