The Legacy of the Taco Bell Crunchwrap | Eater

"I see the Crunchwrap Supreme as a feat of texture and engineering: a large flour tortilla layered with seasoned beef, thick nacho cheese sauce, a crispy tostada shell, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and tangy sour cream, meticulously folded into its signature hexagonal shape and griddled so it holds together; the tostada shell both provides crunch and separates warm and cold elements. Debuting in 2005, the item has become one of Taco Bell’s most popular and commercially successful products (the chain sold more than 100 million Crunchwrap Supremes in 2024) and has spawned widespread home-cooking and social-media obsession, plus branded make-at-home kits and chef collaborations in 2024; while the name is trademarked and protected, the chain says it’s flattered by creative knockoffs. YouTube Mukbang Videos Predicted Our Current TikTok Moment | Eater

"In 2017 I noticed YouTubers like Trisha Paytas creating mukbang videos in which they told the camera about their day while eating pizza, chicken nuggets, and Taco Bell; this Americanized, more impromptu style often features fast food consumed in cars or after swinging through a drive‑thru, illustrating how creators turned familiar chain food into compelling, easily replicated content for viewers." - Amy McCarthy

Google
Quite literally the slowest Taco Bell in the entire state. We have been sitting here for close to 45 minutes only in line waiting to be able to make our order much less receive our food to corporate Taco Bell if you’re taking the time to be able to read and review these I would strongly suggest adding on more personnel to this specific establishment. This is absolutely atrocious in regards to their times and turnaround. I do not blame the people that work here. I blame corporate structure, not being able to give them the correct amount of personnel to adequately serve their clientele

Google
Literally would give this one a -100 if it was possible. I dont know whats up with the robot taking orders in the drive thru but its NOT efficient whatsoever. The line wasnt even that long and we sat in line for at least 20 minutes just to order. Once we got to order we realized why it took so long ….. theres a fricking robot taking orders!!! SERIOUSLY !!!! ????? And the stupid thing couldnt even get the order right on the screen 🙄🙄 never again …… and on top of that the burrito i got was supremely subpar. Its fine and whatever but if you have AI doing one of the jobs at least make the humans make the food right.

We stood inside for several minutes with absolutely nobody addressing us or acknowledging our existence. When I told my disabled daughter that nobody was going to help us and we would have to go elsewhere we were chucked at and still they had no regard for the fact that she struggled to understand that it was open, we were there and that nobody would help us. Very rude and unwelcoming atmosphere. We won't be back.

Google
Go to any other Taco Bell. The wait time is minimum half an hour. Your items will probably be wrong, and not sanitary. I had to walk in twice because the drive thru line was either wrapped around the building. The inside had 9 flies I could count, food all over the ground and dining area each table was disgusting. I will not be returning here until I hear in the news there is better management.

This location has been here as long as I have lived in Rochester- close to 25 years. They used to have a part of Pizza Hut inside and my children loved options of both. I don’t visit much since they lost the Pizza Hut franchise inside. The tacos have always been pretty consistent in how they are made and taste, until recently. Since about 2020, we rarely visit. The quality of the food has gone down significantly. The food is never hot. My order is missing things more times than not. We ordered tacos last time and there seriously was mostly just lettuce. A few shreds of cheese and maybe 2 teaspoons of meat- which is just a soy protein now. It doesn’t even taste like beef and it’s super rubbery. The cost has gone up but the quality down. I don’t know that we will be back. They did bring back the Mexican pizza which my family likes. They bring back the cheesy fries from time to time. Wish they would just keep some of the traditional items…..they would have more customers.

Google
They currently have the worst evening employees ever. I made an order on the app and waited in the drive thru for about 30 minutes (maybe more) once i got to the window the male employee told me to wait in the front parking lot and they'll come out with my order - lies. I waited for another 30 minutes so i personally had to call the store (because the lobby was closed) and told the female employee that i had been waiting for an hour for my order and she sounded so confused so i guess they forgot about my order but eventually said they'll bring it out. After the phone call I waited another 10 minutes for my order that still hadn't come so i asked one of the employees that was coming outside for his break about my order, he went back inside to check. He finally came out with my order.. but he initially forgot my drink. I'm very respectful and understandable if they're busy but over an hour wait for 3 items is ridiculous. 0/10 service would not recommend ordering from this location unless they replace the current night employees. The images below show the time i placed the order on the app to when they finally printed my order.

