El Tacazo Taco Shop Review - Homestead - Miami - The Infatuation

"El Tacazo looks like a regular orange house in Homestead with a giant palapa next to it. The only indication that it’s an actual restaurant is a small green awning over the front door. Walk into the little house, place your order, and they’ll bring your food to the picnic tables outside. The tacos are good, especially the juicy carnitas. But the carne asada burrito with creamy beans, rice, and cheese is our favorite. " - Virginia Otazo

Excelente! Exactly what we needed to satisfy our Mexican food cravings while we were in the area. The service was quick, friendly, and made us feel right at home. They brought us a tray with extra limes, cilantro, onions, and lettuce, which was a nice touch. The food was absolutely tasty, and each bite hit the spot. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in the area to enjoy another great meal at El Tacazo! The flavors were authentic and vibrant, really reminding us of the best Mexican food we've had. The portions were generous, and we felt like we got great value for what we paid. The atmosphere was laid-back and cozy, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff was attentive, checking in just enough without interrupting our conversation. It’s the kind of place where you can truly enjoy your food and unwind. Can’t wait for our next visit!

The food here is absolutely outstanding, truly exceptional in every way. We had the enchiladas, the bistecca, and the quesadillas, and each dish was phenomenal. The flavors were rich, fresh, and deeply satisfying, and even the rice and beans, often overlooked, were incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. This place has the warm, welcoming feel of a small, family-owned restaurant, and you can truly taste the love and authenticity in every bite. It’s real, traditional Mexican cuisine at its finest. I only wish I had remembered to take photos before we started eating, it was that good! This is a gem we’ll absolutely be coming back to.

This is a great little authentic Mexican restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend this place

Google
Truly an amazing hidden gem. The staff are SO nice. They have amazing authentic food, including homemade chips to serve with their homemade salsas and pico de gallo. They serve massive portions at an insanely cheap price.

Google
Hidden gem in Florida City. Dishes are tasty, and sitting outside under the palm roof is really nice. In spite of the good food quality, there were only a few guests.

Google
My favorite go to taco catering spot! The people here are so nice and the food is delicious. The patio outside under the tiki hut is such a vibe. I’m a lifetime customer for sure.

Google
Nice place and great food ! First time had Biria and I love it very much ! Be back soon !

Google
It’s a small hole in the wall with counter top seating only inside the establishment. There is additional seating outside under a tiki hut. I found the food I tried to have good flavor and was fresh. I had the sope de carne asada, burrito de carne asada which comes loaded and what’s not pictured (sorry was hungry) is a taco of carnitas mixto which means it’s shredded pork with chopped pig ears.

Yelp
I never knew this place existed. It's tucked in between a street and is overshadowed by another (bigger) Mexican restaurant. The inside is small, but a much bigger outside covered area. Inside is wall seating w/ stools. Came here on a weekday for late lunch, it was empty inside, so parking was not an issue and I sat in front of a window. Staff was super friendly and you can hear them talk and laugh listening to music in the background...good vibes. I had the chilaquiles and my wife had their taco meal (3 tacos and rice/beans). Both were really good...I was very surprised. From the several other Mexican restaurants in Homestead, the food here is the best I've had here, which is why I gave it 5 stars. We tried the food with no sauces,l and confirmed it was good. The restaurant didn't use shredded cheese, fresh cheese (just the right amount). it's the best 30 dollar meal I've spent in a while. Bottom line, a must try for Mexican food spots.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place one day looking for a new taco spot & was honestly surprised with how fire it was! I ordered the carne asada fries & the plate was sooo big I couldn't even finish it but it was so so good!! Definitely coming back soon :)

Yelp
Very delicious food and very affordable! The staff were lovely and made our food in less than 10mins. We stopped by to grab some lunch on our way to the Miami airport. I ordered 2 of the Barbacoa Sopes and my boyfriend ordered the Carnitas Burrito, which came with homemade chips. We were also given limes and 2 different hot sauces with our meals which were a wonderful addition. The food was super tasty and if I lived in the area I would definitely be back! I had never tried sopes before and was surprised how much I liked them. The portions were pretty big so I was full after just one. The flavors of the meat, beans, cheese, lettuce, and corn masa dough were so yummy. I would definitely recommend this spot! It's got something for everyone.

Yelp
I loved their set up. It looks like an old home, yet inside it is a Mexican mini restaurant. We settled outside under their vast tiki hut. We ordered some tacos. They were ok but they did not blow my socks off. They were traditional no thrills Mexican style tacos.

Jhonn V.

