"Taco Joint - restaurant or River North outpost of an upscale Señor Frogs? There’s definitely a little bit of both going on here. We’re not saying the food at Taco Joint is on the same level as Señor Frogs - that's a high bar to meet. But neither place is getting crowned the next great Mexican restaurant anytime soon. At $3 to $4 apiece, the tacos at Taco Joint are fairly cheap, and we concede this is one of the only places in River North where you can get a casual sit down meal at a reasonable price. But we aren’t willing to concede it’s a good idea unless for some reason you're stuck in this neighborhood. There’s a reason Taco Joint seems to be a haven for people capitalizing on Groupon and Gilt City vouchers - you need some extra enticement to get in the door. The space is big and warehouse-like with a few brightly painted walls and a whole lot of different tequilas on the shelves. And it’s these factors that give it the Señor Frogs vibes, minus the part where Señor Frogs actually starts to get fun. That’s because Taco Joint perpetually feels like 7:30 pm at everybody’s favorite Bahamas spot - the day party is over, the night party hasn’t begun, and you’re sipping on margaritas patiently waiting for things to pop off. But there will be no popping off happening here, because you’re past your glory days and the limbo is a horrible idea. If you need a spot to load up on average food and margaritas with your friends on the River North cheap, then sure, by default this is your spot. Just don't expect much more than that. And certainly don't expect to recreate that one awesome dinner you had on high school spring break, because no night out will ever be that enjoyable again. Food Rundown Al Pastor Taco Marinated grilled chicken with tomatillo salsa, onion, cilantro, and caramelized pineapple. We’re not really into the al pastor chicken thing, and overall this taco is subpar. (I would point out here that al pastor is usually pork and chicken al pastor sounds awful) Ceviche Taco Cured scallops, lemon-serrano vinaigrette, avocado, cucumber, and pico de gallo. All the ingredients of ceviche are there, but the parts don't come together very well. Not a fan of this taco. Cochinita Taco Pulled pork with habanero salsa and pickled red onions. The bit of spice from the habanero’s gives it some good heat and flavor, but the meat itself still tastes dry even with the sauce. Baja Taco Generic beer battered tilapia with a chile coleslaw. Not the worst, but also not particularly good. Steak Monterrey Taco Grilled sirloin with onions and blistered serrano peppers. It’s a single piece of sirloin on a flour tortilla with some veggies. Your safest bet. Rice ‘N Beans The green poblano rice has a bit of a kick, but the chipotle black beans taste like they’ve been sitting around all day. Pass." - Sam Faye

My husband got beef birria tacos which he said were pretty good; tender, juicy, and well seasoned. He really enjoyed the accompanying dip as well.

Saw a review on social media, and decided to give them a try. Had the QuesadillaBirria tacos. Excellent! Lots of cheese, flavorful beef. The hot sauce on the side was great. I'll definitely be back again. Hats off to the young woman who took the time to explain the menu and the dish.

Google
Found this stand in a cute little food court and thought I’d give it a try. Overall the food was good but was a little lacking in flavor. I got the al pastor bowl and a side of chips and salsa. Presentation was great. All the side items that came with the bowl was good and flavorful. Al pastor meat was seasoned well and tasted great! The only issue I had was with the white rice. I understand that white rice is bland but maybe add some lime zest or seasoning to it so it could bring more flavor to the bowl? Chips were delicious, but the salsa was a little on the sweet side for me. Overall the food was good and will definitely give it another try! Would recommend if you’re in the area!

I had a bit of a difficulty finding this place. I've been to the restaurant upstairs several years ago but never down here. I saw the sign and went in and walked around twice before I found it. Yes, I am getting old. Common Kitchen. Like the name says, the kitchen is in the middle and there are stalls that surround it. I don't think they really share the kitchen as each stall seems to have all they need in their space. I imagine they do some intermingling so it would be correct to call it common kitchen. Now the Taco Joint. Since this was my first time here, I had no clue what to do. Andre was very friendly and helpful with my tacos. He was later joined by Cooper. Spent more time talking to the young men than taking photos but here are a couple. I tried a little bit of all the tacos and honestly, they were all good. Took some home to the wife and daughter and they both loved it. I am going to go back and try some other dishes they serve as well. This Common Kitchen has a bit of everything so everyone can get what they want. I hear talk about how the young people do not want to work and how the future is in trouble. I beg to differ. I can truly say the kids are doing fine. They may not do things the way we did but they are having fun and learning and growing. This is the story of all of us coming of age.

Google
Customer service was great , I believe we met the owner - love supporting small business . We had 2 birria ramen and the choco flan . The birria is good - good flavor and when the hot sauce and lime in - flavorful and delicious. The choco flan is good not crazy sweet but do wish the cake was more moist - but it’s cake so to be expected. I will definitely come back again .