Google
Ordered food off the app and went to pick it up at the market place drive taco bell. Waited almost an hour in the drive through just to get food. Everytime I've gone there lately my order has been missing items and I'm waiting more than 25 minutes for my food. All the upgrades that I've done to my food, like adding extra toppings, haven't been added but was charged for it. Won't be going there again any time soon.

Google
The coworkers were nice and in a great mood but they took 30 minutes to give my order and had no sense of urgency at all the dining area bathroom all that was a mess and they had no sauces except Diablo domt go to this location go to any of the other three

Yelp
Went to the store 25 minutes before close and they didn't take my order I was at the intercoms and they're was no response

Sean D.

Yelp
It's your standard Taco Bell fair but their drive-thru is, by far, the slowest I've ever been through in my 50 years of life on this planet. It will take you up to 30 minutes to even get to the ordering menu and then maybe another 30 minutes after that. They will make you wait 5 to 10 minutes even while you're at the menu. Let's be honest, fast food is barely food so they have to acd the fast part and this place absolutely does not. I highly recommend you skip this place.

Kym C.

Yelp
I can't give 0 stars or I would. You would do better to drive to a different location and back. They aren't just slow they are PAINFULLY SLOW! They also made the melt wrong TWICE. It's three ingredients. I truly don't understand. Go somewhere else.

John K.

Yelp
Slowest service I ever experienced. 20 minutes to get my order. The workers couldn't move any slower unless they were dead.

Yelp
We have enjoyed the Mexican Pizzas since their return to the menu. In Friday 11/10 we ordered 2 Mexican Pizzas and a couple other items thru the Taco Bell app. We picked up inside the store and brought home. My wife took one bit and sad she couldn't eat the pizza as it had a metallic taste. I took one bite and it was evident the oil used to fry the tortillas was rancid or the tortillas were left out for an extended period of time and turned rancid. Both pizzas were inedible. I have since contacted Taco Bell through the app to file a complaint. I filed s complaint in 11/10 and again in 11/ 15. Taco Bell has sent a. "We're on it" and " you'll hear from us soon" reply, none of which has happened. I imagine there were others that ordered the pizzas or something similar that Friday evening who experienced the same disgust. Gilberto's has opened right down the road apiece. We'll be driving by Taco Bell to get what we paid for from the good folks at Gilberto's About Taco Bell? "Im on it" and "they'll hear from us soon" Save you money and head to Gilberto's for quality non rancid tasting Mexican fare

Chandler S.

Yelp
writing this in the drive thru because that's how slow these people are. seriously just go across town, it's faster.

Yelp
Get food and tacos fresh and hot and never mess up great work the good Is well cooked and the workers are nice one sad thing is that they need to clean there tables better

Yelp
It has been quite some time since I had personally visited a Taco Bell. But this night my children wanted it for dinner. We ate in, and needless to say I was beyond disappointed. To start, the place was a disaster. There was no place to sit as no tables had been cleaned off, and the floors matched the table tops. I understand the short staffing issue, but as we ate, I just watched 3 of the 5 employees working just standing around chatting verses trying to catch up from the rush (cleaning wise). We ordered the food and drinks on basically a giant iPad. There is no face to face ordering at all, which doesn't allow for ordering things for the kids (customized orders). I had asked about changes to the for the kids and was told "if it ain't on there, you can't do it". Whatever, pick it off type deal. I ordered a Steak Quesadilla and couldn't believe what I got. As you can see, the product is $4.89. There was sooooo little meat and cheese, it was worth maybe $.50. As well as the tacos, so little filling. Nothing was worth the cost at all. It's sad that things have got the way they are with increased cost and diminished product quality and quantity.

Yelp
I just had the worst Taco Bell experience ever. I can usually count on a #1 combo for a satisfying quick meal. Not today. The taco was fine. The burrito...not so much. Whatever they did, it was like burrito soup. I couldn't separate the wrapping paper from the tortilla! The half of the burrito I did eat was with a spoon while I gnawed on the tortilla, spitting pieces of paper out. I finally threw it away. My wife could hardly eat her meal...she was laughing so hard. I will not be back anytime soon.