Yelp
They're full of shit , never get carnitas mix . I got 1 pound of assorted cueritos and shit and cero meat . Wtf it's called carnitas for a reason. No mamen

Yelp
Excelente! Just what we needed to hit the spot for our Mexican food craving when we were in the area. Service was quick and very friendly. They brought us a tray with extra limes/cilantro/onions/lettuce. Food was tasty - would definitely revisit when in the area!

Yelp
I've been coming to El Tacazo for over 2 years now and never has it disappointed. There is a reason why I drive 35 minutes to get the best Mexican in the greater Miami area. The service is great, prompt, and friendly. The food is delicious, healing and warms the soul. No matter what you get, you can't go wrong at El Tacazo.

Yelp
I had the Al pastor, Carnitas and Lengua all were good. Highly recommend and Definitely going back.

Yelp
Honestly, our waitress was the best thing going for this place. She was friendly, attentive, and she made our dining experience nice, but the food was underwhelming. I LOVE a good taco, I LOVE Mexican rice & beans. The tacos didn't have a lot of flavor, the shells were crumbly, the rice was ORANGE and mushy, and the beans were very sad. Joel was disappointed as soon as the food came out. He felt like they should serve more rice & beans with your order, but then didn't care for the taste as well. I really wanted to love this little taco joint, but unfortunately that didn't happen.

Yelp
What a little gem! My boyfriend decided to get creative and look for top taco spots and this one came up. This place is very small inside but they do have an outdoor seating area that is much larger. While I was there I noticed a lot of customers were picking up. Our server was great, she spoke English and Spanish and was quick. My boyfriend got the Tacos and I went with the enchiladas. GO With the enchiladas, that's my recommendation. The plates are small but still a good portion size. You do receive a small app of chips and salsa and topping for tacos if ordered. You don't feel overly stuffed and uncomfortable. The food is fresh! The chicken was delicious!!!! I'll definitely be going back!!! To all my Yelpers remember to check in you will get a 10% discount on your first order. Our bill was only $30 with tip included. This spot is definitely one to check out !!

Yelp
We have been stopping for Mexican food on our way to the Keys quite frequently and unfortunately only now found this jewel. 1) Feels just like a mini vacation in Mexico. 2) The guacamole, the tacos, the quesadillas all were great. 3) Not dry, not oily, just right, unlike many other "authentic" Mexican restaurants in South Florida. 4) I would add a pinch of salt, but that is probably just me. 4) We loved the music and the decor. 5) Service was excellent. 6) Absolutely no complaints. 7) Highly recommended. 8) Will be back! 9) Soon.

Brianna M.

Yelp
So I've been coming here for about three years because it had really good food. But today I order some food for my coworkers and my self from their uber eats and there was a fricken German roach on my carne asada fries. I'm mortified to think of all of what I've eaten from there had roaches on it. Be careful. When I called to let them know they told me "no"and laughed which was insane cause you can't tell me that I didn't see that roach crawling on my food.

Yelp
Good food and service, lovely outdoor seating. Clean. They have great fresh pico de gallo. Looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
My first time here and the food was delicious I will be back again. I place an order and it was ready when I got there. The place is nice and clean.

Yelp
SERVICE:5 FOOD QUALITY:5 DRINK QUALITY: N/A ORDER TIME:5 AESTHETICS:4 NOISE LEVEL:5 MENU SELECTION:5 OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 4.83 After a long day of swamp hiking and gator gazing we found this place had great reviews and wasn't far from where we were staying. They don't really have a true parking lot and it's really just parking on rubble and the side of the road. The inside was all relocated outside and was just a order window. If you want to eat there you have go outside or you can get it to go. We chose outdoors. The lady at the counter was very nice, and their menu had many great traditional choices to choose from. The outdoor area was very clean, and the tables were in good condition. All the tables were under a covered patio with plenty of shade. With the shade and the slight breeze it was very delightful. They delivered the food to our table with plenty of napkins, and utensils. Our food was absolutely delicious. Sadly I ordered too much food because it all looked, and smelt so good. I wasn't able to finish the fries because I was too full. The fries were cooked to perfection. I honestly would just order fries if I ever go back. The salsa was very flavorful with a hint of spicy. Overall, this restaurant had authentic tasting food that wasn't overly greasy. The eating area was very clean and the service was fantastic. If you're in the mood for Mexican food then this is definitely a place to visit.

