Just go. Make the reservation. For transparency, I know the owner well and am related to one of the partners. However, I have been there multiple times and it does not disappoint on any of the main four categories. Quality food Excellent service Very clean Perfect atmosphere for small events upstairs, important business discussions in one of the back rooms or just a pleasant night out with family or friends in the main dining area. That being said, prices are very high and in today’s world for this quality, it makes sense. Prepare for $200pp. I was here when they first opened and now seeing it a few years later, the development and improvement is amazing. This is a top 5 NY kosher restaurant today and it will be a top 5 Kosher restaurant in the kosher world in the near future. They just keep getting better. No question.

The food was definitely great, but if you tell them what you are celebrating, they Make your celebration just a little bit more special with their own touch. We celebrated our anniversary and they brought out two small complementary glasses of wine by dessert, along with a handwritten, happy anniversary card and a gift card tucked inside. The candle 🕯️ In the middle of the table, also had rose petals around it.

Google
The most amazing upscale kosher dinner in NYC and possibly anywhere! The wagyu tomahawk steak is incredibly juicy and flavorful, and it’s such a fun show watching them carve table side. Don’t skip the sushi as well. Quality is fantastic and the Tabernacle roll and spicy tuna crispy rice is a must. Tbh you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, and the service is just as incredible!

Most of the food tasted more like a nicer version of a fast food place. The steak was not done right and the desert tasted burnt. This place is also way overpriced

We had such an amazing dinner. Our waitress Ana was simply the best. She took time to explain the menu and take our order. We had the carpaccio and a salad. Then for our main course I had a ribeye that was cooked to perfection (just a tad past rare which is how I like it) while my wife had the gnocchi and my son had the salmon. Everything tasted great and for dessert we had the strawberry pavlova, apple tart, and molten lava cake. What made our meal exceptional was the service. The entire staff worked so hard and were constantly refilling our water, bringing meals and removing the dishes we had finished and constantly. He king on us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. They also were so polite and friendly. They noticed we were visited and asked where we were from and made some suggestions as to where to go and various things to do. They just really took the time to speak with us and made us feel so welcomed. To me service is the difference between a good meal and a great one. They definitely made it a great one. To Ana and the entire staff, thank you for making our meal so enjoyable and making us feel so welcomed. Can’t wait to visit again. Until then thank you and be well. Jeff R.

Google
Dining at The Tabernacle offers an unforgettable experience, with standout dishes like the savory Kalbi Fried Rice and perfectly cooked Duck Entree, both bursting with flavor. The service is exceptional, with attentive staff who are knowledgeable and genuinely eager to enhance your dining experience. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance of intimate and lively, making it ideal for any occasion. Whether you're here for the food or the atmosphere, Tabernacle is a must-visit spot in the city.

Yelp
Stellar service at its best. The staff knows how to welcome guests. When you enter, you immediately see an intimate bar that unfolds into a lovely dining area. . The decor tailors around a wine barrels theme. Even the booths are shaped like barrels. I ordered the kalbi fried rice. It was presented to the table. The bone marrow was torched and then dislodged from the bone. Afterwards it was mixed in the rice. Lol. Now that you have my attention.... Reservations recommended. Accessible entrance. Street parking.

Yelp
Trendy artistic interior with a relaxing yet vibrant blend of silver, wood and black. Service had us feeling relaxed while wanting for nothing; friendly but not intrusive. This is a culinary destination for the duck alone, which serves at least two and is comprised of the confit shepherd's pie and perfectly prepared (medium rare) duck breast. A symphony of smoky and only slightly gamey flavors. The confit was moist and rich yet well balanced by the potatoes and peas and carrots. Bobolini was a great finish, light but delicious. Tabernacle isn't cheap but I found it quite the value for the superior ingredients, amazing flavors and textures and lovely service. Oh, and it's kosher.

Yelp
Besides being a kosher steakhouse they are very Polite and great customer service, which we appreciated.I found Tabernacle steakhouse on line to take my boyfriend out for his birthday. I made the reservation and it was amazing. I am a vegetarian and they made me a beautiful vegan meal just vegetables which was very satisfying. His steak looked beautiful and he said it was delicious. I was very impressed with them . For desert they came out with a beautiful parve cake to top off the night. We were very happy and we will definitely be back .

