The Best Breakfast Tacos and Burritos in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"Join the early morning crew of hospital staff getting off their shifts and tradesmen just beginning their day by ordering a brisket taco on a pillowy flour tortilla. Dress it up at the salsa bar with what is perhaps the city’s best jalapeño ranch. Don’t skip the migas taco featuring onions, tomatoes, tortilla strips, and serrano peppers." - Henry James Ferry

Where to Find the Best Takeout in Lakewood | Eater Dallas

"Quarantine has brought with it the ability to order alcohol by the jug, and neighborhood haunt Taco Joint jumped right into that bandwagon. Rocks or frozen, grab 18 oz. of margaritas for $9.95 or a 1/2 gallon for $36.50. Pair them with a couple of Lester tacos, which feature a crispy beef taco wrapped in refried beans and a flour tortilla. Order online via Taco Joint’s website." - Rachel Pinn

Google
Great breakfast tacos. They were stuffed full of eggs and cheese and beans. One taco was more than enough for me. Great service and quick service. They have a nice Dallas themed decor. Good price for the amount of food.

Google
I have another incorrect order. This time it was not anything close to what I ordered. I requested and have receipt to prove that the cashier rung it up correctly. One full order of ground sirlion nachos. And I got a beef quesdilla. And when I try and call to bring it to their attention. The line has been busy for over 30 minutes. If not longer. I ordered at 5:20 pm today. And it's now 7:20 pm. And the line is still getting a busy signal. This is totally ridiculous!! I have never had any issues with the food since I’ve been going there for over 3 years. I called to express my experience with today’s order. Although the staff was very polite in explaining why it was that way. I was told that because of the sauce it made the tortilla soggy. I’m good with the explanation. But there was no consideration in asking if I would like to replace it with something else? Where has customer satisfaction gone to? You’ve gotten my money clearly for something that I cannot eat. Never had that problem before with the same order. Why now?

Wife got the burrito challenge burrito for us to share and it weighed 2.6 pounds....this place has really gone downhill. Living in East Dallas for years this was a go to. Sadly, this is probably our last visit. Dry, very little cheese or eggs. Dissapointing.

Google
We got some tacos to go from this place and really enjoyed them. We got the bacon egg and cheese, sausage egg and cheese, and a brisket egg and cheese. The bacon and sausage breakfast tacos were standout. The tacos were simple and nothing complex but made at a very high level. We will definitely come back here when craving breakfast tacos.

The cashier was very nice and "showed me the ropes since it was my first time". I had a small problem with my order but it was handled quickly and taken care of. The food is good, the service was great, and the atmosphere is friendly.

Taco Joint Review Taco Joint is a local counter-serve chain in Dallas, Texas, offering Tex-Mex favorites, including breakfast options, in a casual space. I recently had the opportunity to try their spicy pork taco and spicy fried chicken taco, and I was impressed with both. The spicy pork taco had a generous portion of tender, flavorful pork that was perfectly seasoned. The heat level was just right, adding a nice kick without being overwhelming. The taco was topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, and the house-made jalapeño ranch dressing was a delicious addition. The spicy fried chicken taco was also excellent. The chicken was crispy and juicy, and the breading was perfectly seasoned. Again, the heat level was just right, and the taco was topped with the same fresh toppings and delicious jalapeño ranch dressing. I was very pleased with the quality and taste of both tacos. The tortillas were fresh and flavorful, and the fillings were generous and delicious. I also appreciated that the jalapeño ranch dressing was house-made, as it added a unique and flavorful touch to the tacos. My only complaint about Taco Joint is the price. Most tacos cost around $4 each, which is on the expensive side for tacos. However, I think the price is justified given the quality and taste of the food. Overall, I had a great experience at Taco Joint. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was casual and inviting. I would definitely recommend Taco Joint to anyone looking for a tasty and authentic Tex-Mex experience. Here is a more detailed breakdown of my experience: Food: 5/5 The food at Taco Joint is excellent. The tacos are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the flavors are authentic and delicious. I was particularly impressed with the house-made jalapeño ranch dressing, which added a unique and flavorful touch to the tacos. Service: 4/5 The service at Taco Joint was friendly and efficient. I ordered my food at the counter and received it quickly. The staff was also helpful and answered any questions I had about the menu. Atmosphere: 4/5 The atmosphere at Taco Joint is casual and inviting. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I felt comfortable dining alone, but I think Taco Joint would also be a great place to come with friends or family. Value: 3/5 The food at Taco Joint is delicious, but it is also on the expensive side. Most tacos cost around $4 each, which is more than some other taco restaurants. However, I think the price is justified given the quality and taste of the food. Overall: 4/5 Overall, I had a great experience at Taco Joint. The food was excellent, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was casual and inviting. I would definitely recommend Taco Joint to anyone looking for a tasty and authentic Tex-Mex experience.