Travis W.

Yelp
Look, it's Taco Bell. You know you're not getting Michelin rated food. They have good days and bad days depending on staffing so just check your food before you drive off and you'll be fine. Where they do short you is if you get food that requires a fork/spoon. They don't give them out in the drive-through unless you specifically ask for it. I guess it's their way of saving money.
google avatar

Tony N.

Yelp
I mean it's Taco Bell what do you expect? Sometime you might have to use the bathroom after you eat. Sometimes you don't. It's the luck of draw. I do like how they keep things "fresh" with different 5 dollar box ideas. Keeps things new and "fresh" but all jokes aside. You pay for what you get.

Yelp
All I can say is ORGASMIC!!! When that chicken chalupa hit my Gordita-Spot, I said "aye chihuahua!!" Chicken chalupa supreme with a side of hot sauce in my pants. I had sour cream dripping down my hairy chest. It was a spicy wet dream. Needless to say, I came again (and I'll keep coming every time) ...for the chicken chalupa supreme!!

Yelp
awful stupid, we went through drive through at 2am and got two orders then we also had a pick up order. They didn't let us get the pick up order at the window since we already had two orders. So we had to wait another 30 mins in the drive through for the pick up order.

Victoria L.

Yelp
As I arrive another person is pulling away as their order got taken. I'm waiting for about 10 minutes, periodically saying hello? to announce my presence. after being fed up with being ignored and about 5 cars pile up behind me i pull to the window. i'm met with a worker not doing anything while standing next to the register, as i tell him i had been waiting for 10 minutes to order, another employee walks up with an annoyed and snarky tone tells me i should have ordered at the intercom, and i tell her the same thing. she rolls her eyes at me (thinking i didn't notice) and tells me that if i want to order i can either pull around or come in. mind you i'm carrying a trailer behind me and like i mentioned before there were about 5 (probably more by than) cars that were behind me. when i called to let a manager know i was expecting an apology for her employees behavior but was greeted with utter silence as i was explaining the situation giving her space to say something in between and honestly thought i was hung up on with how quiet the other side of the phone was and only was told she'd talk with the employee and to have a good night with a prompt click of the phone. Will never be returning. Worst customer service I've experienced.

Victoria H.

Yelp
This Taco Bell is so slow and there are staff sitting around and the dining area is a mess! If they have time to lean, they have time to clean!!

Vicki S.

Yelp
If I'd wanted chip fragments, I would have ordered chip fragments. Overall, not terrible for a Taco Bell. They seem fastidious about COVID protocols and I generally get food that resembles what I ordered.

Yelp
This Taco Bell has horrible customer service and this is purely my opinion and experience. I went to Taco Bell on Tuesday 4/23/2019 between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. I went through the drive through. I asked for a number 8 which is 3 tacos (hard or soft shell your choice) and a soda. The lady taking my order didn't ask if I'd like hard or soft shell taco, she just promptly said "$6.15 pull ahead", which I did and then remembered she didn't ask what type of taco I'd like. While waiting in the drive through I got out $10.15. I get to the window to pick up my food and the lady says $6.15, she then takes my $10.15 and gives me my soda, then gives me change of $3.91. I said "excuse me, change should be $4.00 I gave you $10.15, a dime and a nickel." She tells me "NO! no you didn't you gave me $10.06. I said "No, I gave you $10.15." And I ask her at this time "how do you know what kind of taco's I want?" She responds loudly raising her voice with "you didn't specify when ordering so you get crunchy." At this point I tell her "give my $10.15 back and forget my order." She then YELLS for the manager. This gentleman by the name of Kevin comes to the window. Kevin gives me my $10.00 back, however he did keep / steal the $0.15 which should have been refunded to me. I did express to Kevin that the lady taking orders needs some customer service training of maybe just needs to be let go, she for sure needs a better attitude. This was a horrible experience and I will no longer be a customer of Taco Bell. I wish I would have read other customers reviews of this place, I NEVER would have stopped.