Google
I’m a strong flavors person. That means lots of spices and balances seasoning (that’s an art by the way), so those tacos hit the spot for me. The mushroom and caramelized onions taco was a dream, yummm. I truly enjoyed it. The black bean taco had been a favorite the very first time I got it and I haven’t stopped since then. The freshly cut onions and herbs just adds so much texture and aroma. Overall, those tacos were absolute perfection! Keep up the good work Taco Joint. I’ll be back for more.

Google
I had the best tacos, guacamole chips and my first ramen birria - and the rice pudding?!?! Amazing flavors! My new favorite taco joint lol

Google
I love this place very much! the tacos are so good and delicious. My favorite taco are Al Pastor and Carnitas. Also Don't forget to get the chips and Guac, which is a good addition to your meal. The staff are also very friendly and they are always ready to answer any questions.

Yelp
I don't do reviews often or enough but after one bite I had to post this. This food has some serious 3 Ps. Good Portion Good Price And Good presentation. To add to this the food taste is on the money. This was fast and was ready in 10min. Since it's in a food hall it's quick and convenient. The ambiance is best for grab and go. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
The food trucks have returned as part of the Thursday farmer's market and art fair. This is the first time Taco Joint has been available, and wow. My rule for the south-of-the-US border food is that the salsa be good (it was amazing). 1. The tacos were amazing. I love the soft corn tortillas! 2. The line for the truck was huge. The meat was perfectly prepared (we had the Chicken and Steak tacos). They come neatly in a small container. They are eat while you are walking around food. All-in-all so happy to have a Taco Truck available at the Farmer's Market. Now the only missing cuisine I love from food trucks is Asian!!!!!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this food court by accident and it didn't do anything to disappoint. The Taco Joint was delicious. There's something in this spot for everyone. I can't wait to come back and try different food spots within this food court. The service was good. It's a food court so no special look but great for good eats and a quick bite eat-in or carry-out.

Yelp
Upbeat friendly and flavor in the air as soon as you come to the counter! Ordering was quick and easy! Our hostess made sure we had everything we needed and confirmed our order with a realistic wait time. My wife ordered 3 steak tacos with hot dipping sauce and I ordered the birria tacos. I prefer the hot dipping sauce with my tacos than the broth. My only feedback would be a thicker sauce option for birria broth. Otherwise packed with flavor cheese meat and pure awesomeness! I will be back for sure! This place is kept in a small market with table top seating inside and table seating outside! Music playing and a plenty of shade from the sun!

Becky H.

Yelp
I reviewed this for a Yelp Elite Experience ... doesn't everyone get to see those? I mean, I can copy|paste it here if need be. Short version: awesome place. Awesome people. Awesome food. Go.

Anna S.

Yelp
This is a newer stall in the Common Kitchen building that offers pretty straightforward tacos and quesadillas. I ordered some tacos while my friend got a quesadilla. The food came out pretty quickly and the service was friendly enough. I don't know if this has changed since I visited, but it could be cool to see a "build your own" taco option created. Most of the tacos came with predetermined toppings from what I remembered - although I'm sure you can make adjustments if preferred. The flavors of the ingredients and the meat were really good! The chicken tacos were well seasoned although, I do wish they had some sauce on top to help make them a little less dry. I did get some salsa on the side which I generously added to the tacos. All in all, a pretty straightforward spot for some yummy tacos! You can't go wrong.

Misti M.

Yelp
It was my first time in the food hall and what a treat! The staff at Taco Joint were so friendly, it was like stepping into a friend's house for dinner! We purchased some chips and salsa and they were a perfect snack as we enjoyed the outdoor tables and the event that was going on in the grassy area. I'll 100% be back to Taco Joint when I find myself in that part of MD again!

Sierra S.

Yelp
There seems to be a good rotation of local restaurants within Clarksville Common kitchen, and once I spied the Taco Joint, I had to check it out. We ordered Mexican street corn, carnitas tacos, chicken quesadilla, and two cans of Ginger Ale. The total was about $32, which I thought was relatively high for tacos but the service made up for it. I love Mexican street corn, so I was bummed that it was served in a bowl. "J" couldn't stop commenting on how full of flavor the tacos were, and I enjoyed my chicken quesadilla. Do stop by and check out the Taco Joint and support our local businesses.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Our second time at Common Kitchen, but our first time trying Taco Joint. The food came out quickly and I thought was well done. The chicken tacos had nice flavor and were tender. The steak was a little over cooked and hard to eat, but the Al pastor were the best of the bunch! We'd definitely try again!

Kate C.