Google
I was so not feeling tacos today. 😩 but my friend wanted tacos. I'm an open minded cat and i love trying new food spots in my city so 🤷 I went along for the ride. The taco joint seems like a place to enjoy a nice sit down meal during the early hours of the week day. Yet, I can tell that it's the type of place to come alive during the weekends. The taste of the food is great. The in house plate presentation seems to be on point. Yet, as for the to go presentation. I feel They could put more income into more doable more doorbell to the packaging. The salad bar could also use sliced lemons, sliced limes, Pico, Guacamole, sour cream. Yet the design, atmosphere, food and service are over all pretty good. #chefdontaedadon

Google
Taco Joint on Peak has the best breakfast tacos in DFW. Spicy fried chicken and brisket are the best ones. Jalapeño ranch is fire. You know a place with bars on the windows where cops stop for breakfast is good. Love the photos and murals inside

Yelp
There food is so delicious! The service is grea! And the atmosphere of the ambiance is wonderful. Eat in or make it to go.

Yelp
Honestly it was pretty good.! I didn't care how later at night and felt like the food wasn't 100% It's a nice sized restaurant, with a good bit of seating and a good bit of parking. It would be nice if they would clean their drink machine though a lot of gnats were flying around it. Overall id like to go back earlier in the day to see if the look and taste of the food is different.

Yelp
I'm a Door Dasher and I was in the middle of 3 back-to-back orders when my phone crashed. Lina at the location was amazing! I was worried the customer's order would be cold by the time Ai was able to get there. She remade it. Happy customer - happy dasher! BTW - their tacos & queso are amazing! Thanks, Lina!

Yelp
Went here today to continue my search of a great breakfast burrito. The location was easy to find and lots of parking so that is always a plus. I ordered online and it was ready when I got there which was great! However, I was thoroughly disappointed in the burrito. The inside - bacon, potato's, egg, cheese, tastes fine. Could use more cheese and softer bacon. The tortilla, though, is not good. It tastes like a burrito tortilla you get from the store, which it probably is. I would love a nice homemade tortilla. Because of this, I won't be going back when it comes to wanting breakfast tacos.

Yelp
I found this place leaving a doctors appt., the service is great and fast. Rhonda was the cashier, she told me I'll be back and boy was she correct! after eating the Big B. If I worked there I'd be a beached whale, this is now my go to Mexican fix must try.

Yelp
First time here at the Dallas Taco Joint. I've been to the Taco Joint in Wylie, but never to the original. So I thought I'd check it out. The parking lot isn't ideal, but I didn't come for the parking. The food I had was better than the one in Wylie. The service was good and fast. The ambiance, well you can tell by my pictures they love Dallas.

Yelp
Ordered online takeout for my mom while we were at Baylor Dallas. Easy online menu, super quick ordering and pick up. Got my mom a taco salad, tortilla soup and chips and queso. She raved about all three. Said the taco meat in the salad was really good. And ate every bit of the queso. Will definitely try again!

Yelp
The taco joint is amazing! The workers are so friendly and nice and the food is delicious. It taste like food chains, but like Abuela made it herself. The prices are amazing and the venue is very nice after the remodel, it's hard for me to write this review without wanting to go there and get some food right now!
google avatar

Yelp
Great experience getting takeout here, my food was ready when I arrived, and the staff were friendly. Food quality, and value for the price was great.

Yelp
I told myself I was going to try something new and different so I selected this restaurant and I can't tell you how disappointed I am that I made that decision. I'm glad I only ordered the "Big B" burrito with chicken. I guess the B stands for beans, because I received a sprinkle of chicken and mostly refried beans. I try to support small businesses, however is really hard when the food is horrible and the customer service is so so. Well, I can put this restaurant on my list of restaurants that I would never ever go to again and definitely would never recommend!

R M.

Yelp
I eat there all the time and found it to be just right in everything. The new manager is great and the Monday special is worth coming for every week. The atmosphere isn't awesome but that's fine with me. I'll always be back.

Sally M.

Yelp
The food was so good. I order the brisket taco and cheese enchiladas. YUM! My husband had the beef enchiladas and wouldn't even share a bite. That tells you everything! Everyone was super friendly and the service was great. Walk up to order at the counter and free drink refills. I loved the atmosphere and seeing all the old records hanging around. Great local downtown spot.