Yelp
After an 8 hr procedure at a local healthcare facility in Rochester, I was hoping to grab a simple supper meal at this Taco Bell, off 52. Ordered food for our family of three , to eat at home, 45 minutes away, so I wouldn't have to cook after this already stressful day. Order was botched, missing 1/3 of the order. I was disgusted and called the manager. I asked for a credit for the food I did not receive. Was told a gift card was all the man could offer. Explained I paid for something I did not get, therefor I am owed a credit and a gift card was not acceptable to me. Told him I would contact my credit card company and asked for his name. He said "you do that" and then hung up on me. Classy! Taco Bell now only hires the worst they can find I guess. When I worked at Taco Bell in Rochester downtown, in 1989......we had pride in our job at least & respect for the customer!

Yelp
Corporate has decided to eliminate human contact. The customer MUST order on the electronic option board -- NO EXCEPTIONS. I won't be eating at Taco Bell from now on...

Yelp
They were amazing and the food was great, they were out of apple enpinadas so they gave us something else for free, they were really friendly, place was clean and inviting, I love eating here.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible. Food is either over cooked or under cooked. Mold in the drink dispenser. Bathrooms are always filthy. Employees are rude. Save your money and don't go there

Yelp
I love Taco Bell and will eat here almost any chance I get! As a result over five years, I have been to this location possibly 30+ times. This place is located next to Noodles and Company and across from Target. Depending on how you're coming, the turn into the taco bell plaza can be challenging because of traffic. Also, the shared Noodles and Pi traffic in the lot can be annoying sometimes. If you use the drive up window, the line moves quite quickly usually. They have been reasonably accurate with my orders (~85-90%). Going inside, the location is very well kept and organized. The sauces are usually very neatly organized and the bathrooms are clean. There is plenty of table space to sit and a number of windows to entertain you as you run to the border. Overall, its taco bell / pizza hut so you know the food you're getting, but this place has the north side of town cornered and so its grand in my opinion!
google avatar

Sean D.

Yelp
I went there last night and it took nearly an hour to get through the line. We all know that Taco Bell is barely food so when you're in the fast-food business and you're barely food you better get the fast part done right. I know the other location in town is closed temporarily so move some of the staff from there to your location.
google avatar

Kristi S.

Yelp
Without this store, I'm not sure I would have been able to survive my first pregnancy. I was here ALL THE TIME. Very few times have I had problems with my orders. Food is hot and fresh. There is nothing special about the menu, i mean, this IS taco bell. The food is consistant and good. It is located close to Chipotle, but is a lot better tasting and cheaper. There is now healthier options. My sister recently ordered and substituted beans instead of meat for a vegetarian choice and it was no problem at all. I was amazed.
google avatar

Nicole H.

Yelp
This Taco Bell always has issues. The only thing consistent with them is that they are inconsistent. No matter how simple, they always get my order incorrect. The nachos bell grande I received tonight was missing the tomatoes and sour cream. One time I received someone else's order. Many times it takes longer to go through the drive through than to just run inside and order for take out. If you go, check that your order is correct before you drive off with it.
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
The food is as expected but the drive through wait times can be long. Last time I went I waited for 20 minutes with 4 cars ahead of me. It's faster to hop out of your car and go inside.

Narnar P.

Yelp
The customer service and food at this Taco Bell was terrible (stale tasting, lacking in flavor and burrito filling) and most of the tables were not clean and nobody was cleaning any of the tables the entire hour I was there. People had to sit at dirty tables. I will never go back!!

Jarod R.

Yelp
I ordered chips and cheese extra. NOT INCLUDED with my meal. But paid for separate. They gave me cheese but no chips.

Melo S.

Yelp
During this pandemic, the drive thru on the NW side of Rochester, Minnesota is handing out drinks/freezes in a communal bin that is distributed into every single customers vehicle to retrieve their drinks, possibly contaminating every person retrieving drinks and or food from their business. I rarely go to Taco Bell's, and upon driving up I was in complete shock. I couldn't believe that Taco Bell would approve of this type of exposure. I asked the male employee working how often these restaurant bins are cleaned, he responded "every night". Then I asked him if they are cleaned/sanitized after every time they are handed handed into a customers vehicle, and then his answer quickly changed. If this is not investigated there will be social coverage. Thank you, and I hope you all stay safe.