Yelp
First there was a hair in my mushroom taco so I can't provide you a review of that one since it went right it the trash. Most people would have stopped there, but for some reason I kept going. The carnitas were waaay too soupy and almost bbq flavored for me. I know some people like that but I prefer carnitas with a better seasoning where the pork really shines. The alpastor was ok but I would not return for it. The chips we got were stale and the guacamole was a weird color. My husband said the steak tacos were flavorless. Also the common market feels dirty these days. Tables are not regularly cleaned and the trash stations were a mess. I doubt I'll be back to any stall there as this experience was off putting. Much better taco options close by.

Guy B.

Yelp
Customer Service was outstanding Food was delicious I wish I could remember my servers name because she cheerful helpful and I can't say enough about what a great experience it was

Vi L.

Yelp
Nice to have a new place to go to in Common Kitchen! Elote - very good and yummy! Probably better to eat it there than to get as take out (bc it's wrapped in foil). Chips and guac - tasty fresh chips and decent guacamole (could have some more spices perhaps), but it doesn't come with very much for how much it costs. Veggie taco - black beans, guac, diced white onions, cilantro - was okay but I think I would have preferred a different filling than beans to make it less heavy and more flavorful. Chicken taco - pretty standard with grilled chicken, white onions, cilantro. I wish the chicken was juicier and had a little more flavor. Didn't try them but my partner got al pastor tacos and thought they were pretty dry and lacked flavor. In my opinion, the tacos were okay, but not something I'd seek out again anytime soon. I think there is room for improvement, which I hope there will be since the place is so new! I would come back for the elote. Right now, I would rate Taco Joint a 3-3.5/5, and hope that number goes up over time.

Ravon H.

Yelp
Chicken quesadilla was delicious. And the Taco platter with 3 tacos was also great. I would recommend the Al pastor tacos. It's Located inside of a Clarksville commons so plenty of parking in the shared lot. It happened to be a event going on with local vendors and a live band so there was some live music as a plus. They are a small stand with only two people working at the time I went. They were surprisingly fast with their service. They have a limited menu with tacos, quesadillas, and bowls. Overall a great place to grab lunch. 11 dollar for a quesadilla and tacos run about 4 dollars each.

Andy L.

Yelp
I had got the chance to visit this restaurant through a Yelp Elite event and was excited to try the their tacos! The restaurant was in a cute food court plaza with a bunch of other unique cuisine restaurants. I had chosen the beef and carnita tacos and put all the toppings for both of them. I loved that there were plenty of toppings to choose from. Not many other taco places give you the opportunity to add toppings to the tacos at all, so this made it really unique and different from a traditional taco restaurant. The tacos were amazing and I loved the spicy sauce I got on the side with it! There was so much flavor to the meat as well as the toppings added to give it that extra taste. I would definitely recommend trying this place if you in the mood for tacos and want an interesting twist to the cuisine!

Steph W.

Yelp
Such a cute place to stumble upon! Thank you yelp elite to introducing this place. Taco tasted amazing and authentic. Certain toppings are complimentary which is decent enough. They also have other selections that I can't wait to try. There's also other stores around which is nice to have variety. The food hall is easy to find, good parking and great selection! I can't wait to go back!

Alexandra M.

Yelp
First time here and I'm already obsessed. Taco Joint has a limited ingredients, but everything is SO fresh and authentic. The chorizo is so juicy and flavorful, and I will gladly get that every time I come back. My daughter loves their carnitas, which to me I found a little dry on their own, but perfect with some lime juice and the pineapple sauce! The gal that was working there (I forgot her name) was so sweet and nice and helped with allergy information. My husband loved his chicken quesadilla. Prices are pretty good too! My daughter and I both ordered 3 tacos for $12 each, and my husband got the quesadilla, and it was only $36 for all 3 of us to have a really yummy dinner! We'll be coming back.

Arsham M.

Yelp
Mmm, tacos! Well they have bowls and quesadillas too... but the tacos... yes! It's the combination of flavors that makes them amazing. Each ingredient is delicious on its own... the chicken is tender and flavorful, the salsa, pico, and guacamole are fresh and tasty, and the red cabbage and cilantro/onion mix is a perfect touch as well. Not only is the food great, the service is quick and kind. I especially enjoy when Olivia is working - she's fun, quick, and makes the best tacos (see pics). The owner has this place and the empanada place within the same Common Kitchen... and she's a sweetheart too. If you don't know "The Commons" in Clarksville - I recommend checking it out. There are ~8 food vendors in one building and then a couple more outside... plenty of options - something for everyone.

Clairellen M.

Yelp
Terrific guacamole and homemade chips! Their menu is interesting and extensive. Try Taco Joint in Clarksville - I think you'll have a new favorite for quick takeout or delivery!