Yelp
Lively atmosphere but not a great steak and limited wine selection. Service was terrific but steaks were mid level quality at best. Very expensive for what is offered.

Yelp
I liked that this was close to my hotel. It opened at 5pm and was curious because it looked nice. It's a nice place, nice ambiance, and even the bartender was nice (I think his name was Luke). It was just a bit pricey for a burger and a glass of red wine. I think the burger was around $65, for just the burger and fries. I can justify paying that for a good quality steak, but not a burger. It was a good burger, but wasn't THAT good. It was fine to check the place out, but I probably wouldn't return unless someone else was paying.

Yelp
They made even major menu changes seem easy and normal. Tabernacle Steakhouse handles all components with expertise - they cook excellent food, design beautiful spaces, create the right mood, and provide great service. The food quality is consistently superior. Welcoming staff. In general, it's impressive and fantastic !!!

Yelp
Very nice experience at Tabernacle. I visited for a work dinner on a week day after work. We had to wait some time to be seated (not sure why since it was only busy upstairs due to an event). The decor was really nice-sophisticated and rustic. They even have barrels with seating inside. So cool! This was my first kosher restaurant and I really liked everything I tried. We ordered drinks first and all loved them. I believe I had a frose drink. Delish! For the foods we just ordered a bunch of appetizers including the Tuna Tartare, Crispy Rice, Nori Tacos, Korean Fried Chicken, Short Rib Flatbread, Beef Cheek Empanadas, Mashed Potatoes, Shishito Peppers, and 2 types of sushi that may have been the Rainbow Dragon and Rainbow Naruto. Not 109% sure but I loved the Rainbow Dragon and I'm not big on seafood. As far as the other dishes the stars were the korean fried chicken, short rib flatbread, and empanadas! I would not say the prices should be that high but the service was exceptional and the experience was good!

Yelp
I came here for a dinner with some work colleagues. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. The booths were shaped like wine barrels giving the atmosphere of a winery. The dining room was dimly lit and felt upscale. The wait staff was very attentive. Our waiter went through the menu offerings with us in great detail. He explained the different cuts of meat. We ended up trying their special cut. I had mine with a side of fries and shishito peppers. Others I. My party tried the carpaccio and the sushi. I thought my steak was nicely cooked and buttery and tender. The fries were good, but average. The menu said it came with a special aioli but it was just regular ketchup and mayo. The prices are ok the high side since this place would be considered fine dining (I think one cut was $160). Our food came out quickly but the service didn't feel rushed. Overall, I think this is a nice place to go for a business meal with kosher colleagues or even if you have kosher friends in town.

Yelp
Went for a company dinner and got to try so many amazing dishes. Highly recommend the sushi platter -- the tabernacle roll was so good. We also really loved the crispy rice. Korean fried chicken and shishito peppers were very well made but not the highlight of the meal. Both the tabernacle 48 oz and 22 oz cowboy au poivre were amazing, and we highly recommend the bone marrow crust. Service was great (we got complimentary Prosecco) and the ambience was great although a bit loud.

Yelp
The Good: the food was fantastic. No complaints with the meal. The ok: Pricing - very expensive, but for a very good meal, sure its fun to splurge here and there. The BAD - we spent $650 on a group of 4, and they had the Chutzpah to charge us on for a side of sauce! Just not ok. spending that kind of money, and still be charged for a sauce?! And then also on fountain soda refills?! That should not be done. Not going back simply for that principle

Yelp
I don't have any idea where to get the information from but I will let the guys know that I have it on my phone and I will get it to you. Thanks and have fun tonight bye.

Yelp
Snooty service and quite unremarkable food. Way over priced for the quality and service.

Yelp
This restaurant is really and truly awful. It used to be fantastic, but the previous owner must have sold it and the new chef and staff have no clue whatsoever how to run a restaurant. Of all the expensive kosher restaurants in Manhattan (and this one is very expensive) it is clearly the worst. They used to have Chateaubriand which was fabulous, no longer on the menu. All their steaks are sky high in price and very fatty. All their meat is fatty! the lamb chops and duck are more than 50% fat. The salad (ceasar) has no taste--just lettuce with a little olive oil. Not really ceasar salad as advertised. The veal chop was non-existent. The chef needs to go to cooking school. Stay away!

