"Join the early morning crew of hospital staff getting off their shifts and tradesmen just beginning their day by ordering a brisket taco on a pillowy flour tortilla. Dress it up at the salsa bar with what is perhaps the city’s best jalapeño ranch. Don’t skip the migas taco featuring onions, tomatoes, tortilla strips, and serrano peppers." - Henry James Ferry

"Quarantine has brought with it the ability to order alcohol by the jug, and neighborhood haunt Taco Joint jumped right into that bandwagon. Rocks or frozen, grab 18 oz. of margaritas for $9.95 or a 1/2 gallon for $36.50. Pair them with a couple of Lester tacos, which feature a crispy beef taco wrapped in refried beans and a flour tortilla. Order online via Taco Joint’s website." - Rachel Pinn

Google
This is my favorite breakfast taco place in Dallas. I always get the sausage egg and cheese. The sauces are great too. The dog friendly patio is a big plus! Highly recommend. Full disclosure - I literally have never tried anything besides the sausage egg and cheese taco because it’s that good. The queso is also good.

What I expect from Tex Mex, standard flavours, nothing unexpected. I ordered the Picoso Burrito Plate with shrimp as my meat for $3.99 extra. The shrimp were nicely done, not over-cooked which was great and sautéed with onions and peppers, wrapped in a tortilla and smothered with some spicy queso. I asked for hot sauce. Sadly, neither the red salsa or green tomatillo sauce were spicy and the white sauce just tasted like ranch. Served with choice of black or refried beans, rice and a drink, it was a good meal for the price and all ingredients appeared fresh. Service at the bar was friendly and all my questions about the menu were answered.

It's one of my favorite places in Dallas ❤️ the smell alone gets me every time. I haven't been there in a while, but I passed by about a week ago, and it still has that charm I remember. I always get the chicken quesodilla WITH ALL THE FIXINGS 🤤 also a wonderful atmosphere, staff, and music. And they have an amazing mural on the wall of fair park 🥰 and if you look closely, you can tell they put a lot of time into it ❤️ definitely my go-to if I'm ever close by.

Google
Quick and affordable. Rack up points fast enough I get a free meal each week. When you only got 30 minutes for a lunch break, they only take about five minutes to make it. I pick it up eat lunch and go back to work always have my order ready and hot. Customer Service is great. The girl bar is always so wonderful.

Google
This place has ice cold draft beer in Miller, Tupps brewery, Dos Equis, and Pacifico. The burritos and tacos were very delicious! Taco Joint supports the Lakewood community and it shows. Come and eat here as soon as you can. Highly recommend 👌!!

Google
The food was horrible. The spicy pork and barbacoa where way too sweet. I'm talking candy level of sweetness. Half of the pork taco was tomatoes. It overwhelmed any favor that might have been there. The beans and potatoes had 0 seasoning. We literally gave up after a few bites. My wife said it made taco bell seem gourmet.

Google
It baffles me how this location has as high of a rating it does. Below are frustrations I had with the restaurant. - Absolutely ZERO seasoning on both types of street tacos, beyond this the actual meat quality was not good or appetizing. I genuinely cannot believe how absolutely horrific it was. This is not a "I could have done better," it's that I don't think I could have done worse without intentionally sabotaging myself. - tortillas as soggy/oily despite the meat not causing the moisture, nor a sauce. - inside is kind of beaten/run down and not appetizing - prices are somewhat high, and extremely high for what you actually get - queso is subpar There are so many other options for better tacos and texmex. I have never had a taco as bad as their street tacos in my entire life.

Google
Although the place seems a bit dingy, they offer fair prices and fast service. The food is great, and the jalapeño ranch is definitely worth trying.

Yelp
I like this place, the manager is sexy. The Tacos are good this place is an after Sunday church service mad house so be warned

Yelp
After a long morning of challenging meetings & starving, I thought I order online and skip the take out wait. This was my first online order at taco joint, I typically order onsite. Anyhow, I ordered the 3 crispy taco combo. Pickup was fast and when I got home, I saw the tacos had only meat and cheese. No veggies. I thought about it and realized, that when ordering online I must of forgotten to select the veggies??? WTH! Typically, customers ask to omit or add things. I was ready to cry. I don't recommend ordering on website, it doesn't make sense. Imagine if I didn't select meat, would they had given me only the crispy taco shells? This place has pretty decent crispy tacos, hence the 3 stars but the online order experience was awful. I think, the place should've repeated the order to me at pickup because the order was a bit non-typical. I could've assembled this simple naked taco at home and save money + tip. I'm super disappointed. I don't think I'll go back for a while. This combo costed ~$15.

