Fantastic breakfast spot with homemade food, cozy atmosphere with great staff like Nick, dating back 50 years. It’s an unpretentious restaurant sticking to core breakfast items, sandwiches and some items like VA ham unique to the Commonwealth. I’ve been coming here for 20 years, and there are many regulars. I love the pancakes, bacon, coffee, and home fries! Also, great chicken wings, biscuits and gravy, and my family loves their omelettes or poached egg Benedict’s. Don’t expect anything too fancy here, but expect a great breakfast

Google
I had a wonderful breakfast at Table Talk with two work colleagues while we were in Alexandria. It's a lovely little restaurant with a great, welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the classic American breakfast of eggs, hash and bacon with a coffee, and it was absolutely delicious. The service was fantastic from start to finish - the staff were friendly and incredibly attentive. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again. A great spot for a bite to eat.

Google

This restaurant is a must visit. The food is amazing. We had the Seafood Plater and Gyro meal. Everything was made fresh. The service is excellent. The atmosphere I so beautiful with real plants lining the interior. We highly recommend!

Google
The food was amazing! The waitress and the staff were all very nice. The food came out fairly quickly and was fresh . I spent about 50 including the tip for 2 people. I will definitely be coming back.

Google
Definitely a place we would go back to. Food was good as well as service. We went for breakfast only. Prices were reasonable and portions satisfactory. Ended up going there for breakfast everday on our visit vs eating the hotal breakfast. Highly recommend.

Google
I ordered a steak at Table Talk restaurant, but it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. The taste was terrible — I couldn’t even finish it and only took a few bites. I still paid the full bill with tip, but I will never come back to this place again.

Nardos G.

Google
I had the most amazing breakfast experience here! The chicken and waffles were absolutely perfect—crispy, juicy, and paired with the fluffiest waffles ever. Every bite was heavenly! The service was just as impressive—warm, friendly, and quick. I felt so welcomed and cared for throughout my visit. This place is officially my new favorite breakfast spot! Highly recommend if you’re craving something delicious and comforting.

Yelp
The food portions were giant, and everything tasted great. The server was nice and respectful and the mood inside was very nice and lively.

Yelp
Table Talk isn't just a neighborhood staple -- it's a full-on comfort food sanctuary. This place knows exactly what it's doing: feeding your soul one decadent bite at a time. For breakfast, I walk in and let the cravings take the wheel. The Eggs Benedict with crabcakes? Absolute perfection. Think golden, runny yolks cascading over a buttery English muffin, hugged by sweet, savory crabcakes that taste like they were just pulled from the Chesapeake, and drizzled with a rich hollandaise. (Or sometimes I opt for Canadian bacon). Or go full tilt with the fried chicken and waffles -- crispy, juicy chicken wings next to crispy, fluffy waffles, syrup dripping like a slow-motion food commercial. Add a mimosa (or three) and you've officially started your day like royalty. Lunch keeps it classic. I usually go for a made-to-order sandwich -- thick slices of roast turkey, juicy grilled chicken, or maybe some melty tuna melt action -- paired with a heap of hot, golden fries. The kind that make you forget any woes and just think about eating. The vibe? Bustling in the best way. It's the clatter of plates, the chatter of locals, and the clink of coffee mugs that say, "You're in good hands." The service is always solid -- no pretense, just warm, welcoming, and on point. Table Talk isn't flashy -- it doesn't need to be. It's that ride-or-die diner that always delivers, whether you're celebrating, recovering, or just craving something real. Come hungry. Leave happy. Repeat often.

Yelp
First time visiting Table Talk even though I have driven past it several times. Table Talk seems like a local spot with faithful returning patrons. The restaurant has a small parking lot. When you enter you have plenty of seating but it is seat yourself. There was not a breakfast combo that includes sides but you can order a combo that includes eggs, potatoes and a meat. I ordered a half stack of pancakes which I thought would be mini instead they were as big as the plate itself. The potatoes were okay. Definitely needed more seasoning. Some of the larger pieces of the potato were not as well cooked either. The eggs were decent, again needed some more seasoning. Service was quick and overall I enjoyed the pancake which was big enough for two people.