Jacob K.

Yelp
I had private room. The service was poor with waitresses did not know what to do. they overcharged me as full adult price of $225 for kids between age of 2-5, which was suppose to include as it was negotiated by contract. They are liars and take advantage. I would not go there , this is not upscale and honorable place. I would definitely not recommend.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday dinner for my boyfriend and we can't stop thinking about how excellent the meal and service was. We were seated inside one of the cool barrel tables and were served by Carlos. I sneaked in that it was his birthday to the waiter and he really treated us lovely. We started off with a market salad which was beautifully dressed with a tarragon dressing and fresh blood orange slices. Then we were recommended the veal gnocchi which was so so so good. Crispy gnocchi with a luscious and rich veal jus. Tasted just like a Shabbat dinner. So so so good. Now the real winner is the ribeye that we got pepper crusted. Do not skip the pepper crust on your steak here. A flavor explosion worth every bite. We got a side of the potatoes which we didn't expect to be a mash but paired beautifully with the Demi glaze that came with the steak. The steak was so perfectly prepared and cooked and drizzled with olive oil that made it so buttery and decadent. I am already thinking of the next time we will come back just for that bite. Carlos was kind enough to give us a taste of their reserve red to pair with our steak. Then we ordered a Milan lava came to end and you could not even tell it was parve. They gave us chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla which was a bit of a at first but the ice cream is so so so good and rich and I wouldn't eat them together but separately each chocolate piece was so wonderful. Carlos also treated us to a glass of Prosecco for dessert. All in all I absolutely loved this restaurant and it was probably my favorite kosher restaurant I've ever had. My boyfriend also said it was the best steak he'd ever tasted. We will be back for sure and take everyone we know!! Thank you for a lovely dinner and evening :)

Yelp
Too Expensive for the quality received overall was a decent choice but many better steakhouses in this city.

Yelp
Tabernacle is currently the best kosher restaurant in NYC in my opinion. A restaurant can only be as good as its leaders and the manager Ashley is incredible. She and her staff have an incredible attention to detail that did not go unnoticed. This leadership was reflected in the service, food and ambiance. The vibe there is upscale, the high ceilings and lighting really set the mood. Menus, they have a regular menu and if you are gluten free they have a separate menu. It cuts down on any questions and keeps the guests who are gluten free feeling less like outsiders. We ordered Caesar salad, steak tartare and the tomahawk steak. The Cesar salad had perfect crunchy fresh lettuce. The tomahawk steak really is as amazing as it sounds. The presentation of if being carved table side was beautiful. It was perfectly medium rare. The deserts were ordered were great and the shining stars were the peach semifreddo and the sorbets. 10/10 and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Perfect place for kosher food! Perfect service and dedicated staff. I was asked several times of the food was good and if there was anything I needed. Ordered the chicken which was a little dry. There was no sauce on it- served with a squash, and fancy carrots. My friend had the lavender lemonade and loved it. The fries were small for $16 and salted. That's not good for most and really they should have replaced them. The desert was a chocolate mouse with peanut and jelly inside. Nothing great. Atmosphere nice: there are small booths and rooms for private parties. Upstairs is more dining for large groups and events.

Yelp
Insane kosher food! Everything was best quality and flavorful service was on point. Ambiance was intimate and dark and incredible decor.

Barry L.

Yelp
I had a wonderful dinner with friends at Tabernacle. The place looks very cool and has a laidback, pleasant vibe -- both of which are unusual for a kosher restaurant in Manhattan. The food and drinks were delicious and inventive. But I have to say that if they're going to charge the prices they charge (which are really high) they need to up their game. The servers were friendly and well-meaning but sometimes clueless, the food and drinks came out in a strange order, and most of the food wasn't served hot. I'm willing to pay top dollar for a top quality experience, but honestly this wasn't it. It felt like they're still practicing how to be a high-end restaurant -- and at this price point they need to be beyond just practicing.