Yelp
This Mexican place is located on a side street, and while the restaurant is small and looks like an average home, they do have a large-ish sign in front. It's across the street from the larger Rosita restaurant. Walking in, the place is quite bare (likely because all tables were removed) with only the kitchen and ordering counter. If you plan to dine in, you can eat outside the house in a tiki hut. We opted to try a variety of tacos. They came out fast, brought to the table by a lady, and were heaped with lots of meat, so it's a pretty good value. They are quite delicious, though could be more sizzling hot. I also wish they have more condiment to choose from, besides the onion and cilantro, like pickles and radish, as well as hot sauces of different spice level. The only issue with dining there is that there are lots of flies. I could barely stop shooing them long enough to snap a picture!! Needless to say, that didn't make an enjoyable dining experience.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem!!!! Amazing taste, decent portions, great service, and fine food fast(not just fast food)!!!
google avatar

Shana M.

Yelp
Actually my co-workers and I were pretty excited to try this spot. I had heard really good things about this restaurant, we ordered a variety of items. Chicken tacos, steak nachos, birria tacos. We didn't really feel like the meat tasted fresh. The service was really attentive. I'd try it again, maybe it was a bad day.
google avatar

Yelp
If you find yourself in Florida City and want some of the best tacos around, come here! Listen to me when I say you should try everything on their menu. The carnitas tacos are my to good fan favorite, tender with savory flavors. And for those with picky children eaters, try the Tacazo Machos, it's enough for two-three tiny hands. And if you are feeling like eating in the comfort of your home, they have reasonable prices for taco kits or food by the pound. The staff are always fast and attentive.

Yelp
When you think of south Florida, you think of tropical weather, the Everglades, maybe even Cuban food. But, at least for me, Mexican food did not automatically jump into my mind. El Tacazo is a Mexican restaurant that despite its humble setting and aesthetic, kicks out some pretty solid Mexican food. As for the humble setting, I am a firm believer that the more humble the establishment, the better the food will be. There is nothing fancy about tacos, burritos and the other beloved Mexican dishes, but I have to say that Mexican food is one of my favorite cuisines. I would definitely recommend El Tacazo if you are in the mood for Mexican food and are anywhere by this establishment.

Yelp
It was Sunday morning and we had all the moods for some barbacoa tacos. Hearing from a friend that they sold by the pound we headed here. They open at 10 am and can I tell you there was already a revolving door of people coming in and the phone wouldn't stop ringing. These are all good signs for my belly, lol. They have a big sign of all meat options sold by the pound as well as a regular menu of full dishes, tacos, sopes, burritos, jarritos and more. They have an outside area to sit and enjoy your food along with a cold beer. The food truck outside is actually where most of the cooking is done and food comes from. Tortillas are made in house and you can buy 8 for $2. We were in and out in about 10 minutes and we engulfed the tacos. They came with a side of onions and cilantro, 2 hot sauces (red and green) and limes. Flavors are all here and it was a perfect meal to eat throughout the day at a worth it price!

Yelp
Great little hidden gem in Florida City! I was just driving by one of the side streets off of Palm, near Krome, & happened upon this Mexican restaurant that looks like a lil house! Upon walking inside, it's a quaint little room with a counter facing you and large menu on the wall. Also great décor, very kitsch. with posters of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and even Bob Marley along with some street signs on the wall. When you walk through to the backside door, you have access to the back patio large tiki hut with great Mexican decor, picnic style tables painted nicely, fans, & sound speakers playing fun Mexican tunes. It's a great atmosphere! The food... It was my 1st time here and I was hungry... I ordered the burrito meal with carne asada... It was super hearty & delicious! What's great is they have your choice of a few different types of meat you can put in your burrito or tacos or what not... so I chose carne asada. The little pieces of steak in the burrito had some pieces with fat on them but that was no biggie. Didn't effect how great tasting the burrito was! Next time I'll probably try the tacos al pastor. This place is a great hidden gem though.. Off the beaten path with a cool atmosphere. Perfect for single diners, couples, and definitely family or groups (to sit in the back tiki hut area!) I'll definitely be back. :)

Yelp
This adorably quaint restaurant is a must visit. I'm always in the area but surprisingly never eat anything when I'm here. A few days ago I finally decided to give something a try and boy, oh boy, am I glad I did. El Tacazo is so cozy and comfortable with great atmosphere and pricing. When you arrive you can place your order at the counter inside or you can take a menu and they'll come to you at a table of your choosing. There are a few tables inside and a bunch outside under this wonderfully decorated gazebo. If you'd rather order online and pickup they also offer that! The staff was very kind, patient, and helpful. I felt extremely comfortable making my order and oh gosh the food was scrumptious. It 100% hit the spot on my craving. I ordered the enchilada platter with rice and beans on the side (no meat) while my partner ordered the asada fries with a side of rice and beans. Both meals were so yummy and and large. I believe each of our meals were $12 and to get rice and beans on the side was another $2 or $3. When we went there was only one other family outside and it was really just a great experience. Great music, large fans for the Florida heat, and sweet decor. Our food was brought out to us, along with lime, cilantro, and other additives for our meals, as is traditional for Mexican restaurants. Next time I have to see if they have any desserts because I'm 100% coming again!