Yelp
This was my first time at Table Talk, I pass by it often and always see cars, so clearly, I knew it was popular, good, or has loyal patrons...Upon my visit I'm going to have to go with loyal patrons. Backstory...I love a hot breakfast, and I grew up on Waffle House and Waffle House prices/portions so spending $20 before tip on a 2-egg breakfast that didn't include bacon, or a pancake or waffle was baffling. They don't even have a breakfast special that includes pancakes, a waffle, or French toast. All those items are a la cart only and the lowest price is $8.75. Now granted the additional $4 of bacon portion was justified, but if I wanted eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast here with two pancakes and a coffee it would be $25.50 before taxes and tip?..............Nah. For that price for breakfast, it would have to be AMAZING!!! and although the food wasn't bad it wasn't good enough for that price point. I had to season the potatoes with salt and pepper since it lacked both, but everything thing else was good. The place gives old dive vibes, which sets the scene for a local breakfast spot, and the service was pretty good but living in NOVA or not, in no way should a basic short-order cooked breakfast be $25.50. I will say this the portion of the bacon, and potatoes alone you could share the 2-egg breakfast with pancakes. I would do that if not you may be upset walking out paying $50-$60 for two breakfast plates.

Yelp
On a Saturday noon visit, this diner was surprisingly empty, leading to fast and friendly service. We tried the chicken wings and waffles; the chicken was crispy but oversalted, and the waffles were thick. The potatoes and ham were a decent portion but mediocre. The pancakes were absolutely huge! A mixed bag on the food, but the quick service was a plus.

Yelp
Solid breakfast spot in Alexandria. Portions are big - I had a bunch to take home. Home fries are the big winner. Chunky and well seasoned. Sausage gravy is spicy - really good. Little pricey - my items from the pics plus coffee was $35. But it is a lot of food.

Yelp
Yassssss Table Talk! Such a solid location to doordash from! The food is packaged well and always so tasty. I will try something different next time but I just love that the build your own omelette is big enough to save some for the next day.
google avatar

Stacy H.

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while. Primarily a breakfast place to me. They are now open for dinner too. They have a steady stream of customers but they can turn the tables quickly. Good size menu and they do offer brunch specials on weekend. The decor hasn't changed in decades. A friendly local cafe with decent food and friendly service.
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
When I am wanting some comfort food I think of TT! I cannot find creamed chipped beef on toast very often down here. So when I do and it tastes like home I am happy. The service is always friendly like you're going to an aunt and uncle's house. When it's not too busy I love sitting by the windows by the plants they have. Even during busy times they always seem to get you seated in a few minutes.

Yelp
Food was too oily and it didn't agree with me half way in. Omelette and potatoes is what I had. Staff was ok. We were just visiting from out of state so I won't be returning.
google avatar

Will M.

Yelp
This place isn't joking about their big portions. Service is quick. Sausage biscuit and gravy had some kick to it which was really good. Omelette had fresh and good sized toppings. Corn beef hash could have had some more flavor. Also doesn't break the bank even for a diner. Add this place to your breakfast rotation. Overall better than the silver diner chain.

Yelp
Table Talk is a diner, but a good diner, not a greasy spoon diner. I would say its biggest appeal is its inexpensive prices. We've eaten a baker's dozen or so times here. The menu is very compact, i.e. everything fits onto a single 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. Dishes are decent. Service is fairly good, though you really shouldn't expect anyone to offer water refills . We used to totally love the burgers here! But they decided inexplicably to switch to Brioche buns. I won't order a burger if it comes on a Brioche bun because those little creeps fall apart so easily. I just can't figure out why so many establishment use Brioche buns, only maybe because they are pretty to look at? Be mindful that while Table Talk has a parking lot, it can fill up at brunch time on the weekends.

