"Taco Ranch, the fast-casual taco drive-thru from Austin’s favorite burger chain P. Terry’s, opened its second location near campus last week. Along with the usual tacos and Tex-Mex dishes, special to the 517 West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard restaurant is the Mexican vanilla ice cream and cinnamon milkshake." - Nadia Chaudhury

It's tough to be hard on Taco Cabana, it really does deliver as advertised. However, even though it is a good value there are just too many great Mexican Food options in Austin to give more than 3 stars. The food is decent, not great. The selection is decent, not great. The ambiance is decent, not great. You won't be disappointed, but you won't be impressed.

Terrible Service and Food! I ordered enchiladas, which are generally pretty consistent at Taco Cabana, however these were terrible!! Looks like they threw two corn tortillas in a microwave with minimal cheese, poured watery enchilade sauce on them, and then didn't even bother to melt the cheese on top!! I returned it the first time but the second plate wasn't any better. I'm not sure what their goal is at this establishment but I'm sure it's not competing with other places around them. If I were the manager at this location, I would FIRE them all and start off with people that care about the quality of food they are providing.

This location is the worst. I get that being on MLK and Guad isn't easy. But we've seen successful, efficient execution on the drag and this place doesn't have it. But it is by far the slowest, least helpful, most poorly coordinated place on earth. It took me 30 minutes on a calm Friday morning to get 4 tacos. Some poor girl waiting for an interview for 30 minutes, and a fellow next to me ordered something and was told after he ordered that they were out and he'd have to get something else. Amiable and friendly? Maybe. Efficient and cost effective? No.

Me and my girlfriend went there expecting the usual taco Cabana atmosphere. Never been to this location so was just sight seeing we travel and love Taco Cabana, but not this MLK location. Service was horrible, waitress was scratching herself and lifting up her t-shirt showing her stomach, the manager's used the bathroom and did not wash hands. There was trash all over the place and on the tables. Food all on the floor and we asked for our money back drank our margaritas and ended up at Roppolo's Pizzeria instead. Don't waste your time or your money here. Gross.

Taco Cabana is a pretty good fast food Mexican joint, but it really can't compete with the authentic, delicious competitors in Austin. Compared to other fast food Mexican places, like Taco Bell and Del Taco, I'd say Taco Cabana wins. They have good food for a great value. The ingredients are fresh and the quality of the meat is good too. The steak and brisket tacos are very tasty. Taco Cabana also has a nice salsa bar with different spices levels, jalapenos, onions, and cilantro to add to your dishes. Fast, fresh, and tasty if you're in the mood for fast food.

I have been going to taco cabana for the last 2 years I have lived here in Austin. I have to say today was by far my worst experience at the restaurant. I stopped at the location on MLK blvd. I ordered 3 breakfast tacos. Eggs, Bacon, and Cheese. I paid for extra cheese. I sat down waited for my food. It took over 15 min to get my food in fact 2 other customers that ordered 6 min after me were already eating their food. When I got my food it was cold not even warm. I brought my food to one of the ladies working and told her it was cold. She garbed it from me and rolled her eyes. They pit it in the microwave and brought it back to me. To make things worse there was very little Bacon and very little cheese even after me paying for extra cheese. I had a job to be at so I didn't have time to wait for them to fix it. I just threw it away and left. I have had good experiences at all other locations but this one was horrible. Don't go to the MLK blvd location you will be very disappointed. They really need to fix this situation.

I have been here during normal breakfast hours and was told my tacos couldn't be made and I would have to wait 30 minutes because someone called in an order over the phone. Isn't the customer in front of you your immediate priority? I have also been here in the past when the a.c. was out for over three weeks. They need some tlc in regards to how they manage their facility and staff.

Service was good food was really bad. The tea tasted sour. The food was prepared with very little attention to quality. Some of the flautas were undercooked. The tomato in my tacos were slimy and tasted weird. Have only ate at this taco cabana and the one in wells branch by Pflugerville and that location always serves good food, this downtown location was really bad.
