Santa Maria Madre de Dios! In other words, HOLY MOLY! No wonder this place is called Taco Fuego, the food is literally hot like fire, but is it delicious? Lets find out!
We pulled up into the location parked by the famous food truck park by the Galleria. This was late on a Friday, so there were tons of people in the area. One of the neat features about this truck, is that its open late (at least over the weekend). So you have the privilege to burn your tongue after 3am on a Friday.
They have a neat menu with tons of options. Burritos, tamales, mini tacos, ramen, burgers, empanadas, goodness...this little truck makes its all.
We were in a Birria mood, so decided to get the Birria Burrito, Birria Ramen, and a side of Consome to dip the burrito. All this came up to about 32 bucks, so this spot IS NOT CHEAP. Very pricey, guess you are paying Galleria prices.
The service was descent, not stellar, but descent. Speed was the main thing that stood out to us. In about 5 minutes we had our food (most of the other trucks parked here, take about 10 to 15 minutes to get your food ready), so Taco Fuego gets props for the speed.
Portion sizes were good as well, the burrito was big, and we also got a good helping of ramen and consume.
Now lets get to the pain and suffering. This food was INCREDIBLY SPICY. I get that Fuego is in the name, but we didn't realize that the taste would be unsufferable. We can handle minimum spicey, but this level of spicey wasn't even enjoyable, it was pure atomic pain.
It would have been helpful to know that all the food is made to taste like hot fire beforehand, maybe we would have asked to limit some of that. Due to this reason, we really didn't get to enjoy the food at all.
You look at the food, and its burnt red. Birria isn't meant to taste like the atom bomb, so this was a huge bummer.
Would not come back, but if you're a fan of burning your tongue, to wake yourself up after a long night out, Taco Fuego is for you.