Harrison G.

Yelp
Charming place with excellent and attentive service. Food was delicious and our server was kind and welcoming. Definitely a go-to for a warm and cozy breakfast spot! Also, the home fries were so good!

Yelp
Came here a few years ago for breakfast with my mom, this was one of her favorite breakfast spots as a kid. The menu isn't big, but they a nice selection. Breakfast is served open until 4PM. The prices are reasonable and they give you a nice serving. It's a little small inside as well. Staff members are nice.
google avatar

Dee D.

Yelp
I am never disappointed with Table Talk. Service always superb and food is scrumptious. Love the mom & pop spot to get away from the busy larger chains. Quaint small and personal atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
What a wonderful find. I had their Crab Benedict with a side of bacon. Both were cooked perfectly! The service was spot on.

Yelp
This place gets busy so be prepared. There's free parking by the restaurant but it is limited. My wife and I tried this place for a change of pace. Thankfully we were seated immediately. It's a no-frills restaurant but I'm more about the food. Service was pretty decent, especially considering how busy they were. Our food was very good, but my one criticism is the menu is somewhat limited. Some will argue a limited menu means they can focus on the few things they have. I had French toast with blueberries and a side of bacon. My wife had waffles with blueberries and a side of eggs. Again, food was good.
google avatar

Matthew P.

Yelp
Eggs benedict was swimming in sauce and potatoes were underdone. Service was slow and average at best

Devon P.

Yelp
Food was awesome and service was nice. The restaurant was super busy but we were seated in a timely manner. It didn't take long to get what my wife and I ordered. The service was great as well.

Yelp
Table Talk is a regular weekly breakfast pickup when I'm looking for something reliably good and consistent. I usually get their breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel with either bacon or sausage. Bagels are massive, bacon and sausage portion is generous and delicious. The price on this can't be beat, large breakfast for a small amount. I've also had their omelettes and hash browns before. Generous toppings amounts in the omelette, tasty eggs, crispy potatoes. Also a good go-to for me when I have guests. Both my parents and brother have liked this place a lot. I haven't dined in here just yet, but have picked up a few times. I like the breakfast bar, the cozy atmosphere, and the service. Staff is always friendly. Will update my review once I do dine in. Highly recommended place with great food and great prices.

Yelp
Is everything you want from a "round the way" diner. I grew up in new jersey so I had my fair share of classic 24/7 dinners. Let's get into it. Food: portions are generous, so in most cases get ready for left overs or share a dish (and add a side). I usually come here for breakfast sandwiches which a served all day. Eggs are moist, fluffy, and tasty. It comes with home fries. A few things to mention is that it can be a bit on the greasy side and there is no crunch on the home fries. You can ask for your order to be customized, which is awesome. For example, I like onion and peppers on my home fries. The manager is great. I asked for hot sauce and he was so sweet to offer me chalupa's because,"it's better". What a nice guy. Seems like the regulars and his staff like him a lot. The place is tiny and very humble. You will notice as soon as you drive up that the parking lot is usually busy. Come and take your time or order pick up.

Yelp
I have tried Table Talk on multiple occasion for lunch and breakfast. They offer a large menu and all items are done at a high level. The turkey lunch was huge, with gravy, corn and bread. I should have only eaten half. I also tried their chicken salad and soup with again is a large portion. Next time i will order the 1/2 portions. Last weekend I order the basic breakfast to go at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. Always a great experience.

Pat E.

Yelp
The food is served in generous portions, and is attractively plated and priced fairly. The service is friendly and prompt. The ambiance is "country kitchen." Lots of light, clean if cramped restrooms, and usually ample parking. So why only three stars instead of four or five? Because the owner was bought out by the Yates family, we have heard. The poor, poor, poor man. I do not now patronize any Yates business (or any business I identify as being owned by them), after having had very terrible experiences at their other businesses. As an example, look up "Yates Automotive Repairs," and read the one and two star reviews carefully. You'll notice the same descriptive terms appear regularly in the negative reviews: "scammed," "gouged," "robbed," etc. Then look at the amounts of money the negative reviews mention.
google avatar

LoriLynn R.