Yelp
Love the Taco Joint I frequently go to the Peak location this was my first time going to Lakewood and I will say I requested extra steak and didn't get it but was charge. May try again on a less busy day

Yelp
When I visit my family in Dallas we always have a taco night. Because...Texas! This is a good spot for that. They have tasty $7 margs and a delicious selection of tacos. This night I ordered the pork taco and the street taco with chicken. They were both delicious. They are amply stuffed with really good meat and one can find a variety of hot sauces and crema for toppings. The salsa is delicious and the chip basket is self-filled as many times as one would like. Taco Joint is a solid place for Tex-Mex!

Marilyn C.

Yelp
I've ordered from this restaurant twice in the past week, and while the food is good, I've had an issue with the churros both times. The Uber Eats description clearly states I should receive 8 churros, but I've only gotten 4 each time. This time, I called to speak with the manager and was told it's a known issue that has caused confusion for other customers as well. The fact that this hasn't been corrected on their menu shows a lack of attention to customer service. No matter how good the food is, customer service is crucial, and such a simple fix should be made promptly to avoid further confusion.

Paula C.

Yelp
I've been here like a hundred times. The food is consistent. Delicious and reasonably priced. Nachos and tacos are all good. Points on their jalapeño ranch dressing. It's always full of people.

Linda C.

Yelp
I like the casual atmosphere and food. However, it is overrun by young families and children. I am a retired educator, grandmother, and a kid person, but we could not have a conversation because the kiddos were so loud. Takeout is a good choice for this restaurant.

Chelsea O.

Yelp
Great little spot for fast casual Mexican food. No frills, divey feeling. Their breakfast tacos (not pictured) are great - and they have like 3 different types of salsa. Get the jalapeño ranch!!! For dinner, I like their soup combo. Comes with your choice of taco.

Jordyne H.

Yelp
Ordered through DoorDash a few times now and the food is always accurate and delicious. My favorite is the Brisket Quesadilla. I'll actually go eat there one day, but for now this is my delivery splurge.

Joyous H.

Yelp
I got the big Tex breakfast burrito, $11 including tax. Well cooked, well seasoned, the fajita beef was perfectly tender and had flavors reminiscent of carne asada. Although the other elements are well cooked and flavorful as well, the beef carries the burrito so I wish there were more throughout, in each bite. Jalapeno salsa was absolutely amazing, I'd come back just for that. Quick service in the morning, wasn't too busy and still had an upbeat atmosphere.

CAKE E.

Yelp
No seasoning detected anywhere. The food is fresh though. The place is great if you have LOUD kids that love to scream and you want a quick outing with them. The guacamole, salsa and chips were good. There's a bar area that is slightly less noisy. I can see getting a beer and appetizers here. If you're looking for Mexican food, this is more like what someone imagines it would taste like, but never read a recipe for it and doesn't know what cumin, oregano, and limes are.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Good local taco spot. Tacos are a good deal - especially the combo at around $10 for tacos, rice, beans, and a drink. Tacos are hit or miss. I've tried the beef fajita and pork tacos and did not love them. However, I love their breakfast tacos and beef street tacos. So I stick to ordering those. We always get the jalapeño ranch & chips as a starter and it's delicious! Tastes like the one at Chuys. Ample parking lot, can easily order online or in store for quick to-go, casual place and no frills environment. My boyfriend & I love it for a go-to taco spot!

Staci S.

Yelp
We love coming here for breakfast tacos & quesadillas! The pricing is AMAZING! Love the location, patio, always fast great service, we also love the salsa bar! One of our top weekly spots

emily a.

Yelp
very mediocre Tex mex but cheap, quick, and super family friendly! Porch is dog friendly.

Andrew P.

Yelp
Have to put their jalapeño ranch on EVERYTHING! OMG, so delicious! Their breakfast tacos w/ that are the bomb. My fave is the brisket, egg, and cheese b-fast taco. Many more to choose from from b-fast, lunch, and dinner. Anyone let me know how the Margaritas are. Usually I'm there in the A.M., so that wouldn't be the best choice for the road.

George W.

Yelp
Great staff, service, food, drinks. Neighborhood feel and very friendly family oriented place with fun bar for sports watching.

Sarah R.

Yelp
Always a favorite local spot to go to! Staff is amazing, especially Hilda! Highly recommend!

Alison B.

Yelp
I got this delivered today! I will tell everyone. The manager and hist were so rude. He said about 1230 he would get a refund and call me. By 530 i got nothing and host was very rude. I will tell everyone. Its not about the money. The principle. My chalupa looked like this upon delivery. Its not about the money. Its the quality and management .

Jason H.

Yelp
I used to really like this place. The food is average, but the worst is that it has become a place to bring your kids and let them run around screaming. Too bad. We will have to find another quick TexMex place.

Shannah H.