Lina K.

Yelp
Today was the first time at the Taco Joint at the Common Kitchen. I ordered 3 beef steak tacos on corn tortillas with cilantro onion mix and pico de gallo. It was bit dry so could've used some sauce. The tortillas were soft and tasty but the "beef steak" was not good. It was too chewy, tough, dry and no flavor... not sure what cut of beef were used. I'm willing to try another item on the menu but will not reorder beef steak tacos again.

Alondra R.

Yelp
I'm here visiting my sister and we came across this place we got "Birria Ramen" and let me just say the quality of the food and taste was amazing ! Fernando is the gentleman that helped us and his whole demeanor and personality was the absolute best ! We also got the "Choco flan" and it was very delicious! When I come back to visit, definitely going back to this place for sure ! yall should definitely give this place a try !

John B.

Yelp
Excellent tacos. I tried the steak, chicken and chorizo tacos. They were all excellent. I will be back soon

Lisa F.

Yelp
I was disappointed with the Taco Joint. It was my first time there and I wasn't impressed. The staff were too busy chatting amongst themselves and others to want to answer my questions. I ordered the three tacos and they were barely warm. The taco shells were cold. Not even lukewarm. The proteins (chicken, steak, and al pastor) were dry. The added toppings really did nothing to help the dryness or flavoring. To pay $12 for three dry and cold tacos was a waste.

Minnie J.

Yelp
Came to Taco Joint as part of a Yelp Elite experience and enjoyed the food! The ingredients tasted fresh (my fav was the corn!) and the meats were well seasoned although a little dry. The double corn tortilla was also excellent. Had great service and loved the little takeout box they put the tacos in (see pic) - the perfect size! This joint is a stall in a larger food hall so it's really fun to walk around and explore the other stalls while you're waiting. There's also covered outdoor seating just outside to enjoy your food.

Jonathan K.

Yelp
Lots of toppings to go with the traditional tacos and the birria tacos tasted great. They were unfortunately out of the mushroom tacos when we came but the workers/host were all really nice and accommodating.

Katlyn E.

Yelp
Part of the Common Kitchen. Service was friendly. Tried 3 tacos to sample, al pastor, chicken, beef. I think overall they were unfortunately dry and needed more flavor. Would try the guac next time.

Tanya H.

Yelp
Hands down delicious and definitely my new go to place for taco's!!!! I had the veggie taco's with chips & salsa. The veggie tacos came with black beans, guacamole onions & cilantro.

Angelica T.

Yelp
This Birria tacos are amazing the most flavorful broth I have in the area highly recommended the salsa is so tasting it blends so well within the conbinatoon of the dish. Staff supper friendly and efficient. Taco Joint has now a new owner and is coming up with new food menu soon

Adeeb M.

Yelp
I went there yesterday and saw the finest woman I have ever seen working the counter! 10/10 would recommend going here again. Food was pretty good too I guess.

Jenny X.

Yelp
Ordered some tacos and quesadilla and it was OK. Definitely more Americanized than authentic tacos.

Carol T.

Yelp
The prices are outrageous. They charge $12 for a small quesadilla with no sides of rice or beans. The guac is seven dollars so a meal for one would be $22 quesadilla 12 guac seven Diet Coke three. No thanks!

Amir H.

Yelp
Awesome tacos and fresh guacamole! Very fast and nice costumer service too! I'll definitely go back . Also the owner JC was super friendly.

Patricia M.

Yelp
I had the steak bowl it was amazing ready to come back next weekend the green sauce is my favorite

Sheri H.

Yelp
Avoid this overpriced and nasty food at all costs. The portions are micro, and the meat isn't seasoned AT all. The tacos were so dry, we couldn't eat them. We ordered 2 batches of chips and salsa and they literally gave a 2 Oz plastic cup of pico...enough for 3 chips. 9 micro dry street tacos, a bag of chips with no salsa, and 2 drinks later, 48 dollars. I will NEVER BE back. Going to El Azteca to actually eat now.

Kari A.

Yelp
l loved the tacos and elote that I had for lunch so much, I got them again for my family for dinner the same day. They loved them too. Between the two orders, i think we had almost everything on the menu, and everything was tasty. I had the the pollo asada and al pastor tacos and both were great. I appreciate the authenticity of these tacos and toppings - just cilantro and onions, along with hot sauce if you want to add. The elote was delicious, too. The hot sauce packs a punch, even for these spice lovers. It's nice to have another option in Clarksville. All of the vendors in Common Kitchen are great and it's such a wonderful addition to the community.

Cloe B.

Yelp
Amazing food. The Veggie Tacos and Chicken Tacos were some of the best ever. Loved the Elote and the guac was very fresh. Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely be back.
