on sunday night i had ones of the worst fast food experiences of my life in a taco bell store. I ordered from the app to pick up at the taco bell restaurant in lakeside chicago. upon arriving the outside of the store was crowded by people yelling and smoking and i had to squeeze my way through to access the entrance. walking inside i was shocked to see the floor of the store was soaking wet, with up to an inch or so of water in some places. there were multiple altercations happening; patrons were shouting, employees were shouting, and i was a bit afraid. i tried to move past a chair so i would not have to wade through water, and an apparent “security guard” told me not to move his chair. as i got to the front and tried to ask the cashier if my order was ready, they said they would be refunding me. an employee shouted from the back telling the cashier not to as they were already making the order. they were however out of the most crucial parts of the order. the employee would shout from the back, “no steak, sub?” which i feel i had no option but to say yes. “no chalupa, sub?” “no cinnabon, sub?” after about 20 minutes i had finally been handed my order, and i rushed out of the store to get away from the chaos, as tensions were continuing to build inside. when i got home and began unwrapping my food, i could not believe that almost every single item in my $30 order was wrong. my “cheesy steak chalupa” was just ground beef inside hard and soft shells. They seemingly substituted the cheese in the 5-layer burritos for lettuce(????) The cheezit tostadas had no beef and were very soggy. we did not recieve the soft taco supreme, chalupa supreme, double stack taco, or cinnabon delights, and instead received 3 plain soft tacos and cinnamon twists( that tasted like straight chemicals). that is surely my first and last time at that location, which is unfortunate as it is very close to where i live. will definitely be avoiding taco bell for a long time.