Yelp
Got through Door Dash. Delivery was fine. Tried four different tacos and some tomatillo. Since it was delivered, I have no comments on service or parking (sorry, I just don't). But the food: Tomatillo Sauce - I normally love this sauce, usually because it is mild and full of flavor. This version just ramped up the spice level more than I like, but the flavor was good. Black beans - wonderful, really well prepared. Street taco - I had high hopes, but it was way too dry and not very flavorful. Fish taco - also dry, I am seeing a trend her. Flavors were on point though. Sophie - okay this was incredible, fresh, tasty and satisfyingly good. The Evan - also very good, but not as good as the Sophie. Really not awful, but I expected more.

Yelp
Food is standard, Tex-Mex. I recommend this location of you live nearby, if you're in the mood for Mexican food, and want to go to a casual place that is a step up from fast food. It's my go to for fast-casual Mexican food and it is well-priced for what they are offering. FYI. This location has a homeless woman who posts up outside and occasionally exposes herself. If you have children then I recommend taking them to the Mockingbird location.
google avatar

Marissa C.

Yelp
They have this avocado something salsa that is to die for! That and the churro bites are enough for me to keep coming back.

Sean W.

Yelp
Good service, good portion, and good taste. Had the carne asada tacos and was not disappointed.
google avatar

Emir G.

Yelp
One of my local favorites. Tacos are small and pricey but delicious. Burritos are the best move. Always busy for breakfast on weekends.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice taco place to enjoy tacos or salads. Decent menu with average prices. Nice for family, friends, couples or eating solo. Nice staff.

Yelp
This review is for the new location on Main Street, Frisco, Texas. Unfortunately, it's so new that it's not listed on Yelp yet. However, I wanted to pass on how great the food and service were! I will definitely return for those delicious tacos!! Thanks, Aaron, and to the great service the manager provided!
google avatar

Regina F.

Yelp
The tacos are magical, but apparently not after 8:15 pm. Posted hours open until 9:00 pm. Doors locked with people inside and one diner at 8:20. I'm sorry I stopped.
google avatar

Harvey C.

Yelp
I don't usually take the time to leave positive reviews, but this joint is real good! I was craving a breakfast burrito for dinner, and luckily, they had breakfast options available. The food was tasty, cost was reasonable, and the staff were kind and patient. I'll definitely be coming back soon!
google avatar

Laura F.

Yelp
Jalapeño Ranch= amazing 5 stars 2 item breakfast tacos = 3 stars Really wish the tacos were filled better. If y'all can't fill the ones you have, maybe try smaller tortillas ‍ If I can tear the remaining empty tortilla off, then it's not as full as it can be ... just saying **lakewood location makes them a bit chubbier
google avatar

Sebastian L.

Yelp
Great little spot. Area can be a little sketchy, but not too bad. Food was spot on. Good prices for what you get and there are a good number of options to choose from. Definitely recommend the spicy fried chicken taco. The habanero ranch was really good with it.
google avatar

Evan B.

Yelp
Ordered tacos and chips and came with no salsa or sauce. How am i supposed to eat this without condiments?

Wyatt C.

Yelp
Stopped by for a breakfast burrito. The Gordo burrito touched my soul in the best way possible. The jalapeno ranch is absolute bussing as well. I'll definitely be back!

Abbie H.

Yelp
Taco Joint is a hidden gem! the most friendly service makes it a must-visit. Love the quesadillas and they have the best salsa

Richard S.

Yelp
Great food fast and delicious! You'll want to try the Lester (double decker taco)! And try their picosso sauce on your enchiladas! And the breakfast tacos are so delicious! Put a little jalapeno ranch on there and enjoy!!
google avatar

Monika S.

Yelp
The Traditional Taco Salad is my favorite. I get it every time with jalapeño ranch and drizzle a little green salsa on top. Yummy.
google avatar

Teresa R.

Yelp
I didn't realize this was a 'chain' until I was looking for this location here on Yelp! It seems like a quaint Mom n Pop setup, with the same workers everytime I visit which is only every few months, when I make the drive across town to the office. My employees insist we eat there and I'm never disappointed. No matter what time we arrive, the line moves fast and the ladies are friendly and efficient. I rarely eat Tex-Mex these days, so it's a real treat. Fresh chips with tasty salsa and every thing is cooked right then. Try the flautas on their day - I never pay attention to the specials but my co-workers swear by them and they look so amazing! On my most recent visit I had a chicken fajita taco and an 'especial' chalupa with ground sirloin. Both were flavorful and fresh - and messy! Don't put too much salsa like I always do. The jalapeno ranch is so yummy. Enjoy! Sorry I forgot to take pictures this time.