Yelp
This is most definitely the best Kosher steakhouse in New York. city. We were here to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. Ambience was great. Food was phenomenal. Service was very quick very easy going staff would definitely recommend this place to anybody looking for great food and have a great time
google avatar

Jack L.

Yelp
Call place with kosher food and the service was very good and professional. But in my opinion the prices are way too high for what you get. We were sitting in a cool booth and we're expecting a great evening. It was all right but I really can't say that I will be back to this place. If you are into kosher food it's worth a visit but very prepared to spend a lot of dollars.

Yelp
A really nice new exciting atmosphere. Busy and adding a level, the service was outstanding. Even the Caesar Salad at the table was a nice touch. Great wine selection (gotta love everything Herzog). Shared the "For Two" and the presentation at the table was impressive. Nice ending with Sorbet. Expensive but that's fine dining in the city.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Wanted it to be better. We went out for boys night last night and nothing was really amazing. Caesar salad was so so salty and we like salt... short rib was unedible forgot the birthday of our friend. Extremely overpriced for mediocre food. People were complaining nonstop around us about the same thing. Doesn't compare to other kosher steakhouses in nyc. Wall st grille still Number 1 in my opinion. Very nice place nice staff but food and drinks were ok at best. Wish it was better. Very very expensive and a waste of my money last night.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for a business dinner last night. The food was great, drinks especially awesome! Even dessert was delicious, I wish I had taken more pictures but nonetheless the less super please with food, drinks, service and ambiance at this place. Great kosher steakhouse, definitely recommend!

Yelp
Amazing dinner! the food here was the best I have ever had. The service was off the chart and the ambiance was amazing. The appetizers main course and deserts were all delicious. Oh and the old fashion was amazing.

Jacob S.

Yelp
The food was the best. I have never had anything like this in my life and it's truly amazing. The steak melts in your mouth and it filled my stomach with joy. And the desserts where do I even start everything was masterfully crafted and made with love. You can tell that the chefs really care about every dish that they make and take pride in it too. Also the staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Also the vibe was really cool we are in these barrels which had a nice atmosphere and further played into the overall experience of this steakhouse.

Yelp
I was here with two business associates this past Thursday, 7/19. We were attended by Lance who was fantastic. Very knowledgeable. He told us about the menu and we settled on the house best ribeye and the Surprise steak. Consensus was the Surprise steak was the best, but my own ribeye was amongst the best I have had. Lance recommended a bottle of red wine that I believe he said was associated with the owner. While not a wine expert, this was incredible. Lance finished us off with the Fondu and the Donuts accompanied by an anise-flavored liqueur he said was similar to Sambuca. OMG! Best I have had in a while. We're not local but all agreed we're coming back next opportunity. Thank you again, Lance.

Yelp
I ate here in the summer I am still thinking of going back it was one of the most enjoyable restaurant experiences I have ever had highly recommend service and food presentation was excellent and the dessert was beyond amazing
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
I understand that it's a holiday season, many restaurants are busy and we decided to show up here at the last minute. But I found it hard to believe that with many empty seats at the bar (which they did say they do not take reservation for) and the bar space having more than enough space for food, they couldn't acommodate us to have a meal there. Frankly I have never heard of any restaurants who won't let customers have any food at all at the bar, not even appetizer or reduced "bar menu" That's not the way to treat potential future customers. They definitely lost us. We are not returning.
google avatar

Rochelle K.

Yelp
This rating should have more than 2$$ signs. Dinner for 2, no drinks, no dessert was $250. The atmosphere is nice. There were too many wait staff hovering around and twice tried to clear dishes before everyone was finished, a pet peeve of mine. I had soup (not hot), and tuna tartar, which was good. I know kosher restaurants are expensive, but this was not worth the price.

Adam Stanley S.

