The Original Taco Bell Building – Irvine, California - Gastro Obscura

"Irvine, California, isn’t the place where the first Taco Bell opened (that would be Downey, a city about 30 miles northwest of Irvine), but Irvine has something a bit stranger to its name. Since 2015, a nondescript parking lot behind the Taco Bell headquarters has been the home of the original Taco Bell building. Closed and at risk of being demolished in its original Downey location, “Taco Bell Numero Uno” was uprooted and driven down Interstate 5 to the Taco Bell headquarters, where it has sat locked and empty ever since. There’s been talk of eventually finding a new place to put it, but for now it occupies its humble patch of asphalt, resting silently in the shadow of the corporate behemoth that it spawned. Know Before You Go The Taco Bell rear parking lot is technically private property, but visitors can just drive into it, and there are no gates or guards. With that being said, there are also no signs to tell you where to find the original Taco Bell building. To get to the parking lot where the building is located, take the front entrance road at the Taco Bell headquarters and follow a counter-clockwise loop around the parking garage. Please be discreet, be respectful, and don't touch or try to enter the building. Be aware that the building is occasionally fully covered with tarp to protect it from inclement weather, so it may not be possible to see it if it's been raining." - alebrun, wilfort, casinoskunk, shellyd8989, joeypesto, firemandk

The new chapolie gilled steak burrito. Over $3 and barley bigger than a sauce packet!!!! Ridiculous! Im done spend an insane amount of money on barley any food. Your better off going to a mexican restaurant and getting fajitas.

Russellville, ky.......you need to make a unannouunced visit to this location. Last night they had really loud music, ???? If you could call it that...I could barely hear the cashier after I ask her to repeat what she said. The girl in the back putting the food together was dancing and singing....... over the food. 🤢 We sat down to eat listening to the horrible music and teenagers sitting close trying to talk over the music. It was very loud. What happened, this use to be a good place to eat. Keeps getting worse.

The Taco Bell‘s on Reisterstown Road supposed to open up at nine. It’s like 907 somebody’s in there, but they said they’re not open yet. This is a bad business. They never open on time. I recommend you to go somewhere else.

I showed up at 1150 and they already had the door locked before the official closing time. I was picking up Uber eats and I saw the two bags on the counter. They couldn’t hand me the bags and told me that had to go to the drive through that already had 12 cars in front of me. I wanted to call the main office to tell them about this. But they are closed. This is the time they should be working If you ever saw the lines at Taco Bell on Friday and Saturday you know what I mean. How many people are here at 900am on a Tuesday???

First, I attempted to use an Egift card, for my order. The gentleman at the window said he didn't know how to do that, so he called over another person. The woman took one look at it and was adamant about not taking it. She was rude, and it became very clear to me, by her gestures, head-shaking, and no, uh-huh, this was not going to be used to pay for the meal. To top it all off, we did not receive what we ordered. I was already home with the order, and because of the attitude I had already received, there was no reason to return to get it corrected. I was already convinced the order would not be completed as edible food. I called the store and spoke to "one of the managers". While speaking to the manager, she was hollering in the background, she just mad she couldn't use the gift card. Ain't nothin wrong with her order. So on that note, I am finished with this Taco Bell. I told the "manager" he might want to educate his employees on proper customer service. I am sure he will get right on it. With this example of customer satisfaction, I am sure the employees here will have a promising and lasting career. Cheers to Taco Bell, Crestview. Show less

I went through the drive thru when I got home they had put all the items i had ordered on top of the Mexican pizza. It smashed the Mexican pizza. It literally look like throw up in a box. This store in whitehall mi has gotten so bad when I order a grilled cheese burritto its half the size when they first had come out with that particular item it was full of meat and it was packed with the items now I feel scamed every time I Go there to order a burritto. Less topping in the shell and smaller in size I spent over thirty dollars there today. I dont think I'll be back and I use to go there 2 to 3 time a week. It's gotten that bad.i wish I could show you a picture of the Mexican pizza. Im a mystery shopper and if I had to mystery shop that store today that store would of failed.

Google
All Taco bells should just be shut the down since they want to charge 20 to $25 for a taco 12 pack when it used to only be $10 and now a taco 12 pack specialty with sour cream and tomatoes is almost like $40 Taco Bell's just scamming and screwing all their customers over this should just be shut down. Overcharging for low quality food

Yelp
This review, posted at Taco Bell Headquarters in Irvine applies to all 7,817 stores in the US! I like Taco Bell tacos! They're light, crispy, fresh, and healthy. The ingredients cover the floorboards of most cars in America! Why, in the 61 years you've been in business, are you still teaching your franchisees to wrap tacos up SO THAT THEY LEAK, as shown in the picture? Even Jack-in-the-box has solved that problem. Gentlemen, I sincerely want to hear your logic. Scott scott@berglin.com

Yelp
This commentary concerns the Taco Bell app. Since my opinion of the app does not apply to any franchise location, it would be unfair to demote an individual's stores average "star" score. When they got started, the Taco Bell app was a standalone app on your mobile device. Taco Bell has updated the app and has copied a bad feature that others have (the McDonald's app, for instance): the app will not work unless it has access to your email. Taco Bell will say that they're just trying to customize offers to better serve you--but know that they're probably collecting a lot more personal information that you're aware. From my perspective: I understand that when you consider increasing input costs, Taco Bell has had to raise posted menu prices. While I still like to visit Taco Bell occasionally, the value proposition is diminishing. And this information collection effort is really off-putting.

Yelp
This is the headquarters of TacoBell. While my local TacoBell gets good grades, the headquarters do NOT. I've sent 3 emails to this place, requesting a response for a product that I was promised, but never received, without any response at all. The service is literally NONEXISTENT. How do chains continue with failing their customers like this? Whenever I've had issues with McDonald's, I always get some response, even if to let me know that my issues are being taken care of. I have no idea about the ambiance of this place, as my sole issues here have been to try to resolve an issue that their company/app failed to deliver. Follow through with what has been promised. It's not hard.

Yelp
Didn't believe that such rumors existed that an old taco bell stand was still around. Amazing, historical piece kept alive...and for that.. you get 5 stars...

Yelp
Have been trying all day by telephone and the sending of a request from the app on a cellphone for a link to be sent via an email so I can reset my password thus being able to order ahead. Must be the company doesn't want business!