Yelp
Food was decent, service was nearly non existent, waitress didn't even come back to get the check, but the place is cute and kinda eclectic. Not sure if we will come back, so we will see.
google avatar

Lee P.

Yelp
Table Talk is always excellent. It reminds me of the classic "coffee shops" of Chicago, where I'm from. Service is always attentive and cheery. Every item on the menu is generous and well prepared. Best corned beef anywhere. My only question is one item on the sandwich menu. What the heck is a Texas Tommie?
google avatar

Melanie S.

Yelp
Was one of the best Ruben's I've had in a while. Highly recommend this hidden gem.
google avatar

Eric W.

Yelp
Table Talk was crowded but we got seated quickly. It was a bit cramped and people were bumping into me trying to get to the bar seats. I chose poorly and got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich with grits. My wife got the same except with strawberries. The grits were not hot and the sandwich was just ok. I really didn't feel like it was worth the price ($37 for the above with coffees).
google avatar

Keith M.

Yelp
The food was good dinner food. There is a nice variety of foods to choose from. It was basic nothing to write home about and maybe that's why it has taken me so long to find time to write my review. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. It's the perfect place for a Sunday brunch or a weekend lunch. The best part is they have onsite parking and that's important in Alexandria.

Yelp
3.5 stars on this visit. Nothing blew me out of the water but I enjoyed what I ate and would be willing to come back to this joint to try more dishes. I had a bite of my friends biscuit and gravy dish and it was fantastic, though I'm not sure I would be able to finish it all. The servings here are quite large. I was fortunate to be able to split the following two dishes below with a friend. What I got: Waffles (added chocolate chips) - 3.5-4* the waffles had a really good taste and I the chocolate chips tasted like quality chocolate (or maybe I just love chocolate). I don't know if I would've been as impressed with plain waffles but I will say they were the perfect consistency to be enjoyed with syrup. Build your own omelette (bacon, cheese, onion) - 3* a pretty standard omelette. I wish there was more cheese on the top of the omelette as it was a pretty large one and the cheese only covered half. The home fries that came with it were a little disappointing. They were very soft and would've been more enjoyable if they had a little more crunch. Some of the smaller pieces did but a majority of them were rather large chunks.
google avatar

Bradley L.

Yelp
Came for brunch and wasn't blown away. Got an omelette and some strawberries. The menu made it look like the strawberries would be really high quality but they were pretty average.

Foo D.

Yelp
Finally got to try Table Talk. Went and will never go back. My food (egg Benedict) was plain boring but the side of potatoes made it ok. My wife had a chicken salad that was also plain and over salted. I also struggled with the boring menu that offers limited options. Waitress was nice but i go to eat and that's what matters most. Not going again but I am not deterring anyone from going, just not for me.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is OK. We've been here several times, almost exclusively for breakfast and it's often "hit or miss!" Most recently, we had omelettes which were raw on the inside. The owner or manager (the person in charge) told us it's difficult to cook an omelette all the way through when you have a lot of ingredients. Our omelettes were sausage and cheese. What he should have said is that it's difficult to cook an omelette all the way through when you make them on a grill rather than individual frying pans. Ask the "omelette guy" at Royal Restaurant (also in Old Town) how to make a thoroughly cooked omelette...I'm sure he's show you! Yes, omelettes are tough to get right. If you can't cook them properly, take them off the menu. Your loyal customers (and there are many), probably wouldn't miss them. Pancakes here, especially blueberry, are very good. I'm sure there are other breakfast specialties that are done well here too, but we have yet to try them. A long-standing Alexandria breakfast staple, this place is on the outskirts of Old Town going toward the Masonic Temple. Their parking lot is difficult to maneuver with narrow spots and little turn-around opportunities. But hey, they have a parking lot. Plenty of breakfast places in this part of town, this one is worth adding to your list.