Yelp
Tacazo is a very traditional Mexican taqueria. Today I came for lunch and as always.... I wanted to try the tacos. I had Al pastor, tongue and mix carnitas which has pork belly and pork skin in addition to the traditional pork. Tortillas are freshly made and served warm... Al pastor tacos I would say were the best of what I tried... tongue tacos and carnitas I thought they needed a lot more seasoning. The salsa station was dirty but had a trio of salsas to pick from as well as toppings for tacos. In my opinion they need to adjust their seasoning and restaurant experience.

Yelp
Stopped here after work to have an early dinner with one of my friends/coworkers. A little hole in the wall type of place with some outdoor seating. I ordered the 3 taco dinner as well as some fresh guacamole with nachos. The guacamole was fantastic. Very fresh and delicious. Same thing with the tacos. I had a chicken, al pastor and barbacoa as my choice of the tacos. All super delicious. The horchata I had for a drink was absolutely on point. My only complaints. No alcohol and it's pretty hard to enjoy the food with lots of flys flying around. Nonetheless I gave it 4 stars because the food is just worth it!

VJ K.

Yelp
Cool little place. Fun atmosphere, food was very good. Had Samantha as our waitress, she was fantastic. Will definitely be back! Definitely enjoyed sitting outside.

Yelp
Wow! Great little place for delicious tacos at a bargain price. Didn't want the fast food options when leaving Key Largo so I used Yelp to find a local spot and was glad I did. I ordered three tacos. El pastor, carnitas, and shrimp. Meat tacos were $2 and shrimp was $3. They make their own tortillas, either corn or flour. Made to order and grilled they are filled with a generous pprtion of tasty meat. They have onions, cilantro, and lime as well as hot sauce or salsa verde on the tables. The tacos were so good I bought some meat and tortillas to take home. The meat ranges from $10-$15 per pound and the tortillas are 8 for $2. The service is very efficient and helpful. You can eat inside or outside. Skip the chains and come have a great meal at this local taqueria. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Birra tacos! The tacos de birria here are good! The consommé was seasoned almost to perfection! The red salsa had just the right amount of heat. I just wish they were grilled a bit crunchier. But overall the tacos de birria are usually up to par

Mari R.

Yelp
Pocket of home found here at El Tacazo Love Love Loveddd everything about my experience. Definitely recommend to anyone ESPECIALLY the asada fries
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
Awesome food. Reasonable prices. No alcohol. Everything we ordered here was super delicious. The only thing that could have been better was to have a margarita or a beer.
google avatar

Sara V.

Yelp
We stopped to eat at this restaurants after reading so many good reviews. Unlike most people's review, we were lucky to have good customer service. The girl in the front was pleasant, took our order and brought food out quickly. The food, however was horrible. No taste, meat was over cooked as it has been refried a couple times to the point that it was burnt. Definitely not coming back
google avatar

Norma F.

Yelp
I love Mexican food excellent!! The attention very good ! I love nachos!! The gorditas yummi
google avatar

Becks A.

Yelp
I must say, the only disappointing part was the outdoor seating. Although it's a nice area and open air, you got the flys around which is just annoying. But is Miami and that time of year... I can't imagine coming here in the middle of August, but i will surely be back. The attention was great and food was delicious. You must start worth the nachos, they are a nice amount and every nacho had something on it. I also had a sope, with chicken, i enjoyed it. Also ordered a tripa taco and a al pastor taco, both were delicious. My friend had a gordita and a burrito, which he enjoyed very much also. Maybe next time we'll just get take out, but surely a spot you want to try.
google avatar

Josette S.

Yelp
While walking through the Redlands market place, El Tacazo is a good stop for a quick bite. Good truck based, but with sit down service. Now, it's nothing fancy, but it does the trick. The food is your basic, but still filling to provide energy for walking around. I ordered the steak quesadilla and the small menudo. The quesadilla was really good. The tortilla is fresh and fluffy. Oh also it is a pretty big quesadilla. The menudo was pretty basic, not really anything to rave about, but it is very filling. Oh the horchata is a good choice for a beverage on a hot day. When I go back I'll definitely get the quesadilla and perhaps some tacos.
google avatar

Gabrielle V.

Yelp
Best Mexican restaurant in Homestead!!!! Went on a Sunday with my husband and son. We ordered the Bria tacos, carne asada burrito, chicken quesadilla and guacamole nachos. We've tried many Mexican restaurants in homestead and let me tell you this place is hands down the best we've had. There outside seating is super cute. Don't worry about it being hot, they have plenty of fans and the Mexican music is a great touch. We will definitely be eating more frequently here.
google avatar

Valentina A.