Yelp
My fiancé and I decided to have an overly indulgent late night taco bell snack, and Amber at the drive through was absolutely so kind! I am rating this on her service and because I love taco bell.
google avatar

Jordan D.

Yelp
Very unimpressed. I ordered the grilled stuff steak burrito and got a grilled burrito with maybe two small pieces of steak and otherwise all beans, rice and tortilla. My wife ordered the crunch wrap supreme and it was a Supreme failure. Again, mostly tortilla and quickly assembled. It was really thin and floppy.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
This Taco Bell is pretty average! The service is great, and it is attached to a Pizza Hut which makes my excursions into unhealthy eating that much more enjoyable. My friends come here all the time when they need a quick lunch because being right off Highway 52, it is easy to get to.
google avatar

Dan H.

Yelp
Last 10 visits have been horrible wait times through drive thru. 22 minute average with a long of 35 minutes waiting in line with multiple cars not waiting and driving off. Food not hot. Kind apologies each and every time from window person.
google avatar

Dave A.

Yelp
As good as Taco Bell gets, which is acceptable fast "Mexican" food. I was not impressed with the Dorrito shell tacos. They didn't taste any different than the plain taco shells. Pretty much everything on the menu tastes the same, and I tend to add salt and Tabasco sauce when I eat it at home because it is pretty bland. But, you get consistency, fast service, and okay food at a reasonable price.

Kodi T.

Yelp
Management needs to change. 20 some year old acting like kids. Messed up my order twice in a row. Had to whip down are own table

Olivia S.

Yelp
I haven't had Taco Bell for a few years. I usually make my own tacos but didn't feel like cooking tonight and was in the mood for tacos. The food was fast to order and my order was correct. The tacos were good as well.
google avatar

Teresa G.

Yelp
It's good if you're in a fix.. Went thru the drive thru. Asked for light on the jalapeño sauce.. Still too hot!

Matthew M.

Yelp
I have been coming to this Taco Bell for years and never had any issues. The last five times I've come here I've had big issues. Long drive thru waits have become a staple of my visits. Last time, the guy behind me drove off because we waited for what felt like forever. Food would be cold even though food in the same order tasted fresh. One time, I got a refund on my order because they forgot to cook beans and it would take 30 min to cook. The crew working around 0900 need to have some more customer service training. One time, the cashier forgot to put my online order through, so although I was already waiting for a few minutes, my food wasn't started yet. Another time, I was waiting at the window with my credit card in hand while my food and drink were ready at the counter, the cashier was stocking cups. I gave them five shots but each time I drove away upset. Even though Taco Bell is my favorite fast food place, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Dave W.

Yelp
I stopped by to get a quick meal to take home for my kids. It took at least ten minutes for the food to get to the counter to be picked up (this was an improvement over the last few months when multiple visits it has over thirty minutes to get the food after waiting in line for anywhere from 10-15 minutes.) I did have special orders, but nothing too complicated, three regular tacos with nothing but meat, and a cravings box with no tomatoes. The cashier understood the order. When I finally got the food, I checked it because this location has a habit of getting things wrong. Good thing I did. The tacos had lettuce and cheese on them when it was supposed to be plain. They did fix it quickly and accurately when I approached them about it. I checked the cravings box, and it looked right as I did not see any tomatoes. I get the food home, give it to my son, and he asks what is supposed to be on a 5 layer burrito turned out to be bean and cheese burriton. In addition he said the taco on the gordita is very stale. When my wife was fixing one bowl of pintos and cheese she found out it had no cheese, and we found out none of them had cheese. I am writing this review publically because I have done the on-line survey before, and nothing seems to change. And, as far as I can remember I did put down I would not mind being contacted, and no one has made an effort to contact me. We do not go to Taco Bell as much as we would because of the service at this location, and we are not going to drive another five miles to get to the next closest location. I am reading some of the other reviews on the side, and I am nodding to myself because many of the complaints are the same ones I have personally experienced (length of time to order/get food, wrong orders, not made correctly, etc.

Stan W.

Yelp
This location does a great job. It is always busy...but the food comes out quick! It is in a convenient location and there is a Pizza Hut there too...so it offers a variety of options!