Yelp
Great food, nice portions. I tried the creamed chip beef on toast. Yum! Quick service and friendly staff. Can't go wrong here!

Yelp
[this experience was in May 2023, I never got around to posting till now. I'm still angry!] I have been here many times and always enjoyed it. My sister and her partner are visiting so I figured I'd take them there for the quaint diner vibe. I was so disappointed this time I had to talk to the manager, and all he could repeat was "that's not right" "that's not right," ostensibly agreeing with me but never really acknowledging there were some major issues. We came in and were seated but had to wait about 15 minutes to place an order, perhaps because my sister was in the parking lot on an emergency phone call, but our waitress was nowhere to be seen, and when we tried to flag down another she said she wasn't our waitress, sorry. Meanwhile, the manager was holding court with the only other table there, an older couple who seemed to be regulars, telling them about the process of getting a divorce approved in the Greek Orthodox church, etc., how he was glad they were enjoying their food, his mother's recipe etc. Never once thought to look over and ask if we needed anything or to place an order. Waitress finally reappeared and we were able to place our order and she was fairly unresponsive. We ordered two hot sandwiches and a club and two bloody marys. Bloody Marys never came and when the sandwiches did they were literally just the meat and rye. No condiments or lettuce or anything -- the most dry excuse for a sandwich you ever saw, with a mountain of chips. After some five more minutes I was able to flag down the waitress and ask for some mayonnaise and after some ten minutes more that came. It was so disappointing. As I was waiting to pay some folks in the parking lot seemed to be coming (it was toward closing) and he joked about "they can eat tuna." It was sad to see that a place that does such a good breakfast basically falls apart for lunch. Owner made no attempt to rectify any of it other than to repeat "that's not right." As the poem says, nothing gold can stay.

Yelp
Cute little diner that you wouldn't expect in the area that it's in. We ate breakfast there; I had the chipped beef and it was exactly as I remembered as a child. Good and creamy with a side of crispy home fries. The server was nice and kept my coffee full. They have big portion sizes for a decent price.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Nice small size diner with an interesting bar area. We were seated immediately and had menus (and coffee) in short order. Standard diner menu, great Waffles, pancakes and egg dishes. All perfectly prepared and served hot. Would definitely return.

Sara S.

Yelp
First I am not an influencer, I am a residence of Alexandria Virginia giving an honest review. This morning I ordered breakfast items French toast, fresh strawberries, hash browns, turkey sausage, and side of eggs. Let me tell you the food was delicious and nice and hot. I've been living in Alexandria Virginia for over 10 years and dined in and ordered delivery from Table Talk. I have never ever had a bad experience at all. Excellent place to eat and always great customer service. They check on your while dining and if you call and ask for something extra, they will accommodate you such as extra condiments or cream or sugar for your coffee. Please don't take my review for it, try them out for yourself and you will not be disappointed. Cheers
google avatar

Bill W.

Yelp
Always stopped by for their big breakfasts, but last week stopped in for dinner. Ultra large portions, great tender steak and my wife's salad was carried over for two lunches! New at dinner, food was very good.
google avatar

Micaela R.

Yelp
Came here yesterday for a quick brunch and this place is super cute and so warm! You can tell everything is homemade and they aren't just trying to get you out. You have so much time to enjoy your food and your company. I'd highly recommend!
google avatar

Kate Z.

Yelp
This charming little gem is tucked away off Duke st near Old Town, and offers incredible service. We were greeted by the owner and given our choice of table immediately. I ordered the BLT while my friend got the Rachel. Both meals were simple but delicious! I've honestly never had a better BLT with fresh veggies and crunchy bacon. The coffee is famous in this area and with good reason. Fantastic in the cute little cups.

Jonathan A.