Yelp
I've had many a breakfast taco, but I'm pretty sure Taco Joint is my favorite in the Dallas area. Tons of choices - all mix and match to make your preference - and plenty of seating, cold beer, serve-yourself-salsa and an outdoor patio. Even though they, like everyone else these days, are short staffed you would never guess it. Food is served fast, everyone is friendly and this is just about as much as you can ask for. This is a great post-run hangout with friends - obviously my friends and I think so, as do tons of other White Rock Lake area runners. Can't wait for the Plano Taco Joint to open!

Kathy B.

Yelp
Had lunch here for the very first time the food was good service was good and the food was delicious will try something different on the next visit

Matt P.

Yelp
With flags and vinyl records adorning this establishment, I immediately felt like this was your older brother's taco spot. And I mean that in a good way. (It's also helpful to note that I had no idea this was literally called Taco Joint. Show's how much of a transplant I really am!) We did a quick carryout, and the staff and crew at the bar were super friendly. A mix of family and friends, which is a huge indicator of taste, beyond flavor.

Brian K.

Yelp
I got no pictures to show you of the Taco Joint, because that is just how hungry I was. You ever walk into a place and swear you were suddenly in another city? This place feels like you are in Austin. But you are not in Austin, You are in a strip mall in Dallas. Maybe that's worth checking out for its own sake, but the food is also really good. Go nuts and order one of everything. I'm pretty sure the "Big B" is named for me.

Wendy C.

Yelp
Fast, good and a lot of options. We ordered the migas plate which is a big plate of eggs, tortilla strips, onions, tomatoes, Serrano's & cheese. Served with potatoes, beans and 2 tortes for $7.99. Excellent we will order it again!! We also ordered a great first burrito which is a gigantic flour tortilla stuffed with eggs, potatoes, cheese and chorizo. It is great with their jalapeño sauce. We will be back!

Keith J.

Yelp
Let me start this review by saying I am a HUGE fan of the other Taco Joint locations on Peak St and in Preston Center. However, this location is just the epitome of how bad management can fail a good chain. The place smells terrible, its wet and moldy with the smell of a run down college bar. The staff is often rude and always testy. Today the lady at the checkout counter was clearly sick, she coughed in her hands moments before grabbing my food... But most importantly, their tacos are terrible! You can taste the leftover grill grease on each taco. Additionally, they use the bare minimum of meat they can possible use and on their breakfast tacos the egg to meat ratio should be illegal. Like 10:1 egg to meat. Disgusting and sad.

Yelp
THIS IS OUR FAVORITE PLACE! It's our neighborhood hang out. Great bar service with Chris! Very vegan friendly!

Julio R.

Yelp
This is a Tex-Amex spot not an "authentic" Mexican food joint, plus it's a chain restaurant. (But I guess authentic depends on your perspective, I'm Mexican) having said that, I actually like this place. I like me a good Tex-Mex place, I don't always have to have authentic Mexican, sometimes I carve something more Americanized and this place has some good food as long as you prepare yourself for Tex-Mex not Authentic! Lol ok now that I've harped on that we can move on! Lol This place got real busy and we were there on a Friday night so be prepared for a lot of families and kids running around, not a bad thing just be prepared. Overall I think the food was good and not expensive so it would be a place I would go if I didn't want to sit down at on the border but was craving Tex Mex without the waiter.

Kera D.

Yelp
This place has horrible food and sub par service. The food barely qualifies as mex anything. My salad was served with dry chicken they claimed to be fajita chicken and was missing the avocado. It was literally a pan with some bagged lettuce and tomatoes and a few tortilla strips. If it weren't for the delicious margarita I would've given them no stars. Worst food in Texas!

Katie L.

Yelp
We go here a lot because we take our daughter for tacos after her dance class nextdoor. We have always loved the food and spicy ranch! The Preston center location is awesome and on-it. Unfortunately my husband and I have to always triple check our order at the Mockingbird location because it never fails they have forgotten something. When we get the food, it's usually very good but this is becoming constant. Also, I waited to review because I wasn't sure if it was a one time thing, but the lady taking orders on Sundays is horrible! So rude, blank stares at you, doesn't greet you or ask questions, doesn't say thank you or use any type of customer service skills.. does she hate her job? I'm so confused.. how has a manager not trained her in these things? Unpleasant ordering from her and half the time I'm pretty sure it's her fault our order is wrong because she hasn't input it correctly because it appears she truly doesn't care to be there. To counter this, the guys in the back handing out orders are always friendly and kind!! Not meaning to rag on this location but they need to lose their teenage angst cashier and triple check that orders are correct and they'll be on-par with their other locations in no time :) would be happy to do another updated review once some of these easy fixes have been made!

Elise C.

Yelp
Great Me Tex-Mex! I eat here often and it is consistent. The burrito and queso are our favorites!

Teiaundrea R.

Yelp
Two things: 1. bad service 2. Nasty nachos No seriously, the nachos tasted like "kitchen". --like cleaning supplies or something. If you want t pay $10 for 7 chips of bullshit--be my guest.

