Is like a hidden gem in Cairo. We loved the food, you can tell us homemade food. We ordered the beef and potato clay pot and it was really nice. Also looooved the rice with vermicelli, this is really popular in Colombians homes❤️. They send you the menu in English so it’s perfect.

25/1/26 - Cairo - Sunday evening We three middle aged guys from London had been meaning to have a meal here during our stay but were always too late (after the opera or a concert) or when we popped by it was empty. It promised a good selection of vegetarian food. On our return from the Coptic Centre we found another 'veggie' option was Macaroni Reda which we found but only had Koshary as the veggie option which is everywhere. We opted for TB instead. I popped by and a few people were dining. I asked for the menu and the young man supper me it on his phone and a qr code linked to Insta which I followed up but on getting to the hotel deleted it by mistake. After freshening up at the hotel we made our way here to arrive by 20:20 to find three sets of tourists at the kitchen side tables. The waiter let us take photos of his phone with the menu scrolling down. Their instagram link or website was not useful at all. We took a table opposite the kitchen. One leg needed a folded up tissue to stop its wobbling. The vegetarian selection was very limited (again despite promises) so we ordered a selection of soups and our friend bit the flexitarian bullet and chose a stuffed pigeon (as typically Egyptian). It came with a molokai. The small side salads arrived first and were quite spicy with black pepper and cumin. They were finished before the main courses arrived so were starters in effect. My vegetable casserole was a spicy tagine, dryish and very tasty. The lentil soup was spicier and thicker than the Old.. (previous night) nearby at about the same price. This one was more home-made. The Molokai was also tasty and gloopy. Our friend's stuffed pigeon was tasty albeit fiddly. A finger bowl would have helped to clean fingers during and after. He really liked the stuffing (a risotto style spiced rice). The rice was generous with a tasty two grain mix. Several cats were begging incessantly, climbing onto our chairs, climbing en masse onto the vacated tables to get scraps and emptying the bins. That and the dog/cat pooh at the end of the road are not welcoming to me, however cute the cats are. The waiter gave us a water spray to deter them which worked (even on just showing them the spray. The toilet was clean but did not flush. Shortly after we arrived the three sets of other guests left. People eat early! The 'atmosphere' had gone. We were all alone and it was quite windy so we moved over to the kitchen side. There was an internal table but that had a laptop playing tinny Arabic music a bit too loud. They could make something more of that space as they had festooned the quiet cul-de-sac in bunting and wall hangings. Another wall hanging inside against the ugly fridge would have done the job. We cleared our plates and the bread, the pigeon was stripped to its bones and NOT fed to the cats! The young man made a delivery trip on his motorbike and one of the (five co-op) women cooks came out to chat with him. Yes they were smokers. We ordered the bill which came as hand written and an accurate 945 with a 12% tip (not specified earlier). I asked if tax was included to which he said yes. The total was a reasonable 1060 which I paid by phone/card in £Eg (£16.71). We left happy and quite full, just right.

A Hidden Gem in Cairo! We had an amazing time eating here. The soups are phenomenal! We came at around 9pm. The restaurant is tucked away in a small alley, it is kinda private and quiet. We felt peaceful and relaxed eating here, and we were also having authentic Egyptian foods, which was a rare experience during our trip in Egypt.

Chose this place due to the good reviews and I'm glad we ate here. The place is decorated nicely, mainly locals were eating here. It is run by a family and the cooking tasted simply delicious. There is the cutest family of street cats in that alley and we were glad to see, that the owners left some leftovers for them. Highly recommended! 👍🏻

We had a great meal here!!! We found it on google, and saw that it was an authentic experience, good food, and women-owned so we wanted to try. Service was good, food was amazing and really good portions. Would definitely recommend!

This was a delicious hidden gem tucked away in an alley. Delicious home-cooked meals with a menu that changes everyday. As a traveller, I truly enjoyed the local feel this place had.
