Tabla Lessons

Nabin is an amazing tabla player and a wonderful teacher, I highly recommend studying with him to anyone wanting to learn to play tabla, or improve any aspect of their playing. I began private lessons with him as a beginner, and he has always met me exactly where I am. He clearly explains basic concepts and demonstrates fundamental aspects of technique for me to focus on, while keeping the teaching atmosphere relaxed and encouraging. From the start he included simple compositions for me to practice, as well as exercises to develop my technique, emphasizing practice and performance in a way that feels both rigorous and enjoyable. In less than a year my playing has improved remarkably! His depth of knowledge, technical skill, and virtuoso musicianship make him an outstanding teacher for all levels, from total beginner to advanced performer. I am making steady progress studying with him, and I highly recommend Nabin to anyone wanting to improve their skills and ability on tabla.

I’ve been a percussionist for decades and have been very fortunate to find such a great tabla instructor in the Denver area. Nabin is not just a great performer he is also an exceptional teacher. Even though my background is in rock and Latin music he has been able to help me understand the concepts of Hindustani music and rhythm and we are working towards developing a performance composed of all the major elements of a traditional tabla solo. It’s the most interesting style of music I have come across. I would imagine Nabin can teach to all skill levels and backgrounds as he has been able to tailor a program of study specifically to my abilities and even to my schedule. My kids (ages 11 and 8) have been training with Nabinji for the last couple of years. He is an excellent guru. He has immense patience and can cater to both their learning needs. They have made significant progress in tabla under his guidance. He makes tabla lessons very engaging and enjoyable. His classes are a combination of excellent training, up-to-date website with lessons and curriculum. Nabinji is an excellent tabla player and guru and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn and enhance their tabla skills.

Nabinji is a great Tabla player himself and a great teacher. He is a gifted teacher who is able to work with students at various levels of exposure to Tabla and is able to explain the concepts in a clear easy to learn style. I have been his student for a while now and am grateful to have a teacher like him who makes learning Tabla fun. Nabin is an Excellent Teacher. My son Pranav is taking Tabla lessons from him past 2 years and he really enjoys it. Nabin is very skilled, both as a musician and as a teacher, and I notice progress for every lesson. Nabin is not only good with music but also a very warm person with a great sense of humor and he really has a way with kids, which makes the lessons even more enjoyable. Nabin Shrestha is an exceptional teacher of the tabla. He is a great choice for learning this profound art- form for all ages and all walks of life. On a personal level I have found him to be very focused in his teaching style but also very patient and very process oriented - which is the kind of teacher I need seeing how I just do this for “fun.” For those who want to learn this art as more of a career path my feeling is that Nabin would also be exceptional because of both his diligence and enthusiasm to classical Indian music.