Deborah R.

Yelp
This rating is for the Inwood store. In a word: Ugh! Employees were very nice, but the food wasn't. The fish taco had no flavor, salsas no flavor, brisket taco was weirdly sweet and the longer you chewed the brisket the bigger it got. It's always a bad sign when that happens. Instead of shredding the brisket, the should thinly slice it or chop it. Shredding just gives you tough weirdness. Will go back and try a breakfast item. They are around the corner from my house so I would like have this work.

Dallas D.

Yelp
This place is sooooo good!!!! The customer service I get here is great especially from Yesesnia and Juan. Every time we walk through the door we are greeted with a smile and friendly service. highly recommend!!!!

Robert R.

Yelp
Overall pretty mediocre, gave it 3 tries. Food is not the best, atmosphere is insanely loud as they seem to have every local kids sports team celebrating and the cleanliness on the floor is poor. Plenty of other taco options to choose from - I won't be back.

Statler R.

Yelp
I don't know man. I guess I was spoiled growing up in San Antonio- home of Tex Mex. I haven't found a legit breakfast taco in Dallas yet. So disappointing. I like big chunks of potato, not these tiny bits that look like the kind you can get in the frozen potato section at Kroger. They didn't charge for the onion so I guess that's something. The clientele looks like the white, uppity SMU crowd so I guess it's no surprise that the food isn't that great. I ate it but will I be back? Nah. If you've never had a great breakfast taco before and have low standards, this place is for you. The fact that they only have one type of salsa should say it all.

Carolyn C.

Yelp
I love the service. The atmosphere is chill. The food is good. I especially like the shrimp tacos and the refried beans, lots of flavor.

Troy P.

Yelp
This place has a nice quirky interior similar to many places I've seen around universities. The pricing was very reasonable given similar establishments, and the tacos were filled to the max. However, the meat to salad ratio in the taco was uneven favoring the salad. Also, I had to hunt for any sign of refried beans between the layers in the Lester taco. Besides those two small issues, I would give five stars.

Roxanne R.

Yelp
this food is absolutely terrible and i'm so surprised the reviews it has to have 4 stars wtheck am i missing. i've tried this place 3-4 times thinking i was just got the wrong thing. Good location terrible food

Anna E.

Yelp
Our staple on the weekends. Everything is so good. We love that it's quick and easy and you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu!

Dianne J.

Yelp
My husband and I have picked up food from this place on numerous times. We have always been pleased with the quality of food & serve. Except tonight. I ordered soup for the first time and I thought it just tasted "off". I couldn't put a word to what I was tasting. I thought maybe my tastebuds were off, so asked my husbands opinion. He immediately after said "It's bitter" after tasting it. Hope this review helps the chef get it right next time.

Carlos P.

Yelp
They are as consistent as any Tex Amex restaurant in the city. Wide variety of choices and daily specials. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu

Ryan D.

Yelp
I ordered the migas plate after a long morning. My excitement was through the roof. The rush I felt when the delivery app stated it had been delivered. Smelling the aromatic pepper and beans made my mouth salivate. Now you may be asking yourself why the one star review Ryan well here's why. I open the bag and find that I was only two tortillas. I was simply astonished. Once my surprise faded I began to search the bag maybe I had missed the rest. I had not I quickly became irate due to this mistreatment. Never going again

Chelsea R.

Yelp
Great vibe indeed! This is the hot spot for the new club I've been running with! It's perfect for weekends after a run. Migas, tacos and mimosas oh my!! They have weekend specials for beverages and the breakfast tacos are mega cheap. I always substitute flour for the corn tortillas and they are quite tasty. They have a patio for when the weather is nice. It's pretty spacious inside if you'd like to bring friends. And it's also super close to White Rock Lake! Well when I say super close I mean pretty much running distance if you run. Anyways come check it out! There's a few other things in this area I'd like to try. But they have some of the tastiest breakfast tacos I've had in this area thus far. Get there early to secure a spot on weekends.

Cheryl D.

Yelp
Incredible food! Huge portions and the best salsa ever! Nice seating on outdoor patio if the weather permits.

momarnmila d.

Yelp
It's okay I'm from CA so Telmex isn't really my thing wasn't horrible I could just get better at a local taqueria

Melissa C.

Yelp
Love this place. But the portions have gone down a notch. Otherwise yummy food and service with a smile.

James M.

Yelp
Stale tacos, tasteless chips and salsa, this is the worst tacos in Texas.

Brandon P.

Yelp
Big fan of Taco Joint. I'm a big supporter of local businesses especially Good Food restaurants. The only thing I don't understand is why it's such a hassle to pay for and receive EXTRA CHEESE. I enjoy their tacos, unfortunately very little cheese. They have good shredded cheese, I just want extra!!