Yelp
The food is always excellent and service is impeccable. Servers are polite and efficient; I was just at a dinner upstairs featuring a US Senator with about 75 people in attendance and it was wonderful. I knew there would be a lot left over and I have five dogs so I brought a canvas shopping bag with a bunch of Ziplok bags and the staff was kind enough to package about twenty pounds of steak scrap.... the dogs will be thrilled and I am pleased that all that food did not go to waste. Overall a truly blissful evening.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and the food was out of this world. It's a little pricy but worth it. Highly recommend this steakhouse. A+++

Yelp
I planned a special event here and I was blown away by how amazing and helpful the staff and manager were....highly recommend!!!

Laura C.

Yelp
My daughter and I decided to stop here for lunch after passing by on the way to our hotel. Decor was nice but that's about all it had going for it. When we were seated I expected us to have a really nice and fancy restaurant experience we could remember from our trip. She ordered a chicken sandwich which she said was so bad she had only a few bites. It was thigh meat pounded out and I agreed with her assessment. I ordered a French dip sandwich that was okay, but definitely didn't match its price tag. Lastly, they presented me with a bill that already had a 20% tip added in with an additional line for another tip. (I guess hoping I wouldn't notice and taking advantage of tourists). It was about a $20 meal quality wise that emptied my wallet for more than a $100. Very disappointing.

Josh A.

Yelp
My parents went here for their anniversery, so I'm writing this on their behalf! According to them, the food was good, the ambiance was fancy and classy. Service is on par, just a bit overpriced.

Yelp
The food, service, and restaurant is amazing. Every thing was amazing and portions are nice. Even the drinks were perfect. Looking forward to going back.

Sofia K.

Yelp
The atmosphere was great, and the staff was very friendly. Perfect place to go for a unique, memorable experience. The food was very well made as well.

Jeffrey F.

Yelp
I thought the staff was arrogant and they rushed us out of the restaurant while we were still eating! We ordered an expensive bottle of wine and the place is overpriced and not in a great location. The manager had the audacity to tell us they needed the table after sending the waiter and bus boys over to take our plates while we were still eating. I will. not go back or recommend to any colleagues.

Sylvia K.

Yelp
This was our first visit to Tabernacle. The staff was attentive, professional and very knowledgeable about the menu. The wine menu was extensive & the dinner menu was unique. Our waiter George was very helpful sand as everyone else attentive. There were however some drawbacks. While the decor was elegant the acoustics were poor. We were three people & we couldn't hear eac other. When I ordered a glass of wine I usually get a glass with 6oz. They insisted 5oz was the proper serving but came with the bottle to make it 6. We ordered the Hot Pot. It was interesting. It was a pot of beef soup cooked at the table. The Mashguiach came to the table to turn on the fire at the table They placed the pot of broth on the fire, added noodles, meat, and mushrooms to broth and cooked everything table side. It was tasty. For mains since the Hot Pot was so filling we ordered the surprise steak, the top cap of the ribeye with mushrooms & squash for sides. The steak was perfectly cooked. For dessert we ordered the chocolate fondue with fruits to dip. It was very unique. The restaurant was packed, the service was excellent, but since we had difficulty parking, difficulty speaking to each other, it just doesn't seem to be the right place for us.

Gail A.

Yelp
From the moment we were welcomed in to the moment we left, it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was stunning and the food and service were excellent. I will be back next time I am in New York.

Trish W.

Yelp
Beautiful setting and presentation, attentive service. My husband and I have had the prix fixe lunch twice, with excellent food both times. I must avoid several common foods, and both the waiter and the chef were accommodating and conscientious. I very much appreciated being able to enjoy an elegant and delicious meal without becoming sick after.

Jose C.

Yelp
excellent ambiance , food is great, Rabbi Gross is fantastic!

Devorah W.

Yelp
Food was amazing however the area is extremely dangerous and scary. We came out after paying 450 for dinner and there were 6 large males by our luxury car with one SITTING on the hood. My husband walked to the car to tell them to get off while holding kids. I was saying tehilim while putting my kids in the car. One of them started saying something and the other said wait there's kids. So if there wasn't kids what would happen to us? Definitely extremely unsafe for children and women to walk by themselves. Keep in mind the security guard saw our car and watched this all happen but said nothing to us. What's the point of the security guard? Such a shame since the food was great. The price for dinner doesn't justify the area. I guess when I was told the food is to die for I should have taken it literally.