Syl S.

Yelp
Cool decor. Easy to order. Variety of items. I got the Tuesday special and it was just right. The green sauce is the perfect touch of heat and flavor. Rice and beans are yummy too. It comes with side of queso and ties it all together. Would go again
google avatar

Sherry P.

Yelp
Everything here is amazing. My most favorite is the veggie enchiladas with Queso over it. It is always packed which tells you it is popular and good.
google avatar

Emme D.

Yelp
Two words - Soooooooooo good... I can eat the breakfast tacos everyday any time of the day. Also in love with their salsas. Thank you Taco Joint for waking up my taste buds. My definite go to for breakfast tacos when I'm in Dallas.
google avatar

Zachary B.

Yelp
Talk about local and delish! The Taco Joint is a no frills, open early taco spot that serves up delicious fare on a tortilla. Huge fans of it all, but my highlight is the Lester - a crispy beef taco wrapped in a soft bean taco - OMG. Crunchy and delicious! I also love their salsa rojo at the bar, but if you want something spicier they have other salsas that you can ask for! Their breakfast tacos are also the business - don't deprive yourself of a bean and cheese taco at 8:00 AM. Check them out
google avatar

Danielle G.

Yelp
I love the vibe of this place. Came across it by accident and now go every morning. I'm simple and get a bean burrito with queso and side of sour cream. My boyfriend likes the cheese enchiladas and the breakfast tacos. Minor inconsistency in the way the food comes out and tastes but nothing bad enough to send me away.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
Imagine a restaurant making jalapeño ranch so good, you'd pay $5 for that and chips. Only, it literally never makes it into the bag. The food is good, but it is always cold. Everyone is nice, but you'll wait 10 minutes in an empty restaurant before your order is taken. They focus on to-go and online, and still get those orders wrong. Anything with beef is heavily underseasoned. The restaurant is dirty. The place isn't cleaned. It's just another Torchy's. What a disappointment.

Axel R.

Yelp
This place sucks!! I ordered 8 breakfast tacos and only received 4, and tacos didn't have any egg.. what kind of breakfast tacos don't have egg in them?? Who ever the owner is must be dumb to serve breakfast tacos with no egg. Extremely disappointed!!!

Mark W.

Yelp
Nice selection of authentic tacos. I only had breakfast but can see coming back to try other menu items. Migas tacos were excellent. Must try the jalapeno ranch

Ivana W.

Yelp
Definitely not what I was expecting, I ordered the picoso burrito and a taco plate with a spicy taco and a shrimp taco , the shrimp taco was under done and the spicy chicken taco was not spicy and was a fried chicken strip. Our beans and rice were ice cold , the lettuce on all the tacos were old and partially brown . The only thing that I can say enjoyed was the spicy queso that I they put on the side of my burrito which I can say I appreciate. This place is probably good after hours when your drunk and hungry but definitely not something you wanna just go out and try . They have a extensive menu that sounds amazing but definitely need to work on the presentation.
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
Not fancy but best breakfast tacos around. Breakfast enchiladas were also terrific. It's more of a takeout place but they do have a dining room.
google avatar

Kristi P.

Yelp
Not bad. Couple of the steak pieces In my quesadilla were too chewy and tough to consume. I also had a crunch taco...it was basic and the meat needed flavor. I think this place is a 2 star but I feel like if I maybe had a few more drinks it would earn this 3.
google avatar

Kari B.

Yelp
Cheap and delicious taco spot! I had the breakfast tacos and potatoes however I recommend skipping the potatoes and going for the chips and salsa instead. Easy parking and sweet staff!

Ashley L.

Yelp
I loved the breakfast it was delicious. The food and service was quick and the workers and staff were wonderful and professional.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent customer service and the food is very good. Everything I have gotten is fresh and well made
google avatar

Yelp
As a native Texan living in Nashville, TN for 20+ years, good breakfast tacos and Tex-Mex are well let's just say not available. Personally, the Taco Joint is a must go to when my work travels bring me to Dallas. The menu is vast, food is great and it's easy on the expense report.
google avatar

Mark J.

Yelp
What a great find, but get there early for lunch as the line builds quickly. Of the three tacos I had, my favorite was the carnitas. My friend had the fajitas tacos, which looked amazing. We also got queso and guacamole. Both very generous portions, and the thin tortillas that I love.

Kathy J.

Yelp
Great food at great price! Staff are super friendly and accommodating. Service is quick!
google avatar

Craig C.

Yelp
Great spot. The tacos are good. They also have some great salsas. Get the 2 taco combo and it comes with a drink and rice and beans.