Yelp
Great service and food! Compliments on the new menu design! All day breakfast is already a winning a feature but add the atmosphere and Table Talk exceeds expectations.

Jason S.

Yelp
Stumbled accross this place as it's down the street from a job site. A customer suggested trying this place out for lunch today between meetings. It was a nice little diner with a simple menu. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. The food arrived promptly and the order was accurate. The food was good and the portions were more than fair. I plan on returning when I am back in this area.
google avatar

Sam W.

Yelp
Really good food with small town, family owned diner vibes. Always packed and service is decent. I love the biscuits and gravy - my fiance has had a bunch of things that have all been really good. Prices are really reasonable. Locally owned and great overall - out new favorite breakfast place.
google avatar

Robert P.

Yelp
A delightful but always crowded family restaurant. Very decent food at very reasonable prices. While servers are outstanding - the service can be a just a little slow because of a sometimes limited wait staff combined with large crowds.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
I've heard good things about this restaurant and was able to eat here one morning during the week. It wasn't busy. Parking is available in their parking lot. It's a decent amount of parking if the restaurant isn't busy. We were seated quickly and our food came out in a timely manner. The restaurant has a homey diner vibe. The garbage omelette comes with all the add ins available. It was delicious. Cooked just right. The home fries were tender and seasoned well. The French toast were simple but good. The Reuben was good. I'm not a huge fan of chips with a hot sandwich because the chips absorb the moisture and then get soggy. I felt like I had to eat my chips to fast to preserve them. First world issue.

Frances S.

Yelp
First of all Marie is a great server but what happen today was not her fault. We went in on Saturday January 25, 2025. The experience was horrible. We order 2 BLT sandwiches on wheat. The order came out and the bacon was ice cold. So we told Marie and she sent it back. Then the second time it came out the bacon was microwave. Terrible so I didn't eat it and ask Marie to take it off my check. They say the food is cooked fresh but it isn't. The food comes from US FOOD but it not homemade it already packaged. Ambiance to busy parking was terrible also. Did not enjoy anything today. Very disappointed in TABLE TALK.
google avatar

Carolyn C.

Yelp
Have you heard of "farm to table "? Well, this place is freezer to table ". I was there for the breakfast food. I had chicken and waffles and home fries. The chicken was the Tyson spicy chicken drum sticks and flats. I cannot eat spicy and they did not indicate they would be. The waffle looked like they popped them in a toaster. Not only that, they were very small and had bits of hard sugar throughout. Talking about sugar overload. The home fries were okay at best. The service was very good. The ambiance was okay. I would never go there again.

Yelp
Great breakfast and reasonably priced. Gloria was fantastic! Very cute place. Recommended!

Yelp
I truly wanted to love this place and give it more stars; however, I can't due to a few reasons. The positives are: - the wait staff is absolutely the friendliest around. They made us feel welcomed and at home. - the restaurant is situated in the heart of old town and is a great little centralized spot if you just want to grab a bite and then walk around. - we did not have to wait long for a table and the place was very clean to include the bathrooms. - the food was actually good, not to die for, but good. - I really like the atmosphere and diner feel. The negatives, and the reason for the 3-stars: - as I said, the food was good, however, I cannot stand ala cart menus. They are virtually a form of culinary bait-and-switch. What does this mean? Well, here it is. When you go to a restaurant and see that a burger is $7.99 you think what a great deal. However, you soon find out that you only get a burger and to add fries or anything else is another $4.99, making your small lunch a total of $12 bucks, plus tax, plus tip, plus if you are paying for your family or friends. This is the worst type of practice a restaurant can adopt, in my opinion. They nickel and dime you to death. - the food portions are not substantial. - they have mimosas but they are super expensive, $9 for one, and that doesn't mean refills or bottomless. Overall, this place is not gross or disgusting. In fact, it's the opposite. I just don't like to walk into a nickel and dime restaurant feeling like I could have gotten more food from somewhere else for half the price.