Yelp
Is the food good? YES. Amazing, in fact. Delicious. Authentic. That's why we came back. But the service leaves much to be desired. I get it, you are slammed. But don't tell me is going to be 20-30 min to get a to-go order and then after that time is up tell me is going to be another 20-30 min. And then tell me that a third time. That's disrespectful.
google avatar

Patricia C.

Yelp
We got our lunch to go on our way down to the keys today. This place is sooooo good!!! We had tacos, gorditas, birratas and breakfast burrito. They were quick with our order and everything was 100% accurate! Friendly tip or maybe a special request .... try the birratas juice on some white rice!!!! Holyness they did that GOOD!!!

Melissa T.

Yelp
Great food great service. Best tacos in Miami . My family enjoys it very much. The ambiance is good
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
I ordered two plates of meat. I told them I'd wait outside for my food. I waited and waited .... The people who ordered at the same time got their food, ate it and left. 4 other people came , ordered food, got it and left. I called and tbe girl who answered acted like she had never heard of my order. I left and went to McDonald's. I stopped by the next day, called and asked for the manager or owner. The girl who answered the phone said there wasn't one, and hung up.
google avatar

Laurie V.

Yelp
The outdoor patio is great considering we're in a pandemic. The service was fast and the food was delicious. When the check is given, there's a QR Code on it that allows you to pay the check from your phone via Apple Pay. It's extremely user friendly. I would like to go back and try other items on the menu.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
We walked in and ordered 2lbs of carnitas to go. Service was quick with turnaround of about 10 minutes. And the carnitas were delicious
google avatar

Kimberly B.

Yelp
Nice to find a place that sells taco meat by the pound like back home in Texas the al pastor was very good , home made tortillas it came with cilantro, green & red salsa . We will definitely come back next time in town.
google avatar

Carolina E.

Yelp
100000/10 !! This place was amazing! If I could give this place 100000 stars I would! My boyfriend and I tried the carne asada fries and the birria tacos and it exceeded our expectations! It was amazing and I will definitely come back.
google avatar

Jaden T.

Yelp
The Asada Fries are to die for! Food is amazing but no alcohol, you can bring your own drinks.
google avatar

Xuan L.

Yelp
Not sure how authentic it is, but the taste is really just OK. I almost feel like it is lack of flavor. We have waited for 1 HOUR for our food! Everyone behind us got their food before us. We ordered the food for here, they brought out as to go without napkin and silverware. Not very nice experience. Make sure that you wait inside for your food so they don't forget.
google avatar

Alia A.

Yelp
Yassss to tacos everyday, wishing I lived closer! Located in the Redland Farmers Market Village, the first one when you enter from the back is El Tacazo! Both times we have come, have been delicious! Come earlier so that you can take advantage, $15.00 of al pastor 1 pound and another $2.00 for 8 homemade warm tortillas! You see the meat there being cut right in front of you! You sit on covered picnic tables and they bring the food to you! The waitress has been the same both times and she is attentive! You can stuff your face with tacos, and take a walk around the market when you are finished! There's live music, sweets, shops and fruits/veggies! If you haven't been, this is definitely something different and you won't regret it!

Maricela M.

Yelp
I have been coming here for some time now and I was extremely disappointed for the food I ordered Sunday night. It's not cheap and on top of that the brias were dry and hard no sauce to dip it, the quesadillas soaked in oil and the burrito super dry as well. Very very disappointing.
google avatar

Ana B.

Yelp
Terrible experience, first I order 2 birras taco, chips and guacamole, it took like for real an hour to gave me my order after they forgot to prepared it, tacos were cold soggy and barely put meat and definitely not cheese, they had good taste but definitely not worth the price , I had to throw the guacamole away, it was black and tasted absolutely disgusting, birria tacos are supposed to have like a broth, the good part is they put just an empty cup. The really concerning part is how this place is full of fly, EVERYWHERE, they leave boxes of food and flys can get into the food
google avatar

Luis G.

Yelp
What Can I Say. Definitely a Hole in the Wall! Generous Portions, Cheap Prices and Authentic. This is Definitely where the Locals eat. Very Casual. Shows up as a Food Truck. It's not. It's a freestanding small building with free street side parking. There's also outdoor seating. Found this place because the one down the street was closed. I'm glad we did, they're definitely better. Don't expect fancy. But you won't be disappointed. They were out of Avocados I was looking forward to trying the guacamole. But Definitely will try it next time.
